Lord Khustanov walks over to President Jeffferson.

"Rest assured Mr. President that Rumera will come to your protection. We are moving the Northern Fleet to protect the island as we assume that will be the primary source of attack. It would also be best for us to bring in airwings and Anti-Aircraft batteries. However, I must confess of the latter item will prove to be more difficult"

At the Imperial Palace

Emperor Vankov sits at the oak table and stairs at his generals and admiarls.

"Gentleman, our military is mobilizing for war. What are the latest reports? The North Fleet is moving to protect The Dubocratic Union. So far it is only an expansion of the current air attachment and a navel force."

Vankov: "What are our weaknesses?"
"Well sir, the fleet wil take a day or two later to manuver into position as they were originally heading towards Novaya Russia for attack. Thus we think we can hold off an assult and minimize a missle attack to a degree. We're waiting for news from President Jefferson if he needs additional troops."
Vankov: "What about the internal situation?"
"This sir is for concern. We fear that The Guilds may quickly use the island as a diversion and proceed to attack the motherland. Our spies inform us that they may possilby be involved in other battles which would more or less even the playing field, but the nevertheless the war could be devistational. I suggest sir that we induce a full call up of the reserves.
The Emperor sat in silence and couldn't help blinking, "We already have the first Reserves set. Do you think we need an additional call-up?"
"It'll give us an additional million men Your Majesty. Enough to hold them. May I remind you sir that the Merchant Guilds is a huge nation and like us their people are devoted."
Vankov: "Still, I do not know about our economy holding that callup. Put them on alert and to be prepared for immediete mobilization, but do not call them as yet. Also try to bring the Pacific fleet back from North America to protect our coasts. Also, Admiral. Send out attack submarines. Be prepared to shoot military ships with the Guildian Flag."
"And the Merchant ships Your Majesty?"
"Let them make their move first. If need be that, may God help us."

TMG and I go way-way back to the first days of our existance and we've had a bit of an IC quarrel over some internal policies of TMG, so I'll probably deploy a few divisions worth of the CDF to help him fight you.

Don't worry about Godmodding, we'll explain what your doing wrong if you do.

With the Prime Minister back in his country, he immediately headed to his command HQ. He dispatched this heavily encrypted message to his ally, Rumera.

"Lord Khustanov, greetings. In preparation for the invasion, you can expect this breakdown in numbers of our forces.

Conservatively, we have 240,000 men available in the army now for deployment. We can conscript another 480,000 men into reserve force. The first 240,000 men are all active and are being put on red alert as we speak. (Men is referring simply to manpower as women are in the army and will be conscripted as well.)

1st Army, Western Group - 100,000 men - Gen. John Washington
Corps A - 40,000 men - Infantry
Corps B - 20,000 men - Infantry
Combat Engineers' Corps - 3,000 men
Medic Corps A - 15,000 men
Support Corps A - 12,000 men
Artillery Corps A - 10,000 men

2nd Army, Eastern Group - 110,000 men - Gen. Wilson Roosevelt
Corps C - 45,000 men - Infantry
Corps D - 20,000 men - Infantry
Combat Engineers Corps - 2,000 men
Medic Corps B - 16,000 men
Support Corps B - 22,000 men
Artillery Corps B - 5,000 men
3rd Army, Special Detachments - 30,000 men - Gen. Matthew Lobusensky
Marauders Unit A - 5,000 men
Marauders Unit B - 5,000 men
Special Medic Corps - 1,000 men
HQ Support - 12,000 men
SPD - Special Purpose Detachment - Commandos - 200 men
Construction Engineers - 6800 men

Reserve Units will be set up in similiar format. We may still need more men, but most importantly we will need munitions. The island has a large stockpile of munitions. Our troops will be trained in general rifle operations quickly, but that is all we can muster with short time. We will start hastily putting together public war TV instructional videos on rifle operation. Our men have a hodgepodge of AK-47, AK-74, Thompsons, PPsH, and M-14 rifles. We also are well stocked with RPG-7's. I have much experience with infantry fighting, having fought in a war as a corporal and my revolutionary war as its main General. However, although I consider myself a master tactician, I have very little expertice with naval warfare, and since the Dubocratic Union's 5 gunboats and one diesel submarine are a miniscule force, we turn these forces to your command as Dubocratic Naval Taskforce One. If there are any problems, contact me about that.

As for other supplies, our oil derricks are now going on high alert to produce more, and to have many guards posted around them. We wish that SAMs be placed at those sites to protect the oil. Our food supply is adequate, and our farming system quite modern and execellent. We will post guards around farms and irrigation systems. The Dubocratic Union also has an extensive factory system which can be instructed to produce whatever would be useful to the war effort and is now producing ammunition for our rifles and shells for our artillery systems. We have few tanks. I see here that the actual count is 27 T-34 tanks and 43 T-54 tanks. We do not know how effective these forces will be and have accounted for the maintenance and tank crews in our infantry manpower.
As for on-island anti-air, we possess serveral WWII era flak guns and serveral Soviet Quad Cannons, I see here that the exact count is 50 each. We have a large stockpile of munitions for these. We have aquired 20 Soviet SAMs from the surplus market and are deploying them around our major cities. We ask that you reinforce them with additional SAMs and place SAMs around oil derricks as mentioned before. You know our Air Force Power. We regret to say that the reason we are so low in the transport capacity, naval power, and air power is that much of these forces were lost in previous wars and we never rebuilt because of constant civil strife.

The good news is this. We have enough troops to cover the island adequately. The bad news is our pitiful air force which needs to be augements seriously. As we speak I have order my entire Engineering Unit to construct airfields around the country and to enlarge our current ones. All civilian tarmacs are also being converted. We may also have to use makeshift highway runways depending on how much air power you can bring in. We can supply petrol to both our forces. Depending on how our enemy plans to conduct this war, I can possibly supply arms to general populace, but we are running dangerously low on riflles and request more. We hope that our civilian plane converted to military transport will be adequate for commando operations. Our general troops are not trained well enough for airborne operations and neither do we have the hardware to support them.

As mentioned before, our greatest fear is of air strike. Modern war is riddled with the destructive force of carpet bombing and precision airstrikes. Our enemies have large and advanced militaries which can produce these things.

That about covers it for now. Any questions or concerns tell me and they will be immediately addressed and rectified.

The Dubocratic Union has the full support of the troops of Muffinesia.
Gurian
08-02-2005, 03:50
The Dubocratic Union, on Gurian's invitation, had recently moved to the Islands of Gorlon. It shared the region with two massive powers: Gurian and Claytoria. Gurian was the more powerful of the two, but Claytoria was a powerful country nonetheless. The two had been on good terms, although they did compete. Oftentimes the two leaders would delve into what-if scenarios about war, which were little more than penis competitions.

On this day, there was a real threat. Dictator Anderson, of course, was going to pledge Gurian's support to the Dubrocratic Union. While Gurian's support would be an immense help, having Claytoria's support would seal the deal. Dictator Anderson gave Claytoria's head of state a call. He picked up.

"Hello, this is Dictator Anderson," Dictator Anderson said.

"Right, I guess this involves the problems in Novaya Russia?" the Claytorian head of state replied.

"Partially. As you are aware, the Dubocratic Union recently set up here."

"Right," the Claytorian head of state affirmed.

"A country called 'The Merchant Guilds' currently wants to attack them. Now then, since they are in our region. I would like to pledge our support to them and defend them."

"We've been contemplating this for a while."

"What have you decided?"

"Considering The Dubocratic Union is horribly outnumbered and don't have the weapons needed, we have decided to speed up our arms manufacturing and get some logistical support to the Dubocratic Union. We will also be sending combat units as well. But we are reluctant to do so."

"Alright."

"We have to clear all of this up with The Dubocratic Union, but they will probably be grateful."

"I will be deploying my Navy in a defensive position and I will establish artillery, personally. Shall we meet at Paradise City to coordinate our defensive plan?" Paradise City was the largest city in the Islands of Gorlon. It resided on a large delta between the islands of Claytoria and Gurian. The city had been jointly governed for years. It was a symbol of cooperation and a perfect neutral meeting location.

"Of course."

"Our military heads will all be there if you would set the date."

"I would like you to come as well. As soon as possible, too."

"Right, of course."

"Alright, I'll see you there. Good bye." With that, Dictator Anderson hung up.

The call went well. It seemed as if Claytoria would support the Dubocratic Union. It wasn't what Dictator Anderson was hoping for, but it certainly wasn't bad. Now then, Dictator Anderson thought, We had better deploy forces before the enemy arrives.

"Aide!" Dictator Anderson shouted. An aide rushed into the room, waiting for orders.

"Now then, aide, I would like you to inform Admiral Ross to deploy our forces. Protect the Dubocratic Union. Since this is on home soil, we'll have a massive advantage. Exploit that, and make their supply lines bleed."

OOC: I hope I'm not godmoding, but I think that a small country like mine can be put on a large-scale alert. The economy will be sustained by the treasury, and truly how can it be hurt so much if we just put it on pause? The real destruction will be from the war, and with all of my soldiers, I intend to stem that tide.

[news intro music plays]
Welcome to Dubonews, this is Trisha Takanowa reporting live from the capital, we are receiving a live signal from the peace talks conference at San Gurian, Gurian. As you may know, the peace talks went smoothely, except for this, and now we go to the Prime Minister.

"Comrades, countrymen, Dubocrats! Lend me your ear. We have been on the brink of war with fanatics, and now the line has been crossed. Citizens, the Merchants Guilds has declared war on us. They claim it is because of insolence, and we have the claim that war was unprovoked. The situation started with a flairup in Novaya-Russia. The people of that country were being persecuted, and we intervened to save their very lives. But, the agressors, the Merchant Guilds took the opportunity to declare war on us! We shall not tire and we shall prevail! We are a hardy people, destined for greatness! Fellow Dubocrats, do not fret we have the backing of our allies! We have the might of the wise Rumerans, who in our defense have promised protection and are at this very moment deploying their forces in defense of our island. Our neighbors, the mighty Gurian and the awesome Claytoria are at the ready and are setting up defenses to uphold the Island of Gorlon. Our blood brothers, the Muffinesians, are willing to pledge troops and supplies as well. Our armies are stalwart, and are veterans experienced from the revolution! Let this be a warning to our enemies, we shall take the fight to you, and you shall be crushed asunder! Peace will come and peace shall prevail!"

The Prime Minister ends in a beau.....

The Prime Minister stepped in front of a video monitor at the Dubocratic HQ in an encrypted broadcast to his allies.
To my mighty allies:
Comrades, the zero hour approaches, and we must be at the ready. I am informed that Gurian and Claytoria are mobilizing to the fullest. Because of the combined forces of our vast navies, armies, and air forces, I say that a large chunk of your forces be deployed to invade the lands of the Merchant Guilds and her allies in precision strikes. My men will hold stalwartly the Union with the help of your defenses. We are extremely grateful for any Gurian forces and supplies sent. But, I stress that it is important to the take the fight to the enemy because many a general has lost a war playing it defensively. Yes, we must first repel their attacks, but our counter attack must be fierce. This is a declared and prepared war. Have your bomber wings fly sorties with maximum protection. I will donote whatever funds you need, and my oil derricks are at your service. The combined armies of Muffinesia and the Union will take main army defense of the island, whilst you defend it otherwise in the manners previously discussed. I wish to have all of the leaders talk and discuss war plans. Our generals should discuss tactics. Let it be known that I am the Commander-in-Chief of my armed forces, so I am the general to come to. [he grins] Godspeed, until we speak again. Jefferson out.

