Vastiva goes to the Yukon [Earth III]
The 10th and 331st Corps hunkered down along the long barriers separating them from the Yukon. In the short time the Vastivan's had been here, the border had been changed from a long line of mostly snow and ice into a long line of mostly snow and ice - covering a bunker system.
Captain Iquaara rubbed her hands together idly, wondering if the weather was going to continue to improve. If it stayed so warm, a resort might be in order down the line. Idly, she began to sketch out a plan... something on the coast, maybe, near the Juoshian ruins. At least they'd be put to some use that way, rather then something of an eyesore - or a recycled mess.
Slowly, cities and ports took shape. Great care was taken to look over the ruins, such as they were. Some things of value were taken as a result, including the reciepe for a decent smoked lager.
The first batch would be potable by the new year.
The Captain had her hands full on the border - "suggestions" from Sharina had them going this far and no further - but it still was a very long border to watch.
Perhaps there was some sensibility to the suggestion.

Howdy Neighbor! We'll be setting up camp over here. Our border will be fortified, but we have no intention of moving an inch into your turf.
We'd be gratified if you leave the rivers, particularly the Yukon, unpolluted and undamed for now, as the rivers are a major feature of this particular slab of land, and most are usable as both fisheries and waterways.
If its all the same to you, we'll just sit here a spell and enjoy ourselves. As part of our "good neighbor plan", we'll gladly inform you of any air or sea traffic moving your way. We will also happily work with your law enforcement people about border crossings, and do ask for the same from you.

OOC: During the gold rush, the entire area was "the Yukon". The Yukon river is also found in Alaska. In short, I'm in the Great North.
If I was interested in invading him, he'd have gotten a telegram stating so. And I'd be doing something besides building bunkers and rebuilding society.
Nuff said? No invading going on.

Whall, We'd like to fulfill all yer requests, but the Yukon is water six months out of the year, and having an embassy in the middle of a river is a messy business. 'Lessen you were talking about the landmass called the Yukon, in which case y'all need to chat with Chimaea about the airport.
As to the Embassy, well sure! We are always interested in havin' guests over to sit a spell, particularly those who show up as friendly. Today, at 0242 Greenwich Mean Time, Vastiva successfully launched a Juneau-6 rocket, carrying a payload of an OVERSIGHT satellite. Launch Pad officials celebrated the launch, and announced the success marked the opening of its Eielson Space Facility, though at only a portion of its projected ability. Alaskan officials at Nunam Iqua also announced today a surplus of crude oil was projected in the coming and every year following. It is hoped this surplus can be sold to neighboring or nearby countries at a profit, which would put the colony on more stable financial ground.
