Historical Background:
The Pioneer was the 'coming-out party' of the Federal Space Design Bureau shortly after the chartering of the Space Navy. The FSDB was instructed to come up with a spacecraft chassis that could be altered to perform various functions. The Pioneer Class was the final design.
Fitted with state-of-the-art heat, electronic and radar detection systems, the Pioneer represents the culmination of the most reliable technologies for object detection. The variant depicted above, the Pioneer E (Explorer) Class also contains an extensive laboratory for the examination of rock and plant samples, air testing facilities and small creature containment facilities.
The Pioneer Class is highly automated, running only with a crew of ten. Whilst engineering personnel are present onboard for manual repair, the general managing of the ships systems is done by LISA (Limited Intelligence Ship Automation), the latest in Artificial Intelligence Computer systems created by the FSDB Research and Development Department. LISA manages systems onboard the vessel, reacting to various situations by choosing the most logical course of action. LISA is also programmed with one basic core command - crew and vessel protection - that overwrites all over commands in terms of priority.
Pioneer E variants carry no mounted weapons; neither will future-planned Pioneer F (Freight) variants. Crewmembers are equipped with Laser Rifles and Side arms in the case of boarding. Future-planned Pioneer A (Assault) variant will carry mounted weapons.
(OOC: This is an FT nation, intending to start with technology not so much further advanced than late 21st Century stuff. As my nation grows and progresses, it will obviously come about with new, more advanced technology.)
(OOC2: Pioneer vessel will be used in an intro RP fairly soon. Let me know what you think of the design - it was inspired by the DY-100 Class from Star Trek, although I will not necessarily follow ST technology.)
