(Earth VI) Operation Klondike-North

Gaian Ascendancy

The first units to attack, came through the dead moonless night, as units of Excellency's own Angel Command Trinary begins to move at high speed through the border.

The fifteen Heavy and Assault Class OmniMechs simply walk over the few border checkpoints in the way, not even stopping to fire, or even notice. That task fell to a few platoons of the local Colony Guard, supported with an Angel God in ech unit.

Aleaic himself was leading the invasion, as he saw fit to prove his forces in an offensive operation. His Behemoth-IIC OmniMech crushed on through the night. Outside on the upper torso, leaning on a Medium EX-Pulse Laser cannon, Ifurita herself was keeping tabs the advance Angel God elements that had moved forward the previous night.

About five minutes later, the operation began in earnest, as whole Clusters, both on the ground, as well in DropShips in low station keeping orbit, suddenly roared across the Colony Borders to their objectives.

Hundreds of Mechs, Mobile Suits, OmniFighters and conventional assets moved with severity of purpose. Naval forces meanwhile were quickly supported by the High-Mobile Fleet, as the hybrid Warships erupted from the ocean. Marine Legion Clusters also began to race toward their landing points.

A new era was beginning.

Operations Summary: NS Days +1 - +5

The Operation was conducted with major weather assistance from the Colony Climatizer Stations, keeping the skies clear for Waves One and Two. Wave Three would begin with light snows predetermined to all throughout the North American Region, ending with major blizzards to hit as Wave Three was ended. This was to help prevent any foreign reaction forces from acting quickly. Added, the Angel God forces had already been trained to operate in near-zero visibility conditions, and that the High-Mobile Fleet would act as ‘warning op-zones’ of incoming attacks along either sea, air or space approaches.

Wave One: The outset of the operation begins with a three dimensional blitzkrieg from both land, sea and space, as the CAG Tourman units quickly breach across the border, linking up with Angel God units of the 2005th PGC within N. Dakota, S. Dakota, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Alberta that strike and capture several airfields of all sizes to move airlifted Infantry of the 319th and 2170th Strike Clusters. Meanwhile the 88th and 192nd SpecOps Units quickly strike to capture communication centers in all the major capitals of the targeted region.

Meanwhile, High-Mobile Warships of the 12th Facet move forward from undersea spots all along the British Columbian coast, supporting the 1st, 6th and 12th Marine Legions, as they land at Ocean Falls, Vancouver Island, and Prince Rupert respectively. They move in conjunction with the 8710th and 8728th Solar Clusters, which quickly take Vancouver in a lightning strike and move on as the Z/31st Solahma moves in behind. All seven Sector Fleets blockade the entire coastal area of British Columbia, as the High-Mobiles Prometheus, Fortress, Kamidake and Angelisus move in to support the various DropShip landings.

Alpha Galaxy takes the ‘center’ of the invasion, as the Angel Command Trinary leads the 1st and 2nd Seraphim Clusters to capture Regina within Saskatchewan. The 12th Heavy Armor Assault Cluster moves in to support, as the 12th Goddess Wing Cluster moves in to take air superiority. As Regina is quickly taken in four hours, the 12th Heavy Armor sweeps in on the left to take Swift Current and Rosetown.

The 12th Angel Keshik and ilUniverse Command Trinaries lead the 15th Emerald Wingfire and Z/26th Solahma into Alberta as Tourman Two Strategic Galaxy also supports them from the left, as they cut through Calgary to head northeast to Edmonton.

Meanwhile, DropShips of the 12th and 14th StarLord Fleets drop the bulk of Epsilon Galaxy throughout the target zones, with the 2nd Gray Angels sent to capture Bismarck and Pierre in North and South Dakota respectively. The 3053rd with a Star each, takes La Roche, Fort Vermilion and Fort Nelson in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia respectively. The 17th Diamond Wingfire and Beta Dark Angel also is dropped in to both support these attacks, and cut off these regions from uncaptured areas from each other. They then move hard for the eastern borders of N. and S. Dakota hard, taking Sioux Falls and Fargo by morning of +2.

By midday of +2 of the invasion, forces have moved in to all assigned zones, as Angel Gods continue to screen the overall advances by taking minor strategic points. The most notable is when 1st Phalanx Guards is send enmasse to take Uranium City in the far north of Saskatchewan. A group of locals that learned of the invasion, set up a hasty militia defense. The sight of simple bullets being deflected aside by the Angel God’s Staff shields caused the fight to end with no loss of life, or even injury.

