A Meeting of Believers: ATTN Ismira

Malgeria
16-02-2005, 00:34
The small private jet touched down on a runway at the Ismiran international airport in the capital city. A slue of men armed with assault rifles and clothed in white, wearing checkered shemaghs covered in Arabic writing stepped out onto the runway. Following this guard detail came a man wearing a blue and green robe and a white turban. The man sported a long white beard that curled at the end, and he held his hand aloft in a traditional Malgerian gesture of peace. Imam Abdul-Bari, ruler of the Holy Islamic Republic of Malgeria had arrived in Ismira.

The crowds waiting at the air port cheered as the Imam left the plane. Huge banners reading "Assalamu Alaikum Malgeria!" were held up by various people in the crowd. A red carpet had been set up for the Imam to walk on, on his way to the small stage that had been set up for some initial speeches. As the Imam came down the steps, he was greeted by two men. To the left was Caliph Muhammed bin Bashir and to the right was the Shaykh al-Ismira, known simply as Shaykh Abdullah al-Ismira, the head of Ismira University, and the spiritual guide for the entire nation.

"Assalamu Alaikum Imam Abdul-Bari. Welcome to Ismira," said the Caliph. "Let's make these speeches quick. I really want to get back to the palace and get to know you better. I'm very glad that we have met. I'll speak first."

The Caliph and the Shaykh walked up the three steps leading to the runway stage. The Shaykh took a seat near the back of the stage and the Caliph walked up to the podium. The podium had 15 or so microphones from nearly every news agency in the Arab world. The stage was red and had a few chairs in the back for people who were not speaking yet. All accross the back of the stage were alternating flags of Ismira and Malgeria. The Caliph cleared his throught and began his speech.

"Let's give a nice warm welcome to Imam Abdul-Bari of Malgeria brothers and sisters!" Cheers echoed from the crowd. "I'd like to thank the nation of Malgeria and the Imam for making Ismira its their first stop on a long list of nations that they plan to visit. As all of you know, Malgeria has just had an Islamic revolution. They have created a safe heaven for the followers of Allah and the Holy Qu'ran to go and be free from the influence of the western kaffirs. Their cause was true, and they won with Allah on their side. I see their revolution, as a glorious extension of the revolution my father held in this country only 20 years ago. My colleagues and I will be meeting with the Imam and the other delegates from Malgeria all day today. We plan to discuss Muslim unity and theology. We will also discuss plans for continuing relations between our two, great, Muslim nations. And now, without further ado, Imam Abul-Bari!"

The crowd roared and the Caliph stepped back from the podium. He paused briefly on the way to his seat to shake hands with the Imam before he took the podium to deleiver his speech.

Imam Abdul-Bari stepped up to the podium, again raising his hand, a serene expression upon his face. Despite the crowd, he was comfortable and well at ease. As the crowd grew silent, he spoke.

"Brothers, fellow believers in the one true God, I come to you with full heart, and many thanks for this welcome you show me here today. I promise you that your kindness and hospitality shall never be forgotten, neither by me or by the people of my homeland. I also come to you today with arms outstretched in hope of a new unity between the peoples of Ismira and Malgeria. The revolution in my homeland has been a blessing from Allah, as the revolution in your own land was so many years ago. For the first time in many years, my people are free to follow the path of righteous purity unobstructed by the forces of satan.

But this revolution must only be the beginning, for even as we speak, our brethren find themselves oppressed in foreign lands, under the cruel yoke of the puppet rulers and false prophets. This meeting today is the start of a long road that I sincerely hope will spread unity and peace throughout the Muslim world, that we may someday be able to free our fellow believers from bondage with the help of the eternal true God. Then, the light of God would truly shine down upon us.

So join me brothers! Join the Malgerian people in praising Allah as we begin this righteous journey down the path of unity and peace."

The Imam stepped back from the podium.

As the Imam stepped back from the podium, the Caliph and the Shaykh approached him. The Caliph shouted into his ear over the applause, "Great speech holiness! If you'll just follow the Shaykh and I, we'll take the van to the palace!"

