Earth II - Cotland annex Singapore

The Cottish Far Eastern fleet lay in wait outside Singapore. The missile cruisers and destroyers prepared their missiles and the Marines and army soldiers embarked in the Stinger class assault ships prepared for combat. They had a total of 56 F-35s for air support, as well as several attack helicopters, light tanks, IFVs and APCs in addition to the old trusty XM-8 assault rifle, the infantrymans best friend. Singapore would be the newest Cottish colony.

ooc: Will post more soon. This was just a preliminary.

The first forces, consisting of 2000 Marines, landed virtually on top of Changi International Airport and had it secured within 6 hours. So far, only light resistance was encountered. The airport had been closed for traffic before the Marines hit, due to F-35s dropping cluster bombs on the runways. It was open for helicopter traffic though, so the Merlins and Ospreys carrying fresh troops could land there. After 12 hours, a total of 4000 Marines and 17 000 soldiers stood in right outside downtown Singapore.

ooc: Anyone want to RP resistance?

12 hours after the attack started, all SAM, SSM and coastal cannon sites had been knocked out by Cottish cruise missiles, bombs or cannonshells. It was now relatively safe for the planes and helicopters to fly over Singapore. The oppertunity wasn't lost on the Cots, and soon, planes dropped bombs and fired missiles at all known military positions, gathered by U-3A Aurora recon planes and satellites.

While the Marines and soldiers took Changi Int'l, 300 Marines assaulted Pulau Bukum, taking the island in less then an hour. Only ten police patrols were on the island, and those were quickly disarmed. The same thing happened at Pulau Tekong, where 500 Marines took the island, along with the Tekong Reservoir and the small settlement. Next, the islands of Sentosa, Pulau Ayer Merbau, Pulau Ayer Chawan, Pulau Seraya, Pulau Merlimau and Pulau Persek would be assaulted by a combined force of no less then 5700 Marines and soldiers, supported by a lot of attack helicopters and fighterbombers.

The crew of the Greyeye class arsenal ship "Oma" closed all hatches and doorways. They were about to unleash hell on Sembawang Naval Base, firing off 90 'Pole-axe' missiles, the Cottish alternative to the Tomahawk missile. It was a lot of missiles, but the Cottish doctrine was "better safe then sorry". A total of 64 800 kgs of high explosives would impact the naval base, which had a size of 3 square kilometers. It would be hell on Earth.

Seven newly arrived M2A3 Bradley IFVs moved down the road flanked with friendly infantry along the sides of the road. It was quiet. Too quiet. Suddenly the houses on the sides exploded in gunfire, cutting down most of the infantry before they had a chance of taking cover. The Bradleys turned their turrets and opened fire with their 25mm autocannons, destroying the houses within seconds, killing a good portion of the Singaporian troopers inside. The rest were killed by the commanders of the Bradleys with their 7.62mm M240G machine guns and the infantry with their XM-8 rifles. The 7.62mm and 6.8mm rounds did the trick, and within minutes, the remaining enemy were dead or had retreated. As a result of the skirmish, a total of 13 Cottish soldiers were killed, and approximately 45 Singaporians were slayed. The units proceeded towards their objective, the government house in Downtown. The first and hopefully decisive assault on the goverment were about to begin.

ooc: The situation has been resolved in favor of me, so the annexation goes on.

ic: By now, 3200 Cottish soldiers stood 400 meters away from the Parliament House, waiting for the final units to get into position. Singaporian attacks had so far claimed 420 Cottish lives, with an unknown amount of Singaporians dead. F-35Cs armed with 500 lbs bombs took out enemy targets of opportunity along with the RAH-66s, AH-1Ws and AH-6Js. It was the hope that if the Government could be captured, they could be pressed to order the enemy to lay down their arms. If so, they would be spared.

At 12.00, the attack began. 3200 soldiers, supported by M1A2s, CV-9030s and M2A3s began to advance towards Parliament House, the location of the Singaporian Parliament and cabinet. The area was surrounded, giving the occupants no chance of escape. After twelve minutes, a total 372 soldiers were dead, caught in deadly crossfires by Singaporian MGs, mainly M2HBs and M-249s. They were quickly dispatched off by the tanks and IFVs, but not quickly enough. Several RPGs were sent towards the advancing tanks, disabling two before the assailants were killed.

At 12.54, the first Cottish soldiers breached the doors to the Parliament, sweeping the floors. After ten minutes, a total of 400 soldiers were inside. It was a success. The entire Parliament had been captured. Now, they were ordering their soldiers to lay down their arms. True, they had several XM-8s and MP-5s aimed at their heads, but still. The orders were valid, so most of the Singaporian resistance fighters lay down their arms. Within seven hours, Cottish soldiers were in positions all around the island, securing Tengah and Sambawang airfields, the Johor Baharu causeway and elsewhere. Fort Siloso was taken without firing a bullet.

The entire island would take another two days to secure, using fresh troops airlifted in from the ships laying at anchor in the Sebarok Channel. When the securing of the island was complete, all resistance had been terminated and all weapons had been confiscated, the task of reconstructing Singapore would begin. Not many areas had been damaged, so it would not impact the economy. Within twelve months, the Singaporian people would be much happier then before they became a Cottish province.

The only comment I do have to make is that the RP seemed shoddy but it's cool.

Short, considering the scale of resistance FCN's former military would have put up.

Damn that's a heavily defended place. You should have just turned the whole thing into a military base lol! On the plus side: "Need any air defense systems?"

Yeah, it would have been longer if someone had bothered to RP the resistance. Anyway, Singapore is the HQ for my Pacific forces. That, and it being surrounded by Hogsweat on all sides ;). Expect a large order in your storefront verry, verry soon. I hope you'll give me a small discount? *makes puppy eyes*

On the plus side: "Need any air defense systems?"Well, he wouldn't have gotten close, especially with the sixteen SS/SSNs that I keep between Singapore and Indonesia and the four divisions of marines that I had stationed there.

But its all cool. :p

My old RP of the taking of Singapore had primarily a surprise attack using commercial aircraft stuffed with marines. I captured the airport and inserted special forces by submarine. I took out the leadership, before the Singaporean military wiped out my marine battalion at the airport. It kinda went downhill from there, but I managed to win.

Nice. Well, I kinda like to use a lot of cruise missiles and JDAMs, combined with ground forces. The Cottish doctrine, if you want to call it something. Well well..