Overall, no major resistance is encountered as the shock of the Wave One overcomes all objectives. Meanwhile, by +3 all Colony forces have set up defense zones along all approaches of the southern borders of the Montana, Wyoming, Washington and Idaho Colonies. Air superiority is obtained by the combination of the Colony Aero-Wings, Angel Two Combat Command and the 92nd Goddess Wing Cluster.

In reserve and support of the supply move up, the 28th Heavy Armor leads the supply move up, with Tourman One Strategic Galaxy moving along all flank approaches. The 1st Angel PGC acts as the major deterrent by dispersing throughout the various advances, capturing isolated pockets along the way. The only occurrence during this stage is when a Timber Wolf and Mad Dog Mech pair moves through La Plant, South Dakota Territory. A number of protesters stage a rally against the incursion, which only makes the pair move northward for a kilometer before moving back east to capture the bridge passing over Lake Oahe. In fact, all attempts by protesters or individuals with simple weapons are avoided.

On +5, The Marine Legions linkup with 8710th Solar at Saint Gorge, then link up late in the evening with the 415th/C Planetars of the 3053rd at Fort Nelson, before a final push to take Summit Lake. Finally a two day hold up is called to bring up supplies for Wave Two. The High-Mobiles meanwhile establish a low atmosphere superiority zone, allowing the OmniFighters of Alpha Angelicia AeroStar-Galaxy to free the surface airport and bases captured for the Aero Dimension and Quick Deployment assets.

End Wave One Report Summary.

GANN: ~ The following news release has been sent out from the Gaian Foreign Advisory Office in response to the invasion of the north and east territories, adjacent to the Colonies.

*Cut scene to Lord Tenchi Masaki, head of the Masaki BloodHouse*

"I will say this simply, as my Excellency wishes.

We are doing this for two reasons. One, we have looked upon these territories as those we had wanted to claim, and we are asserting this claim.

We realize this is thin excuse, but we have a larger purpose to impart. The Ascendancy wishes to continue our auspice as a Shield of honor. But to give this premise a foundation, we have, as my Lord imparts: 'bare our teeth'.

It's our intent to show the world at large, that our actions will give merit to our basic premise, by giving it respect, both good and ill, as does all things, so that the 'future' actions of our nation will have it's own history.

Also, our expanding population will gain access to territories usually uninhabited by other than local groups. Be it known, that we intend to give full citizenship rights and civil liberties upon consolidation of these new gains.

To the rest of the world, we 'will' defend these new territories, as if they were the Homeland Itself. We attempt however to have the world recognize these acts, 'after' we have settled affairs and all into a peaceful state.

Until then, we are at a war footing, and all forces will act accordingly until further notice."

Also, we have learned a limited information blackout will be in effect for the duration of this operation. We do however know that the Science Advisory at the NASI has issued an advisory that weather patternes 'will' be changed drastically shortly before the completion of this operation. Timelines however have not been revealed. ~

*Day +5*

A squad of Marines are moving through the small town, as several Light Scout Mechs move through and set up a defensive screen as per standard procedure. A Mist Lynx and two Pumas move to about 500 years from the town, as a couple of TOW-HUMMVEEs shadowed them. The hyper-cold air though limited the physical presence to mainly Mechs. The Marines were out to officiate the surrender of the town.

"Do you subscribe to obey the laws of the Ascendancy with inclusion of your own?" Star Commander Pel`gair asked the locak town mayor. All about the white streets of Prince George, the locals were in muted amazement of seeing this amount of weaponry about. Some voiced their opposition to this, but only were warned back with soft voices in return whenever they got too close.

The Gaians had no intention of imprisoning anyone, and in fact, this minor official act was to reassure the locals that the Gaians were 'not' going to destroy their way of life.

More, it's 'that' way that would keep civil order and a sense of realism during the operation. Town Mayor Green was assured of this at least twice prior to the 'invasion', that nothing would change, except for what the Gaians enjoyed in the southern Colonies. It wasn't a blind acceptance, since it 'was' an invasion of soverengty.

But then, he governed over a town of ice mainly. No exactly a warrior either.

While the sounds of OmniFighters roared through the mountain valley, the mayor simply nodded. "I will 'reluctantly' abide."

