OOC: This is related to my turn to Hard line Pre-1966 Catholicism, just I felt it deserved a thread of its own simply because these laws may cause serious controversy in the International Community, thus I don’t want to clog the old thread with them.

This morning the Legal Council, which advisors the Emperor on matters of Law and its application this morning issued a series of punishment and offence amendments to the laws already in application throughout the Guilds. These were signed by the Emperor slightly before noon today and have been broadcast over Christ’s Own Catholic Television and Telelink Network, as well as over all Christ’s Radio Stations. These laws also apply to non-aligned foreign nationals within the Guilds, Allies will be given leeway in this regard due to their preferred status within the Guilds.
Amendment to Guild Criminal Law #8129
New Offences:
1. The Practice of Witchcraft/Worship of the Devil/Satan, Blaspheming and the Aiding and abetting of persons practising such practices. This will be punishable by ‘appropriate information extraction’ techniques as used by the Holy Inquisition to find other would be and actual heretics, they shall if they do not convert and seek forgiveness from God and his Church burnt at the stake to save their souls. If they confess and repent their sins and evil ways then they shall be given imprisonment doing mandatory good works till they are viewed by the Inquisition to have done enough to warrant release. If the offence is slight then the offender shall be fined or whipped until bleeding publicly to demonstrate the consequences of such problematic religious offences. This includes Religion deemed by his Holiness the Pope to be not true to Christ’s true teachings and his Church. Repeat Offences, will be dealt with as cases of lacking true confession and thus the persons involved will be burned at the stake to save their souls.
2. Adultery by husband or wife is to be considered to be an offence, where it can be proved either by ‘appropriate information extraction’ techniques or by witnesses sworn to the Bible and God, the offender must wear a Chastity Belt for no less than 14 days and for a repeat offence they will be branded upon the cheek with an A, for Adulterer to inform all the lambs of God of their moral and sexual weakness in submitting to the Devil’s temptations. For more offences the offender will receive periods in the Pillory, where the lambs of God can pelt the offender with whatever they deem necessary to ensure their return to God’s loving embrace.
3. Sodomy (Homosexual sex/love) practised by either man or woman, will be treated as a direct offence to God’s endless and eternal love for his creations. The person convicted of such offences will be fined, have to spend a period of 3 days in the Pillory and be branded with an S on the cheek. A repeat offence shall be dealt with by a burning at the stake, since the persons involved have obviously shown their weakness in dealing with Satan, this the Holy Inquisition must as becomes of it’s mandates cleanse their souls in fire, so they do not suffer the Devil’s torments.
New Punishments for Certain Offences:
Treason: The traitor is to be Hung, Drawn and Quartered after ‘appropriate information extraction’ techniques have been committed to find out other traitors and uncover any plots.
Thievery/Burglary: 1 Day in the Pillory and a Fine.
Murder: The murder is to be stretched (OOC: The rack) to reveal the full extent of their crimes and then they will be hung until half dead before being put into a cage for the Ravens to eat their flesh and the public to jeer at them.
Rapists: Will have their genitalia severed from them (in both sexes) and shall have it burned before their eyes as punishment for their crimes.
As well as this large scale provision was made to the already completely totalitarian Guild Policing System, where the odds were already packed heavily in favour of the State and those with influence and money, widespread powers were given to the Holy Inquisition to take any whom they suspected off the streets.
