Sarzonia

[OOC: This will be announced after the war between the SAP coalition (Sarzonia, Artitsa, Praetonia) and Roach-Busters and its allies. I got the idea after reading the text of the Monroe Doctrine and decided to get writing. This will not be an IC post until then, so OOC feedback only, please.]
In our time as an independent nation, we have come to realize that it is only the use of military power, or its threatened use that can deal effectively with countries that openly challenge our democratic system of government. The lessons of history have shown us with conclusive proof that establishing a policy of appeasing would-be enemies is ineffectual and does nothing to dissuade those enemies from further attacks. The Barbary corsairs did not cease their attacks on American merchant ships until the United States sent its navy to forcibly ensure their cooperation. Adolph Hitler did not cease his aggressive actions as a result of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain’s policy of appeasement. It was only through one of the bloodiest, most violent armed conflicts in the 20th century that ultimately ended Hitler’s reign of terror.
Sarzonia has long embraced a policy of non-intervention with countries that commit acts short of outright genocide. In addition, we have pursued a policy of co-existence with countries whose systems of government and individual ideals differ from our own. However, this policy has been sorely tested by Roach-Busters. That country was at one time considered a close ally of ours, but it became painfully evident to us that a policy of condemnation and political pressure was no longer sufficient to end the terrible atrocities inflicted upon the people of Roach-Busters. We must remain at the ready to protect our friends and allies, but in addition, we must be prepared to wield military power to prevent the sorts of atrocities that the government of Roach-Busters inflicted upon its own people.
In short, we have determined through one of the bloodiest wars fought in our history that policies of appeasement and disarmament are ineffective tools for ensuring peace. It is only through the use of force or the threat of force that the peace is obtained. As such, it shall henceforth be our doctrine that a strong military that combines equal strength in all branches be used as a vital tool to ensure that our interest and those of free peoples everywhere are preserved for all eternity. Deterrence does not come through a policy of disarmament; it comes from being successfully able to intimidate one’s foes.
