Rubberduckistan´s Democratic Resistance (Open)

Rubberduckistan

Plea for freedom loving nations around the NS-world(Radio broadcast)

Situation in Rubberduckistan has become intolerable. Duckche-Party has betrayed it´s own principles, and is mockery of the original people´s democracy it was supposed to be.

Only solution that remains for all the freedom loving Rubberduckistanis is insurrection, but we are short of money, training, weapons, safe-havens.
Party and State Security Directorate monitor people and their lives so throughly that building effective resistance army in Rubberduckistan is almost impossible, and striking with terror-tactics only alienate the very people we wish to liberate. Help us in FreeDuckistan at Quackmail.net or any other me.....*Transmission drowns in static as Rubberduckistani radio-listening post jams it*

(OOC: This is the start of the resistance movement in Rubberduckistan, so feel free to jump in with TG or just participating.)

"They found us!" one resistance man yelled. "Get out by the tunnel. They´ll be here any minute. I´ll cover you."

"Yevno, theý will kill you. We all go, or we all stay."

"Little Katjuska" Yevno took his paternal tone "They heard mans voice, and if they find me, there is a chance they think I did it alone. You´ll have better chance to escape."

Two girls and three boys climbed down the basement trapdoor and crawled into tunnel hidden behind sacks of potatoes. Yevno closed the panel and covered it with sacks again. He heard the helicopter approaching. He took his fathers old TT-pistol, and sighed. He did not even have ammunition for it, but it would as well. He had to die, lest he betrays the revolution.

"This is the police! Come out with your hands up. Any attempt of resistance is met with lethal force. This is your one and only warning" loudspeaker blared.

Yevno felt strange calm coming over him as he stepped out of the with Tokarev in hand. He did not take have time to take second step.....

The dark-suited agent walked the streets of Rubberduckistan. He was one of the top 10 agents of the AGAFIA anti-fascist agency, and had been listening to the radio when the transmission had been recieved.
I must find the resistance...Perhaps I can provide some help.

He had been wandering the streets for a while now. He decided to return to the apartment the agency had purchased for the purpose of basing a resistance movement within the nation. He had arranged to have other agents out there, looking for the resistance, telling them where to go, but he had little hope of finding the resistance fighters before the government finished off the movement.
Goddamnit...This was a bad idea.
He felt the desert eagle nestled in the holster under his jacket. Naturally, hundreds of small kevlar scales were fitted inside the jacket, making it protective, comfortable, and concealed.
I hate waiting...
He sat in an armchair in front of the fireplace. It was a large apartment. The agency had bought several apartments, then converted them into one. They also fited hidden compartments behind wall panelling. Guns could be hidden there. If he could find the resistance.Officially he was part of a diplomatic team sent in to see if it was possible to get trade with Rubberduckistan, so he had diplomatic immunity. He just hoped the government didn't just ignore it and shoot him if they found out what was in his apartment. He stared at the fire, at his suitcase, filled with local currency (courtesy of a local bank-robbing group, now deceased), at the ceremonial swords, mounted above the fireplace. He had all he needed. All the things except people.

Katja dodged into back-alley in silent streets of the city, to avoid passing police-apc with troops looking suspiciously around. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v433/drStraydog/motorrifle3.jpg
She was cold and hungry, as she dared not to go home, fearing that police might be waiting there. Two days she had wandered Grampustads streets, just dozing off in some remote corner.

"Damn Yevno, and his stupid idea. What do we know about revolutions and toppling goverments? And now he is probably dead....Before they even had chance to really fight. When will be my turn?" She looked at fancy looking apartmenthouse."They probably don´t bother to look me in there. (OOC: Ankh, that would be your house. Hope you like it.) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v433/drStraydog/FassaadS.jpg

Duckzhynski Square 13, Headquarters of the State Security Directorate, Prisoner Hospital-level.

Two grim-looking men looked at Yevno as he laid in hospital bed. Nurse left the room after she had checked the patient.

"Incredible that he is still alive, after being riddled with bullets, he should be dead" colonel Krachenkov noted. "Still, if he ever wakes up, he will wish he had died. Did ltn. Yuchenkov find anything else? His damn report still hasn´t arrived."

"They found radio-transmitter, built part by part handmade. That´s how they got it without any of our informants did not get wind out of it" captain Rokossovski, Krachenkov´s aide answered. "I´ll send men to question the parts dealers in the morning."

