A little bit to the east of Gotland, Sweden
"All units, be prepared to leave in 20 minutes, we have a go from HQ in Stockholm"
General Andersson was a little bit nervous. Although he was sure that they will manage to success in this mission he knew that this will be much harder than the invasion of the Jan Mayen Island – the latest real action taken by the Royal Military Forces.
This time it wasn't a tiny little island, now it was a much larger country. Sure, the government had collapsed, and the military seemed to be very unorganized. But you'll never know. What will the neighbors do? How will they react? WILL they react? The thoughts in his head were
spinning around. He wanted to start as soon as possible as he knew that he works best under pressure. All they were waiting for now was the Gripens that should join the navy.
As their goal is only some 150 km away from Gotland, it will be a short journey. But it may be a bumpy ride before it will end...
Andersson's satellite radio beeped once, and a voice began to speak:
"First wave of Gripens located 10 minutes from Gotland. Start your mission at once. This is a code red mission. You have permission to fire your weapons."
Andersson sent another encoded message to all units in the waters east of Gotland. Immediately all naval vessels began to head for the Latvian coast. The Swedish invasion of Latvia has started.
The first wave of Gripens should first take out all existing border patrols outside Latvia, including air force and navy, then concentrate on the military installations along the Latvian coastline.
60 JAS-39 Gripen came from Stockholm, 60 from Karlskrona and another 40 lifted from Visby military airport. Every single Gripen carried 4 MBDA-Meteor (AA missile, range over 100 km) and 6 AGM-65 Mavericks (Air to Surface missile, range 27 km, 135 kg warhead with delayed fuse penetrator).
