Darcordia is proud to announce today that archaic religious laws are at this very moment being brought to the National Congress. For the past years, as we are all well aware, Christianity has been forced upon our people. Perhaps as soon as tomorrow, we may find ourselves free to choose whatever religion we please. This would be a grand step in human rights for our great nation, and would free us all from this yoke of the government.

I have never seen such a foul and absurd retreat from progress.

Your "grand step" will mean your people are no longer protected from themselves.

Protect your people or someone else shall do it for you.

'This is a tremendous step forwards for you and your people, and for your nation in general. The freedom to follow whichever deity one wishes is the ultimate freedom, more important even than political freedoms in some respects. Should any of your people take any interest in following the Great Kemetic Gods, do not hesitate to let them call upon the priests of this nation for guidance.'

The soveriegn nation of Bergist would like to congratulate Darcordia in this grand step forward in civil rights. After all, what good is a religion if it is forced upon the people. It would be nothing more than religion without faith. We sincerely hope such progress continues in your nation.

Torokara - 2 Feb. 2005: Officials in Krioval were pleased to note today that the Free Land of Darcordia is now even more free. According to sources in that nation, as of midnight local time, years of forced monotheism will be abolished. Response abroad has ranged from muted to vociferous, from genteely supportive to aghast and accusatory. Andruik Dova, Spiritual Advisor in Krioval, was noted to have said "It's about time that the specter of forced 'One God' rule be eliminated. Krioval too suffered under similar ancient precepts until the Great Gods revealed themselves to us. Our population is happier and more productive as a result."

Ever willing to speak on such causes, even Chancellor Raijin Dekker had a few words to add. "It is a great day for democracy," Dekker offered, head bowed ever so slightly. "We pray for the continued liberty and safety of our respected neighbors in Darcordia."

The Heretical Monks have pondered upon the significance of the weighty act of giving up Christian laws. They have decided that if Christians are ruled by laws and not principles, then they have not learned very much from their namesake and have instead backslid into statutes.

Their penance shall be to carry every translation of their Great Book up and down a very steep hill, tag team style, until they collectively collapse.

So sayeth the Heretics.

The United Osea States has all religions except Judism and Christianity illegalized, and is not even thinking about changing those laws. Although this is a step towards corrupted progress, we urge that you reform your laws.

The reporter swivled around in his chair to face the viewing audience, a genuine smile across his face.

Good morning, Darcordia. As of yesterday evening, the Darcordian National Congress closed debate on the issue of state enforced religion and, in a landmark decision, 73 to 8, the laws concerning enforced religion have been repealed. The people of Darcordia are now free to choose whatever relgion they please and practice it freely. No more are the days of forced religion.

In related news, many members of the community have stated interest in the construction of mosques, sabbat meeting locations, and monastaries. It would appear all religion has received a great upswing, and even the Christian churches throughout Darcordia have seen a grand upswing in attendence. Says one church-goer:

"It just feels good to know this is my choice now...You kind of lose faith when its spoonfed to you."

We'll be right back, after a quick break.

The news broadcast fades out, replaced by a commercial for toothpaste.

We must condemn this move in the strongest possible terms, such a move it not in the greater interests of the Darcordian people, especially since you are potentially opening the door for Satanic influences into your society. This is most displeasing indeed, such a loss of faith from a Government is the most hideous of crimes.

The Congress of Darcordia would like to thank all those who have supported us in this grand step forward. For all others, we ask you ask the same question the Congress debated during these length hearings. What good is religion without faith? Repeated polls from varying demographics showed a startling drop in faith, despite manditory church sessions. Christian education problems were beginning to meet almost violent resistance. In the end, we did as the people most desired, and with the best results for all. There has been a great upswing of religion in the past days and we feel for a religion to be healthy in any sense it must be heartfelt.
