ANL to abandon market socialism in favor of centrally planned socialism...

Today in the Soviet Congress, the majority party, the Socialist Labor Party (SLP) and the Third Minority party, the Soviet Republican Party (SRP) have joined forces to abandon the ANL's current economical system, which is market socialism, or under its media name, "public enterprise." Under this system, the state had control of what were considered "vital industries" and left the "non-vital industries" open for the free market. However, now, the Soviet Congress is ready to pass legislation that would re-nationalize all businesses except the media and jewelry. Television/Movies, Radio, Book and magazine publishing, and music will remain open to private individuals.

The bill, S.S.B. 289, has passed congress (95-20), despite the complete objection of the Libertarian Confederate Party, and the Premier is expected to sign it. Even if he vetoes it, the veto can, and most likely will be overturned by the Congress.

Although gradual, the changes to the economy will be rapid. This is partially due to the fact that the ANL is already a socialist nation, although some private enterprise does exist.

This is expected to cause massive protests in the states of Quintana Roo and especially Panama, in which there is a secessionist movement.

The Second Minority Party Leader, Congressman Izel Tetl (LCP - Quintana Roo), asked in disgust "We already live in economic totalitarianism, are civil and political rights next?"

"No, the SLP will strive and always fight for more civil rights." Said Majority Leader Jorge Arroyo (SLP - Nayruit.)

"This is the beginning of a new era. While the LCP and secessionists might be afraid of this change, we are merely living in stronger accordance to what is right." Commented Third Minority Party Leader, John Kirkland (SRP - Durango.)

Critics of this plan say centrally planned socialism doesn't work...Unfortunate for them, the ANL will have to find out on its own.

Regardless of how the Aztecs take this change, Dr. Darius Wellington, the ANL's Foreign Affairs Minister, will be quite busy over the next couple of days.

OOC Edit: Let's keep this intelligent, can we. Please no "This is stupid, damn liberals" or assorted base comments.

As expected, Premier Quetzalcoatl Nochtli signed the "State Nationalization of Industries Act of 2005" (S.S.B. 289.) However, despite his ratification of the bill, the Premier had these words to offer:

"The nationalization of industry is a major issue. If this procedure were to be botched up, then thousands, if not millions of people will be harmed unnecessarily. However, if this is done right, then all people will benefit from this effort and movement for equality.

I support this plan because it embodies a goal, an ideal that the government of the ANL is trying to obtain, total equality. While it will be impossible to satisfy every need and want, this will allow for the greatest good of all society. Through this program, the government will be able to ensure total employment and a production rate that meets our production possibility frontier, and possibly raise the bar even higher.

With the issue of nationalization comes the issue of specialization. The rights and dignity of the individual must not be compromised. Therefore, I will tell all people now, you will not be placed in some monotonous job and acting as an insignificant cog in the machine. Your contribution to our society will be much more appreciated by all parties if you are good at what you do and you put forth effort and enjoy it. Therefore, you will be in charge of where you work, as long as you are working and contributing.

I know many in the international community will have much to say. Some of them will laud us for our steps. Others will condemn us, and some will even threaten us. We will not back down from our stance; we have every right to operate as we wish to, just as you have every right to operate as you wish to. Do not tread on us and futilely attempt to enforce your system on us, and we will not tread on you and force our system on you. We can live in peace, and we will advocate peace, but we will defend ourselves, with the backing of our allies, if need be.

We only seek to improve our lives and the whole society of the Aztec Union and to maintain peace around the world. We do not wish to wreak havoc with our neighbors.”

Comrade, how are you! The Rosian Embassy in Mexico City hasn't been giving us much information. We're an Empire now, look at the paper we're using. Anyway personally, you must give the People some private industries. Your economy will freeze, just like the Rosian economy did. Of course we now have free enterprise with restrictions, but that's due to the Imperial Congress. But personally, do not restrict the People's right to own a business, they get mad. Ask a Rosian and you'll see. By the way, you should visit sometime Premier, we have much to discuss. Oh and we are officially neutral on the matter.

The ANL is appriciative of Macisikan's words. While we may have somewhat different systems, we hope the ANL and Macisikan will develop diplomatic relations in the future.

Even though we are moving away from market socialism into a centrally planned system, we will be looking at other systems of similar nature. Indeed, a Worker's Co-operative sounds good. However, if we do make that jump, it must be an gradual change.

We congratulate ANL in a move to strengthen itself. however we hope they do not move to close to the corrupt capitalism system.

We thank you for your kind words. We will be moving further away from the capitalist system. Although already socialist, private enterprise was beginning to have the ability to manipulate the economy, so we decided to go forth to a centralized system.

"Indeed, you are correct, while our system is going to be almost entirely centralized, the only industries that will not be affected will be the media and jewelry. In addition, we will make our system so people can specialize and have pride and joy in their work. It is our goal to serve the people and better them, not stymie development or the people's minds. Aside from that, I personally intend to visit the Island and hopefully, much will come out of it. I and the rest of the ANL look forward to continuing the friendship between our nations."

If the people desire centrally planned socialism, it is their sovereign right to enact it. So long as civil and human rights standards remain intact during the transition, Krioval remains supportive. Dear ANL Comrades,
We the People's Republic of Leniniskova stand in soldarity with your Socialist Revolution and your Socialist Construction. We would like to offer our diplomatic, economic and military support to the ANL.

The Communist Worker Party of Leniniskova, lead by Marshal Xian Sun Li wishes to express their fraternal greetings. We are a small Socialist country which has recently thrown off the chains of colonial oppression in our Revolution. We are building through arduous struggle a Socialist and Communist Society. We are guided theoretically by the Science of Marxism-Leninism, and by the great strength and determination of the Working class and Peasantry never to return to the dark days of colonial capitalist oppression. Our People are living happy lives in the embrace of the Party and their Beloved Leader Chairman Xian Sun Li, Marshal of the valiant Revolutionary Armed Forces.

Our Revolutionary Armed Forces are instrumental in the Defense of our Socialist Republic, Land and Agricultural Revolution and the Revolutions in Science and Industry.

We recently have had to make allowances for small family owned businesses who only emply family members. These private enterprises are regulated and taxed according to profits. There will be no private enterprise in Public controlled sectors. This measure is a short term solution to a longer term struggle. Our Brave Proletariat has fought too hard and struggled for too long for their Socialist Revolution for it to once again return to the dark days of capitalism.

Yours,
Ambassador Mr. Zo Sun il

Greetings to the People’s Republic of Leniniskova,

The Aztec National League welcomes the nation of Leniniskova into the international community and the socialist world. Although much age separates our two nations, we had to go through a much similar process in our nation’s development. The ANL has always been socialist leaning, and we had to struggle to develop to where we are now. Your support for our cause and your economic, military and diplomatic commitment is very much appreciated, and we would like to extend our hand in friendship and offer the same.

We prefer free market lassez-faire capitalism. Socialism is meant for supporting scum elements deserving of death and are best left to die on the street. We don't have any social welfare, democracy, or other left wing economy destroying wastes. However, you should have centrally planned socialism, since your economy will fall apart and leave us with one less competitor.