The intercom in the apartment clicked. The agent walked over to the box on the wall, and turned on the speaker.
"There's someone at the door. Someone we have a file on."
"An 'F' file?"
"No. An 'R' file. Possible Rubberduckistan Resistance fighter.Do I open up the door?"
"Let them in. We'll see what we can do.If they aren't resistance...Make sure no-one sees them enter."
"Yes sir."
The doors of the apartment swung open, creaking slightly as they did so. External speakers, not loud, just enough to hear clearly switched on.
"Come inside.Third door on the right."

Katja almost fainted when she saw agent. "Trap? No, they would not bother to let me in. They´d just drag me to car, and take me to station."

She looked nervously around, when she heard the wail of police siren outside.
"Just who are you people? I don´t want any trouble....."

(Behind the scenes info: The escaped resistance members scattered, and Katja has been on the run for two days. Yevno is in SSD´s custody, in coma, unknown to other members. SSD did not publicize the capture. Current resistance operates in cells of 4-8 members, leader knowing the next contact. What was left out from start, is that Yevno told the others the contacts name.)

OOC: @Ankh, sometimes. It´s easy to make "combat photos" with OFP to enliven the story, but I don´t have many ready, and staging the photos take some effort if one uses custom animations.

@Theao, sure, just jump in. :)

Katherine Leang, head of the CIA, knew and saw all in the world. That was, after all, her job, as CIA Director, she had to keep watch over any events or persons that threatened Upper Xen, or would give it good press and cleanse its conscience. Least of all, it would give her good points with the next administration, it was close to an election year.

She presisded over the recent audio dispatch from a certain nation called Rubberduckistan, playing the tapes, listening to them on her headphones. A supposed resistance movement had issued a statement asking for aid, pleading for help, like a maiden locked in a tower.

A resistance in Rubberduckistan? If this was real, then supporting this would effictively ensure Upper Xen a stable ally in the future.

She then stopped the tape, took off the heeadphoines, and sat back.

She thought about this long and deep........there had to be some way to get weapons and supplies to them.

She then hit on an idea. The CIA operated a secret airline it used, General Transport. This airline would give aid clandestinely, much like Air America did in Laos, to anybody that would resist oppression, or Communism.

In this case, it was oppression. Leang thought again, decided that this would be a win-win scenario, with democracy being restored, her job secure, and Upper Xen's good name secure, and called her Secretary.

"Jacky? Get the Head of Logistics. Tell him to activate General Transport, and tell their pilots to start memorizing maps of Rubberduckistan. And get some men on the ground. We're going in."

"We are...An agency. We aim to curtail fascist regimes and certain kinds of dictatorial regimes in order to stabilise world events. Our area of operation recently expanded into rubberduckistan. Not even the local government knows who we are. There is some doubt as to wether they even know we are here. We heard your broadcast and thought we could help the resistance by supplying weapons, equipment, money and safehouses. We have all of those things here. You must realise however, that should you be captured we could not help you, and would have to disown the entire operation. The best we could do to help would be to supply you with the means to...Make sure you do not betray your comrades. This offer will stand as long as it has to. In the meantime, this place is being offered as a safehouse to resistance members. You are more or less safe here.Drink?I need to contact the leadership of your resistance movement."

The agent walked around the officedeep in thought, weighing up the different possibilities.

"I am ready to go sir, all weapons are ok, 1 month's worth of ration check, Ammunation for land assualt check and parachute check, sir what are your commands." Commodore Dingo Chavez told the pilot: "Jackson, you got be careful, we don't know where is the resistance hideouts and if you fighter is not careful you will kill the rebels by mistake and we will face a declaration of war by the government. We are the only nation capable of using the don pachi project (don pachi roughly means swarm of bees in japanese), so you got to be careful, attack military bases and if you need to assist the rebels attack on foot, remeber everything I taught you or the rebels and us will face an inevitable death. "I don't think I can do that. This suit has some use, as well as being stylish. It's armoured, has some cash in the lining, and has a holster in it. Plus, I'm in Section Z of a certain Nation's intelligence agency. I can't take the suit off. It's our unofficial uniform. It helps our image. It's also part of our insertion tactic. Part of our strategy is to look like we are part of the local government. And as for heavy....Do I look like a heavy?"

Lieutenant Anton Staros of the Altaeian Special Branch (ASB) watchfully scanned the vast, barren landscape of Rubberduckistan, clutching his binoculors in his quivering palms. Breathing heavily, he hastily signalled to his squad:

"Move out", he hissed

In unison, his squad rose and followed him to a small, yet complex rock formation, the dull thud of their military-grade boots echoing across the ground with an uncomfortable ease.

