A visit to an old friend (ANL/TIOR)

Outside Tenochitilán, México, ANL
In an adobe house...
"I need a vacation. Work has been driving me insane." Declared Quetzalcoatl..."Damn, when was the last time I took a vacation?"
"Well," interjected his girlfriend, Angelica, "if you want a vacation...You should take it."
"All right, I guess I have to keep on my sanity somehow."
He leaned over and grabbed a phone. He then dialed a number, which lead him to Vice-Premier Coyotepec's office...
"Yeah, Coyotepec, I'm taking a break. Until then, you're in charge."
He then hung up the phone and put it down. He then looked to Angelica and said, "Well, how about we go to...well...TIOR?"
"What?" She asked.
"Yeah, the Island of Rose. I have a very good, but eccentric friend that lives there."
"If there is anything about a Rosian, they're all eccentric. Sure, let's go."
"Great, let me e-mail Sergei." Quetzalcoatl got up off of the couch and walked over to his computer. After a couple of minutes of it loading and connecting to the internet, Quetzalcoatl transmitted an e-mail to Sergei Ilyanov.
Hey Sergei, what’s happening?
Well, I’ve decided to take a vacation (probably the first in my three years as Premier) and I was thinking how about I visit you and the wonderful Island. Both I and my girlfriend are going to be over, so just let me know when we can come.
Take care and hopefully see you soon,
Quetzalcoatl Nochtli

Comrade, long time no see. I didn't know you even had a girlfriend. Congratulations. Of course you're welcome here, I'm sure Frederick won't mind if a national leader stops by. Of course it'd be an un-official visit so you can share my part of the Villa to sleep in, sorry. We have much to talk about, in specific the state of the Rosian Empire. I hope we can have a good time, like old friends again.

Quetzalcoatl looked at the monitor of the computer and saw Sergei's reply. He then wrote back a quick note,
To: sergI@run.com
From: ElQuetzal@gov.in.Az
Subj: Great!
All right then, we'll see you in about a day!
He then sent it and turned around to Angelíca and said, "Cool, we're going over to TIOR. I talked to Sergei Ilyanov, he said we could stay in his villa."
"Great," she said enthusiastically, "Let's pack our...you said Sergei Iluanov? Talk about having friends in high places."
Quetzalcoatl picked up the phone and pressed a button, after 10 seconds, he spoke, "Hello, jet one of the government's charter jets ready by tomorrow. Destination is The Island of Rose." He then disconnected it.
"All right, let's pack."
OOC: Next post I make will be their arrival.

A Rosian Airport
2:30 PM
Out of the high blue sky, a small jet descended upon the Rosian air field. On board were Premier Quetzalcoalt and his girlfriend, Angelica. This much needed rest would be good for the Premier and his girlfriend. The job was extremely taxing.
"We're almost landed, Premier..."
"I'm off duty right now, just calling me Quetzalcoatl."
"Sure, ok, Quetzalcoatl. We'll land in about 5 minutes, all right?"
The plane actually would take less then 5 minutes. About two minutes later, the plane jolted as its wheels touched down on the hard pavement. As soon as the plane came to a complete stop, Quetzalcoatl and Angelica walked out of the plane and down the stairwell.

A car rode up to Quetzalcoatl, it was a silver BMW Z8, it was Sergei. He was wearing a plain t-shirt with some jeans, and sunglasses of course. It was a sunny day, record highs. It'd bother most people from other nations, not Sergei. And not really an Aztec either. "Comrade!"
He honked his horn. "Come on in, we have much to talk about. I'm thinking of taking you on a ride around town." He looked at Angelica. "And this is the lucky girl eh! A nice catch." He chuckled. "Well come on in both of you, we need to catch up old friend. You're certainly looking older, not so much of a sparkling 20."
He honked his horn one more time for fun.
((OOC: He is in his 20s right?))

