Insurgency in Torres(Open)

We cannot spare any more forces to torres. We are building up in africa, due to an impending crisis in multiple areas. Chellis cannot have any men taken out. Do with what you have. Nobody has ever tried to attack Torres anyways, so there isnt much to worry about.

Colonel Ariete read this printed out email as he manned the coaxial machinegun on his Leclerc tank. He laughed a bit, as the current situation seemed to pop-up just after it had been sent, about a week ago. And yet, when he had just recently called for more men again, he was denied. Did they not see this as a problem?

The town of Ekima stood in the distance. He set down the letter, and took out binoculars, glaring at the large urban city in the distance. He could make out the stadiums and the airport, as well as some other large features. What he could not visualize was the fighting going on in the city. The Free Communist Army, a group of lower-class idealists whom had escaped the ever-watchful eye of the police, had promised to avenge the deaths of their comrades, of which over eight million were killed in the last 200 years of the second chellian government.

Funded by anonymous trusts and thefts, they armed and trained in the deserts of Torres. Torres, the "lost continent" as the founders called it, was an australian-sized landmass that lay 13,000 miles south of chellis. It was often ignored by officials, as they were mostly self-sufficient, just being under chellian rule. However, this ignorance helped breed insurgents, who enjoyed liberal chellian gun laws without harsh police watch.

Millions of lives a year were saved with civilian guns in chellis. This would be the first time that quite possibly millions would die at the hands of civilian firearms. Anyone who didn't wear an FCA badge was fair game to be shot by the communists. Chellis, who usually employed total warfare methods, could not damage so many of its own innocents.

The cities reserve vaults had been broken into. These were vaults that kept equipment for the chellian reserve forces, which scaled from RPG's to MBT's. Chellian reserve forces kept their guns at home, with the exception of anything as strong as, or stronger than an RPG. The FCA had made organized attacks on these vaults, and began to steal the equipment.

The chellian 301st armoured division arrived within 800 meters of the cities outer limits. 300 Leclerc tanks, supported by IFV's, artillery, and helicopters awaited a strike on the city. Chellis dropped leaflets into the city, telling anyone not in the insurgency to stay in their homes. Anyone on the streets with a gun would be killed. Anyone firing upon the chellians would be killed. Any police still alive were to put on army uniforms and assist in taking out enemy positions and weapons caches.

As sad as this was, Ariete was confident. They would drive into the city, their show of force would scare the insurgents into running away in fear. Some chellians would die, but the presence would stop the insurgency. He smiled, and turned his head to look at chellian Tiger helicopters and Mi-26's heading into the city. He looked back, and saw the Milan rocket headed right for his tank.

OOC: Im looking for someone who might want to play as the insurgents. Im also open to an invading force to help liberate the Torrens, though keep in mind that its a fairly isolated landmass, making an invasion hard to mount.

OOC: I will RP as the insurgents. Would it be possible for the RALM proper to back them later on with agents and arms?

IC:

Captain Nomura of the Free Communist Army smiled at the men who fired the MILAN rocket. It was the first shot in the War for Liberation, the one that would free the Torresian people from the tyranny of Chellis.

The FCA held the city of Ekima under their command, requisitioning every car, fortifying every building. They dug in for an exteneded fight, the raids on government armories and civilian stores had netted them an impressive amount of firepower.

They would need this firepower. Nomura was alerted to the sight of
Tiger and Mi-26 helicopters in the skies. He gave a general order: "All units enemy air units are coming in, mobilize! Arise!"

FCA insurgents in the city arose on the command, the city came to life. Anti-Air Machine guns soon appeared on the rooftops, and men with RPG-7V's, SA-7's and Stingers began to fire on the incoming air units.

OOC: Its fine if you fund them, etc. Makes it more interesting.

IC: An AMX-10RC opened machinegun fire on the spotted location of the firing, to little avail. The Leclerc was disabled, though the colonel lived. Further enemy firings occured, and the Leclercs threw up a smoke screen with their Galix systems.

The helicopters knew this was going to be tough. The Tiger's began firing rockets at anything they saw that could possibly be a threat, while the two Mi-26's, headed higher, not lower. Special operations troops were making a low-altitude jump into the city, carrying mostly Famas G2's, though some carried P14a3 Charlies, and a few had alpha's and beta's. Neither Mi-26 was damaged before the jump, though anti-aircraft guns took one down, sending it into an apartment building. Two platoons of special operations troops jumped into the city, equaling 241 troops total.

The 301st inched closer to the city, while the 975th mechanized infantry came to support, but were a few hours away still. A satelite began taking information over the city, attempting to find sites for artillery. The chellians had nothing smaller than 155mm artillery though, as the mechanized infantry were the ones who carried mortars. They couldnt risk the collateral damage.

The Tigers' rocket attacks and the coming of the SpecOps troops did some damage to the FCA infantry, and they took 26 dead.

All over the city, the FCA troops dug in, and began firing MILAN and RPG-7V's at the incoming LeClerc MBT's, and throwing Molotov's at them. The scene resembled that of Mogadishu or Hue 1968, the streets and buildings were filled with fortified bands of FCA infantry who popped in and out of buildings to hit the tanks with rockets.

As for the coming of SpecOps, the same roving and fortified bands of FCA infantry began sniping at them Chellisian SpecOps troops, taunting them with M41 Sniper Rifle fire, M79 white phosphourous grenade shots, RPG fire, and sporadic machine gun fire from AAT-12 MG's and FAMAS G2 Assault Rifles.

Meanwhile......

SECRET IC:

1200 ZULU, Somewhere in Chellian Torres

The Alouette Helicopter marked "KSC Shipping" flew low over the desert landscape. The desolate area was hot, arid and remote....a perfect location to establish another training site. The Shin-Nihon Colony was nice, but inevitably it would be stomped on.....they had to keep their options open.

The Alouette was out here in the desolate Torrean landscape, attempting to locate agents of the Free Communist Army. Why was a movement that called for liberty but was nominally Fascist movement was backing Reds?

Well, it was complicated. The Shogun thought that as long as the FCA, if it won the war, made a pliable and controllable Torrean Socialist Regime (preferably a Stalinist one), they would have a good place to hide. They would also be able to count on an entire continent to settle and control, using puppet leaders. The main mission for now was to back them, but if things got too complicated, they were ordered to change the cast and crew, and remake the operation in their image, to ensure the cards were played in their favor.

The helicopter found the site, marked by an arrangment of flares that resembled the Japanese character for life.

They soon landed, and stepped outside. The RALM Emissary, Harold Da Silva, stepped out of the helicopter and met the FCA representative.

He said to him simply, "Good day, Mr. Focker. You must represent the FCA. I represent the RALM, showing solidarity to those oppressed. We have much to discuss."

OOC: You can respond if you want......I just wanted to lay the basis for future aid.

OOC: I'd love to join this thread as a neutral force that will investigate and take a side (whichever is better for the rp) if that's okay...
