OOC:This should be interesting to see how it competes with the latest King Abrams (M1A6, never sold you that one).

It'd be easier just to ditch the Abrams and make a whole new tank... you cant easily fit a 140mm gun to an Abrams and it's not possible to fit even a 135mm (maybe 120mm) ETC at all.

Its not so much an Abrams as it is a uber Abrams. Its larger than a normal abrams for one. Also the specs I have are subject to change.

Doom, I just have a habit of releasing things in small chunks. It gives me more time to review what I have to come up with the best possible set-up using what I have.

[If you're going to use a 140mm high velocity cannon, might I suggest you use Kitsune's M1A5 pic? It'll go a lot better with the stats than those M1A1s.]

[I don't know that a 140mm ETC is possible even on an enlarged Abrams. A normal high velocity gun is, but nor an ETC methinks.]

I have increased the size by 10 inches in all directions, and the earlier King Abrams that I'm replacing had 120mm ETCs and were only marginally larger than the original Abrams. That explains my gun choice. While earlier tanks were barely larger, I added nearly a foot to mine in all directions to accomidate the gun.

I the earlier King Abrams that I'm replacing had 120mm ETCs and were only marginally larger than the original Abrams.
That's because it wasnt designed properly. ETC guns are substantially bigger than normal guns, and it would be a task to fit a normal 135mm gun into an Abrams or barely-altered Abrams turret.
Shenyang
30-01-2005, 14:20
I was hoping that it was understood I'd changed the lay-out of the turret, but since I haven't said it I'll say it now. The M1A9s turret has been substancially modified, not merely enlarged. And as I have said crew is still subject to change, with one less guy that gives me more room
Praetonia
30-01-2005, 14:27
The Abrams turret already covers the entire width of the vehicle... I dont see how you can really alter it. Perhaps you should just design a whole new vehicle, rather than trying to shoe-horn a massive gun into a hull obviously not designed for it.
Shenyang
30-01-2005, 14:33
Its a simple process, bigger tank, bigger turret, bigger gun. I'll compromise down to a 130mm ETC, possibly a little lower (125mm) but not until I see a truely genuine reason, not centering round the design of my enlarged turret, which has been changed internally. It maintains the Abrams turret design externally, for the most part.
Shenyang

To make it easier to grasp that the tank is now a lot bigger, here is a size comparison:
M1A9 Emperor Abrams:
Width(overall): 154 in.
Height(overall): 123.6 in.
Height(top of body): 78 in.
Height(top of turret): 103.5 in.
Length(body only): 322 in.
Length(overall): 397 in.
M1A1 Abrams:
Width(overall): 144 in.
Height(overall): 113.6 in.
Height(top of body): 68 in.
Height(top of turret): 93.5 in.
Length(body only): 312 in.
Length(overall): 387 in.
In short in can be summed up like this:
Abrams < Emperor Abrams