In the misdt of the night, the forests were awakened by overhead Foxhounds. The Dubocratic tarmac was quickly awakened as a men scurried out and a Rumeran Illyushin-76 landed. As it rolled to a stop the lights were quickly put back out and platoon after platoon filed out, marching to the barrecks. The first Rumeran troops had arrived. Quickly a man in cameflauge with a suitcase handcuffed to his wrist ran over to the Dubocratic Colonel.

"Sir! I have an immediete message for President Jefferson.

To the Dubocratic Union

As you know, we currently have 35 MiG-29 Fulcrums sitting on your tarmacs. 35 more are on there way. In addition our navy is heading towards The Dubocratic Union

The first half will arrive shortly with the following ships:

2 Rumeran Kreml Aircraft Carriers which will add 70 more planes towards your defence including a total of 24 Su-33; 32 Yak-141; and 36 MiG-27s.

Inititally we'll also have:
1 Rumera Battleship
4 Kiev class Crusers
8 Sovremenny class Destroyers
8 EM Destroyers
8 Udaloy Destroyers
16 Neustrashimini' Frigates
8 SKR Attack subs will be in the immedite range
We will also be bringing in a large force of tankers to supliment yours and our needs, providing common escorts. Overall, the initial Navel Defence Group will consist of 47 ships and 8 submarines. 27 more ships will follow shortly behind. Currently, they are docked at Rumeran ports and loading the missle SA launchers. Expect 80 SA launchers consisting of the Antov 2500 missles. This should provide adequite protection over the island.

With the second navel group, 24,000 troops from the Strategic Serivices will arrive. In addition, The Fifth Siberian Air Defence Army Brigade and the First Siberian InfantryArmy Corps shall arrive over a period of a week. Every fifteen minutes in between troop landings we will bring in extra munitions and supplies. We will be hard pressed to bring in heavy armour, but I will see in bringing motarized rifle brigades.

I will also press the Military in providing more SAMs and aircraft. However, this is the intial support as we are gathering intelligience on threats to Rumera itself and researching offencive attacks against The Merchant Guilds. We also will make the offer of protecting any highr anking or of importanceDubocratic citizen in the body of our territory if they feel that they will be safer. I wish the best and will provide more information later through other couriers.

As Jefferson finished reading the letter, the courier added, "Sir, I also wish to inform you that our MiG-31's will be escorting our supplies into base. It won't be an immediete gain, but it does help in protecting our supplies and giving advance warning."

It was late at night over the ocean. Not a sound disturbed its vast calm. Yet, 100 meters under the sea 12 Akula Rumeran submarines moved in differnt directions.

In the IRF Nikhrom the Co ordered the boat on complete silence. They were headed towards the Merchant Guild's shipping lanes.

09-02-2005, 02:01
Dictator Anderson heard about the notion of a counter-attack. He frowned.

While this nation was attacking the Dubocratic Union, was a counter-attack necessary? Sure, strategic missions to cripple their military are one thing. But to actually go on their soil and attack them? Would it be worth it?

Maybe there didn't have to be a horrible end to the war. Maybe a simple blockade of the Merchant Guilds would work. The end of the war wouldn't be killing civillians, but accepting the surrender of the Merchant Guilds. Yes, perhaps that would work.

Dictator Anderson set to work writing a letter to the Dubocratic Union.

Dear Dubocratic Union,

Welcome to the Islands of Gorlon. I appreciate your thanks regarding our defense of your nation. We help each other here, especially when the others are attacked unjustly.

I have recently heard your call for a counter-attack, and this troubles me. I do not think we should be hypocrites. The reason you were attacked was for attempting a peaceful solution with minimal loss of life in lieu of war. Going on the offensive now and causing unfathomable damage to the Merchant Guilds is not how I want to end this war. On the other hand, something must be done.

After careful deliberation, I have decided that the farthest I want to go on the offensive in this war is a complete blockade of their country, plus strategic strikes on military targets. If we cut off all their trade and cripple their military, the country will be hurt considerably. Civillian loss of life will still exist, but it will not be as bad as a full-on occupation by any means. If we maintain such a blockade long enough, then we may be able to force a surrender of the Merchant Guilds. This surrender could include terms to limit their military size.

If the country chooses not to surrender, then they are fools. By doing so, they will nail a stake right through the heart of their economy and completely ruin their military. Civillians will most likely begin to leave the country as conditions deteriorate. Being peaceful people, we will of course assist these civillians in leaving the country. By being stubborn, they will simply eradicate themselves.

In conclusion, this is my belief on how we should handle this problem. Whether or not you agree, I will not initiate any offensive action on the Merchant Guilds past attacking military targets and initiating a blockade. I would encourage you to pursue my course of action, but I will not force you to do so. I wish you luck in the battles to come: War is not a pretty thing.

Signed,
Dictator Anderson
Benevolent Dictator of Gurian

As the prime minister read the letter from Gurian, he straightened his collar. He wasn't wearing a suit any more, he was wearing a general's uniform.
He wondered,
"Was I being bloodthirsty? I didn't think so. But Anderson does have a point. I like his way. I mean, after all, we were striving for peace, not conquest. I am now donning a general's uniform, was I trapped in it?"

The Prime Minister stood up. It was time to go out for a jog and then a boxing session, but first he penned this letter.

To the honorable and most wise Dictator Anderson,
I am grateful to you. Most grateful because of the reality check you have given me. I agree with your notion of a blockade. You see, sir, I wasn't thinking of simply peace, but of retailiation. I didn't mean for my notions to come off as conquest-laden, but I see that is how they were interpreted. I simply meant to bomb strategic targets and make them think twice about war. But, a blockade will be even more sucessful! You have my backing sir, and may our side win through.

Sincerely, your grateful ally,
Theodore Jefferson

Dictator Anderson smiled as he received the message. This time he wouldn't have to fight for peace as hard.

OOC: Get on AIM, I want to show you something.
The Merchant Guilds
09-02-2005, 12:22
OOC: Just a point, I don't have a Navy. I use a lot of Air Transport as a substitute, also the shoals around the Guilds are very treacherous... so you are going to have a touch time getting large bearth ships, landing craft and submarines in there. We usually provide navigators to our allies and trading craft...

Since your attacking me, I reserve the right to call in an ally, I have not yet decided which one, but I do have a lot of RWC troops in my Nation due to the base exchange program. So you might have to encounter one anyway, Dumpsterdam who has 2 Battleships berthed on one of my small military refueling docks, which are there for my allies.

Please also note my nation is largely underground, so it's shall we say a little hard to attack my major military installations. Also, note I use rather unusual weapons in form of Chemical (i.e. acid and other substances) shells as well as the usual high explosive, ADPU shells...

Oh, and not Thermite isn't WMD, it's just a purely expendient measure of hitting people, I am not in Medium Range Missile range of :)

Oh you can IM me at: ginrumi1@hotmail.com

IC:

Early hours in the Crucible

The Emperor has declared war again?

That was the question burdening every Strike Commander, Sub-Officer and Deacon's lips as they went about the daily work of co-ordinating the massive war machine the Guilds possessed. Already due to their constant wars, they were on a high state of alert for the attack, with 'Buzzard' Radar and Communications Platform on a 7 hour rotation looking for any signs of surface or aerial activity in the vicinity of the Guilds. Submerged sonar and buoy systems kept the underwater vicinity safe from plausable attack.

Since the Guilds had never needed a navy due to it's rocky coastline, and mountainous terrain it had mined it's waters extensively to couple with it's huge system of defences surrounding the large forested mountainous island that was the Guilds. There were of course ways to get in and out of the minefields but you had to have local knowledge to know the shoals well enough to get through the various mines and treacherous sandbanks...

Since there was only one stretch of Guild coastline that Guild analysts had thought was practicable for invasion that had been where the Guilds Military had placed the majority of their defences varying from Doomingslandian Heavy Defense Turrets to plain old trenches and pillboxs... Alongside the other part of the sheer cliff faces and other areas of less steep but no less treacherous cliffs, there were a chain of pillbox's and other defences but in no where near the depth of the other areas.

Due to the Guilds many other military commitments Guild Defence Forces had been whittled down to a mere 4.5 million defensive personnel, including those required to supply the vast Guild war machine. Only 10,000 Guild Combat Aircraft were in the area, but as usual the heavy air traffic of supplying their other campaigns meant there was a very heavy amount of the heavy 'Doombringer' Transport planes coming in and out of the underground/mountain airfields.

In the various underground Silo's the men and women of Guild Ballistic Missile Command were in the labourius process of attaching Thermite warheads to their large ICBM's, which would be launched to on The Dubocratic Union's cities to burn them to a cinder as God's Holy Fire descended from heaven. These would teach the Heretics a lesson...

Already, 1st Heavy Bomber Legion was in the process of gearing up for a raid over Union territory, they would be carrying a mixture of High Explosive, Cannister Shells, Chemical Shells and Thermite, depending on their prospective targets. They would be escorted by the XS-101, a Long Range Escort Fighter, which also had limited Chemical pods attached to it so it could drop a little acid onto any enemy positions it found that were not on the main bombing run.

Satellite Images downloaded from the various RWC Intelligence Agencies had given the Knights Templar some analysis to do of what prospective targets the Bombers would be hitting, but it had been decided that the Terror would be inflicted by the missiles and that the bombers would go primarily for the supply depots, naval bases, airfields and communications centres, where they had been indentifed by the Knights Templar.

Ganoes Paran, Supreme Commander of the Guild Military looked a little annoyed with his Master the Emperor. He had enough wars to fight without another one being thrown at him... but he did understand in a way. The Emperor couldn't allow his Holiness the Pope to be questioned, such actions had already lead to the Reformation and such a schism or erosion of Rome's power could not be allowed again by God's Temporal Armies, of which the Guild Military was only a small compentent of.

IC: Upon hearing of the upserge in tensions between his great ally Merchant Guilds and an allied force led by The Dubocratic Union, Gurian and Rumera, the Emporer immdiedetly cause a council of war.

Making his way slowly to the war room below the Imperial Palace the Emporer entered thought about the possablity of the destruction of Merchant Guilds. Impossable. I cannot allow this to happen, my freinds at the Crucible have supported me through many dangers, I shall support them.

The two steel doors, each around 10 inches thick, slid back and the Emporer entered the Upper enclousiar of the War Room, William stod there, waiting for him, dressed as usual in the dazzling white of a Lord Major General of the Austian army.

"Sire." William bowed ar his twins feet. "Welcome. I came as soon as I could."

The Emporer's waliing stick made a dull thudding tap of the stone floor as he walked towards the prince. "It does not matter my brother, all that matters is our allies survival."

"Indeed." Together they walked slowly towards another steel door at the far right of the room, the walk took several minuates and they discussed plans tactics, and stratagy.

William pushed open the door for the Emporer and they entered a darkly lit room, the walls where steel plated, the celing steel, and every part of it seemed functional. The ock table and the Gold throne at the head of it seemed out of place.

Four men sat around the table, they where talking quickly and silently, but as the Emporer entered they all stood. "Sire, your will is my duty." they said together and bowed. the Emporer nodded quickly at them and motioned for them to sit, they did so as he sat in thethrone, William at his side.

"Sire, may I introduce you to Willaim Copnas, Admaral of the Red, John Bankroft, lord Air Commander, Richard Nolan, Lord General of Aust, and Piter Richards, our envoy to Merchant Guilds."

