The secondary layer is a large alunimum tank (well, not large) roughly about an inch and a quarter thick that contains electrolytic fluid (which changes its viscosity [spelling?] when hit with an electric shock).
When a round is detected coming towards the vehicle, an electric firing system fires an electrical pulse towards the electrodes protruding into the fluid across each individual tank (there are a series of these tanks, each covering different portiosn).
To prevent spillage, each tank is cordoned off with metal strips to prevent one hit from draining an entire tank. This entire system is the Liquid-Based Passive Defense System (LBPDS) or Electrolytic Fluid Defense System (EFDS).
The tanks are present on the front glacis, turret sides, turret front, turret rear, turret top, vehicle top, and vehicle sides.

OOC: Interesting, youve kept them both simple specs wise, not sure about the armour though, the trouble with armour is that understanding just how good it is, lol.

I shall look into purchasing some of these tanks.

OOC:I don't think a 135mm ETC would even fit on a Merkava. You know ETCs are actualy alot bigger than conventional guns, right?

Warta Endor wishes to purchase 50 Merkava VX TANK DESTROYER for 335 million.

It probably couldn't... on the other hand he's removed the infantry compartment. On the other hand he's included more ammunition and removed the autoloader. On the other hand he's reduced the size of the mortar. On the other hand, it's faster.

I actually think this would be a better Abrams mod than a Merkava, since the Merkava is basicaly a slow, infantry tank. This has turned into a big gun cruiser tank.... like the abrams.

As for a LOSAT carrier, I can see why it would be attractive, but why put it on such a heavily armored vehicle? You've only got ten rounds, then the tank is effectively an Mission Kill. S'why they're so good on hummers... no one cares if a jeep has a small ammo-capacity... it's probably going to die quickly anyway. And if it can take a few tanks with it... good. With the merkava, you're quickly going to shoot off your ammunition, then start screaming for reloads as the sabots start plinking off your hull. It's not a bad-impossible design... I simply can't see the use, since a single hummer can pack the same firepower and will have approximately the same effectiveness (the hummer will die as the Merkava runs out of missiles)... and since the hummer's cheaper...

Well what i originally did is got the Merkava Lineart from the net, edited it for the VD, and then edited my edited version for the VX. I did it all, except the original basis. http://3dcenter.ru/blueprints/tanks/merkava-ii.gif is what I very first worked with.

Doomingsland: I'll bear that in mind, thanks. I may just reduce it to 125mm Rifled in that case.

Verdant: Well I work with the principle of constant supply lines, so if the 10 LOSAT's ran out there'd always be a truck more to fill the gap while the helicopters drop in some more.

Warta Endor: We will ship them to you via aircraft asap. Thank you for your puchase.

Elsorran: We will ship you them to you via aircraft asap. Thank you for your purchase.

Skinny 87: We will ship you them to you via aircraft asap. Thank you for your purchase.