Quetzalcoatl laughed and said in a half hearted manner, "Ah Sergei, you're right. I just had my 26th birthday a couple of weeks ago. A ride around town sounds pretty good, actually." He then looked to Angelica, "Yup, this is my girlfriend, she's a pretty nice lady, I think. Angelica, may I introduce to you Mr. Sergei Ilyanov - just called him Sergei though, we're all friends here." With bags in hand, Angelica and Quetzalcoatl put their bags in the trunk and then get into the car.
Quetzalcoatl was wearing his usual casual outfit - a tan linen shirt and jeans. Although some would expect him to be more casual while on vacation, Quetzalcoatl always had been more formal then his peers. Meanwhile, Angelica was wearing a white sundress. "Nice day out here," said Angelica, "the temperature here is much like home."

Sergei increased the speed. "Ah of course. We never get a cold front here. It's warm here 24/7."
Then the radio gave out a news report.
Rose International News Network
This is Alexandr Petrov in Xinjiang with good news. The capital of Xinjiang and probably the province fell today due to the combined efforts of the Chinese Liberation Front and Rosian Special Forces. Also, General Hu Shan, a major Chinese General who was leading resistance forces in the eastern provinces. Also, the provinces of Yannan and Guangdong also fell to Rosian Combined Army forces. Plus, Taiwan and Hainan surrendered to the Rosian Armada. This makes Taiwan, Hainan, Guangdong, Xinjiang, and Guangxi part of the Free Imperial Republic of China. Tibet and Fujian is estimated to fall in one day or more. This is a great day for China and the Empire. This is Alexandr Petrov for RINN.
Sergei chuckled. "Ah yes, the invasion of China. That's something that Frederick hasn't screwed over yet. As you may have noticed, the Liberal Imperialist Party holds 50% of the seats in Congress. With my party holding 30%. He figures he can invade China and look good."
He rolled his eyes. "He was right. The International Community supports him. Though he's going to push it soon. And when he does, we're royally screwed. Tell me you two, what do you think of the situation?"

"Well, honestly, I feel we shouldn't overthrow governments and foreign institutions." Angelica said, "However, in certain cases, it is acceptable. I almost got an "F" in the University of Mazatlan in my political science class, but, the thesis was good enough and the professor couldn't fail me."
Quetzalcoatl was a bit more serious with this issue, "It depends on the circumstance. In cases of human rights violations and national threats, it's very acceptable. However, there are times where nations do not deserve such treatment. Although I and Vice Premier Coyotepec voted against it, the ANL conducted operations in Ottoman Khaif and our spies were caught. Not a good situation. I didn't feel OK should have been meddled with."

Sergei shrugged. "I personally agree with the Premier here. But Hattensberg wants to bring "glory" and "victories" to the Island. Personally, I think we should focus inward. Ah well."
The car started to enter the city. The city was beautiful, a metropolis. Buildings upon buildings, and the river started to appear to. The Rosian River that divided the city in two. Ah well. Sergei looked at one of the old buildings. "Hm. That used to be Red Headquarters during the Revolution you know. So much has changed."
The car passed a grander building. It was a skyscraper, it was large. A red flag with the Rose in the middle and the hammer and sickle in the left corner was hung. "Now this is my Party's Headquarters. We have 30 seats in Congress, but the Hattenberg's has 50 seats, half."
Sergei sighed. "Politics. Ever since Hattensberg has gained power, the Nationalist Party has gained 5 extra seats and the Roman Internationalists died. Plus we lost half of our seats due to elections. It's foreign influence that did the trick. That, and gradual liberalization of the market."
He chuckled. "Both were my fault. What do you think of the current Government?"
Aztec National League
05-03-2005, 00:18
Quetzalcoatl looked over to the old building, which Sergie pointed out as being the old headquarters of the Rosian Revolution. He laughed and said, “Well, it looks more professional then what the Aztecs had in their revolution. Where I live now is where our revolution’s headquarters used to be, except, it was dilapidated and dirty back then.”
The conversation then turned to Rosian politics. “Well, for obvious reasons, the ANL government preferred the policy of your party. The ANL government also looks down upon imperialism, however, that is the only problem we have. The nation’s civil and political rights are quite extensive.”
Angelica then asked, “How does the Rosian government see us? And what type of foreign influence were you talking about?”
The Island of Rose
05-03-2005, 03:37
Sergei chuckled. "Yes, it's called liberal Imperialism. Freeing nations in the name of the Rose! Hah!"
He turned to Angelica and answered her question. "Simple. As the Island opened itself to foreign products, they wanted more. The problem was that the Rosian system didn't allow for anything to be foreign. The Island provided everything. Food, water, toys, even porn." He snickered. "But of course, the Rosians wanted more. And since the People willed it, liberalized laws were passed in Parliament."
He chuckled. "And as for the Rosian view on the Aztecs, the same as usual. Allies. I can confidently say this since I'm now in charge of Foreign Affairs."
The car started entering Embassy Row. Row upon row upon row of Embassies lined up, with their respective banners hanging. And in the middle was the imposing Presidential Villa. But first the Aztec Embassy. "This is your Embassy yes?" Sergei asked.