"Sire."

"Sire."

"Sire."

"Sire."

"gentlemen."

"Shall we begin." William asked.

"Proceed." The Emporer's tone was curt, his voice strong.

"Then, Piter please inform us of the situation in merchant Guilds...."

They spoke for many hours, as one by one the Gnerals and evnoys debate, the emporer was silent not speaking and William keapt order. After several hours of debate, the Emporer finally spoke. When he did his tone was hard.

"I can afford to send to many troops to our allies, we have enermys who shall pounce upon us should we be weakened as such. But i can afford some troops to leave Aust."

"I balive that we cannot win this war for our allies, we can aid them but they must come through the fire on there own steam, onlythen can they be strengthened. So thus I put it to you gentlemen that we send a small force. Not so small that it shall be vaunrable, but not o big that it eclipses what should be our all allies triumpth. According to you general Nolan we have Task force Beta in the area, and task force Z9 in merchant Guilds intself as part of RWC base eschange."

"We do sire."

"Those two task forces come to little over 40,000 men."

"43,000 men, sire."

"I preposed that we send another legion to aid them, and half an air wing. We may send more if cercumstance demands it."

"Sire."

"You shall command them General."

"Sire."

"And all the honour for our victory shall go to you and your forces."

"sire."

"So it is settled, I want our best air Commander to command the air forces we are sending."

"Sire."

"You are all dismissed, make arrangements." the 4 men got up and left the room. The Emporer breatheed a sigh of relef, he turned to William, "Have I just sent 50,000 men to there deaths."

"If we have then it was the only honourable thing to do, and we shall repay there deaths tenfold."

"Indeed." They sat there for a moment longer and then left. they had things to do.

OOC: To TMG, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 10,000 aircraft an unfeasible ammount, especially of the high technology kind? I'm not even sure that many aircraft exist on the planet earth.

Dubocratia, No it's not an unfeasable amount. I'll have to check my stats, but even us may have around that many.

So a thermite is not a WMD? What type is it?

There were tensions running high throughout the great chambers of Parliment. For the first time, since the coronation of the emperor has both chambers been summoned together.

The Senator from Krasnodar stood up, "Prime Minister, I urge you to plead to the emperor to stand down from attack. He has of late been eager to use the sword and it will surely result in our deaths."

Senator Petrarsky took the stand next, "I second that Prime Minister. Why should we spend our expenses on such a small state! We have joined forces with two nations of liberal nature! Surely, God will punish us! Let us join forces with The Merchant Guilds. They are far more like us in tempermant.

"Gentleman," rang the voice of High Councilman Ivan Duboshi. "We will protect the Dubocratic Union. We have staked Rumera's honour on it. We cannot afford to do any less. It is time to show the force of our Holy Empire. Let us not backdown. Oh Petrarsky, how foolish you are. Yes, they are a religious country. A country in union with the Latins, thereby schismatics of the Holy Orthodox and Catholic Church? Are you so eager to run to the Romans like the Byzantine's in the Battle of Constantinople? God punished them! He caused six centuries of Godlessness to reign on the Earth. We will not make the same mistake. Better to be in league with an honest liberal, than a Latin dog. Rumera will protect the Dubocratic Union and we will be victorious.

The vote was taken: Limited War was declared on The Merchant Guilds, 120-23.

In the Imperial Palace

Vankov: "How fare we General?"

"We have mobilized all the troops possible in the defence of the Dubocratic Union. 40,000 men are currently stationed at base. By Friday it will be at full capacity."

"What is our chance of defending it?"

"If they attack within the next 36 hours, we fare that the Union will fall. Anytime after that victory surely will be ours although in high cost to our troops. We maintain superiourity of the skys and should destroy the majority of aircraft they throw at us. We do not have are missle launchers in place though. Thus, until we are finished with this it will be up in the air."

"Good. And I do not want our Anti-Missle Inititive to be anywhere but over the motherland. What are the risks of attacks to it."

"They could of course come anywhere, but we have the advantage in Rumera of the weather. They cannot come from the north nor the west due to the icepacks and weather. The east is secured. The only possible aim of strikes are through the south-west and the direct south, the underbelly of the motherland. Through the southeast, we have heavy concentrations of armour there, thus they will proceed no more than 250 kilometers at the most. The south is the problem. Our troops have been slow in manuvering into position. Thus, until the infantry arrives from the capital it will be open. Our best hope though is that they strike soon in the south."

"Why is that?"

"Because the worst of the winter weather is about to hit. Anything else your highness?"

"Three things, call up the rest of the reserves, put more anti-aircraft and missle protection around the major cities in the east increase Air Force protection in the South and in the Pacific between the Dubocratic Union and Rumera. Call back the akulas for more protection in the Mediterranian and send out the nuclear submarine force?"

"Sir?"

"I don't intend to use them, but if we get the upperhand the Guilds make strike with higher weapons. They are streatched thin. Just as the boys in America say, 'Be Prepared.'

When everyone left, Vankov went into his private chapel and fell to the ground in front of the Icon of Christ. Murming to himself he whispered, "Too many men are going to die on both sides. Dear God, what have I done."

The Prime Minister hit the punching bag hard. With all his might he had pounded that bag for two hours straight, he was a sweated wreck, but still pounding away. He had deliberately pierced his skin on his chest with the medal pins he had. One for military honour in combat fighting the first Dubonian War, and on the other chest, his unique pin for "Leader of the Revolution" by his guerilla comrades. He was still bleeding, but much of the blood has dried. He kept pounding away, enraged.

The Prime Minister was neurotic about one thing, and one thing only, his emotions. His emotioned had overtaken him for a while. As a child, he had witnessed the mass executions of his former government. It was one run by crazed Christian fanatics. All the while during the crisis in Novaya Russia, he had acted and spoke in the name of tolerance and equality, but when the Merchant Guilds declared a holy war on him, he was burning inside. His cool exterior helped him keep most of his mettle, but his intentions of full scale retaliation crept out. He still wanted retaliation, really. He couldn't allow himself to say it. It was for the liberal ideas of a great nation he thought, to keep tolerance and not give in hatred, that's what it's for.

His fists were red and his elbows bruised. He remembered the moment he got back from San Gurian. His rage and passion filled him. Miss Pennyweather was there, in her usual seat, and that's when the rage and passion overtook him. He stared at her, angry for the reason that she was cosy inside this beautiful office strewn in red leather on a wooden walled backdrop. But that was no reason to be angry.
She asked, "Sir, what's the matter?" She smiled that large bright smile of hers. He stepped closer to her, knelt, and carefully removed her glasses. She could see it in his eyes, he was fighting a war inside, and she was going to be his nurse. He needed one.

He came out of the memory for a second and stopped punching. He looked at his arms and thought, "hey, I think I need a real nurse," and grinned. Miss Pennyweather would do the trick again. He went back into his memory as he walked down the hall to his office.

She gazed in his eyes, and he in hers, as he said very gently, "Anne, I need you, oh how this prospect of destruction rings clear and loudly, I can't hear anything else but that and the brash beating of my angry heart." They kissed.

Theo stopped walking and savored the memory. It wasn't just comforting that it was erotic, because it was, but it was mostly comforting because she had held him her in arms later that night and he stared into the moon and thought clearly about his intentions. At that very moment, he received the message from Dictator Anderson, and was struck profoundly, that now they were on the same page, and that before they weren't. Theo had wanted destruction, but now he wanted peace.

He walked to Miss Pennyweather's desk, outside of his office, and leaned over and gave her a kiss.
"Anne, do we have a first aid kit around here?"
"Theo! How long have you been at it?!"
"Two hours. Straight. Just bandage it, please."
She got up and Theo sat in her chair.
"Here it is." she said.
"Before that, Anne, I need you to take a memo."
"Alright, let me get a pen."

To Ivan Duboshi,
Sir, I thank you deeply for preserving our alliance. I am no longer in a haze of fury and bloodlust, I long for peace. But before peace, there must be war. I tell you this soberly, and that we must not think about destruction, but simply of what must be done. Sir, I pray for Rumera, I pray for my homeland, and the lands of our allies, and I pray for our combined forces. Pray with me a moment to whatever God may exist, for we have different Gods. When this war is over, we shall smile and smoke cigars on the beach at Uniontown. We shall smile because we prayed solemnly now. May fortune favor the brave and right, for I believe that it us.

Sincerely,
Theodore Jefferson

The Prime Minster walked into his office and closed the door. He put a CD into the player and the song began. It was the only song he could think of, "Eve of Destruction."

To Rumera,
My faithful allies, I have received your messages, and have a suggestion from my general Lubosensky, has a suggestion that I wish to pass on. He sugessts that you widen the range of your air superiority missions because TMGs have such a numerous air force that they may attempt to circumvent traditional air lanes. My country and Muffinesia will attempt to furnish your aircraft with any fuel that you may desire if it is so requested.

To our allies:
Please send liason officers to my capital, Uniontown, to discuss coordination efforts. These liason officers should be prepared to stay as official liason officers for the duration of the war. They were be treated to best accomodations available.
The Prime Minster,

A general staff meeting was called. All the generals, Gen. John Washington, Gen. Wilson Roosevelt, Gen. Matthew Lubosensky, and the Commander-in-Chief were all assembled around a round table. Also present was Lucas Sherman.

"Now whilst we wait for our allies' liason officers, let of speak of our direct defense. How fair we in increased conscription and volunteer enrollment?" The Prime Minister enquired.

Sherman responded, "Very well, sir. We have met all quotas and beyond. We now possess 600,000 reserve troops. All have been divvied up into various types of battaltions, which most importanly include the construction of fortifications and lookouts."

"Excellent..." the Prime Minsister smiled.

OOC:

Ok: TDU, I have around 40,000 Aircraft in my Airforce. The reasons I've given for these numbers:

A) I have no navy, this removes a huge defence expense lodgestone

B) I have a huge economy, (although suffering a bit atm) with reasonable tax rates. Think of a country almost China's size with an economy several times in power of the USA's and you've got many NS nations including me.

C) 40,000 Aircraft is nothing, Trust me. Around 20,000 are Combat Aircraft the rest are all support/supply aircraft, which is perfectly feasible given my budgets, and general way of RPing my nation (with it's large black market).

Thermite is Napalm which burns at 3000 Celcius rather than 2000 (ask Layarteb for the details, he gave me the idea of using it). I use it in missiles simply because it's fun to do so... also my warfare is very unconventional as you've probably noticed.

And oh and TIN this is MT, oh Insane one... besides we sorta closed it... you're welcome to arbiter it tho. :)

Oh btw whats Muffinesia?

And remember, my country is also hugely mountainous so I will be able to some extent to get over the Ice peaks etc... unless they are hugely high. I won't do a mass attack over them, I'll just try and slip a few heavy Bombers round the back... I am not that nasty :)

I've also assumed you've got 4 major cities... sorry if I am wrong. I will correct if you want, Some will go for your capital the others will go for other cities, I will let you say which ones of the later they are going for.

I'd like to talk to you over IM if thats possible, so we can clarify a few things :)

IC:

In the Crucible the Tactical and Strategic displays for the Command Room for the Union war lit up against the dull glow of the Halogen lights, which were the staple of the Guilds underground lighting systems.

Several Communication lights flashed, the Sub-Officers activating them to recieve the Link message from their respective sectors.

Ballistic Missile Command reports the requested number of missiles for the Strike have been prepped and loaded with Thermite Warheads. Their targeting computers have been set to the requested points, they are requesting whether they should be for direct hit or airburst, Sir?

