Government scandal wreaks havoc
A scandal that could lead into resignations of several high-profile corporate executives as well as government members was revealed today after Dieter Carlsberg, a worker in accountant company UDP Finances and Accounting revealed to ZFB investigators (Zentrale-Finanzen und Buchhaltung-Büro, Central Finances and Accouting Bureau) that his company had been secretly laundering money from various corporate and criminal groups to election donations for United Centrist Party politicians. According to anonymous sources at least five centrist ministers and several Reichstag members are being suspected of taking illegal election funding. In most of the cases money donors were circling election funding limits, but there were also cases where organized criminal groups were bribing politicians.

The donations were used to persuade politicians to drive policies that would influence positively to their supporters, and ZFB has gathered dozens of pages of evidence to back this up. On one occasion, a UCP Reichstag member in charge of a special Reichstag commitee to investigate tobacco company influence in medical research took bribes from a well known Rheinlandistani tobacco corporation to direct the investigation away from them. Also, during the debate for a law to allow building mobile telephone network masts at inhabited areas, Rheinlandistani telephone companies bribed Reichstag members to support the law.

Already the three directors of UDP F&A have been arrested by ZFB, and according to ZFB sources more arrests are expected soon. Today ZFB, NKP (Nationale Kriminalpolizei) and Polizei did searches at UCP and UDP offices and confiscated several computers and also archives. Jürgen Kaufman, foreign minister and chairman of UCP was not available for interview.

Government scandal expands - Kaufman still missing
Racial riots in Neudortmund

Government scandal expands - Kaufman still AWOL
As the government corruption scandal (reported in first issue of RRF News) that has already led into several arrests expands, voices demanding resignation of politicians involved in the scandal are increasing among Rheinlandistanian people. Early today morning Polizei and NKP personnel arrested 19 centrist Reichstag members, centrist ministers Karl Loebeck (justice) and Hannelore Schröder (health) and 6 UCP officials for corruption and money laundering, and have also arrested dozens of local-level bureucrats and politicians for corruption.

Meanwhile, foreign minister Jürgen Kaufman is still AWOL, and he did not come to the government meeting this morning or report an absence. As all ministers are required to report absences from government meetings, Kaufman is now presumed to be missing and NKP has commenced nationwide searches for him. Kaufman is wanted by NKP and ZFB as a witness regarding the corruption case, and according to an anonymous ZFB source Kaufman knew about the donations and the corruption, and possibly was himself involved, and an arrest warrant may be issued for him. Meanwhile, chancellor Kurt-Johann Niemann has temporarily assumed Kaufman's position as foreign minister.

In his televised speech today, chancellor Niemann woved to end corruption in the ranks of the Rheinlandistani government. "I swear to God, that i will do everything in my power to wipe out corruption from every level of the government, from detectives and district attorneys to mayors and ministers!" Niemann said in his speech. Niemann also promised that government will soon initiate a special anti-corruption campaign.

Racial riots in Neudortmund
Dozens of people were arrested and at least 60 were wounded yesterday night at city of Neudortmund after a street riot broke out between members of mainstream Germanic population and the black minority. The situation started when a group of skinheads attacked a 14-year old black boy who'd been hanging in the area with his friends. The boy's friends, who escaped the attackers, went to the father of one of the boys and told him about the incident. The boy's father gathered some of his friends, who went and assaulted the skinheads. Two of the skinheads were beaten to hospital condition, but other four managed to flee the scene.

When the evening came, groups of both ethnic groups started to gather to the area. Soon, after minutes of verbal insults by both sides, the situation escalated into a full-scale riot. Police officers in the area called for backup, and several riot squads were dispatched to the area. The riot police broke up the riot by using tear gas, dogs and batons, and dozens of people were arrested and at least 60 including three police officers were wounded. The rioters destroyed and damaged shops, cars and various objects in the area and caused material damage of several hundreds of thousands US dollars.

Racial tensions on Neudortmund are high, and additional police units have been patrolling the city.

Government resigns
Today king Wilhelm IV accepted chancellor Niemann's government's letter of resignation after the government parties decided that the government should resign due to the corruption scandal that has shaken Rheinlandistani administration recently. In his speech deputy chancellor Konrad Weiss, also deputy chairman of NDP, said that:"Even though this scandal involves only few ministers in the government, this act is necessary to "clean the air".". Weiss did not comment on possible Centrist resignation from government directly, but said that:"This act is necessary to prepare for a possible change in the government".

According to Weiss, negotiations for a new government will begin as soon as chancellor Niemann returns from Dumpsterdam. Speculation has already begun on the composition of the future government. If the investigation on United Centrist Party will result in charges against the party leadership, a government change is probably in effect due to a possible reduce on UCP's support and also also possible internal chaos in UCP.

Meanwhile, search for foreign minister Kaufman continues as police search his relatives and other acquitances. According to NKP senior special agent Y. Agoda, who is leading the search it is possible that Kaufman may have escaped abroad. According to king Wilhelm's office king has impeached the foreign minister, and now an arrest warrant for him has been issued by the National High Court for corruption, money laundering and abuse of power.

OOC:Anyone willing to RP a country that acts as Kaufman's "safehaven"?

RRF correction:The king has appointed chancellor Niemann to lead the negotiations for a new government. He is very popular among Rheinlandistani people, and the corruption scandal has not directly affected him or NDP members, just Centrist and other party members.