As the Shaykh, the Caliph, and the Imam climbed into the van, the mood relaxed a bit. The men finally got a chance to really meet eachother. "Assalamu Alaikum brother Imam. My name is Muhammed bin Bashir. And this man you've probably heard of before," the Caliph said as he gestured toward the Shaykh. "Assalamu Alaikum Imam Abdul-Bari. I am Shaykh al-Ismira As-Sayyid Tantawi. I am looking forward to our discussions during our visit."

The Caliph grabbed a sheet of paper with the trip's schedule on it. "This is just a loose table of events on this trip. It doesn't have to be followed in any order really. It's just a list of where I thought we should go. Let's see there's the pallace, the University of Ismira, parliament, the Revolutionary Monument, Embassy Square, Abdul Malik's (Ismira's finest resturaunt serving a 100% hallal menu of course) and we'll stop at a few Mosqes along the way. But now my brother, we must go to the pallace."

Imam Abdul-Bari smiled serenely.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, my brothers. I too look forward to our discussions, and the tour of your land's many wonderful sights. I hope one day that Malger may be as magnificent a tribute to Allah as this great haven for his followers."

"You are too kind brother Imam." Said the Caliph. The van turned off the highway and went through downtown Riyadh (the capital of Ismira). The van took a right turn into a residential area.

"This is the government quarter. All governemnt employees live in this area." The neighborhood was actually quite humble. Some people heard the van drive by and came out to greet it at their doorsteps. At the end of the road, the van came to what looked like a somewhat fancy apartment comlex with traditional Muslim/Arab architecture. The van stopped.

"This is the State Building brother. All of the affairs of the executive branch are run from here and some other office buildings near by. It's 10 stories. The top two stories are for me and my family to live in. I have my office on the eighth floor. That's where we will go to have our first meeting brother. Be ready to face the press however. They like getting shots of foreign dignitaries."

The three men left the car and went into the lobby. The lobby was basically just a red carpet leading to the elevator. The carpet was lined with tall potted plants alternating with the flag of Ismira. Portraits of great Islamic scholars lined the two walls, just above the plant and the flags so that they could be seen. The men road the elevator to the 8th floor. The doors opened to reveal the Caliph's office. It was a simple office with a beautiful view of the city and in particular, the Mosque right behind the State Building. The Mosque was the first thing that the Claiph's father built after the revolution. The office was modestly furnished with three chairs. Two in front of the desk for dignitaries and other people meeting with the Caliph, and one behind the desk for the Caliph himself. The desk was mad out of a fine Arabic wood, and there were various doccuments strewn accross it. Also, there were three phones at the front of the desk. Behind the desk, against the wall were two huge bookcases. On the walls around the room were various photographs and certificates. In one corner of the room, there was a prayer rug with an insense urn and a set of prayer beads. The Caliph sat down behind his desk. The Shaykh and the Imam sat in the two chairs in front.

"So brother Imam, do you have any questions for the Shaykh or me?"

The Imam looked around the room, taking in the sparse furnishings.

"Tell me more about this land, brother, of your glorious revolution and how Islam thrives here today in this great Muslim capital. Then perhaps we may move into deeper matters."

"Well before the glorious revolution, Ismira was called Icurio. Icurio was ruled by King Charles Brontius III. The official religion in Icurio was the national church of Icurio. This church was idolotrous and blasphemous! It considered the king to be God Himself! It was taught that blacks were the devil and only deserved to be enslaved! Any and all religious scholars, that weren't in the false, state churcch, were shot without question! This is the world that I was born into. My first memory is of my grandfather being shot in the back by the police for reading the Noble Qur'an in public! I think that this was a life changing experience for my father. He realized that he couldn't wait for Allah to deliver us from this terrible regime. He had to become the executor of Allah's will. So he started having meetings. They started out as just study groups. They'd get together in our basement and read passages from the Qur'an and discuss Islam. Over time, the meetings became more and more revolutionary. The topics started being things like How Islam is Superior to the church and Why the King is a False God. My father started teaching the noble principle of Jihad. His audience grew more and more. Our basement was filled up every night. Well the government caught on. One day I was coming home from school and I saw police cars leaving my house. I went inside and...ummm...my mother and youngest brother...were ah...I'm sorry it's still hard. They were...dead. That night, my father still had his meeting. He had been telling his followers for some time now that they should arm themselves becuase they couldn't trust the government to protect them. He told all of his men what had happened. He said that now was the time to take the power from the oppressors. His men went home and grabbed their guns. They all got together and marched on the police station, chanting sloagans along the way. They took the police station and the revolution had started! Tell me about your revolution."

