New Stamford

"We are essentialle egĂșl" The Mayor said, lapsing into the National Language (O LagĂșl Stamford) during his proposition speech to the assembled Massachusetts Council. "Joining us is a step forward that Massachusetts must take. Without us, Massachusetts will be absorbed into its nieghbors who know nothing of its ways, nor of its people. A vote for annexation onto New Stamford is a vote for protection and prosperity." The Mayor koff the stage, shaking hands with some of the more important assemblymen.

OOC: I am pushing for Massachusetts to allow annexation into New Stamford. Not my best work, I'm afraid (my best work is Frankenstien, but that bitch Mary Shelly stole the manuscript.)

We recommend to the Massachussets Council that they agree to incorporation into New Stamford. Only through incorporation under the aegis of the Pact of North American States can your state enjoy the commercial and defense benefits inherent in the Pact.

OOC: I know what you mean about plagarism. I've heard that Shakespeare took credit for many plays actually written by the Everly Brothers!

The reccomendation by West Cedarbrook weighed heavily on the minds of every councilman in the anteroom. They understood that without New Stamford, pirates or other agressors would tear Massachusetts apart. It was very likely that even now expansionist governments overses waited hungerly for Massachusetts to turn down New Stamford's offer.

"Those against it, please say 'nay' now." A few dozen nays were heard. No matter. The cacaphony of 'ayes' were more than enough, and Massachusetts now belonged to New Stamford. Those naysayers knew this, but they voted in the negative as a matter of principle. Although the government would be more or less the same, a few Massachusettsmen believed that Massachusetts could survive without the pact and by itself.

Thankfully, they were few.

On January 29, 2005, Massachusetts signed soveriegnity over to New Stamford. Massachusetts became the Sixth Land of New Stamford.
