“The time, is ten o’clock, and now the news with Edmond Hayes.” *Intorduction Music*
*Drum Beat* “Increased Violence in the middle east. Prime Minister calls for a halt to the blood shed.”
*Drum Beat* “Ambassador Williams leaves for Russia to discuss the current situation in Europe.”
*Drum Beat* “Panteran Naval fleet arrives in London.”
*Drum Beat* “Germany under Attack. War again in Europe?”
“And our main headlines.” *Drum Beat* “All British Naval forces, and forces serving on foreign soil have been recalled. Reports of war emanate from Buckingham Palace.”
“The time is one minute past ten, I am Edmond Hayes and welcome to the ten o’clock news. Moving onwards with our main headline. BBC News has received disturbing reports of large scale troop movements across the Empire. A leak from Buckingham Palace has reported the activation of all Home Guard regiments, and the arrival of large contingents of Naval forces in all ports across the United Kingdom. For more details we go to Heather Jamison at the Faslane Naval base in Scotland.”
*The Screen changes to a wet and windy night with a woman bracing herself against the winter winds.*
“Good Evening Edmond, yes the reports are all coming in quick and fast regarding the expected arrival of the Northern fleets, and I can tell you now, those reports are underestimated. If you look behind me you can see in the distance the HMS Trident, a vessel scheduled to be running patrols in the southern Hemisphere, next to her is the HMS Revenge, which is also scheduled to be in the southern Hemisphere. It appears that the Admiralty is recalling most of its Naval assets to defend London and the United Kingdom.”
*The screen flicks back to Edmond* “Has there been any other signs if increased military alert?”
*Heather appears on the screen again.* “There is vast evidence that the country is on an increased military state. Only yesterday when we were passing through Glasgow did we notice the sheer amount of military personnel on Argyle Street alone. People have been contacting the News Desks informing us of the sheer amount of Activation letters arriving in their homes. We have even heard the silent rumble of the Home Guard being brought back into service.”
*Edmond appears on the screen again. “What do you think could constitute, what appears to be such an over-reaction from the government?”
“Well Edmond, the Admiralty has released only four hours ago a detailed report regarding a military conflict in the North Sea. Germany has become militarised again, and is currently under the brunt of a justified offensive assault. The Government is understandably anxious regarding the current situation in Europe, with the concentration camps reactivated and Germany massing weapons of mass destruction it only seems prudent to prepare for the worst. We have it from a top military General that Germany is expected to win the upcoming war, and with their military units active and all along the coast it would be easy for them to try and launch an invasion. His Majesty is only providing some deterrence against that.”
“What about Security Procedures Heather, have they been stepped up?”
“Not as yet, however the naval base has been put on a lock down situation. The protestors at the main gate have all been arrested under the terrorism act. A prudent measure in case of an enemy infiltrator. As a result the foreign office advises all British Citizens not to travel over the next few weeks. Back to you Edmond.”