Star Commander Pel`gair only nods. "Welcome to the Ascendancy Mayor." ..at that, Pel`gair turns around.. "LETS MOVE IT OUT!!!" ..and he returns to his Mad Dog Mech, ready to move to the next objective. Thankfully, only harsh voices had met his forces, and not angry shouts of guns. They were on time table at present.

A platoon of Marines were left behind, as they waited for rear echelon to catch up for the next few hours. The forward units of the 8710th begin moving forward again.

..next objective: Chetwynd.

*Day +5; 1834 Hrs Local*

Aleaic had dropped outside his Mech to take a quick breather, as well as the get his Commanders together for the next push. The cold air upon his blue and white coolant suit pretty 'brisk', but more than enough to wake him up fully. It'd had been a full day again.

Ifurita stood watchful a few meters away, as Aleaic took off his Neurohelmet, specially crafted to look like a ivory carving of several Angel Wings upon a crystal 'background'. A characture of the Gaian House Flag of the Kerensky Bloodline, a GAC Star upon a galaxy, was the fina adornment. It was somewhat thick, 3.2 kilograms, and filled with Comm nodes and connections, especially those of the holo interface, that fed him the overall tactical and strategic data from the entire invasion, at a whim.

..all this made the helmet weary to wear for long periods. Aleaic was wiping his head, while he waited for the others. The slowly approached from their Mechs, as well as strode in with their Elemental Battlesuits, also quickly coming were the advance Commander guard of the Angel God advance.

Within ten minutes, everyone nearby was gathered.

They were just southwest of Wollaston Lake.

Aleaic just nods to every salute given, then calls up a holo map with a Tactical Padd Unit. It displayes the area near the large lake. Aleaic saw the cold was telling on them, and kept it short.

"We are here, and the link up with the 1st Phalanx at Uranium City. We'll head hard north and take the three towns along the way, which should stabilize the line of the advance.

..We should be there by midnight, and I want this push done by then. The first soul that contacts the link up first will get a nice bonus." A murmur of wanting spikes the ranks.

Aleaic then looks at the Angel God Commander. "Ifurt-Croistan. I want your closest Star to secure the approach from the right flank as we advance past this lake.

..the 4th Seraphim Trinary will take the far left flank and circle to take the Cold Lake weapons range, and then link up at Uranium City as well.

The rest just drives hard for the link up. Any questions?"

The Cluster Commander of the 2nd Seraphim, Commander Aurthas Kamiki asks. "Are we doing this without conventional support still?"

Aleaic sighs. "Have too, the dang area is lacking roads. They'll catch up slowly. I don't anticipate their help at the present. Still, the Athena Shield will be giving Aero support cover as we advance, so we should be crystal.

Anything else?"

Ifurita then asks. "You mentioned a bonus?"

Aleaic shuts down the Padd and simply says.. "When we get there, you'll know." ..with a smirk, hefting his Neurohelmet again." Ifurita simply replies back. "Then all the faster to complete this, so that 'I' learn of it."

Aleaic just smirks back and dismisses the Commanders. Just as Aleaic buttons himself into the cockpit again, he low keys to Ifurita.. "Remember that cache of Canadian Whiskey back in Prince Albert yesterday?"

Ifurita is actually suprised. The stuff 'was' 26 years old. "I'm impressed." ..she responds.

Aleaic then shuts the cockpit and restarts the Mech.

*Day +7; 0943 Hrs local - Summit Lake, British Columbia*

The cold early morning was clamping on rather hard, as the rear echelon was moving up as quick as they could throughout the Invasion zone. Point Commander Renshen Johnson was having a semi-warm meal with his Point mates of the 288th/Odyssey Archon Trinary. His Elemental Point was having trouble enjoying the meal, since the steam would partially freeze each bite of breakfast.

"Someone remind me again why were up here?" Point Warrior Galen asks after a bite has a bit too much of an icy 'crunch' in it.

"Land and resources pretty much." Warror Jennifer replys back, trying to eat a quick bite before it freezes, but trying to avoid second degree burns.

Nearby, some supply trucks were rolling by, with M2 Bradleys spaced amid them. The supply route was also well guarded by several M1A2s and partoling Serpent Mobile Suits. Off to the east is the barely visible image of the Yamato-Azusa as it hovered over the landscape as both a sensor platform, and mobile aero base for the 48th Goddess Wing.

The 288th had been moving hard to be in position for the next wave, as the 8710th nearby both prepared the same, and consolidated the British Columbian area. The 12th Marine Legion was also consolidating as they moved up, freeing more and more of the 8710th Cluster for the front.