Staros was here on a veiled mission assigned to him by President Kurtos himself. As commanding officer of Eagle Squad, the most fiercely dedicated, committed and versatile of all outfits within the ASB, Kurtos had had no hesitation in turning to Staros this time around. Each soldier in the squad wore the ASB insignia on his sleeve with pride, and to all, it was the utmost form of symbolic inspiration. On what Staros knew was the most perilous and high-risk mission his men would ever face (the mission was assigned security-clearance level 5 - the highest possible), inspiration from any quarter - even from a piece of patterned embroidery - was most welcome.

The ASB had been the brainchild of the recently-elected President, whose headstrong idealism was often in conflict with a region renowned for it's propensity to destabilise - not to mention some of the older, more pragmatic members of his cabinet. Even Staros himself, an admirer of the President's unwavering conviction to the exporting and establishment of democratic institutions and political justice, could not help but feel the hubristic overtones in Kurtos' enthusiasm. Ten years in the line of duty, first in the Marines and now the ASB, had made him acutely suspicious of a politician's motives - no matter how noble and benevolent they were.

Suddenly, a low, soft voice could be heard from within the rock formation ahead. Glancing at his map, Staros believed this to be the location of a resistance, as pointed out by Colonel Manera of the Altaeian Intelligence Bureau (AIB).

He lowered his hand slowly, ordering his men to crouch. With their ASB-A9 rifles raised, they advanced warily ...

A second agent had been sent in to Rubberduckistan to observe agent Ajax. He had been following him all day, talking to him via an earpiece. At the worst, anyone who saw him would think he was with the Government, and stay clear. Or try and quietly kill him. But that would be a stupid thing to do.
"Ajax, this is Hector. I have a contact. He seems to be listening in on you. Moving to intercept."
He had spotted the Thaeo agent.of course, he had no idea who he really was. Could have been a pickpocket.
Ajax heard this.He turned to Katja. He whispered in her ear:
"We may be being followed. take an indirect route to the safehouse. There's a cellar entrance at the West side. There is a keypad code. The code is 434521. Make sure no-one follows you. Once you're in, security will hide you.I will meet you there to tell you more about our operation.I suppose I should tell you why my organisation has decided to help undermine local government.Quickly now."

"... and risk the operation being revealed to the world! This mission is an enormous risk at best, and if it leaks, those brassheads on the Tri-Services Committee would clamour even more fervently for the disbanding of the ASB. Are you prepared to risk that?"

"Of course not."

"General Kandor still believes Staros and his men are conducting an excersise on the Altaeia-Rubberduckistan border in infiltration techniques. That's how it's going to stay, Kurela. Got it?"

"Absolutely."

Kurtos sighed heavily and slumped into his chair, his head resting in his palms. In his own mind, he knew that the legacy of his Presidency rested upon the success or failure of this mission. The tiniest error would resonate in the annals of history for generations - with his name beside it. He was determined not to let that happen. However, he was even more determined to see the end of the illiberal, draconian and destabilising Rubberduckistani regime. Regional stability, he knew, lay in the hands of the scattered pro-democracy resistance ... and he was not going to stand by and watch from the sidelines. His duty demanded action.

"Who are you and who do you work for?Why are you here?Do you have any contacts?Answer these questions and I don't shoot you for breaking and entering the Ankhmeti embassy."

MT-LBv rumbled inside the base, screeching to halt in front of the spartan headquarters building. Rest of the squad, who had been towed behind the APC with skis, fanned out to cover the doors.

"Out, and no tricks!" Guards hustled the Staros and his men inside. Guns were locked away. "You. Captain wants to talk with you" sergeant called and directed Staros to office. Rest of the men were put into barrack room, with two man staying outside.

"I am captain Pavel Petrovitch Kaitsenkov" short, muscular middle-aged man greeted Staros. His easy smile contadicted with his cold gray eyes, giving the picture of man who could cut your throat while telling funny joke at the same time, and you´d die laughing. "Oh yes, the formalities. I know, you don´t tell me anything but name, rank, serial-number, right? Altaeian? We were informed about some movements across the border, but not so close. Are you *lost* I wonder? Terrible snowstorm, and you wandered across the border, missing all the zone markings? Or perhaps something else entirely....?"

The Citadel, Cathedral of Holy Mother.

"Katja walked calmly towards the miracle working icon, and kneeled. She felt the cloth at altar, and found mini-disc case hidden there. She palmed it quickly.

