OOC: excuse the megadeth reference. It's mildly ironic in this case.

This is my presentation of my missile defence system, I would like feedback, particularly as to how many defense and observation sattelites i can throw up in the sky.

IC legality: Use of this technology is acceptable as most modern nations have it. However using this system will lead to legal or military action. Existing systems, or systems researched afterwards, that happen to be simular or identical are also acceptable as there is no theft in developing your own system. (OOC: so basically don't steal the idea ICly, if you do it OOC, you better spend a lot of time and money making a very simular system)

IC:

Notquiteaplace is proud to unveil our missile defence system. While it has been working effectively for a very long time, we are finnally able to say that it is finnally finsihed until our next leap in technology.

Our system is a multi layered anti missile system designed to work from several different points to create an exceptionally tight net. Over $300bn (and increasing) are spent on it every year, mainly maintaining, replacing old missiles and sattelites and testing. It has been built with funds outside this.

The system itself has been dubbed the "Polaris II" system and represents what we consider the pinnacle of defense. It relies not only on sattelites but long range radar and SAMs for defense. This makes it very hard to overwhelm as these SAMs protect Notquiteaplace from all hostile flying objects.

The system itself monitors and registers all air traffic, with staff confirming or denyng any attacks on un registered targets. Naturally all civilian and commercial jets are identified and catalogued, as are any visitors. Weapons launched by these can be ignored or attacked at operator discretion.

The system itself works by using a huge number of long range radar to scan for incomings, while at the same time, many sattelites use optical, IR and other frequency identification to spot incomings from above.

Initially all sattelites were observers, however as defensive ones were added space began to become short. This version mounts weapons on observation sattelites, while addtional defense sattelites supplement this. There are also a few anti sattleite units, equipped with countermeasures and long range missiles for removal of units that threaten this system.

We may install this in highly esteemed nations for a good price. Our coverage is throughout our entire nation and includes a very large number of SAM sites, as the whole system is worth perhaps $2 tril and increasing. It's not possible to get much better coverage when you bear in mind we are located accross the Carribean. If you want this sort of level of defense we can do so, but naturally it will be costly.

(OOC: i'd like to know how many and what size of sattelites I can fit if anyone can tell me)