Asked one young Strike Leader.

Airburst them at the maximum altitude possible where the efficency of the Thermite won't be reduced to less than 80%

Replied Ganoes Paran staring coldly at the displays...

God Help those cities, even if they can stop those missiles they are unlikely to stop all the thermite from raining down on them

He thought to himself...

A Sub-Officer turned round and stated;

Sir, the First Bomber Legion reports battle readiness. They are requesting clearence to start launch preparations

Paran seemed to consider this for a moment...

Have they loaded those Macabean Torpedo's to 100 of the escorts instead of the standard Chemical bomb pods?

Yes, Sir

The Sub-Officer chirped.

Give them clearance to begin the launch then, both the Missiles and the 1st Bomber

Paran said without expression on his scarred face.

He felt bad, despite being a Guilder through and through, knowing what the Guilders did to their enemies in warfare even he didn't like the idea of launching massive terror attacks in the first wave. They should be reserved for later... but the Emperor had ordered the population cleansed... What could he do?

Paran summoned a Deacon to him...

Sir?

The Deacon asked.

Ask the Bal'trak Monastery to set aside Chanting/Prayer time to pray for the souls of the men and women of the Dubocratic Union.

Paran replied.

Very good, Sir.

The Deacon replied before scuttling off.

******************************************

Near the aptly named Mount Shadow, Huge doors opened revealing a brightly lit series of huge run ways. Winter clothed Guild Airforce Guard personnel strolled out and began clearing away any potential debris from the path of their bombers. This took a whole half and hour... after which the Guild troops sat down on the icey rocks, smoking cigarrettes and drinking cans of self heating coffee.

Heavy Black Aircraft occasionally thundered out of the several run ways, sending waves of heat and air, which buffeted the guards... who seemed all too used to it. If they had bothered to look up they would have seen the lighter but no less Black Escort Fighters flying to hook up with the Bomber formations for their major attack runs on the Union's Military installations.

On the other side of the Guilds closer to the underground city of Dag'Pur silo hatches opened to allow twenty huge ICBM missiles out, they were ominous black shapes, which looked more like an oversized dagger rather than a conventional missile.

The Death and Terror accompanying all Guild Military Operations would start in about 8 Guild Standard Hours, the attack would arrive at around Midnight over the Union.

*****************************************

OOC: 8 Missiles are going for your Capital, 4 for each of the other cities. Just so you know the way to stop them is to blow them up at atmospheric level, simply because your dealing with a Napalm like fluid here, it would otherwise cause it to just fall on the area with less effect but still potentially dangerous. Remember you can't know this IC, but you can accidentally find out... :)

The Legions began to set off, climbing into there transport craft they slowly made there way to Merchant Guilds.

On the bridge of HMS Retrabution of The Emporer, a Zheng He (Quest) Class Fleet Carrier, General Nolan watched the scurry of activite below as the airforce completed there exacises and he Marines began there's.

He commanded hundreds of men, thousands and looking out of the bridges windows he could see hundreds of smaller ships around this one, hundreds of transport ships.

Sitting Ducks. he smiled and looked to his right where the massive presence of the HMS Hammer, a Predator class Trimaran superbattleship floated, surrounded by two Fury battleships. To his left a squadron of Trafalgar Class Littoral Combat Ships sailed and 3 Swordfish SSn's following.

He should have been on the fleets flagship, the huge HMS Fury a Cerberus class Ubercarrier, or on one of the Dominion class Cruisers. But he prefered it here. The older ship seemed more homely than the huge, brand new ships.

"I thought i'd find you here." A chipped presice voice came from behind him, Nolan turned and bowed, "Air Commander Solo."

"indeed old freind, I have been assigned to join you, I balive that Admaral Henery is commanding the fleet."

"Henery!" Admeral Henery was a young man, only 30 but he had a reputaion for being the finest commander in the Amarda, "Here?"

"Indeed, he's supervising things from The Nepturne."

"How far are we from Merchant Guilds?"

"A few miles, this damm fog mean that we can't see it but on a clear day you'd be able to. i took a flight up to look this morning, it's not far. I would advise you to prepare your men to disembark."

"My men?"

"Yours."

"What about your planes?"

"Where going to operate from here, on the ships I mean, that means we won't have to take up room on Merchant Guilds airfeilds."

"I see."

OOC: Merchant guilds where would I be docking in?

The Austian fleet is-
1 Cerberus class Ubercarrier
1 Obliteration class trimaran superbattleship
2 Fury Class Battlecarrier
1 Zheng He (Quest) Class Fleet Carrier
10 Trafalgar Class Littoral Combat Ships
3 Swordfish SSN
2 Dominion class Cruisers
5 Hellfire class missile battleship
1 Raider Class Pocket Carrier
2 Supremacy class Stealthed Attack Submarine

You'll have to wait at the outstretchs to my water for a pilot btw, due to the extensive defenses and the shifting shoals. Oh, remember it's very cold.

Oh, to the guys who might invade me, your other option besides the big beach are the five Surface cities, which are on the coast connected to docks, but they have a lot of foreigners in. Your choice :)

OOC: Well Aust is in Antartics, so you know, there used to cold.

IC: General Nolan watched as the ships slowed and stopped, in the distance the fog was clearing and he could see the outline of a city, and ahead of the city the docks. Turning to the nearest aide he barked a question.

"Why have we stopped?" The aide blushed.

"We are waiting for a piolt sir. There are a lot of Merchant guild defecne works and shoals nearby, and even with our systems we would lose at least 1 ship without a guide.

Nolan felt tired, he'd been awake for ages, and he need some sleep, his tiredness made him grumpy. "Well summon a piolet."

"yes, sire."

He scanned the city again, looking for ships, warships that is, there where none. The he rembered the file he read that morning. Merchant Guilds had no navy, Looks like we'll be doing all the sea fighting then.

He watched as a piolet began to arrive.

OOC: bugger. :)

IC: The Piolet was a tall, gruff man who seemed rarther in awe of the huge ships that he drove his boat beside. If the was in awe of the ships then he was even more in awe of Nolan.

The general was well over six foot, with his dark skin and the shock of yellow hair on his head, he carried himself forcefully and gracefully, wearing he white and gold of a full Austian General Nolan greated the piolet personally. After bowing in Austian fashion he asked if the piolet would be kind enough to guide them into port, after a lengthy translation by Nolans translator the piolet nodded.

Nolan wondered if communiscation would be a problem...he could only speak Austian.

The ships followed the piolet into port, and then, once they'd docked the troops began to disembark. Ensigns and Sargents where sent out to find lodgings for the officers, some came back with volouteer's for the Austians as well as lodging. Most of the 'volounteers where drunk and Nolan suspected they'd been tricked into taking the kings shilling.

Once his troops had disembarked he had them peradeon the nearest peace of land that was large enough to fit the army in it and they set up camp. It looked strange, a forest of tents and small APC's, the only type of armouered viacal Aust used outside the tank Corps, in a large square, in the middle of a city.

Some local people came to watch and Nolan let the troops relax, letting the Austian show the children how to fire a (unloaded) rifle, and how to use a sword.

Nolan smiled, it looked like the white jackets (Austian troops nickname) had made themselves popular. Taking a small laptop off an aide he wrote a despatch tohis allies asking where his troops where needed.

OOC: Merchant Guilds, I added you to my MSN.

IC:

Major Boris Grishnev was a dear revolutionary friend of the Prime Minister's. He was always interested in flying, and he never had the chance. He was born into a poor Jewish family on a farm near Chesterton, right near the Prime Minister's birth place. All the Jews, including the Prime Minister, were persecuted by the harsh and terrible reign of the King. The territory was called Dubocratia, Dubonia, or any variation of that sort, but the King was called the Kingdom of Zeal. Boris and Theo grew up together, being beaten for who they were. It was just like every place else in the world. But, both had their own destinies. Both were raised on a diet of fighting for their lives, and both would repay their enemies in blood. Boris killed just as many in the Revolution as Theo did. Just as many royal guards.

"Boris, the King is finally dead. We are now a republic. And you're going to defend it with me." The Prime Minister said in a low voice.
"Comrade, I would defend a shack if it were our home, and this just gives me more incentive." Boris retorted and they both heartily laughed.
"How has your flight training been going?"
"Good, friend. Whenever those bastards come, I'll be ready."
"Zero hour has come. Doom is our pursuant, and we must chase him away. You and your squadron is good to go. Take the Dubocratic wing and link it with the Rumeran Squadrons. We need air superiority control up there. I have a slinking suspicion that our enemies are up to something. Turn on your beacons so that our SAMs may target only our enemies, in defence, we shall not need to be so stealthy."
"Alright. Adios muchacho!" Boris grinned and jogged away in his full flight suit.

5 minutes later at the hanger...
"Men, suit up and lock and load. I trust our planes are ready, Jenkins?"
"Yes, sir." Jenkins replied.
"Our pilots ready, Krieger?"
"Ready, sir."
"Lock lon! Lar go!"
The pilots hopped into their crafts.
On my signal. Green, 1. Green, 2. Green, 3. Green, 4. Green, 5. Check. Check. Check. The engines roared and their blood screamed. Locks. Launch. Go. Adios amigos!
The MiGs took off into the sky.
Gurian
11-02-2005, 02:02
Dictator Anderson sat in his office, twiddling his thumbs. Not much had been happening. He trusted his generals to deploy Gurian and Claytoria's forces. Considering the enemy was weaker than all of them combined and the fight would be in the Islands of Gorlon, home soil for both Gurian and Claytoria, victory was expected to be almost a certainty. As always happened when things seemed easy, and aide rushed in.

"Sir!" the aide shouted. "We've detected several missiles heading toward the Dubocratic Union!" Dictator Anderson reeled. Such an act was -- well -- utterly despicable.

"THOSE MASS-MURDERING SONS OF BITCHES! ACTIVATE THE GODDAMN DEFENSE GRID! SHOOT DOWN AS MANY OF THEM AS YOU CAN!"

"Yes sir!"

With that, the aide rushed off to get the defense grid working. Many years ago, Claytoria and Gurian had cooperated in establishing a missile defense system for the Islands of Gorlon. The system was not perfect, but it did work a lot of the time.

The system worked by utilizing several varieties of defenses and monitoring techniques. Satellites, ground-based communication systems, surveillance craft, and more all contributed to the monitoring systems. This plethora of sources made it difficult to tamper with the system.

The first line of defense consisted of firing missiles at the incoming missiles to intercept them and destroy them. Both space-based weaponry and ground-based missile silos fired long range missiles. More than one per missile was fired, of course, to allow for a larger margin of error. If one interceptor missile missed, another would have a chance to hit the missile again.

If this measure failed, the second line of defense consisted of short-range firing. Outlying islands with military bases, like Faith and Murder Islands, were good for this purpose. They could bombard the missiles with all sorts of fire in hopes of bringing them down before they reached more populus areas.

The very final measure in the missile defense system, as a last resort, were electromagnetic pulses. Several areas had been set-up to deliver pulses, right near major population centers. The pulses stood a decent chance of disabling the missiles, but had one very major drawback. Use of them would also render a very large amount of the region's electronics worthless. This is why they were an absolute last resort.

Now this process was beginning. Surveillance systems were searching for all incoming missiles, and stage one defense was commencing. Missiles had been launched to try to counter the threat.

Dictator Anderson worried. Was this enough? No...something else had to be done. He picked up a large red phone on his desk.