After exiting the cathedral, she walked briskly towards the railway station, so she could go back to Grampustad. At station her heart almost stopped.
It was surrounded by police-APC´s, and troops were conducting searches to passengers. Few were even stripsearched in plain sight. she thought about leaving, but the she noticed troops blocking the path back also. Were they looking for her?

Heart pounding, she took her place in the line. Then her turn came.

"Papers, please" police demanded. In any other situation Katja would have thought him good looking, especially in uniform, but now she was close to fainting.

"Your purpose of the visit here, comrade Ivanova?"

"My uncle is very ill, and I had to get medicine to him. I also prayed for him in the cathedral."

"May I see your bag?" It was more of an order than question, so Katja gave the her handbag.

"They did not have it" she blurted before policeman even opened the bag.
"It was out, but they promised to send it by mail as soon as they get it."

"Just what ilness your uncle has?"

"Umm.....malaria. He´s got really high fever, and I fear he might die."

"Malaria? Are you kidding me? Here, in Rubberduckistan?"

"Umm...yes. He worked in Black Marsh drainage canal. Got bitten by mosquito." (Only are in Southern Rubberduckistan, where there still is malaria.)

"I´m sorry. Hope they get the medicine in time....hey what this? GUN! GET DOWN!"

One nerdy looking man had drawn crude machine-pistol, and started spraying
bullets towards the police. "Death to opressors!" he screamed as bullets hit police and bystanders. Everyone on vicinity dived for cover, mothers protecting their children with their bodies. Police avoided returning fire, in fear of hitting the bystanders, until one covering sniper got the man in sight.
He pumped five bullets to mans torso, and three more to his head with HK94, before gunman fell.

Katja slipped away in chaos, and was soon sitting in the train. She had now six hours travel to Grampustad.

Staros curled his lips into wry smile as the Captain spoke, casually folding his arms and leaning back in his chair.

"Lost?", he replied to the Captain's mock question ...

"... well, orienteering was never my strong point in High School, see."

Staros continued to sit in a relaxed posture, lips pursed, staring vacantly at the Captain. He was a short, stocky man with thin, greying hair and a bitingly cold, grey stare - textbook interrogator. Staros had been through this mill on a multitude of occasions in training and in reality.

"Well", he continued, "seeing as you asked for standard protocol ..."

Staros maintained what was now a facade of smugness about his exterior. He understood completely the seriousness of the situation into which he had just been catapulted. A small band of specialists in the ASB had now become a lynchpin in a complex resistance movement that transcended civilian and military boundaries, and had clearly infiltrated the upper echelons of the Rubbderduckistani Armed Forces. For the sake of the mission and Rubberduckistan, he wished for the information he had just received to be true ...

... but Staros had been on too many infiltration, subversion and sabotage missions to express such gullibility.

"Now tell me", he began, "why should I place the safety of my men in your hands? Why would a man of your rank risk facing charges of treason and ultimately death? Why should I believe your motivations for aiding the resistance to be genuine?"

Staros paused as the Captain sighed heavily ...

"You do of course understand that I have to ask such questions?"

The Captain nodded in the affirmative, despite a look of mild shock on his face, as if Staros' scepticism was a matter of disbelief. Now it would seem, this not one's 'textbook interrogation'.

Staros leaned closer to the Captain and lowered his voice to a whisper.

"Say you are telling the truth. Say you are genuine and that your men are also in on this little operation. Can you guarantee the safe passage of my men to the resistance safehouse? Now I know you've offered a means of escape ... I just need further confirmation that there are no more guard houses along the route ..."

Staros paused for a moment before giving his answer. On the one hand, this may be an elaborate trap for ensaring himself and his men. On the other, it may very well be the only way to successfully complete the mission with minimum casualties. Intransigence would get him nowhere but a jail cell. He knew what choice to make.

"Very well, Captain", he replied, "I shall run the details over with my men."

The men were at first suspicious, and understandably so.

"This is texbook subversion!", exclaimed First Sergeant Janos Marek.

"You expect me to entrust my safety to a guy who just minutes ago jammed an AK into my spine! Are you insane?"

Staros sighed heavily.

"Insane? Well, we volunteered for this mission, didn't we?"

A small, pale-faced boy, who looked no older than sixteen or seventeen escorted them to the end locker, where their ASB-A9 rifles were kept. He is always skipping from field exercizes, and if I threathen him with expulsion from the unit, he runs behind his daddy´s party connections." Captain sighed. "Tell boys to prepare themselves.