The Imam had silently taken in all that was said, and now spoke.

"Your father was truly a great man, brother. I assure you that his sacrifices for Allah will never be forgotten by myself or the Malgerian people. Through his efforts the people of Allah have found a safe haven.

The great Islamic revolution in Malgeria was a less spontaneous affair. I was born into a family of status in the corrupt old society, and grew up in priviledge, unaware of the suffering of the believers in my own land. When I was seventeen, however, I began to truly consider the words of the Holy Qur'an, and I became enlightened by the grace of Allah as to the state of his followers in my land. I concluded that the only way to truly serve the one true God was to bring down the fat western puppets who defiled my land.

Taking nothing but the clothes on my back and the holy book, I fled my home to travel to the Malgerian desert, where I fell in with the nomadic tribes, preaching the word of Allah. My name spread and I gained some reputation as a holy man, occasionally serving to end long standing tribal conflicts. Soon enough, I gained a following and was finally able to start my movement to liberate the people of Malgeria. Assisted by my followers, I broadcasted my message of hope to the oppressed people, and began a campaign against the government.

For thirty years we fought bitterly against the inifdels that ruled Allah's noble people, and no less than two weeks ago, we succeeded in overthrowing them. The puppet is still in the hands of his people, awaiting his judgement by Allah and his people."

The Imam fell silent, contemplating all that had been spoken.

"A thirty year revolution?! Amazing! What bravery brother! Your people truly fought to the very end. And now, Malgeria will become a safe haven for Muslims as well. Although our revolution started in different ways, we must realize that they are both part of a larger struggle to oust any government that oppresses the believers. I believe that regardless of ideaology, Muslims must unite. That is why my father founded al-Ismira university. We have Shi'as teaching next to Sunis! It's a gathering of Muslim knowledge from all over the world! I some times spend the whole day in the library at al-Ismira. So tell me, what ideaology was your revolution? And what ideaology will your nation be? Also, how does your nation view Wahabism?"

" I can only hope that Malgeria may become as great a hub of Islamic learning and culture as your own great nation. It has long been my dream to build a great library and Muslim university in Malger. I believe that now I may finally have the chance to do so for the greater glory of the benevolent creator. I too believe that the Muslim people must set aside their historical differences and realize that we are all children of the same merciful God.

Though I follow the doctrine of the Shi'a, as do many of my people and followers, I welcome those of the Sunni sect with open arms. I believe that having the blood of the prophet Muhammad coursing through the veins only strengthens one's understanding of Allah and the holy Qur'an, though I also believe that if one studies the words of Allah through the Qur'an, Allah will grant him clarity be he of Muhammad's bloodline or not.

With regard to Salafiyyah, I advocate the practice in my nation, as the revolution was founded on the principles of a return to a true islamic state free from the corruption of the west. I believe that the only way to truly oust western corruption is through strict enforcement of Shari'a and a return to the traditions of the pious generations. To truly unite, Muslims must look back to these early days and truly realize the joy and glory of following the one true God. The revolution was merely the first step down the path of righteousness through the creation of a pure Muslim state. We have purified our government, now we must begin the process of purifying our thought and tradition. Only when we are truly pure in the eyes of Allah may we begin the great Jihad against the infidels for the glory of his name."

"Insha Allah, we shall prevail. Well I think that we're ready to move on to al-Ismira university! You'll love it there" The three men left down the elevator and went back to the van. The drove out the way they came in.

"I'll let the Shaykh tell you about the university seeing as how he is it's grand Imam."

"Well my brother, we are now going to al-Ismira university. The university was founded in 970 CE, before the creation of Icurio. When the Europeans invaded and founded Icurio in the 11th century, they turned al-Ismira into a university of Christianity. Then, when the National Church of Icurio was founded, it was converted once again to teach the lies of the occupying kaffirs. One of the first things our Caliph's father did after the revolution, was return al-Ismira to its roots. The greatest Islamic university in the world was formed! Now, we have students from all over the world learning from the greatest scholars from all over the world! We hope that once Malgeria gets all settlled, they will send their own scholars to al-Ismira. And here we are!"