Despite the speed, action had been lacking. Point Commander Renshen wondered himself if this would be worth it. Of course the answer was obvious, but the cold tended to damper spirits. (-60C degree weather the previous night made sleep 'problematic'.

Still, the cold made movement easier, as the tundra was solid, and ice thick everywhere. Still, they had been moving well, and morale was high, even with the food icing.

"Well, take your rest in any case, we move out tomorrow if the plan is adhered to." Renshen says to the others, then taking a burn-ice filled bite.

"Can we invade the carribean after this wave?" Jennifer asks. Renshen replies. "I think it was already taken."

The sound of a Timber Wolf Mech stomping by drowns out the laughter.

*Day + 8; 0500Hrs*

A Star of Gold Facet Angel Gods moved with dedicated speed through the night, as the Green Facet force driving for Fort Smith followed quickly behind.

However the winds were picking up, not a coincidence, but the first sign of the Climatizers being set for the coming winter storm. This blew snow drifts all about the advance of the 15th Emerald. Conventional Fighter cover was limited, but the Promethius was covering the push with the 32nd Goddess Archon Wing. They had cover enough.

There were no words. Only focus.

-------

Wave Two: Day + 8 begins as the Angel Command Trinary, 1st and 2nd Seraphim Clusters and 12th Heavy Armor Cluster with support from the Nadesico and the 12th Goddess Wing Cluster move almost as one to strike into the Northwest Territories, focusing on linking up through Fort Providence to Wrigley, to meet the 15th Emerald Wingfire and the 28th Heavy Armor that finished regrouping most of it’s force to strike through Meander River to take Enterprise in Northwest Territories, before moving to Wrigley.

The 1st Marine Legion supported the 8710th and the reserve 288th Passover Cluster to spearhead the Yukon Theater invasion, focusing on Whitehorse in a pincer movement along Canadian Route 1 into Route 2. The moved north fast with the 48th Goddess Wing lending air cover from the High-Mobile Angelisus.

By +11 however, only CAG Tourman Forces could finish Wave Two, though the 2544th Infantry Cluster slowly moved up to consolidate holdings. The lack of a road network kept most of the non-Mech units from assisting the Northwest Territory invasion past Yellowknife and Fort Simpson. However the 288th and 1st Marine Legion were able to take Fort McPherson, along with towns leading up to Tutoyaktuk This linked CAG forces with the 20th Ascendancy Fleet, which had sneaked through the Bering Sea into the Arctic Ocean, to reach the Beaufort Sea gulf, during the duration of Waves One, leading into Two.

The 1st Marine Legion then was tasked with capturing Holman, Victoria Island within Yukon Territory on day +14, just as the 2nd Seraphim took Kugluktuk, essentially linking the two invasion prongs. The Angel Command and the 1st Seraphim then linked up with the dropped Solar Galaxy Command SuperNova Trinary and 1011th Angel Phalanx Cluster near Port Radium. More Angel Gods of the 2005th PGC finished up the Wave on day +14, by taking Tuktut Nogait National Park, suprising a group of ‘lonely’ park rangers huddled in a meager station in -46C degree weather.

*Day +10 1126Hrs; Arctic Sea*

"I don't CARE! Keep that ice off the runways, I want them clear!"

The Flight Controller of the Nimitz Class vessel Galaron kept barking every few minutes as the deck crew kept whining that the sea salt kept icing up on the flight deck 'also' every few minutes. Even though sea salt should do this, it wasn't obeying physicis well at the present, as the -53C degree weather was playing total havoc with the air. A small squall not too far away, outside the Climatizer umbrella, to the north, was the main culprit.

Still, Admiral Washington sighed, looking out at the mess the 20th Republic Fleet was going through. The Flight Controller's yelling wasn't helping his weary mind.

"Tell me we're still on course."

A Lieutenant answers back. "Aye. Still heading due east. We're down to 12 knots though with the wind."

The Admiral just looks out his nearby viewport at the gray dusk environment. "Damn. We'll be late at this rate."

The Admiral then looks over at a tactical screen table nearby in the Conning Tower. It showed the extreme northwest portion of the Yukon and some of the Northwest territories. Ihere were no IFF idents from any CAG forces in the area as yet. They were all still a half day south from last report.

