The first chinooks were arriving from their long voyage from the Macabee escort carriers, parked at least fifty kilometers off the coast of the new Macabee base, recently purchased from the Pacitalian government. Although not much the entourage carried twenty architects and engineers that were to get together and plan the construction of the base, which was to span over 17,500 acres of land - quite enough for a multi-arm base, including naval and infantry. Consequently, there would be some terraforming to do on the coastline for the construction of underwater submarine pens, although not nearly as extensive as the Macabea naval submarine pen, which housed two hundred and fifty submarines, one hundred of those currently off the coast of Kahta. There would also be quite a bit of construction, and thus over the next three days old vintage landing ships would be used to drop over sixty thousand soldiers who volunteered for overtime in exchange for using them as labor, as well as over twenty thousand normal laborers working for normal wages. All in all the base was scheduled for completion by the next two months...
Final Construction Plans
The Ilmatar Defensive Megalith
The largest array on the new base will be the massive RADAR complex sitting on the coast with arrays facing in all possible directions using underground storage complexes to house thousands of computers and a huge sixty megawatt energy complex which gives the RADAR a range of over one thousand fife hundred kilometers. A smaller array attached to the main RADAR complex gives the coverage below four hundred feet to the surface. The array itself will be manned by about four thousand logistical personnel and some two hundred soldiers.
Moreover there will be LIDAR arrays placed at regular intervals providing full 360 degree coverage giving defenses an extra edge in close in defenses. To aid the LIDAR there will be massive SODAR array next to the RADAR array with much the same range as the RADAR array.
All of this directly ties into the defensive comples which is composed of what are called 'blocs'. Blocs are non other than defensive emplacements running the perimeter of the base, each with two Praetorian V SAM batteries, meaning forty Praetorian Vs each, putting a total of over two hundred Praetorian V batteries on the island, thus with a capability of firing up to four thousand Praetorian V surface to air missiles in a single volley. The megalith also ties into the MetalStorm complexes with litter the area in the hundreds, prepare to shoot down looming missiles.
Vainamoinen Armed Forces Base
The Vainanmoinen Naval Base will be built in the same style as the Carthaginian naval base at Carthage - that is, in a circular fashion, able to berth the naval compliment named Task Force Finnish Love (listed later). To the right of this will be the underground naval pen housing a single wolfpack, that is ten submarines - most likely ten Toledo class SSNs.
Moreover, there will be three large airstrips, able to take heavy bombers, and seven smaller airstrips for fighters and reconaissance aircraft. Also, there will be a multitude of barracks, built as dorms, for the armed personnel and logistical personnel.