Through the windows of the van, the men saw some of the most beautiful buildings in the world. there was the Mosque al-Ismira and all the different schools of the university. The Shaykh could tell that the Imam was in awe, for he had only seen al-Ismira in pictures.

"Seeing as it's friday, we must go to the Mosque so that I can lead the services I hope you don't mind."

The men entered the Masjid al-Ismira. It was filled with people of all colours and creeds and nationalities. It was simply a melting pot of Muslims from all over the world. The Caliph and the Imam found the two last empty spaces in the men's section of the Mosque. "This should be good brother." Said the Caliph. The Shaykh walked up to the platform at the front of the Masjid and sat in his chair. He turned on his microphone, "Assalamu Alaikum," he said.

"Wa alaikum assalamu!" the congregation echoed back. The Shaykh began his sermon:
"All praise is due to Allah. May peace and benedictions be upon the Messenger of Allah, his household and companions.

Fellow Muslims! Fear Allah, put your trust in Him, seek for His aid and humble yourselves before Him in order to be elevated and have a good ending in this world and the hereafter. Allah says,

“No doubt verily, the friends of Allah, no fear shall come upon them, nor shall they grieve. Those who believed in the oneness of Allah and used to fear Him much.” (Yunus 10:62-63)

Brothers in Faith! When one takes a cursory look at the series of the current world happenings one will conclude that he who claims that any concepts, movements or ideologies that do not emanate from Islam and its pristine teachings can solve the world problems and correct the wrongs should be either abnormal, sick or a conspirator who should not be trusted at all.

Islam is a pure religion that frees man from worshipping fellow creatures to the worshipping of the Creator. It affirms that real glory can only be achieved through Islam while humiliation is a result of keeping away from it. No matter what happens, it is impossible for Islam to enter a heart with all its sweetness and yet that heart surrenders to any other authority besides that of Allah. Allah says,

“Truly, the religion with Allah is Islam.” (Aal ‘Imrân 3:19)

“Whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers.” (Aal ‘Imrân 3:85)

Brothers in Islam! When we see a lot of atrocities that are being committed all over the Muslim world and we hear the agonies of those whose lands and properties are wrongly occupied and seized without anyone standing up to answer the clarion call for help being made by the victims of these atrocities, we start to ponder over the causes of this weakness that has befallen the Muslim nation, the silence of those who have the truth and the woes, division and calamities that the might of the falsehood people has brought to the humanity. If we make a good diagnosis of our condition, it will not be difficult to identify the disease. Yes, things may not be permanently good for the Muslims; they may have problems here and there, for attaining perfection in worldly comfort is illusory. It is therefore good to train oneself on how to confront attacks on Islam and the Muslims and get oneself ready to endure and stand firm without wasting time on passing commentaries that bring no benefit nor remove harm. Moreover, all these afflictions that befall the Muslim nation between now and then are mere trials with which Allah distinguishes between the good and the bad. Allah enjoins us to react whenever He tries us with good things of this world with the saying of Prophet Sulaymaan,

“This is by the Grace of my Lord to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful.” (An-Naml 27:40)

He also forbids us from reacting during afflictions like those whom He describes in this verse,

“And among mankind is he who worships Allah as it were, upon the edge (i.e. in doubt): if good befalls him, he is content therewith; but if a trials befalls him he turns back on his face (i.e. he reverts to disbelief after embracing Islam). He loses both this world and the Hereafter. That is the evident loss.” (Al-Hajj 22:11)

Brothers in Islam! Non-Muslims shall never be pleased with Muslims until they abandon their religion and their Divine Law or at least make a lot of compromise that will leave nothing left of Islam but its name only. ‘Umar came to the Messenger of Allah with a book he got from some people of the Scripture and started reading it. The Messenger of Allah got annoyed and said,

“I have brought unto you a pure and clean religion. Do not ask people of the Book anything lest they tell you the truth which you may deny and tell you a lie which you may believe. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if (Prophet) Moosa were to be alive now, he would have no option but to follow me.”

