Station 0917, Toxic System, Collapsian space, Day 0, 0832 hours Collapsian Standard Time
A Collapsian Soldier stood at his post. It wasn't much of an interesting post. He and another soldier had to simply stand there, in a quarter earth gravity, watch people come and go, and catch criminals.

Sure, there were criminals, and he had to apprehend them so that they could be tried, found guilty, and then put to use to do more good for the Collapsian economy than harm.

The soldier's name was unimportant, as was his partner's. They were simply the seventeenth and eighteenth men in their squad. Soon, their names would be far less than unimportant.

He felt a slight tingling on his back, but then nothing, first nothing on his back, then his legs, then anywhere, and would never feel anything anywhere again. The anesthetic coating the dagger worked fast. His squadmate leveled his Saberfist rifle at the killer, but a muffled cough came from the shadows, and a bullet followed it into the other soldier.

Similar scenes played out across the station. The entire Collapsian military presence either defected, or was butchered. The revolution had begun.

Imperia, Entropy System, Collapsian space, Day 0, 1930 hours Collapsian Standard Time (local dusk)
"Admirals, Generals, Executives. I know it is inconvenient for you to have the Grand Council called on such short notice, and I know of what this has cost you. However, I feel it was necessary, and I am sure that you will feel the same." The Glorious High General was feeble, but his words carried weight. The council chamber had an incredibly expensive, fancy table capable of fitting more than the thirty members of the Council comfortably. Every man seated had two figures standing behind him, wearing the all-black full body suits of the Collapsian Honor Guard. The Glorious High General had two more, but he needed them not; every honor guard in the room had unswerving loyalty to him, and only obeyed their charges because that is what their High General had ordered them to do.

The Glorious High General, sitting in a chair no finer than that of anyone else at the table, continued to speak. "Earlier today, eight asteroid bases in the Toxic System fell. They did not fall to outside force. They fell to inside corruption. General of the Army, you have the floor."

The General of the Army sat as he spoke, following the lead of the feeble old orator to whom he owed his allegiance "Fellow members of the Grand Council. The eight stations fell due to a revolt aboard them. My men, soldiers in the Collapsian Army, defected to the side of these traitors, throwing open the station armories to them, and those who chose the right path were murdered. It was not a mere random act of violence, or an individual treason, but an orchestrated, coordinated rebellion!" He calmed, turned to the Glorious High General, and said something that had no precise English equivalent, but was usually translated as "my lord."

The Glorious High General turned to the Admiral of the Navy, who had something to contribute. "Admiral, you may speak now." "Fellow members of the Grand Council. The Collapsian Stellar Navy is the mightiest force in this sector. However, the rebellion has thrown us into some difficulties. Each of these asteroid bases had, and still has, a strong arsenal of anti-ship nuclear weapons. Furthermore, although most of the asteroids captured were food asteroids, owned by Astrofarm Incorporated, they did capture three factory asteroids, one owned by Spacefarer's Technologies, one by the Collapsian Arms Conglomerate, and one jointly owned by the Collapsian Arms Conglomerate and Amalgamated Collapsian Automotive. Compounding this difficulty is the fact that their eight asteroids are all close at this point in their orbit. While they are close, they will be able to continually provide eachother with food supplies and weapons, and a seige will be impossible." He gave the same formality.

The Glorious High General scanned the table. "The Chief Executive Officer of the Collapsian Arms Conglomerate may speak."

"Fellow members of the Grand Council. The Collapsian Arms Conglomerate was second-hardest hit by these criminals, and I was told as soon as it became possible. However, the net costs to the Collapsian Arms Conglomerate were minimal. These asteroids are replaceable, they are merely eight lumps of rock. The only danger in them is that this revolt will spread. A clear message must be sent to these traitors. I give the full authorization of the Collapsian Arms Conglomerate to destroy our lostory. I am sure that the other corporations will authorize similar measures to ensure this does not happen again." He gave the same "my lord" formality the officers had.