Annother Lieutenant comes in and approaches the Flight Controller. "Sir, Number Four won't jar loose. The ice is just too bad out there. They even used torches. Something still won't let it loose."

The Controller, a Commander by rank, wipes his face. "Then try blasting it loose. I don't CARE if it flies off in the wind. I want that dammed thing working!"

The Lieutenant looks agasp upon this, but only salutes with.. "We'll try again." ..less than enthused, before heading off."

The Admiral sees all this and only keeps his own counsel. It was obvious the launchers needed to work in time for the Marine link up, so that the Wave invasion of Victoria Island could be completed with the proper aero cover.

It'd had been a miracle to sneak the Fleet through the Bering Sea alone, now trying to push through the heavy sea ice, being broken up by three special ice breaker ships ahead of them. They needed air cover themselves to prevent any suprises.

Still, they had till tomorrow evening to make the link up, and despite the conditions, they were still going.

..Still the Admiral though, the Controller could use a break soon.

*Day +10; 1644Hrs; NASI Climatixer Center; Ascendancy Homeland*

Skuld was busy on her holoterminal with constant data feeds from the Colony Climatizer stations. Washu was also in the Computer Node Center trying to issue commands as fast as she could.

..the critical point had come for them. For the first time, weather was being harnessed in a deliberate manner in a military application.

"Oh for peats SAKE!" Washu overhears as Skuld shouts reflexively as she types back.. "...just destabilize at 40,000 feet! I don't cane HOW, just do it THERE!"

Washu snickers then types a fresh command for a Low Pressure gradient to be deepened by .6 percent over Alaska Territory.

The duo had been at this since daybreak. A few tech came in now and again, but mostly the two were left in the oversized Center to avoid others being caught in the usual tantrums the two were infamous for.

Not to mention the speed they worked in. They seemed to be going at it all unabated.

If this worked they both knew within at least minimums by the time Wave Three began, Climatizers would become world renown.

Presuming the blizzard they were setting in motion didn't kill their own troops.

Washu chuckles. "Better make sure Azusa has the troops outfitted properly." ..she had a whopper in mind.

*HOWL!!* Washu notes but barely feints a look. "Stop asking me so many dumb questions! The snow quotient will take care of itself! JEEZE!!"

Washu just snockers. Skuld though looks over with a dry look. "It's not that funny."

Washu just chuckles again and issues a new order for the Californian Territory.

*Day +12; 1251Hrs, 62 kilometers south west of Port Radium*

His footsteps are a trample, as he rushes forward towards the fallen Warhawk of his Command Star. His voice tries to carry in the frigid, blowing winds. "Is she okay!?!"

Aleaic reaches a small resuce party of three Angel Gods, as they pull Star Captain Ryoko Masaki from her Mech. Her Warhawk partially submerged and tipped over in a ice lake, hidden by too much snow for the sensors to accurately detect.

"I'm okay kid." Ryoko says as she's set down a shot distance away, her 'long' spiky cyan mane fluffing out in a cascade after removing her black neurohelmet. "Woke me up a good bit though."

Aleaic exhales a good bit. "Man you scared me there girl."

Ifurita then lands to Aleaic's left. "Looks pretty deep from my scans sire." Aleaic looks over. "How bout the rest of the area. It's like we walked into a natual mindfield."

Ifurita responds while Ryoko kicks at at the Warhawk's exposed upper right leg strut. "It's tough to tell. The snow and ice are getting tough to tell up here for some reason."

Aleaic calls over a tactical Padd. A Star Commander sets it up as the fallen Mech is assesed for recovery. Aleaic growls at what he sees. "Blast. The area is so broken up with ice rivers, it's stabbing into the landscape.

..man, we'll have to detour around it."

Aleaic looks at Ifurita. Once we manage to recover the Warhawk, we'll move more west and try to find a way through all this. We still need to reach the Nanut border and take Port Radium. We're not far off.

..take a Star and capture it ahead of us. We'll follow behind quickly."

Ifurita nods, just as a trio of Mobule Suits close in. Aleaic sees the suits of the 2nd Serpahim.. "This shouldn't take long, depending on the damage."

Ryoko comes up. "Anyone got a stiff drink?"

Ifurita jibes. "It won't warm you up."

Ryoko just hacks back. "Who cares bout that! I want a belt."

Aleiac just hands the shut-off Padd to the Star Commander, with.. "I thought you already got one.."

Aleaic just ignores the fuming anime-devil look of his trusted Star Captain.
