This is Persian News Network, News for the world, from Parthia

Hello, I am Farah Aryanpour, here with Persian News Network on a special bulletin. Shah Khosru III has just announced Persian troops will be taking part in a joint training exercise with the military of the nation of Samtonia. The exercises will take place in Oman, within 50 miles of the border of Yemen. Exact numbers of troops involved are unknown, but it is estimated 10 Parthian Infantry divisions, 2 armored divisions, and perhaps one of the twenty divisions of Immortals will be taking part in the joint training. Thus far, the purpose is unknown, but is assumed to be designed for situations when nations attempt to invade us for the just and righteous policies of the Shah.

In other news, Teymorian Automotive has introduced a new vehicle for civilian use, with the amazing gas mileage of two miles per gallon......

Samtonian Task Force en-route for training maneouvers in Oman

By Ibrahim Wazeed
Associated Press
Samtonia City - A Samtonian naval task force departed at around 0900 hours yesterday from the massive naval base at Barbados. Composed of what first counts put at over 400 vessels, the flotilla was announced to be heading for Oman, for training exercises with the nation of The Parthians.

"We will tell you this- there are over 35 divisions embarked, all to simulate an inland desert assault against enemy positions," said Lt. General David Persimis. "The exercise will be completed in two shifts, wih half of the forces attacking the positions near Yemen that are held by elements of the regular Parthians ground forces. The other half will be billeted in the UAE until it is their turn for the exercise." When asked about further details, the General gave no comment, citing security concerns.

However, current sources indicate that this training exercise will be massive and is indeed the first in a round of actions designed to gain Samtonia another ally in the tense region. Sources indicate the number of divisions dispatched is much greater, currently around 40 military divisions en-route. It seems clear that 20 will be participating at the exercise ground at any given time, along with a number of naval vessels. In this light, a number of carriers are confirmed to have exited their berths.

Currently, we have no word on official response from the Granzi government on the actions happening this close to their border in Yemen. However, high level government sources indicate that this will be watched very closely by the Yemenis.

An adroit satellite opeerator would be able to see the sweat dripping off of a man's nose. A talented anlyist could see the movements of an army before they moved. But even an idiot could see that Samtonia was sending a great deal to this training exercise.

Massive transport craft were streaming into and out of two massive harbors, Salalah in the south of Oman and Muscat in the north. A huge fleet lay anchored, half the fleet supervising the offloading in the south, half in the north. And the offloading was finally nearing an end, with huge amounts of men and material flowing onto the friendly shores of Oman.

Trained, equipped, and hungry for battle. These were Samtonia's elites. These were the best led, best trained, and best prepared troops in Samtonia. Of course, from the sky, ne wouldn't know this. Indeed, the soldiers streaming towards the two bivuoc points, one near Abu Dhabi and the other near the northernmost point of division between Yemen and Oman, were therefor training exercises, which would lead many to believe they were ill trained and unprepared for the desert. On the contrary, as these were highly trained fighters who were about to get some more desert fighting practice.

Twenty divisions to the south. Twenty divisions to the north. Each section containing two artilllery/AA and six mechianzed divisions, as well as twelve infantry divisions. A total amount of nearly 16,000 fighting vehicles and 240,000 fighting men, two full aromored corps and three infantry corps in size. One to each end of Oman.

And with the training slated to begin in little more than one day, these soldiers were about to be used. To say nothing of the aircraft and naval vessels, who also were ready to join in the exercise. When Samtonia practiced, she practiced well.

[OOC- That's the vehicle and infantry numbers folks. Half north, half south. So, 32,000 fighting vehicles, 480,000 infantry and their atendent vehicles for desert fighting, plus all the supplies for that, in addition to the naval elements loitering around the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. Naval is huge amounts of transports, which will be moving back to Samtonia for more supplies, and a few hundred other vessels to help protect these transports. Oh, yes, and lots of carriers so aircraft can be used in the exercise. And one Doujin Mk.II. But just for its command and control capabilities. Any questions, just ask.]

In Muscat, the Persian forces were being prepared. Every single man had pledged himself to serve the Shah, and they had been trained for the job. Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles rumbled through the steets next to the massive M1-A6 tanks. They were outnumbered by the opposing force, with a mere 20 Infantry divisions of 20,000 men each and 2 armored divisions of 500 tanks. The Parthian air forces was activley being prepared, with F-78 fighters (Its a design from Doomingsland, I can get the stats if you want) being prepared.

The deployment was preplanned, heavy 203mm guns and other weapons were to be used to hold back the "invaders" at all costs. This exercise was going to be as realistic as possible.

Muscat, Oman. Commander Army Group North’s command vehicle
Snapping a smart salute, yet another officer strode out of the MAV that had been taken over to become Commander Charles MacGillerllian’s command vehicle. With his usual out of action due to a shattered axle, MacGillerllian was being forced to cope with the “luxuries” of the standard fighting vehicle as it rumbled down the streets of Muscat that were designated to the Samtonians. Radios squawked, maps fell crumpled to the ground, and junior officers yelled loudly over the churning engines.

“Yes, damnit, I know where we’re supposed to be headed! The northern practice is to encompass an area near the town of Aradah. And yes, I know that another corps is detached to me! Do you think I don’t know when another 80,000 men are suddenly back under me?! I’ll see when I get there. Yes, air support will be functional that far out. We’ll have them loop over a deserted stretch of Saudi desert. No, they won’t mind laddy!”

And as the assorted vehicles rumbled west towards their staging ground for the exercise, MacGillerllian wondered why exactly they were on such a tight schedule.

Salalah, Oman. Commander Army Group South’s mobile headquarters
“They did what! How the hell am I supposed to achieve my objectives with one corps less! No, it’s still desert. Fine. But don’t say I didn’t warn you!”

Field Marshall Sir James Arthur Reed slammed down a command radio in his steadily moving mobile headquarters. The noise it made was muted, causing his temper to flare even further. “They bloody sent me to this bloody desert to work with the bloody Parthians and what’s the thanks I get? An entire corps appropriated and moved to Group North! REMFs back in Nassau don’t realize what the hell I’m up against for this mission!”

A lower ranking officer tried to calm the irate nobleman down. “Sir, we’ll have far better air covereage the entire way. And at least the desert’s as dry as a bone! Also, it’s not like there’s anything out there. So we won’t be detected by them until we’re very close.”

Reed muttered still. “Bloody bureaucrats. Expecting me to bloody well get along with a bloody Scotsman….” And the entirety of Group South moved on, to an area between the borders of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Oman- but still firmly within Oman.