Angelica listened to what Sergei was saying and said, “Hmm, state owned porn production? What are some nations that are importing into the Island?”
Quetzalcoatl turned to the Aztec embassy. It indeed was one of theirs; the socialist flag waved on a flagpole and on the banner, the Diplomatic Core’s motto “Achieving Peace through Peace” showed proudly. Quetzalcoatl looked on and said, “Yup, that’s defiantly it, I wonder how Malcolm is doing. I haven’t talked to him since our Foreign Affairs Minister could reassume the position. He had to take over as Vice-Premier after the Vice-Premier was injured in a car wreck.”
Angelica, meanwhile, never saw the Aztec Embassy in TIOR. She looked at it and asked Quetzalcoatl, “How many people work there?”
“About 150, the Premier said. 30 of them are ISPA agents, providing protection of the embassy. Normally, we try to get some of our military troops in, but, we felt it wouldn’t be necessary in this case.”

Quetzalcoatl then turned to Sergei and said, "So, how's everything with you. Good, I hope."

Sergei smiled. "I'm still married, I'm holding down a high-paying job, I can start a Revolution if I wanted to, and I'm still sexy."
What? He is.
The car pulled over the Villa. Outside were two guards looking fancy and whatnot. He escorted the Premier and his woman to the main room of the Villa... which looked very important and whatnot. It didn't have the many guns it had last time, no. It has European Coat of Arms now. England here, France there. Spain in the corner alone.
Of course.
Sergei chuckled. "As you can see it has been re-decorated."
Enter Frederick von Hattensberg, Imperial President of the Imperial Commonwealth of The Island of Rose.
Here's his picture! (http://www.geocities.com/veldes1/karl.jpg)
Frederick shook the Premier's hand. "Sergei, you didn't tell me the Premier of the National League was coming!"
Sergei rolled his eyes. "He's a close friend Frederick, he's not on diplomatic duty."
Frederick scoffed. "Well this is my house, and you live here. I think I have a right to know."
Sergei chuckled. "It's our house Hattensberg, don't forget."
Frederick shook his head and mumbled. "Fine, just don't ruin the carpeting..."
Exit Frederick.
Sergei turned to Quetzolcoatl. "What do you think of him Comrade?"

Quetzalcoatl, although a little surprised not to be greeted, said quietly to Sergei, "Well, he sure does seem a little uptight. Doesn't seem like a typical Rosain. And for the decorations, it defiantly has a more imperialist feel to it."
Angelica, a little perplexed, asked, "You still live here? Well, obviously, I mean that's good they let you stay, I know when the ANL changed its Constitution, the hardliner communist party, the Soviet Republican Party, wanted us to move out so they could completely nationalize the estate and make it the home of the next Premier. The majority party (Socialist Labor Party, Premier Quetzalcoatl's party) wouldn't allow it, since it was given to Quetzalcoatl as a gift after the revolution, and in any case, Quetzalcoatl was re-elected and that settled that issue."
Quetzalcoatl then asked, "Oh, so how is Mrs. Illyanov*?"
*OOC: Hope I spelled that right.

11-03-2005, 01:17
Sergei chuckled. "Yes Angelica. The Ministers, or now Chancellors, live here with the President to insure easier cooporation. And whatnot. A little fact about the Villa, it used to belong to the Mr. Ilyanovastein, the man who used to run the Island before the Revolution." He looked at Quetzalcoatl. "Yes. He has a bit more German then Rosian in him. But there are times when the Rosian genes in him pop up. Don't mind him, he may seem like a fool but he is a smart man... and so am I."
A smirk. "And as for the wife, she is fine. We have our arguments sometimes but eh, in the end we make up. Which is a good thing, we would've killed each other by Rosian standards." A slight chuckle. "So when did you and Angelica meet? And how? And where? And why did she choose you of all people?" He said the last question in a joking matter.