"The Chief Executive Officer of Astrofarm Incorporated may speak." "Fellow members of the Grand Council. Astrofarm Incorporated lost five sites to these traitors, and measures have already been instituted to ensure that they feel no losses from it. The price of food will be raised, although not so high that the peasants starve and we must compete for wages. Astrofarm will buy more hollow rocks from miners to replace those lost, and everything will go on. Full authorization to destroy those farms is granted. My lord."

The CEOs of Spacefarer's Technologies and Amalgamated Collapsian Automotive were called, and agreed to write off their lost asteroids. The Admiral of the Navy was called again afterwards.

"Fellow members of the Grand Council. We have agreed that these rocks may be destroyed, if necessary, and that an example must be made of these traitors. I yield the floor to any who dissent." He paused, waited, heard nothing, then continued. "However, we must settle the manner of their destruction. These asteroids will be close to eachother for almost the next two months. During that time, they will be transferring resources to stockpile against a siege. They only way to attack them then would be either quick, decisive blows, which we do not have the capacity for at this time, or to besiege them individually. Individual sieges will be difficult, nigh-impossible, and they have the arms to break them as needed. My lord."

"The Admiral of the Marines may speak."

"Fellow members of the Grand Council. We will have to catch them starving. I reccomend we wait until they have just passed the furthest points on their orbits from eachother, and use my Marines to prevent insurrection on any asteroid they pass by. In this way, we will crush them one by one, as Kepler's Laws separate them. My lord."

"The Chief Executive Officer of Spacefarer's Technologies may speak."

"Fellow members of the Grand Council. While listening to the esteemed Admirals speak, a plan, of sorts, struck me. We can call for mercenary help from outside the nation. Make whatever offers we need: trade deals, payment, whatever. We can call on the favor President Uziel of Green Sun owes us from what our corvettes did to help put him back in power, do whatever we need to get this uprising crushed. My lord."

The Glorious High General called on a number of people after this, to present their piece in the debate. In the end, it was decided that foreign ships would be allowed in Collapsian space, and to use Collapsian asteroid ports, but not to land on any planets, or on Toxic's seat of system government.

"My lord." "I have one final request to give, for the convenience of the Grand Council. Will all members of the Grand Council stay, for the duration of the crisis, at their homes on Imperia?" None dissented. "In that case, unless anyone has more business for the council, it is dismissed."

The council was dismissed, and everyone filed to their luxury jets and flew to their Imperia homes. Many lived primarily on Imperia, but there were some with homes on the other four habitable worlds of Collapsian space, although all at least owned a modest vacation cottage (100+ rooms) on Imperia, as on every other habitable planet in Collapsian space. They were, after all, the richest people in Collapsia, possibly in the entire galaxy.

House Minister stood near the window, watching as the Imperial House of Reylos had its annual airshow. The Houses were stabilizing their uneasy peace over the last thousands of years, and each House seemed to be mending well into the pot of the Monocanjh Imperial Dynasty. Dissent was at an all time low as planetary travel between the houses continued to grow, the Monocanjh Empire is at its peak, and the houses knew it... The Minister's silence was rudely abrupted.

"Minister Adama, the Imperial Consortium is calling an optional emergency meeting on Monos Prime. Should I book you a flight?"

"What is this meeting pertaining to Ferlos?"

"It has come by interstellar message that the Collapsian Empire has fallen prey to a rebellion. The Consortium believes its closest neighbor cannot be permitted to fall prey to anarchy. The Consortium is planning to strike a deal with the Collapsian government, but the Consortium Head believes a vote within the Consortium will be in order before the deal is sent to Collapsia."

"Damn Collapsians cannot even keep their people in order. Book my flight, this should be interesting.."

"Yes sir, the Island Jumper will be ready to transport you in about 10 monomins, I will have the men prepare you for departure."

"Very well. Thank you Ferlos."

"Oh there you are Adama!"

Minister Adama stepped off his private Island Hopper. He had arrived in Monos Prime, the capital of the Monocanjh Empire. The vast cities limits expand far in each direction, over 180 Million people living in the city, the city where the sun sets, for about 30 minutes. Its no wonder the house of Monos were able to establish dominance over the other houses, their island was the biggest of them all, spanning over almost half of the planet, and this city took up a big portion of that island.

"Minister Feruk, what a pleasant surprise."

