AsSulaymaniyah, Islamaisbad
A few miles from the border with Californian-held Iran...
A dusty man in his middle forties climbs on top of small truck and begins to speak...
"General Mollshoppa has given the order... the attack will begins in 5 minutes, notify the brigade commanders, and we shall move out, be ready comrades, for today we are at war " announced 2 Star General Alexander Mofar, commanding officer of the 6th Infantry Division, the Silver Sabres of Islamaisbad.
Artillery and rocket fire punctuated the young General's words as he jumped down dismissed the rifle company, messengers and radio men as well as the few Colonels who made it to the forward operating base to hear the news. . As the general and his aides packed up their essential equipment and left the tent, he saw a sight no Islamaisbadic General had seen for over 30 years.
Hundreds of troops all in formation, every piece of supporting equipment, mounted cavalry squadrons, even a few tanks and APCs. It looked almost like a parade to the half dozen civilians who were brave enough to look out their windows -at risk of violating the blackout order - and see history in the making.
Massed ground assaults with infantry were supposed to be a thing of the past, made obsolete by today's modern weapons, smart bombs, advanced artillery, tanks and bombers, the General thought as he took a last look at the master battle map. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/grunt74/NS1/mdestmap.gif)
Well he didn't have any of those super weapons under his control, just a few old 155mm South African howitzers, no more than a battalion of tracked vehicles, and 120,000 brave young men.... ready to die.
Thankfully the troops got some rest on the train ride in, marching all the way from Karbala would have been taxing on both the men and animals.... he doubted himself for a moment, who are the real animals here, are we doing the right thing....
He cursed his military professors as he surveyed the formation from atop his camel - mounted cavalry were supposed to be obsolete, too- he thought.. this was going to be rough. He had almost no idea what kind of defense they would be facing...
He was glad to see the armored and mechanized battalions from the 1st had made their way along side his formations, but was disappointed that they wouldn't be placed under his direct authority.
He shook his had violently trying to stop his mind from wandering, and took a swig from his canteen. He spit it out.
"Who the fuck put water in my canteen!" He yelled as he opened a flask of cheap liquor and downed the entire contents.
From just over the horizon to the west, half a dozen Islamaisbadic A-10 warthog aircraft streaked overhead, followed by the contrails of the high-flying Backfire bombers and Flanker fighters. MiG-21's zig zagged and rocked their wings only 600 feet above the infantry formations.
Just behind the MiGs, the sound of Mi-35 Hind-D Attack helicopters and AH-1 Cobra escorts filled the air with a low thump-thump-thump as they made thier way towards the border. The General got the final radio command he was waiting for, and in seconds the entire ground force was moving.
All along the border, 4 other divisions placed along the border were launching their own attacks, the small Islamaisbadic Navy was launching cruise missiles at Iran based assets, and units in Afghanistan were preparing their positions.....there would be no turning back now.

The communique is set to arrive only 30 seconds before the first missiles would enter enemy airspace...
