The Pitch:
Interested in increasing your economic advantage over other nations? Maybe you just want to be able to have some measure of economic security in this turbulent world filled with wars, mergers, and nations who just can't wait to wring the necks of some unsuspecting noob. Or perhaps you just want to join another the organization for the hell of it?

Well, the WTO is here for you! (Although we'd prefer that you don't join us just for the hell of it.)

Being a member of the WTO offers numerous advantages, some of which are:

-Lower trade tariffs between other WTO member nations.
-Economic, and if need be, military support in times of crisis for member nations.
-Nations with developing, or weaker economies (Strong and below) will have greater access to other member nations with stronger economies (Very strong and above.)
-Access to the largest, most advanced, and widely known and used international trade center in the world.
-Security with a well trained, and capable military force ready to assist you in your time of need.*

Joining the WTO is the one way that a nation can help to secure their economic future, don't be caught in another blockade, or depression again!

Important Information:
All laws and rulings made by the WTO are typically done by a governing council majority vote. Actions, especialy those involving military intervention are also typically taken only with a majority vote.

WTO Charter:

1. All members shall not participate in anti-business policies, such as, but not limited to:
Blockading, Embargos, Trade Ship sinking, and Economic Warfare (taking out soft targets, like dams and businesses) Unless there is some special circumstance, which will be required to be reported to the Leading Member for review.

2. Any nation can be refused membership, no matter what the circumstances are.

3. Any member nation can be kicked out of the WTO by the Leading Member and/or a majority vote between Prime Members

4. Economic support will be given only if a majority vote of Prime Members and/or the decision of the Leading Member.

5. Militiary support will be given to any nation that needs it, following a majority vote between the Prime Members.

6. Any WTO member can call a WTO meeting, as long as the agenda is reasonable.

7. All WTO members must go to a meeting called by the Prime Members, a telegram must be sent to the founding member if a member is not able to attend.

8. The Prime Members and/or the founding member can change any of the rules above to any given circumstance following a majority vote OR an ok by the Leading Member.

OOC: the WTO is in real life. It seeks to lower barriers to trade, because they are bad. As shown by Ricardo's theory of comparitive advantage, anything which stops open trade is bad.

OOC: Yes, this is based on the RL WTO, with some creative elements added for the warmongering nature of II players. To tell you the truth, I've never even heard of Deus Ex.

(OOC: To be quite honest, I don't know. THe "List of Tech Levels" that I had a while back doesn't include a majority of the current members. Some of the nations, like Ramissle, I know for sure are MT. Just note though, that many FT nations don't really see how the WTO could benefit them, and besides, the WTO is an MT organization anyway!)

To put it simply, here's a RL statement made.

Kinda like a way to keep near dead economies going, until they can really get back on their feet.

The WTO here in NS works something like that, except with some differences, which I'm still trying to work out.

I can't use the exact same method as the RL WTO because frankly, it's not that effective. But economies in Ns work much more simply, so little things that would bog down the whole idea in RL don't really affect the Ns version.

Mamimi, the ever cute and lovable, Kyanges citizen magical girl followed the ball all the way towards her bat. While the pitcher was chargin up, and sounding constipated, Mamimi was building her energey as well, albeit, much more silently...

I wasnted to make sure the new WTO had some strong roots before I completely left the old one. Seems like now's a good time. Thanks for reminding me actually. I've got to get busy and figure out all the admin controls now, Lol.)

Is the WTO still looking for members? If so, exactly which economic practices other than those listed in the charter are either forbidden or frowned upon? Thank you for any information.

I'm sorry, but we are in need of members who can be depended upon to be actively involved with the various activities the WTO is expected to opening in the near future, and as your nations are relatively unexperienced in the broad affairs in the world, and from the lack of proof that you will be active in the WTO, I'm afraid I cannot allow you membership.

Hmm... Don't like this much... NR II and Geevesustekastanilonia (wow that's a long name to enter logging in :p) could be puppets or good but inexperienced players...

Maybe we can direct (non-puppet) members with under a certain # of months/posts to the nation twinning group or something (or even start a limited one ourselves) and once they complete that they can join. I don't like dismissing newbies quickly, but I don't want n00bs in here any more than you do.

(OOC: The thought that an seemingly inexperienced nation might simply be a puppet or a good player witha low post count had kept me from dismissing them from joining in the past, but I soon found that If I simply waited a while before allowing new people in, I would be able to weed out most of those who one can be certain would only post maybe less than ten times and then never return. These people wanted to join a while ago, but haven't posted at all since. I'm not about to let them in just because of that.

For example, you were a new player at one point, and when you were, I would have been reluctant to let you join. But seeing how you came back again and again assured me that you wouldn't be like the other noobs, just coming in to post once or twice then leaving forever. Do you see why I haven't let them in now?