"This is Dictator Anderson, ready the nuclear arsenol. I want you to be prepared to disable the nukes mid-flight if the need arises. Do you understand?"

"Yes, sir," was the reply.

"Fire them when ready. The targets are the Merchant Guilds. Have some aimed at Aust, but do not fire yet." Dictator Anderson hung up. He walked toward his computer and sent out a message.

To: Aust and The Merchant Guilds

We have detected several missiles headed toward the Dubocratic Union coming from The Merchant Guilds. We believe these missiles are an attempt to completely annihilate the country.

In response, I have fired several nuclear warheads at the Merchant Guilds. These warheads may be disabled mid-flight, but I will only do this if the Merchant Guilds disables their missiles first. Being underground won't help you much with this many nuclear weapons.

I do not want to annihilate either of you, but drastic times call for drastic measures. Call off the missiles.

Signed,
Dictator Anderson

Bad language below...

Boris's MiG raced upwards towards heaven. His whole wing was in V shape and flying against doom.

Back at the Prime Minister's office, he received a call from Gurian informing him of the incoming missiles targeted at the Dubocratic Union with the intent to anhilate the island.

The Prime Minister ran as fast as he could and flung the door open to the in-HQ comm. center.

"Damnit, Jim! Give me that!" He snatched the mike out of the Lieutenant's hand.
"Boris, I'm sending you coordinates for the trajectory of missile-based warheads en route to the Union. Roger?"
"Roger. Holy fuck on a stick. This is the real thing, ain't it, Theo?"
"You betcha. Sweet mother. Have your wing destroy those missiles, but be aware that Gurian has launched many anti-missile countermeasures. Be as nimble as the pigeon in traffic."
"I saw one get hit yesterday."
"Fuck that then. Bloody hell, be alive and stay alive. Fuckin' A. Godspeed, old friend."

And with that Boris and his wing flew at maximum speed towards the trajectory...

Thermite: Burns at 3,000°C (5,432°F)
Napalm: Burns at 1,000°C (1,832°F)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermite

The reason napalm only burns at 1,000°C is that it is gasoline based and that is the temperature that gasoline burns at. Thickened gasoline burns at 675°C (1,247°F). White phosphorous burns at some 1,500°C (2,732°F), IIRC.

The Rumeran fleet near the Union capital circled preparing anti-air defence.

Abord the Cruser Viktor Leonov
"Sir, we have twelve ICBM's headed on this trajectory."

"Aye, aye, Commander. Launch the Antovs."

A volly of Anti-Air Missles ran up to meat the incomming missles. Most of the defence lodge missed or detonated prematuraly. However the Leonov's system tracked two missles headed for the ICBMs still comming in higher altitude.

"Sir we have destroyed two of their missles. One was headed for the capital, another to the Dubocratic Union. They're vunerable higher up."

The Captain gasped, "My God, quickly telegraph the rest of the flee---" His word broke off as the defence force was obliterated in a mass of flaming heat. The Destroyer Gadshiyevsya, unaware of the weakness took out a missle too close to the fleet and the telegraph was never sent.

13 ships destroyed, the first casulties of the war,
4796 Sailors dead, 192 Civillians

occ: I hope I didn't step my bounds in these first shots of the war.
Dubocratia, we did our best so far. For now it looks like one of your major cities is saved along with 25% less damage of the capital. Unfortunally, the missle launchers are 12 hours from fully operational on the island.

Also, just for the record, even though I do use Russian terminology I hope its clear that the nation is somewhat more advanced than the current Russian military. It's just easier for me and others in rp than me having to go and create a totally new concept.

"What aircraft do we have?"

"Actually sir the only aircraft we have that can reach that range are our Tuplovs."

The Emperor was more than stunned, "You're telling me we have a chance of survival and the only plane that can reach that far or fucking turboprops!"

"We are a nation of the sea your highness."

IC:
Boris and wing flew towards the missiles.
"Sir, we have lock." Krieger said.
"Fire all." Boris agreed.
And with that the Air to air missiles were fired destroying most of the missiles. Two were hit on the tails, throwing them off couse. One would land in the bay around the capital obliterating some Rumeran ships. The other landed slightly off course and scorched part of downtown Uniontown. Several thousand Dubocratic citizens perished. But the bravery of Boris and his wing saved the day, and of course the massive anti-missile battery fired by Gurian helped.

Benevolent Dictator of Gurian

OOC: I don't think MG's are nuke's, oh nd I think Aust will have slightly more missiles than you as we spend 25% of our buget on missiles (Military buget that is) but we jhave no nuke's but enough power to destroy your nation without nuke's, I've done it before.

OOC: Gurian, Space based weaponry??? (This is MT old man, I don't accept that kind stuff on principle). And they are thermite warheads... oh btw nuking me won't do you a lot of good. I have always RPed my civilisation living a mile below the surface... you'll kill a lot of defence forces and foreigners tho.

And I deliberatley didn't use WMD's (altho. bear in mind I have plenty of very nasty ones I can use). But I can see the IC of it so I will let it go.

So, I take it you will have no other missiles to stop meh bombers (bar TDU's stuff) since you've just launched several hundred at the missiles... (you should really kind say how many you've got and how many you've fired)

And it's 20 Warheads Rumera... but up to you what you've seen. Also, remember I dictate how many are shot down.

IC:

The 20 Warheads were rapidly approached Union air space, they were just about in effective height, where even if they missiles were destroyed the thermite would combust and form a flaming liquid blanket below for miles around.

The tidal wave of Gurian and Rumeria missiles impacted on the Guilder ICBM's blowing them all to kingdom come, but unfortunately for the Gurian/Rumerian Anti-Missile commands they had not thought that the weapons might not contain WMD's. As such from the massive series of explosions occuring in the sky a fair few of the ICBM's had been in effective height so that the Thermite they carried would be partially effective in falling to Earth as a flaming blanket of fire and retribution, the question was what would it hit? The sea with any ships that might be below or would it the Union mainland... no matter what the environmental damage to the immediate area would be huge.

But there was no WMD's aboard those missiles... What the Gurians done?

*****************************************

The Bombers were only minutes behind the Missiles seeing the cacophony of missiles and series of massive explosions many crews were more than a little worried about this. Still, however many clung to their ardent Catholic beliefs in that no matter what God would look favourably on them when and if they died in this mission, cleansing the Heretics of the Union.

Orders crackled over the Link system;

The 100 Escorts carrying the Torpedo's were to break and attack the fleet stationed in and around the Union, which had been picked up on Guilder observation systems.

The Bombers and their remaining escorts would no break to hit their targets, orders were to get in and get out ASAP.

The Guild crews knew all to well something was wrong, the Command staff never told them to get in and get out quickly. This meant that 'The Crucible' was cooking up something for some reason. Whatever it was, was not in anyway good and they knew all too well would only lead to mass extermination especially if the unthinkable happened and the Guilds unleashed their various black project Biological and Chemical weapons on the Union and it's allies... that would be hell on Earth.

The sheer black aircraft with the Wolves Head Insignia broke off their large close knit formation into little group with their escorts. The other one hundred escorts plummeted down to Earth straight towards the enemy fleet in several different general directions from very high up. The sirens attached to them, to create terrible screams as they plunged on their attack runs went into full swing, adding to the terrible atmosphere already pervading the area. They were like a wave of terrible black angels coming out of heaven to reak havoc and vengence upon the heretics. This dark and evil apperance had earned the Guild Military Forces the nickname of 'The Black Legions' throughout the known world.

****************************************************

Requested Orders to the Austians were as follows:

1) All personnel who had been landed should make their way to the nearest bunker.

2) All non landed personnel/shipping, which could should as far as possible make for the open sea.

This was noted due to a possible incoming nuclear strike in a few hours.

***************************************************

The 'Crucible Command' Centre was in panic... Ballistic Missiles heading towards the Guilds?

Guild Ballistic Missile Command was already limbering up twice as many 'Sol' Anti-Missile/Satellite Missiles as their were Ballistic missiles incomming. A general alert had been sounded to evacuate all personnel from the five Surface cities into the underground city system, via the Bullet trains.

The massive series of Blast doors across all unnessacary entry areas to the Guilds were heavily closing. Soldiers evacuated into underground bunkers shutting the heavy blast door systems behind them. It was all ordered chaos as people left their valubles behind in order to save themselves rather than their possesions. The evacuation might just be done in time...

The Dumpsterdamin Omega Battleships had been hurridly order to sail in order to get away from the possible nuclear assault.

The Emperor had cooly ordered the Guild Scientists to begin the process of putting some of the Black project Virus'/Chemicals into warheads, which would be fired at the Gurian's should the missiles hit the Guilds. This would almost certainly mean the Gurians easily dying in the millions, if not the Billions....

A message was sent to the Gurians

To: Gurian

We did not fire Weapons of Mass Destruction at The Dubocratic Union, those were only conventional weapons mounted on ICBM's in order to extend their reach. We suggust for your own sake you destroy your missiles otherwise we will guarentee Gurians complete destruction at the hands of our Allies and our own Chemical/Biological and Thermo-Nuclear Devices.

We suggust you do not start an all out war of destruction.

OOC: Gurian is modern tech, and the whole defense system is meant not to blow up the missiles above the nation, that would in some cases, like yours be pointless.

Prime Minister Mackenzie had been looking at the war in the sidelines for most of the ordeal he had announced his alliance with the Dubocratic Union already, and troops and artillery were arriving at the island. His boats were on the move around the nation too.

He was conteplating going on the move towards The Guilds, to attack them. He had an idea proposed to him earlier, but it would take alot of fighting to carry out. He almost forgot that his phone was off the hook with a man awaiting and answer.

Finally he picked up the phone and said, "Do it," and hten he promptly hung up. It was all up to his people and Generals now. He prayed it would work.

Noaln swore, looked at the readouts, and swore again. WMd's heading straight towards them. "Bugger." He now had the impossable task of getting his 40,000 men into selter. he'd already ordered the ships away to the south and sent an urgant message to the Emporer saying what had happened. The Emporer had promised to launch every missile he had should the enermy missiles hit.

Eventually he managed to get half his force, the prime troops at least, into cover, and with the rest of his forces he stood in the middle of the square, in the early deserted city waiting for the missiles to strike.

He was sweating with worry, then a sudden burst of adrenlin caught him and he raised his arms to the sky and began to chant, his rythmic tone catching his mens throats and they joined him, "in the name of Allah, most mercyful, we go to the grave with honour in our hearts and fire in our veins..."

OCC: And it's 20 Warheads Rumera... but up to you what you've seen. Also, remember I dictate how many are shot down.

Okay, boths of these were very unclear previously. Thus, for the record, our systems only saw 12 missles (unless you're saying that some had multiple warheads), we're raising the death toll from 13 ships to 18 from our strikes, and around thirthy MiGs patrolling. I'll have to figure out the rest after the finish of the fallouts and later. Also, Rumera never launched WMD but conventional high-density warheads. We were preparing chemicals as a later resort.

At the Control Tower

"Sir we have fighters comming in!"

"Copy that, divide the commands of some for interception, a third to remain over the Union and allow the Navy to keep what they need for protection.

---

In his MiG 31, the Commander led his force of nearly 100 interceptors towards the incoming "black death."

Making the sign of the cross he radioed the other fighters, "This is Rumera one, we are approaching bogies. Lock your targets and prepare to fire when you are in range. Rumera one out."

