DA's Dark Age

Drizzts Army

About a few days ago, the capitol of Drizzt's Army was nuked by a insane Free Drizzt Legion sub captain, the death toll was 800,000 with 2 million in other DA Hospitals for treatment. The first settlement of Drownin is now ashes on the ground, the only buildings left are: A 50 foot tall wall of the Heller and Cabron HQ, an old church which is black and torn, and finally, the old statue of Drizzt Do'Urdern, which is still standing over the rubble and ash, the fallout went inland, causing the wounded in the farmlands in that area. Dean and his Political staff are all gone, now his Generals struggle for power in the newly desginated capitol, New Cahoon City, the third largest city in DA. Because of the power struggle, Deans Generals start to form small states of their claim, each wanting power for himself, 10 states are formed, with the 4 Small Islands forming one goverment. Zooigedom has a beach which is now under their control.

Six hundred thousand soldiers had landed and by now had established quite a stretch of the beach-head; the Praetorius general in command of the situation readied his forces for a push inland. The air force was already in on this, and naval fleets prowled through the seas, alert and watchful. Daily now, fighters took off and flew strike sorties to weaken the land that the land forces would sweep through.

Meanwhile, a defense agency diplomat named Nathan West was recalled from his current duties and journeyed to New Cahoon City, where he sought to broker an agreement with the islands-state.

"As it stands now, rivals to your power, to your stability, to your every existence are everywhere; you surround them but do not outnumber them," he began. "It would be folly to allow this to continue."

He had his assistents set up a diagram with forces disposition, and taking one of those newfangled laser-pointers he had recently bought, pointed at a yellow state, which was labelled Triton.

"Our forces have established a considerable beach-stretch here, and soon there will be six hundred thousand soldiers, more arriving each month, pushing forward into the region. Our drive will be relentless, and will not be stopped. An all-out air assault will bring the enemy to their knees even before our tanks roll in. All that is yellow...will fall." He tapped the keypad on his laptop, and the yellow changed to white.

The laser pointer then shifted to the purple; specifically, to the south and south-western regions.

"If we want to make any sort of permanent headway, though, we have to do more than that. One campaign will attract the attention of many; that is not to say we will not still triumph anyways, but our progress may be hindered. I am seeking for your forces to fight your rivals by landing on the mid-south and south-western shores; we can provide any air and naval support if you are lacking. Push through and take land on the western edge, where we will meet and then drive deep into Kent, and all of the purple. By these means, the enemy will be lessened and the constant threat to your resistence reduced. What say you?"

At the same time, messages were also sent to Hairto (cyan), requesting a non-aggression agreement for the present; there need be no bloodshed as Zoogiedom's attention was not turned on it. Hairto was reminded that they would simply be crushed if they did not comply.

The Prime Minister for the United Islands of Ulysiss (name of the island states goverment) looked at all this, the diagrams and all about what these Zooige officials had in mind. He thought for a second

"Seems like a good plan, but if I know these rival leaders well, they are gonna be using guerillia warfare for this, the Drizzt Mts. in the south are terrrible around this time of year, heavy snow and even your tanks can be destroyed easliy with the heavy snow, these mountain guerillas I seen are very tough in the mountains. Everything else thou seems like a good plan" he described

Hairto laughed at the threat, but signed the non-agression pact anyways, they are not in the shape to fight a war since their military is mostly a irregular army

"Wow..." said president steiner in disbelief, "Is it possible for us to get aid in?"
"We don't know yet, this might be the end of the war or it just may keep going. We still don't know what happened to the Dean's government, their policy twoards us now or even if they still exist" said the secretary of defence
"Well go ask Zoogiedom, there in there already"
"No problem sir"

Secretary Dailey listened to what the Anaressans had to say, and then gave them a quick situation report. "Dean's government as far as we can tell doesn't exist; it seems they've been annihilated by the nuclear explosion. As for aid, it would be welcome; we intend to occupy the country and restore Drizzts to power. Right now, the defense secretary doesn't envision a hugely prolonged and bloody war, but you never know. The occupation isn't expected to be an easy one, and all the forces you can spare are more than welcome."

