Slavery has never been a practice in the old Empire, during the Civil War, or during the Second Empire (Macabee Empire... which was re-started about three to four weeks ago...as in history re-start...erased my past).

I would say that your servant system is not really slavery but just a way a person repays their debts.

ViZion finds this practice very uncivilized, and in some cases, extremely vile. ViZion has no such practices within its borders.

Siesatia is built upon the princibles of Freedom, freedom from oppression of all kinds. Slavery is viewed upon as a vile act, that defiles the basic right of all sentient beings.
St Norton and Peos

The Free Lands of St. Norton And Peos has never practiced slavery in its history. Our nation looks upon all people as free and not answerable to any authority. That includes the government, which operates at a extremely informal level.

Contractual slavery exists. Forced slavery exists only in penal colonies.
Karrnath

The Kingdom of Karrnath sends prisoners, political or otherwise, to self-sustained forced labor camps. You might call them gulags, but we don't. By we, I mean my people. Unless they want to see one first-hand.

We used to, but then we had the Great Slave Rebellion, where a bunch of Gladiators rebelled and took over nearly all of one of our islands, and then our colonies on Earth II were attacked, and then we were winning but then our allies turned on us and commited mass genocide against our people. The Empire and the Slaves made peace and abolished slavery, a massive army was raised, and the brief but bloody War of Betrayal. After a few crushing defeats inflicted on us by our turn-coat former allies, we nuked a few enemy cities and then got glassed. Then an age of anarchy engulfed the land, but since that day there hasn't been any slaves in our nation.

Our lands have thralls, bondsmen, serfs and indentured workers.

my social system is divided into many groups, however the main groups are listed as follows:

HATKA: made of the royal family, top ranking generals, and the ministers.

HRISKA: the fighting class(this is the basis of the army)

HERTKA: these are the artisans and scientists

AERTKO: these are the workers(slaves)

movement between the classes except the HATKA and AERTKO class, acceptance into the class is based on a test at the age of 20, and anyone below 20 is considered part of the HAREK class. the movement between classes is also based on a qualification test.

Yes... for thieves and rapist after a set of fair trials. Thieves are put into slavery if their thefts total more than 150.00 qubes. Theif slavery last untill debts are paid; sometimes this last for a day or less, other times it can span years. Minor thieves are often allowed to stay in their environment, and only need to report to where they will work off their debt. While major thieves are sent to prisons to work off debt. Rapist are sent to prisons, isolated in individual cells, and sentanced to hard labor for an indefinite number of years. All criminals are given counseling. It remains a debated issue in Unidox. Murderers are a different issue.

Criminals are effectively made servants of the state until their prison terms are finished. Much hard labor in Cyrian space is done by the occupants of our penal system. This works especially well, because if a person is proven innocent, they are simply compensated for the time they spent working for the government.
It helps a great deal that there are very few jailable crimes in Cyrian Space. Murder and violent rape are punished by death, leaving only theft, assault, and harassment, as well as driving drunk.

OOC:

Yes, I have both. Slavery is used for Foreigners who aren't either impaled to death or forced to join one of the Guilder Foreign Legion after conversion to Catholicism, many of the higher end Guild families have numerous slaves.

Serfdom only occurs to non-violent criminals after release where they are indentured to the families they stole/harmed until they pay back in standard wages double the monetary amount of labour that their crimes were totted up to be worth, this includes trial and police fees.

ooc: Sort of, but they don't think of it as slavery. In jail, prisoners are made to spend 2-3 hours a day making licence plates, sewing mail bags etc. to lower the burden on the tax payer. Minor criminals are made to do community service. Both of these are unpaid. However, it is seen as justice rather than slavery.