Therefore, bargaining with the religion of Islam or any of its values or established concepts is the greatest act of treachery and madness, for man’s and the society’s glory lie in their adherence to Islam, its practices and in remaining firm on that till death. So, he whom the circumstances of this worldly life has changed or that his very essence has been altered by these worldly slogans and therefore abandoned his religion, such is a disgraced person and a loser whose lot ignominy. Allah says,

“Verily, those who have turned back as disbelievers after the guidance have been manifested to them, Satan has beautified for them (their false hopes) and Allah prolonged their term. This is because they said to those who hate what Allah has sent down: ‘We will obey you in part of the matter.’ But Allah knows their secrets. Then how will it be when the angels take their souls at death, smiting their faces and their backs? That is because they follow that which angers Allah and hated that which pleases Him. So He made their deeds fruitless.” (Muhammad 47:25-28)

Islam enjoins the Muslims to stand firm in their religion. Allah says in the Qur’aan,

“And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (death).” (Al-Hijr 15:99)

The Messenger of Allah, while encouraging his companions to be steadfast and remain firm in the face of any trials used to tell them of the stories of the brave people among those who were before them. He would say,

“A ditch would be dug for one of those who were before you and he would then be put into that ditch. A saw would be brought, put on his head and cut his head into two; yet, that would not divert him from his religion. Also, a metal comb will be driven into his flesh alive and yet that would not change him from his religion.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

It is therefore surprising to see those who know the gravity of following other religions beside Islam or loving and adoring the enemies of Islam whatever the circumstances may be, to succumb to their pressures, putting one’s writings and thoughts under their control, yielding to their desires and answering their calls to smite Islam, compromising on some of its concepts and values or casting doubt on the Muslims’ educational system and the fruits of Islamic reawakening. Doing any of the above is a great sin and speaking good of it is a great falsehood.

Dear Muslims! You may be disappointed by those ideologies that carry the name of Islam and whose propagators are deluded by their wealth, popularity and lust into writing and saying strangest things about Islam with no fairness nor justice. The best we can say of these people is that they are products of western imitation that knows no difference between established values and changing situations or attributing things to other than its causes. If a person were to steal in a Masjid, these people would have called for the demolition of the Masjid or at least closing up of it in order to avoid reoccurrence as they would claim. And if a veiled woman were to commit a fraud, they would call to the abolition of Hijaab and claim that it aids fraud. They would however not support the amputation of the thief or a deterrent punishment for the veiled lady but would instead call for the demolition of the Masjid and abolition of Hijaab.

Abu Sufyaan came to the city of Madinah before he embraced Islam and entered the house of his daughter Umm Habeebah (a wife of the Prophet). When he wanted to sit on the Prophet’s bed, she folded it. Abu Sufyaan asked in astonishment,
“Are you keeping me away from the bed or keeping the bed away from me?!” She answered, “This is the Messenger of Allah’s bed and you are an idolater and filthy.”
This is a word of Umm Habeebah that contradicts the popular Arab saying, “Every girl is proud of her father.”

Umm Habeebah, by this deed of hers set a good precedent of how serious a Muslim should be in matters of his faith however minute it is even if it involves close relatives as one’s father. She did this to her father simply because he has not yet embraced Islam.

Brothers in faith! The Message of Islam is like the Prophet’s bed that should be held in high esteem and with honour and respect. Whoever allows anyone who is not a Muslim to sit on it out of shyness or because of a favour, such a person did not give Allah and His Messenger their due estimation neither did he respect his religion and his community. Hence, it is very natural to conclude that there will be no human maturity where the ties with Allah has been severed and where there is hatred for His law. What is therefore being rumoured lately that there are some ideologies that will keep a Muslim away from his religion and leave him with practising only a part thereof while he will no more have any regard for Islamic legal punishments is very dangerous and will not augur well for the humanity as a whole. But the ideologies themselves pose some questions. When has the belief in Allah become an easy issue in which denial and faith are equal? When has Islamic Monotheism and associating partners with Allah in worship become the same thing? Has the matter of faith become so insignificant that there is no more line of demarcation between permanent values and continuous happenings, between justice and injustice and between truth and doubt? If a man tells us that the earth is square or that Atlantic and sea water is sweet, we will certainly write him off as mad and stupid. How then do we react in such a way to a mistake done as regards mundane facts and not do the same if the mistake is committed as regards matters concerning Allah the Lord of all the worlds?