"Well, that's good to know. Our forces aren't the most numerous in the world; they're not as suited to open-field combat than they are to urban and guerrila warfare. We'll have our SpecOps guys help you in whatever capacity they can. As for the mountains, we'll avoid them if at all possible - we have large aircraft to drop off tanks on the other side. It won't be a pretty process, but I think we have a fair amount of air superiority over the region. If there are numerous guerillas in the mountains, we'll try airstrikes against them, biding until there's better weather, I s'pose...I'll have to check up with the Generals."

Hairto

A wise decision. You will know peace for the present while your rivals feel the blow of our war-hammers. We will remember your compliance, rest assured.

While in The Free Drizzt Legion HQ

Drizzt personally punished the sub captain who fired the nuclear weapon at Drownin, the sub captain due to his insane nature has been ordered to be killed for crimes against his countrymen by killing thousands. This execution will be done by Drizzt himself. It was found out earlier that the sub captain dealed with some former LLF arms dealers, and has been giving secrets to Dean's forces about Free Drizzt Legion hideouts, bases, and forces, but turned his back on Dean when he ordered his sub to be hunted down and destroyed.

Back in the Confrence room

"We shall help anyway we can, we want this bloody war over with, too many lives have been gone and too many blood spilt, we hope this will end soon." declared the Prime Minister, bowing to the Zooige Delegate

"Thank you." The emissary bowed in return, and left.

The thud of a fleet of helicopters announced the arrival of dozens more fresh troops, and with them theater commander M. Tullius. Tullius was a seasoned warrior with much fight yet left in him, and his aura was great and fierce.

General Kanus, or Kane as he was called often, was the man whom he sought. He turned to an abitrary soldier passing by and commanded, "Bring me to Kanus." The soldier was a young private, and quite startled and terrified of Tullius's voice. Unable to speak, he pointed to where the General stood surveying his men.

Tullius walked to the General, who saw him from afar and beckoned him to observe their progress.

"We are ready, sire," said Kanus confidently. "We await only thy word. What news comes from the war-room?"

Tullius observed the soldiers setting up and preparing for battle, and nodded in satisfaction. He saw on each soldier's face the realization of the coming of war, but what he saw was a thirst and astounding determination, not fear or dread. He had not been let down.

He turned to Kanus. 'Let the blows of our war-hammers come henceforth unrelentingly!' he said, and without a farewell he left.

"He likes to talk funny sometimes," General Kanus then explained to one of his lieutenants, who was standing next to him, mouth agape. "Tullius has an...interesting personality."

The lieutenant nodded slowly, and returned to his post.

"But you heard him. Move out."

The airstrikes had indeed met with satisfactory success. There were now airfields dotting the occupied land, and the air force, thus far having contributed little in comparison to the war, was more than happy to mobilize. The roar of C-240s could be heard thousands of feet in the air as they ferried troops from base to base, and with every landing of a C-71 behemoth, trucks scrambled out onto the runway to receive its fresh supply of ammunition, food and necessities, and men. Fighters themselves were not lacking - ZaS-27 aircraft were still flying constant combat air patrol, intruding into enemy airspace and eliminating all threats in the vicinity. ZaS-42s were now flying near-constant strikes; pilots often joked that 'at any given moment, another SAM battery is being annihilated.' There was indeed much truth to that statement. Supply lines were attacked; bases obliterated, enemy forces destroyed.

Army helicopters were of great assistance. Attack helicopter fleets thundered through areas freshly hit by airstrikes or areas unpenetrable by airstrikes, and rained hellfire on their foe. Large AC-130 gunships combed through heavy pockets of unsupported resistence, strafing them with their cannons, in advance of the army's entry. The campaign was nothing short of explosive.

And now the order had come down; the decision made by the defense secretary Dredon himself. Two hundred more soldiers were coming, bringing the total to a million combat troops committed to the area. A considerable amount had not yet arrived, and the present army was intent on making room. Ten minutes after Tullius departed, the opening salvo began: helicopters roared into the air with heavy ammunition and in some cases teams of soldiers, and tanks after them rolled forth. The front lines were rapidly being extended, and a ferocious display of firepower was set to begin.
