....We interrupt your program to bring you this breaking news.

As of 0900 hours this morning, Samtonian officials announced that the areas of South America once controlled by Bedistan would fall under Samtonian guidance through the times of turmoil they are currently undergoing.

With the fall of the corrupt regime, the three countries: argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay all fell into immeduiate anarchy. "It's a shame," said Brig. Geneneral Pete Walend. "We need to help those people. And falling under Samtonian democratic rule is the best way to do it."

As of press time, an unconfirmed number of naval vessels and troops have begun to make their way to the territories. It is expected that landings will take place in a few hours and we'll keep you updated on that.

Thank you, and back to Lies: And the Hurt They Cause, the Pauly Shore made-for-TV movie.

The fleet had steamed to a point within the nearer reaches of what once were the coastal defensive weapons. Now, they were little more than burning pyres of twisted metal and glass, smoke staining the sky from what remained of the artillery which had been stored within.

Rear Admiral David Porter looked away from his binoculars towards the bar4ges which were slowly moving towards shore. Visible from even this far out from shore, the massive hovercraft were pushed forward on their massive bubbles of air contained in armored rubber liners. To Porter, they always appeared as large buffers moving towards some unknown destination. But these were not polishing devices, these were transports. And they carried the weapons of war within them. Tanks, APCs, artillery. And infantry.

Oh the infantry! An electric shock raced through Porter’s body whenever that most glorious of services was mentioned. After all, being drafted into that area of service tended to make one’s view of it be seen in rosy terms. It had been a long, twisting path for the Rear Admiral, but now he was commanding the vessels which were to support the infantry in the pacification of territories under extreme anarchy in some areas.

Thusfar, there had been almost no action. Some hardliners had decided to seize the bays defenses and coastal defenses across Argentina, but their firing of artillery from far out of range gave ample opportunities for attacks from the Samtonian half. There would be no hint of a military junta’s possibilities. Samtonia was going to bring peace to the region. And her soldiers were there to enforce it.