11-03-2005, 01:33
Quetzalcoatl nodded and said, “Yeah, he seems to be more business than fun, but even the most serious people have to let their hair down a bit, or they’ll lose it, among other things.”
With the change in conversation, Quetzalcoatl continued in, “Good to hear things with your wife are still good. Of course, everyone has their arguments. And about Angelica, well, remember when we played soccer during your visit to the ANL. She was one of the people in the crowd and before you and I left, I talked to her for a couple of minutes and a few days later, me and Angie started to go out to lunch and a few diplomatic events. We “officially” (he said this with a small chuckle) started going out about six months ago…”
Angelica than said, “Yeah and why do I go out with him?” Laughing, she said “well, he needs something else to think about and concentrate on aside from work. Before he had me, Quetzalcoatl would spend about 16-17 hours a day in the office. I had to get him out of that rut and get him to have fun and get out and spend time with me. Besides, he’s a great guy, nice looking, too, in my opinion.”

Sergei snickered. "He doesn't look that good to me."
He continued. "Well enough joking around! We've been standing here too long. What do you want to do? We have many things on the Island, anything. We can go walk along the river, see the roses, hit the stores, go to a museum, or visit Ft. Rose. We have access. Or we can just walk along Embassy Row, something's always going on."

Angelica laughed too, while Quetzalcoatl rolled his eyes, “All my hard work and exercise hasn’t paid off, I guess” he said sarcastically. “Well, how about we walk along the river, and then see Ft. Rose? What do you thing, Angie?”
Trying to bargain her way to see what TIOR had to offer in its stores, she said “I have no problems with that, as long as we do get to see the stores later.”
“Sure, that sounds find with me, how ‘bout you, Sergei?”

Sergei nodded and escorted them towards his car. Out of Embassy Row, across the river. They then arrived on the outskirts of Rose City and into the highway again. It was full of cars of course, but right next to the highway was a beautiful plain. Miles of roses covered and birds sored and whatnot. Then they arrived on a small turn which Sergei took.
Now the scene was this. A big gate with a guard on it, Sergei of course was cleared to enter. Now they were in the middle of the Fort, which was freakishly big. It held two Rosian Armies, probably even more. It handled all kinds of training so it was pretty big.
Sergei got out of the car and opened the door for both occupents. "Welcome to Ft. Rose. What would you like to see first? We have basically everything here."
Aztec National League
19-03-2005, 00:32
Quetzalcoatl looked around Ft. Rose. It indeed was massive, larger than any ANL base, save for possibly Veracruz Naval Base…No…this had to be larger, and according to intelligence reports, Veracruz was one of the largest in the world (OOC: No, I’m not going to back that up IC, it’s just to prove a point.) Quickly, in his mind, Quetzalcoatl thought…have to say something intelligent…ok, got it… “Damn, this is huge!” Interested in seeing what type of weaponry they had, Quetzalcoatl said, “Well, can we see the quartermaster’s inventory? I’m curious to see what we’re up against.” With that, he chuckled.
Angelica looked around and said, “How much money does it take to run this base? I assume it would be astronomical.”
The Island of Rose
19-03-2005, 01:25
Sergei chuckled. "A lot of money, yes. You see there are eight of these bases and they house all the armies, fleets, and squadrens of the armed forces. But the Navy usually dock at independent ports or the small Island you saw on the way here. That's where the Home Fleet resides, 501 ships. It's led by the Hattensberg Class Super Dreadnaught, but enough about that."
A Soldatoya (the Rosian version of the American Humvee) rolled up in front of them. There was a gunner manning an RHM-7A. Sergei chuckled. "That's one of the weapons we use. It's called the RHM-7A. Rosian Heavy Machinegun, Version 7, Army Issue. As you can see it looks slightly like an M2 but has a thicker barrel. It uses a 15mm bullet and consists of blended metals. This allows full penetration power. Anywho, let's get in."
Sergei escorted the couple inside and himself. The Soldatoya started heading towards the quartermaster's armory. Along the way they passed a bunch of soldiers doing a basic obstacle course. Then a turn and they were at the quartermaster's!
Sergei escorted them inside. And inside were boxes of everything, with pictures and statistics of the weapons. They were in posters above and below were the boxes with the weapons. Think of it like a freakishly large closet with guns everywhere. The quartermaster was Harold Ford. Yeah... meh.
"Sergei Ilyanov is here! Soldiers attend hut!" All the soldiers that were working inside suddenly flew at attention. Sergei was a real hero in TIoR.
Sergei chuckled. "At ease. Soldiers, this is Premier Quetzalcoatl and his girlfriend Angelica. The Premier would like to see all the weapons we use. I think you should show them. But I'll let the Premier choose what he wants."
Harold smiled. "Yes Sergei." He pointed to a wall full of posters and boxes. "Test them out if you want in the shooting range outside." He pointed to a window full of soldier shooting weapons. Of course it wasn't heard because they were inside.
(OOC: http://s9.invisionfree.com/BOOMtech/index.php?showtopic=2