As he grabbed the stick he muttered under his breath, "Most Holy Theotokos Save Us.:

Aboard the flagship of the remanants of the fleet an Ensign called to the Admiral. "Sir! We have a large mass heading towards the fleet! ETA:4 minutes!

"Shit! How many defenders do we have immedietly in the vicinity?"

"40 in range of our defence, 20 that would arrive in right before those air legions, and 18 still waiting to be launched."

"Tell the out wing to return pronto! Load the Anti-Aircraft guns, and get those catipults moving!"

occ: MG, this is totally unrelated and as a Rumeran you have my word that I shall not use this against you IC :) , but why exactly do you all live a mile underground? Just satisfying my sheer curiosity.

OOC: It would be helpful to add me to your MSN if you have it then, we can cut out the OOC jargon in the thread.

To answer your question: The Guilds moved underground almost fifty years ago, simply because at that time, they were an isolationist people who saw one of the best ways of getting away from the outside world is to live a mile below the surface. Thus, a lot of improvements and advances were made to underground technology and building techniques. Which is why my Surface cities (the five small International ports) aren't of the same quality as the buildings underground due to lack of experience, in the ways of building above ground in the last two generations.

Oh I did say there were twenty missiles, I said 8 going to the capital and 4 for 3 of the major cities. It was an OOC after the post... but thats fair enough.

And TDU: Thermite Plasma is not classed as a WMD IMO, especially since by using your definition you would have to class MRLS and even some artillery units as WMD's (Why because they inflict large scale damage on an area). You can take it as WMD if you like... but I really think we need to talk on MSN.

Claytoria: Are you a puppet of Gurian per chance, because that what that defence sounded like?

Also, I would remind you this RP is 3 on 3 currently, thus unless TDU really wants help I would suggust you leave, you have little previous interest in this. Thus have no reason to get involved IC IMO. Also, Orbital Weapons Platforms, which ever way you wish to describe them are PMT not MT, I do not accept their effects my allies can but I do not as a rule. Sorry.

The Black Long Range Fighters screamed down from their high altitude, their sirens screaming...

Orders crackled over the link system:

Fight and Die with Honour, For God, For Saint Peter, For the Emperor!

Half the fighers in the attack veered away heading for the 30 MiG's, swooping quickly towards them, it was going to be a head on collision between the flights of Aeroplanes. The Escorts fired quick bursts of Cannon and some fired a Heatseeker, if they had managed to get a lock-on to one of the enemy planes.

The other half continued screaming down towards the ships below, despite the poor visibility due to the black smoke coming from where the Thermite had impacted...

OoC: Time to bring in the big boys, sorry for the delay!

IC:

A women followed by a heavy escort cleared the auxiliary tunnel near one of the Guild's docks, some Guild personal might have recognised Tanya Rift in a female combat armour of the CDF.
Her escort was made up from her aide, Marcus Wolf and a platoon of CDF legionnaires and they quickly made their way towards one of the two battleships moored at the docks.

As they approached the road-block that guarded the entrance to the docks Tanya waived her hand at the officer on duty and the barrier was raised for her and her escort followed suit. "Raise the alarm, all crews to battlestations." Her words where more a whisper but the officer on duty heard them clearly and pushed the alarm button, a shrill sound erupted all around the docks as crews and support personal scrambled to their ships or aircraft through the snow-cleared pathways.
As Tanya entered the tower responsible for harbour control the first orders where already being given by major general currently on duty, major general Danish. "This is Manak Harbour Control, we have a code red, all crews to battlestations, this is NOT a drill..." He fell silent as milady Rift entered the room. "Milady, we are honoured by your presence, we will do our utter best to defeat hostile naval forces..." Tanya cut him short. "There is no need to grovel for me Major Danish, I am like my father and am not in shape or form a better human then you." A friendly smile displayed itself over her face and Danish relaxed clearly. "Thank you milady." Danish stuttered and turned back to his operators, whispered with them shortly and then turned back. "Milady Rift, the battleships Pandora and Revenge and their escorts are proceeding to intercept enemy naval forces.

"Very good Major, prepare eight squadrons for air-cover and contact Councillor Damocales on this matter, my brother likes to be informed of my progress." Tanya sat down on a chair that Marcus had retrieved for her and settled in, as soon as the situation allowed it she would go to the Revenge and command it herself to destroy the last remains of the enemy fleet.

Meanwhile in the docks the full might of the 9th and 8th battlegroups left port and proceeded to aid the few ships the Guild had mustered for fleet defence, still a good four hours until the enemy was within range of the mighty guns of the battleships.

Dictator Anderson sat, silently watching a live video feed of the Dubocratic Union. He couldn't speak...the images he saw were so terrible. A mother and daughter who were walking by happily moments ago...dead. The camera feed didn't last long, both fortunately and unfortunately.

"Those bastards," Dictator Anderson seethed. "They did this to CIVILLIANS god dammit. Even my nukes haven't deterred them. Damn them and their underground city. DAMN THEM ALL!"

Dictator Anderson frowned. How did this all happen? Why were they so warmongering that they wished to do this? How could all of their allies stand by them as they massacred millions of innocent civillians?

His nukes were still in the air. While they wouldn't kill as many people, some surface populations would die. Though the nukes, in the long-run, would probably hurt the Merchant Guilds badly. The fall-out would force them to stay in their underground city. They wouldn't have access to natural light, outside oxygen, or anything like that. Unless they risked the radiation, of course. Then again, how much did he really know about them?

Dictator Anderson didn't want to do that -- at least not yet. He picked up his phone.

"Call off the missiles. Do it now."

He hung up. Somewhere in the world, the missiles would be neutralized.

Dictator Anderson took to writing.

To: The Enemy

As you have no doubt realized, my missiles have been called off. Do not take this to mean that I am surrendering or anything like that. Even if the missiles couldn't penetrate enough rock to reach the Merchant Guilds, the fall-out would most likely seal you guys in. I'm sure there would be too much unnecessary death.

I am abhorred that the allies of the Merchant Guilds would stand by him, even after this...this...genocide! The indiscriminate slaughter of civillians that has been displayed is sickening. Don't try to say I fired back and would have done the same. I launched my missiles as a deterrent, to make him stop. Have they killed anyone? No.

Why are we even fighting? Is it because we didn't want you guys to attack Novaya Russia when peace hadn't even been attempted? Is it because you are warmongering fools who do not care about your men? Call off your forces, there is no need to fight.

If you really insist on fighting, then I want you to see this. I have enclosed several camera feeds of the destruction the Merchant Guilds have caused in the Dubocratic Union. The Prime Minister walked through the burned streets in his military uniform.
He let out a loud roar, and when his fellow citizens saw him, they roared too. They gathered around him. The Prime Minister found a pile of ash to stand on.

"My fellow citizens. Today is the saddest day I have known. War is engulfing our peaceful and free nation, and war for what? We are the target of a religious cleansing, and to the Merchant Guilds, we are refuse to be collected. We are vermin to be exterminated. I, my fellow citizens have been naive perhaps. I have been a liberal thinking man my whole life. Always my words and only when necessary, my fists. But how do you combat fists? Not with words, but with a parry and a counter. This destruction, this terror that is upon us shall be taken to their shores. We will build a navy of our own and crush the invaders. We are fighting because the Union in their heretical ways have insulted our Pope, we asked only that they apologise to him for this insult, which they refused to do. We cannot in all our good intentions let this go, until they have apologised and offered compensation to the Holy See for their insolence in this matter.

As for the woman and Children, we hope God shows mercy upon them but we fear they will burn in Hell for their crimes. After all we are part of God's Chosen.

***************************************************

The Heavy Black Bombers proceeded over what they're Mapping and Observation told them were the target areas, they flew slowly compared to the buzzing Escort Fighters around them in their small groups.

Still they had yet to meet any serious resistance apart from those earlier MiG's... the strange thing was that the defences seemed weak. The Crucible has obviously expecting huge casulities for this Bomber Legion due to them flying over sketchy and unknown territory.

The huge black shapes flooded over the supposed airfields, military bases, supply/fuel dumps and general areas of Industry of the Union. From their huge altitude the Bombers and their escorts could not have known their true locations, the blackness of the night was terrible indeed especially for those bellow.

Several Groups of Bombers had in fact overflown their supposed targets and were actually over the Union's Capital, others had wrongly indentified fields as their target areas, whilst a few of the Fighters intermintently broke off to attack chains of lights on the ground, these they mistook for troop concentrations but were in fact in the main either Traffic on Motorways or small settlements. The sketchy and bad intelligence gathered at extremely short notice by the Knights of Saint Peter and pooled with other RWC Information resources hadn't helped matters...

Once, the Bombers had got over where their Navigation sets and eye's told them were the correct targets, their heavy bomb doors creeked open, revealing the wave of death about to smash into their enemies... the Thermite was nothing compared to what these bombers had in their bellies...

Shapes dropped from the Bombers bellies, dropping to Earth like huge hail stones, when they got their prescribed high many of them exploded... shooting out Acidic Chemicals in a huge spray, the Cannister Bombs exploded much closer to earth a few metres above ground level spraying ball bearings in a 360 Degree arc around them down onto the Ground below with these terrible weapons the High Explosive came thumping down...

The destruction would be terrible indeed, for this was partly the reason the Guilder Military was known by the world as the 'Black Legions' for they were amongst the most terrible foes, driven by Religion into terrible acts of Worship and Obediance to the Church. After all they were fighting to cleanse the souls of the Heaten and the Heretic, their enemies on this occasion were a prime example of this and the Deacons attached to ever unit made sure the men and women of the Guild Military were all too aware of this...

The Shapes turned in irregular patterns peeling off to retreat back to their mountain valley return runways... the Fighters occasionally ducking into the night dropping their bombers. 2 Escorts had already been lost to this by hitting power lines causing huge fireballs, another had managed to fly too low and hit a low mountain, exploding in a ball of flame.

You said 30 Migs were patrolling thus thats what I assumed my aircraft would run into.

Btw, you might want to use your anti-aircraft defences.

You can post casulties per post or at the end of the engagement I don't mind which.

IC:

The sleak black aircraft pulled around their enemies, four of them blew up or plunged sea wards in werid and wonderful ways as Rumeran missiles hit their aircraft and did they damage.

Aerial Strike Commander Ho'tor realised quickly that the Anti-Shipping material his planes carried would slow them down in a dog fight with these bastards, after all they were Interceptors, the Escorts were only there for protection and couldn't carry on any dog fight for long.

He screamed down the Link System;

All Dog fighting squadrons drop the damn torpedo's, dammit

A squeeky female voice chirped back down the system;

But the Crucible and the Church will punis...

Do it NOW! I will take resposability

Ho'tor screamed, interupting the young lady in her sentence.

Without further order, the Escorts dropped their torpedo's ever which way, armed of course but many just headed off in random directions, some just exploded into the sea floor after being dropped from too great a height causing plumes of weight froth and water to spray up...

The Black fighters began working to their Wingman training... working in two's they would fighter the MiG's and any other fighters, whom arrived.

Cannon rounds and non-heat seeking missiles sprayed off as the Escorts and their enemies engaged each other in a battle of wills, occasionally marked by the odd fireball or black trail as a plane on either side was fatally hit flared up in the night.

****************************************************

The remaining Escorts rocketed towards the fleet at low altitude, their night vision systems told them of the great gouts of black smoke left by the Thermite, they could see the ships reasonably clearly through the black fog of war.

Torpedo's away crackled down the Link system.

Over the next few seconds all the torpedo's dropped into the burning water, the planes pulled up as quickly was possible, they were about to fly over the fleet gaining altitude as they went.