“Verily, those who turn away from our Signs are not hidden from us. Is he who is cast into Fire better or he who comes secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do what you will. Verily, He is All-Seer of what you do.” (Fussilat 41:40)

It is now up to the men of wisdom and truth to guide people to that which can preserve Islam for them, protect them and let them have confidence in the principles of their religion as well as their educational system and law. They should warn the generality of the Muslims against the evils of their enemies and establish for them a balance of justice in word and deed so that, they will be able to distinguish between good and evil.

Fellow Muslims! Muslim countries and established Islamic values and concepts have become targets of attack from internal and external enemies. One particular example is the land of the two Sacred Masjids. The enemies has launched a malicious attack against this country, but by the Grace of Allah, it will never surrender to those who cast doubt on its religion, values and systems, for their educational systems, ideologies and their policy of are based on the and their policy of allegiance and renunciation are all based on Islamic Faith of Monotheism. Its people will never become mouthpiece for falsehood and error which the enemy wants them to be. Allah says,

“Those who wait and watch about you; if you gain a victory from Allah, they say: ‘Were we not with you?’ But if the believers gain a success, they say (to them): ‘Did we not gain mastery over you and did we not protect you from the believers?’ Allah will judge between you (all) on the Day of Resurrection. And never will Allah grant to the disbelievers a way (to triumph) over the believers.” (An-Nisaa 4:141)

Brothers in Faith! Every nation has its policy, philosophy and ideology. And it has a special way of dealing with its problems whether it is good or not. It is therefore illogical and unfair to accuse Islam of problems it has nothing to do with and which are rather alien to it or as a result, to request the Muslims to think according to the accusers perspectives in total disregard for Islam. In order have deeper understanding of Islamic principle of allegiance and renunciation, to avoid what kept many people away from their glory and shinning history; in order to avoid making unwarranted ideological and educational compromises and avoid western subordination, we must the following points in mind:

One: That our faith is based on Islamic Monotheism, submission to Allah through obedience and abstention from associating any partner to Him. This is the correct faith besides whose no other creeds will accepted. Allah says,

“Surely, they have disbelieved who say: ‘Allah is the Messiah son of Mary.’ But the Messiah said: ‘O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.’ Verily, whosoever sets up partners (in worship) with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise to him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the polytheists and wrongdoers, there are no helpers.”(Al-Maaidah 5:72)

Two: That, it is absolutely impossible to achieve Islamic solidarity among individuals and societies while some of them hate others or detest Islam or reject some of its teachings.

Three: In order that the desired unity may be achieved, there should be concordance in the means and goals and that should be in accordance with the truth and Sharee‘ah. Any unity that takes place outside the established Islamic rules and values is a mere illusion.

Four: That the weakness of the Muslims as a nation has its source in their individual weaknesses before pressures from their enemies added to that. We are not the first nation to be tested and urged to remain firm in its religion.

Five: That our desired civilization should be based on unity, bridging the gaps between us, being proud of our religion and upon supporting our religious values and refuting the allegations against Islam and its systems. Our call should be unto the revival of Islamic unity and we should show the true picture of Islam upon which the constructive Islamic resurgence and rightful thought can be based. Allah says,

“Shall We treat those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah) and do righteous good deeds as Mufsidoon (those associate partners with Allah and commit crimes) on earth? Or shall We treat the pious as the criminals?” (Saad 38:28) "

The congregation applauded and the Salah began. After the prayers, the Shaykh approached the two men.

"So what did you think brother Imam?"

Though the Imam's face was calm, he had been extremely impressed by the sermon.

"An excellent sermon, brother. Truly a gift to all who are present here today."

"Thank you brother."

The Caliph looked somber. "The situation with The Parthians is getting worse brother Imam. I suggest we continue this visit some other time. Right now, both of our was rooms need our undivided attention. My van will be able to take you back to your plain. I'm sorry that we could not finish this historic visit. We'll continue at a later date. My salam"

Two armed body guards came to escort the Imam back to the van.