Aztec National League
19-03-2005, 02:40
Quetzalcoatl nodded to the quartermaster and looked over the guns. As he looked over the Rosian guns he couldn’t help notice the unique nature of Rosian weaponry. The ANL’s weapons were all modeled after Russian weaponry. Curious, he picked up an RAR-9C and said, “Ehh, I’ll try this one. Certainly better than the AK-47s we had in the revolution.”
He then turned to Angelica, “Do you want to go out there or would you prefer to stay in here?”
She looked to him and said, “As long as I can shoot too.”
Surprised, he said, “Well, sure. When did you get interested in guns?”
She looked over to Harold and said, “I’ll try out a .44 Colt.”
Once they had the guns, they got earphones and went outside with the weapons. Quetzalcoatl stepped up first to the testing range and pointed the RAR-9C at the first target…pulled back on the trigger and fired into a wooden target. Although it had been a couple of years since he fired a gun, he still had a great shot. He still remembered JWI weapons training. Although brutal, it was effective.
After nailing several targets and a round of ammunition, Quetzalcoatl lowered the weapon, looked at his shots and was rather happy with the result. He stood aside while Angelica took her turn at the shooting range.
Raising the .44 Colt to eye level, she positioned her self, aimed and fired. She then fired again and again, repositioning her self, then aiming and firing. After she ran out of ammunition, both she and Quetzalcoatl looked at the target. “Whoa, uhh…good shot?” Stammered the Premier. She shot with almost perfect accuracy, even firing closer than the Premier. “Damn, when did you start using guns?” He asked her in astonishment.
“Well, when I was about 13, my father taught me how to use a gun. He thought I might need to know how to fire one.”
The Island of Rose
19-03-2005, 02:58
Sergei clapped his hands, but it sounded almost in a sarcastic tone. "Very good comrade." His Russian accent was especially showing now. "Of course I can do better." A smirk. Usually Sergei smirking when there's a bunch of guns around mean that something bad is going to happen, that or Sergei is going to do something insane.
Sergei entered the armory again. Clashing could be heard and the sound of metal colliding too. A minute later, there is Sergei armed with an RPG-7 ready to fire. "I bet I can blow it apart!" Then comes a bunch of soldiers bum rushing Sergei not to fire. As he was dragged inside the armory, he was given a smaller gun... by his standards. It was the ROICW-1A. The gun of Special Forces.
Sergei mumbled. "Bah..." But he recomposed himself. "Ah yes. This is the ROICW-1A. The Rosian version of the American OICW. As you can see it looks quite different. And if you were holding it you'd notice it is much lighter."
He walked towards the firing range and released a burst. He did okay, hitting near the center. Then he fired one of the ROICW-1A's 20mm air-burst grenade, hitting with perfect accuracy. "As you can see it works. You want to try it Premier? Or would Angelica like to shoot it? Or we can visit another part of the Fort. There's much left to see."