Three or four of the Torpedo's exploded in areas where Thermite was nestled burning on top of the waters surface, sending up more plumes of water...

The others continued on to their uncertain targets.

The Prime Minister got on television and on radio.

"Fellow citizens, I am taking an action that I must to protect our nation and continue in our effort to deter our enemy, the Merchant Guilds. We are increasing conscription rates temporarily until the war is over, then all personnel conscripted will have the option to leave the military. Most of the new conscripts will not be combat troops, but rather construction batallions. All skilled workers on being called upon to aid in the construction of defenses."

OOC: TMG do you have a map of your nation? I have a map of mind that I'll give to you willingly, a map of your would help though.

IC: Admiral Douglas of the CNF Algonquin (Claytoria's flagship) entered his cabin, and looked at all of his maps and battle plans. He looked over one of the main plans, the one that had been granted and pushed his intercom button to call his Navigator.

"Sir?"

"Lieutenant, how much longer?"

"ETA 30 minutes sir, we're saving fuel for the move ahead."

"Right, thanks alot... Tell the fleets that we're doing this one early, and they better be prepared for some fast moving."

"Yes sir, anything else?"

"Yeah, a pot of coffee please, extra sugar and creamer, and make sure its not that powder coffee, that stuff is sick."

"Can do sir"

Secondly, my wings are running 24 hour air superiority, there is a chance that the bombs or bombers could be intercepted. Of course, I will except casualties, but what is this acid spray crap? OOC: Actually, I did three times (I even seperated the points for you, so you knew what was going on). What did you think the Escorts were escorting? If I had wanted air superiority, I would have sent two or three Air Legions not a Bomber Legion. That was a concession to your small size.

Since, you did not post an interception, I am sorry but they got through. I try and seperate to help people, even posting casulties from random events but I can't do anymore than that.

Oh the Chemical bombs, yes effectively think of a Claymore bursting at reasonabily high altitude and spraying acid in an arc below. I use these in mines, grenades, mortar and artillery shells as well, acts as a double edged sword it poisons as well as killing/maiming troops, it also tends to corrode tanks as well... Tis an entirely unique weapon of mine and I use it a lot.

Claytoria: Sorry, no map one is being done for me (I am crap at paint/design programs), but if you look up my first post on the thread it contains a general description of the Guilds Environment, also in that I forgot to add the five surface port cities, which can also be attacked. Oh remember Aust and Dump have ships/fleets there. You can have a naval battle with them.

"Weapons, launch SA missles towards those escorts. Order the fleet to man the anti-aircraft gun. All hear this, we are at Imperial Strike One. This is not a drill. Prepare to engage the enemy."

"Torpedos in the Water sir!"

"Roger, Officer. All ships clear aways. Svyabog force, clear the way for us!"

As the Navy headed gradually away from the task force, 9 destroyers rushed in releasing water flares and evasive defence systems, lighting up the water in an errie orange. Two destroyers were quickly destroyed. One by a torpedo, another by the thermite being ignited. Simutaniously the surrounding helipcopters dropped in their decoys. While the fighting continued and the ships fled for their lives, six more ships were hit, 2 destroyers, 3 frigates, and an Assult ship, luckly which was mostly empty.

"Captain, what ships were damaged?"

"Currently three, the two frigates Morzh and Frigov and the Submarine tender Ivan Kutomin."

"Okay, as soon as possible tenbd to those ships."

At that period the officers saw a bright flash. It seemed that the a torpedo remained. The Rumeran flagship, the Battleship Vankov went up in flames, until the depths of the ocean deep extinguished the tinies spark.

--------
The Air defence captain swore as another interceptor went down. The damage wasn't as bad as he had expected though. As they slowly shot down the enemy he saw a hail of Rumeran Navel missles and tracers come up around. Then to his horrer, the aircraft started droppijng torpedoes onto the Fleet.

"Rumera Bravo, this is Rumera One, where are you?
"Right behind you boss. We'll add to your forces sixty more MiGs in two minutes. Hold just a tick sir!"

"Copy that Bravo One. Give the signal for the rest [80 aircraft] to neutralize those bombers. When they're done they can join with us. Fire at will."

"Copy that Rumera One. Tally ho!"

IC: The chemicals sprayed over a wide radius decimating building and countryside alike. The radius of destruction was incredible, and could be seen everywhere. 12:00 AM Eastern Claytoria

At first the people saw only a few transport planes go by, a large amount more than the usual, but they thought nothing of it. But about half an hour later, a huge roar came over every city, the people looked up, and they didn't see a moon, or a sky, they saw planes, the sky almost painted by the bottom hull of aircraft. They were all going one direction, The Merchant Guilds.

The planes the people saw at first were a bit stealthier, smaller too, they were sent for a smaller force to drop in The Merchant Guilds to paint targets for the huge continuous stream of bombers coming from Claytoria, Gurian, and The Dubocratic Union. Long ranged conventional missiles would also be launched. It was to be a twenty four hour bombardment of the city. Right behind those planes, exactly five minutes behind, were troop transport planes, huge amounts of them. A lot of various kinds, holding troops, and light vehicles and supplies mainly. Then after them there were more bombers, about a half hour behind.

Boats were already their way from the same nations, destroyers, carriers, submarines, minlayers you name it. All headed for The Merchant Guilds. Once they arrived they would be the ones bombarding The Merchant Guilds and sending supplies to the troops.

Every few hours more and more transport planes would go by, and bombers.

OOC: This is a huge coordinated assault, massive is a better word, when all of your troops are sleeping. I’m pretty sure Aust can only send a small portion of his naval forces because he is at war already right? And Dumpsterdam is the same? Considering TMG has no navy they do rely heavily on these naval forces and Aust and Dumpsterdam aren't even together as one force. The main bulk of this attack is Claytoria and Gurian obviously, but there are still a lot of The Dubocratic Union's forces. The troops are going to land on your nation and paint all of the Anti Air they find for our laser guided bombs. They are also going to keep surveillance on all of the hatches leading underground they find, and seal some of them. They will keep men near them and if they open, they will call it for missiles and bombs. More troops will come in waves by the way eventually attempting to take all of your ports and bases. As we know a naval landing strike on a fortified port is suicide. An attack from the back is easier. And even if they fail the bombing will continue.

The boats are going to arrive later, but The Dubocratic Union or I will discuss what these are going to do when they arrive, our combined forces of boats are probably still alot more powerful with both Dumpsterdam and Aust together, but they arent as I have read so far.

Just remember we do have atleast some element of surprise. The chances of you knowing about this attack are low, we had all of our troops under close inspection and letters phone calls and mail were all inspected. Even though the troops didn't know until today.

That and both the Guild troops and my Colonial Defence Force already present are:

1) Extremely well trained.
2) Have access to the best equipment both countries have to offer.
3) Have extensive knowlegde of the Guild tunnel network

Rumeran submarines repetidly sortied the Dumpsterdam and Aust fleet. Firing five torpedos and then dissapering. It was a preclude to the upcomming battle

--------------------
The Rumeran fleet was steadily heading towards The Merchant guilds. Mine Destroyers were closely followed by the incomming frigagates. As the fleet approached the coast Flankers began to head to cover the air along with the Claymore Airforce. Engagements with with the enemy's navy had begun.

OCC: I'm leaving this open so you all can engage the submarines if you wish (about 12 sorties) along with getting ready. But correct me if I missed something, but we fired 50 missles as Aust's docked navy. Thus, shouldn't that be recorded elsewhere?
Also Rumera is sending four Carrier groups and a Battle Group (164 ships including submarines and tenders, but not including a small landing force). If one wants the exact numbers, I'll post.

God, i hate naval combat. Dump, you can have my navy , you know how to use them better than I do, and seeing as my airforce is on my navy you can look after them too, Specs are on TST storefront, and the planes (500) are all hounds.

IC: The Austian troops began to erect defences, they had decided not to contest the landings but had withdrawn to the entrences of the tunnels, quickly building barracades, trenches and machine gun emplacements. They carried on work all night, and all day working in shifts, making the strongest passable defences they could.

OOC: Botheration. Rumera I wrote a reasonable post yesterday about the continueing aerial combat and it seems Jolt didn't register it, which has annoyed me somewhat, so I apologise and will re-write soonish.

Austie:

Already fixed defences there, Dooms defence turrets, Pillboxes, Concrete Re-enforced trenches and bunkers.

Claytoria/Gurian:

A) Remember your going to be constricted into channels when attacking me, so you're going to suffer massive losses. (Since there are by my estimation only 6 Possible places for a major landing, the five port cities or a stretch of beach). Think Omaha style landing for the RP...

B) You're shipping is going to have to deal with the sand banks and anti-shipping mines. Not mention fire from coastal batteries. (There are ways through, but you have to know the area).

C) If you've got a 'massive invasion' force (probably a few hundred ships?) it is going to be noticed quite quickly by AWACS and general Intelligence sweeps.

D) Your ships need to protect your troop transports, you're not going to be really able to get out and have a proper sea battle with Dump or Aust (I wouldn't underestimate their ships or their capababilities). So hit and run I think might be happening a lot.

E) Remember my nation exists pretty much wholly underground and is heavily forested/glacially mountainous.

Oh incidentaly just for the record, if you suprise with your tactics/strategy I will RP as such in my RPs. Oh do you mind giving OOC figures for this invasion...

Effectively the Guilds is a fortress... :)

For the record: Your facing 3.5 million troops, not including security or Airforce personnel.

With around 6,000 Combat Aircraft there as well (inc. Helicopters)

OOC: This is due to Rumera’s attack on Aust/Dumps fleet. Thus, my forces have gone on a high level of alert due to the attack taking place close to Guild Territorial waters. A totally in-sync IC response.

IC:

Shrill sirens sounded over the Guilds, men and women stumbled out of bunkers in their Camouflaged smocks and overalls. These men and women were followed by Deacons shouting obscenities against the enemy and praise for their Emperor, they were largely ignored but to the more gullibly religious Legionnaire, they were truly inspirational.

Ships thought to be of Rumeran origin were in the process of assaulting the Dumpsterdamian and Austian fleets… this had been sufficient reason for the Crucible to call up it’s forces and begin preparations for a possible invasion. They needed little excuse for this, since the Emperor being as mad as he was had started wars all over the globe. The only major Guild concern was the possible loss of supply operations to those troops concentrations, thus messages were sent out to Guild allies making clear the possible situation, and asking them to supply their troops for the time being. They would of course be compensated for their trouble in time.

All across the Guild coastline men and women stood on sentry duty as their friends cleaned their weapons, hauled up additional supplies of ammunition, set up heavy machine guns, mortars placing much additional ammunition and spare parts near these weapons allowing them to keep up a continuous rain of steel and chemicals on the enemy. 105 mm Howitzers were wheeled up to their Earthen re-enforced positions, 120mm Anti tank guns had their barrels cleaned, the Massive 150mm Coastal guns were being prepped and supplied via underground railway waiting for the ‘Eagle’ AWACS planes patrolling the edges of Guild waters… in general it looked like a huge armoured beast was literally cleaning it’s Black shell ready for a predator to attempt to attack it…

Guild Ballistic Missile command began gearing up short range missiles to be launched at the enemy fleets, despite some of their bunker being caved in by the high explosive attack having hit on one of their primary launch sites having causing several silos to be put right out of commission, several hundred personnel had been hurt or killed in the attack. The Missile Command was currently seething and its Command one General Paulitius had wanted to avenge this by launching Biological warheads at Rumera but had been overruled by the Emperor himself.