19-03-2005, 03:21
The Premier didn’t know wither to laugh, run or simply stay put. He leaned over to Angelica and said in a low voice, “This is going to be interesting.”
“You think?” She asked sarcastically.
They watched Sergei fight with the solders for the RPG-7, and having to settle for the ROWIC-1. They watched him fire into the target, then obliterating it is true Russian-Rosian fashion.
Quetzalcoatl looked to Sergei and said, “Hmmm, maybe I shouldn’t, haven't taken any training with grenades. How about we see the training grounds?”
OOC: lol, you seem to have the ability to make any RP into a comedy.

(OOC: Well you shoulda seen it coming ;) )
Sergei escorted the couple to the Soldatoya. A turn here in there and they were at the training grounds. Some were running the obstacle course, others were working on their marksmanship. And others were learning hand-to-hand, it was a very diverse mix. The first stop of course was the obstacle course.
A Rosian obstacle course was brutal, to say the least. Since the Rosians had a small army they had to train them to near perfection, and this was just the normal units. Sergei stepped out and escorted the two out. "Ah it looks like a platoon's about to run the course." He said.
The platoon started running! The first part were tires which was pretty simple... then the hard part would begin. A long empty track of land. Very long. They have to run through it, the catch? They'd have to avoid "fake" artillery shells. They don't kill... they just really really hurt, and are very very loud. After the platoon avoided the shells by some chance of God, they had to fire their rifles at a target. The catch? They had to hit the middle with every shot, every thirty of them. Luckily they were allow to use single-mode, special forces had to do it on full auto while the target was moving.
Then they had to climb over a few walls while being shot at with paintball guns. Of course they all survived. Then they did standard army things, crawling through tunnels, jogging and the like. Then came the last part. They had to swing over gaps and swing to another rope, if they didn't swing over on the rope they would fall and have an insane amount of pain. Of course this was only for the first three weeks. Then it was all over... and the Platoon survived, it was their third week of course.
Sergei chuckled. "Ah yes. As you know the Commonwealth doesn't really have the biggest Armed Forces. So we make that up by giving them almost impossible training. The Rosktai, aka Rosian Special Forces, have it harder then this. Tell me, do you want to give it a try?"

OOC: Sorry dude, I completely forgot to post.
IC:
Quetzalcoatl Nochtli (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y50/Spectrechris/randy_castillo.jpg) knew it would be a better idea not to do the course. It was harder than what the ANL used, for, anyone, for that matter. The first part, he could do easily, tires were no big deals, and the second part, well, and he could do that too, if it weren’t for the artillery shells. Damn, that looked terrible. The shooting part wouldn’t been a problem, except the requirement of 100% accuracy. He had a good shot, but it wasn’t absolutely perfect. But, perhaps, the biggest actual fear of Quetzalcoatl was the swinging thing-ami-gigier they had to do. Never had Quetzalcoatl swung like that before, and he had no intention of doing it now. Indeed, it was considered to be shameful if an Aztec were to give up a physical challenge, but, this was beyond a challenge – this appeared to be utter suicide, yet, the Rosian troops were doing it before his eyes. Hell, a couple of them were laughing among themselves. Could it be possible? Quetzalcoatl, although certainly able to do a military training run, wouldn’t been able to run this gauntlet. Although raging on the inside, Quetzalcoatl smiled and turned to Sergei, “Uhh, I’m not for sure if I would be able to do this. I don’t want to risk permanent injury or death. Just to ask, how long have these troops been training? They’re amazing!”

Sergei chuckled. "Nah. The most you'd get is a broken bone."
A Sergeant looked at Sergei. "So why don't you do it... err... sir?"
Sergei looked at the Sergeant and smiled. "Because I'm not stupid." He looked back at the Premier. "They've been training for three weeks. This is the last week they do basic training. For the next three weeks the learn more advanced skills, and for the last three weeks the other Platoons in their class have a massive wargame outside the city in the Rose fields. Then if they want to specialize in something such as sniping or driving, they come back here."
He cleared his throat. "And as already know, we have a very small Armed Forces. Thus why we do our training this brutal. What else do you wish to see? The Fort is big as you can see so, pick."

Quetzalcoatl took particular interest in Sergei’s comments. Although thinking the same question, he chose not to ask.