The Guilds was watching… all the possible landing areas for a major invasion (i.e. Deep Water areas) had been heavily garrisoned and Air support placed under direct Front Command. Possible areas for small parties or units to slip in had been placed under the guard of fanatical units of the Knights of Saint. Peter, with orders to report any contacts immediately…

While all this was happening the Empress went into her chambers from the stress, which was rumoured have possibly caused the heavily pregnant Empress to perhaps give birth pre-maturely…

Richard swore as the sirens blared, showing an invasion alert by enermy forces, messages from the Austian fleet showed that they where under attack and had estermated that the enermy invasion forces where heading to one of 6 locations, but an analysis of the enermy forces suggested that the beach would be there most likly attacking point.

Nolan had finsihed his fall-back defences, there where enough of his own emplacments, and his allies guns to hold out, and so he led his forces towards the beach, realising that the enermy would be most likly to assult here, after all, attacking any city, especcially from sea was suicide, you only had to look at events in world war 2 to realise that.

He gritted his teeth and passed orders to his forces to begin to move out, organising each legion into 3 marching collums, 12 collums overall each of around 3,000 men he led them through the city, marching with them instead of travlling in his APC, he had ordered all his APC's to be disarmed and there armoured plating and wepondry to be used for barrackades.

His forces reached the beach just before sunrise, it had been a hard march. He let them rest a while, as he survayed the beach and it's defences, he was tired, but sleep could wait.

The dark sky flashed from time to time as the big guns of the battleships opened up, an explosian lit the horizan breifly, though which side had lost the ship he didn't know.

missiles streaked over head, and aircraft hummed, an explosian threw-up a plume of sand just 7 meters away, but the wind blew the sand away from him. There was an explosian and he turned to looked at what had happened, a shell had hit an bunker, even as he watched fire found a heavy weapon troopers shells and blew the bunker to kingdom come.

"Shit." A slight wind picked up behind him, blowing eddys of sand behind him, and still explosians lit the night.

Turning his banoculars to the beach defences, he looked at the state of the defences, they where well maintained and even as he watched, another troop of defenders arrives, the beach was a well prepared killing machine.

He knew that the Guilds would have enough men to cover all the defences, and certainly they didn't need any more men, but they had them and he may as well set up his forces.

He would take the right of the beach, where his troops had arrived, that woud free up Guild men to help elsewhere, and his men where able to defend that part.

he sent a message to the Guild's saying that he would do that, and then sent some of his ASS snipers up onto a rocky outcrop where they had a view of half the beach. He sent up some of his rocket troops up there two and ordered them to sent up an firebase there.

Then with that done, he found a nearby bunker, and slept.

IC:

The Black shapes of the Bombers continued on their stately way, connecting again into a large formation with their remaining escorts flying like Black Wasps at their side…

The night in which they flew was dark indeed, little moonlight was evident on this night. The only light, which illuminated the sky in which they flew, was the burning targets behind them…

*****************************************

Aerial Strike Leader Ho’tar heard a chime come through the Link network resonating in his ear drum like a large Church bell would. He pressed his ear drum as the message whispered through…

He was to pull out and rejoin the formation for protection purposes. They would then return back to their snowy mountain vaults in triumph, God’s wrath had been deposited upon the Union… they felt sure that would sate the Emperor and the Pope.

Ho’tar doubted it, the Emperor was widely regarded to be quite insane but his Council was extremely good at their job, it got rid of any real side effects of having an insane ruler… the only problem was that even the Council couldn’t stop the Emperor’s mad plans to destroy the non-Catholic world.

He swerved violently as the onboard computer relayed a target lock, and automatically adjusted his course to deal with the problem, leaving a wake of chaff behind him.

He decided he must relay the orders back to his men; he tapped the link piece… it made a dull chime to alert the other pilots of general orders.

We are to pull back to the Bomber formation, the raid has been successful. I want everyone to dis-engage from their dogfights as soon as possible. We have got to get to the formation, they need the additional escorts. Then back to Queron Quirl for debrief…

Ho’tar pushed back on his stick making his escort shoot up out of the fray, many of his pilots did similar abandoning their dog fights, but unfortunately due to the wave of missiles and general anti-aircraft fire echoing out from the ground as well as the dog fighting fighters another 13 of his pilots were hit either burning up, exploding in a fireball or in the case of one of the pilot floating down towards the sea on a black parachute.

They were away… no doubt the fighters would pursue but that was of no matter, they were no match for the entire of the formation…

The various Special Forces that had been seen first jumped out of the airplanes. And pulled their parachute strings, slowly floating down to the ground somewhere in TMG. They had suffered quite a few anti-air losses, but most of the deaths were the pilots and aircraft crews, as alot of the time people are able to bail out of burning planes before they crash.

Immediately when they hit the ground they started searching for any anti-air emplacements so they can paint the targets for the bombers coming behind them. If they saw an enemy troop emplacement they painted it, and if they saw pretty much any man made military object they painted it for bombing.

OOC: This means that you can counter my bombing now, then right after my bombing will come the massive paradrop. Which will attack various spots inside your nation. We aren't going inside your nation, we are juist taking the surface.

And RP your other Para's seperately. You might want to remember the forests... Para's and Forests really don't mix. Especially, when facing mountain troops...

Since it's 3 on 4, I am going to bring in another ally, Kriegorgrad. He has a base in my nation, despite being IC communist we will strike an Secret IC deal to have his troops help too. His contribution will again be reasonably small...

IC:

Guild Radar had picked up several contacts just too late, they had dropped Parachutists whom couldn't be hit by the hidden SAM systems but the Radar guided Flak guns began pumping out high velocity shells at the Parachutists... bringing some of them down screaming or just decapitating others...

Several Fighter wings had been re-directed to intercept the returning craft, gaining on them rapidly... They would stop those craft returning to their friends... Nobody set foot in the Guilds and lived.

Orders were immediately given to alert the units in the immediate area of the drop to move in and close off the area, which was quite easily done due to the many forces in the general surface area of the Guilds. The Special Forces had effectively landed in a Death trap...

Three Legions closed in on the area in a circular shape between the trees around the positions the sensory positions had noted the drops had come from. Amongst those Legions, which the Special Forces had unwittingly dropped next to was the II Legion 'Augusta', one of the two crack Legions of the Guilder Armed Forces, from which the Emperor's Bodyguard Units, 'The Corpus Christi' were drawn from.

The Legions artillery sat back pounding the landing and nearby areas with high explosive and cannister airburst shells. Mortar Centuries began let off shells directly at the projected area...

There were several hidden underground SAM sites in the cordened off area as well as a small bunker complex with radar guided anti-aircraft guns manned by troops of the Second Defence Legion, whom were now lurking behind their earthen fortifications and their pillboxes in cases of movement in the forest around them...

Units of the First Helicopter Legion had taken off from one of their icey open air pads sometime after the alarm had be raised and were even now stalking low above the trees... their missile pods and pivot mounted heavy machine guns covering the dark forests...

The Guilds was on the highest alert now, Entire Air Legions were ready to lift off at a few minutes notice, the SAM system was active and the anti-aircraft guns were having their ammunition stocked.

Ganoes Paran, Supreme Commander of the Guild Forces mused as the Holographic screen show the progress of his units...

That was a mistake, the Claytorians aren't too bright militarily are they, Vespasian

General Vespasian smiled back...

Dropping right next to Legate Cato and the 'Augusta' was one of the worst places they could have dropped, eh... Paran. I assume you put Cato in charge of the Operation?

Paran grinned and replied;

Of course, I did Quintus. He's one of the Guild's best Legion Commanders, after all he commanded the 81st Legion in the siege of Sydney... you don't get more taxing than that..

I know, Old Friend

Said Vespasian and went back to studying the map...

To add to this the Emperor had decided to call in a few chips with an old ally but now idealogical enemy, Kriegorgrad.

The Dubocratic Union
26-02-2005, 06:05
Somewhere in the mountains of The Merchant Guilds:

Lenov's band of guerillas were the special ops forces of the Dubocratic Union. They had fought in the revolution with the Prime Minister himself, and specialized in homemade off-hand solutions and terrorism. Their ranks had been widdled down by war, and all had been hardened by the revolution. Their psyche evals were none too respectable for the common man, and that's why the Prime Minister kept them in training at all times; the Prime Minister's psyche eval wasn't too hot either, but he realized the need for such men.

Lenov, a tall, dark featured man was the leader of the group probably because he was the crazied, but also because he was the oldest, at the age of twenty-seven, and he was the most war-torn, with three purple hearts. As he quickly rolled up his used parachute for disposal, he scratched his scruffy black beard and felt the "Hero of the Revolution" medal around his neck that felt now so cold against his skin in this fridgid unknown alps. He has lost about a third of his party on the way down, not because of anti-air, but because of deaths on impact, with many landing in trees or in canyons and on jagged rocks.

"Team A, we're on point. Team B, you're flanking left, as the constant. Team C, you're flank right, as constant. And Team D, you're Crazy Ivan. Let's move out." They had mountain camo on and looked professional, yet their swagger was unmistakably ragtag. Lenov's Raiders were looking forward to wreaking havoc on a befuddled and chaotic Merchant Guild nation.

As they moved through the mountains, they looked a maps to ascertain where they had landed through the rough plane ride, but they couldn't figure it out. The land of the Merchant Guilds was vast, barren, and most of all almost homogenous in its miserable frozen peaks and jagged threshes. "Halt. Guys, we're now unofficially detached from the Union. That means it's time for murder and all the spoils of war. Go crazy, I know I will." As Lenov finished, he spotted in the distance fire from the massive naval battle ensuing and the air drops and bombings that were promised to be successful. Lenov thought, it's not fucking possible for the Merchant Guilds to defend against such a well planned attack, espeically when we're on the ground. He smiled to himself and continued trekking through the inhospitable wilderness.

OOC: Why the hell isn't anyone posting? If no one wants to continue the war, shall we just end it? But c'mmon, at least post some reply.

Cpt. Corian and his company had landed in the northern area of of The Merchant Guilds. Lt. Earl made his report, "Captain, Second Squad had a rough landing, we're cutting some of them out of trees right now. No real injuries though, Private Dole from First Squad has a pretty nasty gash in his eyebrow but it isn't serious."

The clean Captain replied in a gruff voice, "Thanks Earl, go tell Birdman the company is moving out."

The Lieutenant left without a word and started to bark orders. All eight squads moving out.

The Captain watched the two recon squads move out for their reports. And with a sigh he set off himself leading the company through TMG. Looking for AA areas for marking.

Captain Corian stepped through some bushes and examined his surroundings. Intel said there is a high chance of anti air craft here. A recon squad came back, this time with new person.

"Sir, we found a crashed C-130 down about half a mile, co-pilot's dead but we picked up this guy, hes the pilot. We also came across two dead troopers sir of B Squad. Hung up in the trees."

"Is the pilot okay?"

"Yeah, luckily enough he came out with a few gashes, he says he saw what possibly could be an airfield to the east of here, but with the plane shakin' an' stuff he couldn't really tell. We're almost at the spot the A.A. was supposed to be, but we haven't sighted anything yet. Maybe the other Reccy squad found one."

"Thanks Corporal."

They continued through the forest headed east and little south, every step making them more and more tense, the enemy had to be around now. No doubt. They had fifteen minutes to target the A.A. emplacements and get teh hell out of there.