"What are you talking about Adama, no one would miss a chance to downplay the Collapsian Empire, Hah! Especially not the House of Harkein."

"Well then, we should proceed to the Perennium."

Both of them boarded the sliptrain, traveling at almost the speed of light, the sliptrain was the latest technology for the public transportation system for quite a while, and the island of Monos Prime was still the only island that contained sliptrains.

Within mere seconds, the ministers arrived at the Perennium, the government capital of Monos Prime, where they housed the Consortium. The Perennium had a unique feature, it was capable of flying. The Perennium would be used for diplomatic missions from time to time with other nations, the Perennium was capable of interstellar travel. The Inertia Dampeners kicked in as the train slowed to a stop. Perennium was a grand building, about the size of 4 Carriers. The Ministers made their way to the Consortium and took their seats, the meeting was about to begin...

Empire Kadak was welcomed in with the Imperial Court, his 12 Sons and 5 Daughters, looking ever so stunning. Wearing the finest jewelry and clothing, the Monocanjh Empire was not quick on letting go of old traditions. Kadak began his speech.

"Some time ago, it came to our attention the Empire of Collapsia was struck by a rebel insurgency. Because of the miniscule distance between our system and theirs, The House of Monos feels that if the Empire of Collapsia were to fall into the wrong hands, it would endanger our people, which is why the House of Monos puts forth a deal onto the Consortium table. The House of Monos is ready to sell the Collapsian Government an Anti-Matter Cannon."

Massive uproar began in the consortium. Men standing and shouting at the House of Monos designated part of the Consortium. The House of Monos representatives sitting and staring in awe of what they thought would be an easy deal.

"ORDER WILL BE UPHELD!" the emporer shouted.

The Consortium fell silent.

"All Houses Heads will have 10 Monomins to discuss this with their house representatives and decide on their position. Adjourned for 10 Monomins."

"CanIUzielCanIUzielCanIUzielCanIUziel???" GWB asked President Uziel eagerly.
"NO, you CANNOT go to Collapsia. I'm going to send an ambassedor for this. They helped us with a rebellion, we're doing the same for them."
"Aww...I wanted to help kick some kiester..."
"Just...Go play with your GI Joes or something."
"Yeah, that's right! I was just about to reenact the Election between Al Gore and myself! Go Team Bush!" The apelike president ran off upstairs to play with his political action figures.
"Why did I agree to let him stay? Well, if he doesnt get a good job in two days, he's out the door," President Uziel said to himself. His gaurd chuckled.
"What are you laughing at? You let him in!"
The gaurd stopped laughing.
-----------------------------------------
Upstairs, GWB had his own action figure standing on a platform a little higher than his Al Gore figure. Next to the democratic candidate stood a naked barbie doll.

"Now I believe my opponent's platform is-" GWB started, "Rumple!"
George's three-inch tall imaginary friend appeared before him.

"Heya, W!"

"Well, hi, there, Rumple! I haven't seen you in ages! What's the matter?"

"You wanted to go to Collapsia, right?" the green creature asked.

"Ummm..."

"Yes you did."

"I don't remember..."

"YOU WANT TO GO TO COLLAPSIA!"

"Okay..."

"Now, why aren't you?"

"Uzi won't let me."

"Well, then just go. You're a citizen of Green Sun right now, not a political leader anymore. Collapsia is an ally, so you can go if you want to."

"Hey, you're right! Come on, Rumple! Let's book a flight to Green Sun!"

"Why?"

"Because I have a plan!"

The Glorious High General turned to the advisor, an admiral serving as a bureaucrat just under the Admiral of the Navy.

"You had something to say?"

"Yes, my lord. I've recieved reports that Monocanjh and Green Sun are likely to contribute at least moral support to the fight against the traitorous scum. Additionally, a rogue corvette squadron, operating out of Station 0917, has seized an ore freighter. It appears that Station 0917 is their current command center."

"Do you have any more to report?"

"No, sir."

"Dismissed."

The Glorious High General went back to his plans. This new information would give Collapsia an advantage in their fight. 0917 would be the first to go.

Every Synapse Sliver and every Mnemonic sliver was gathered around the Queens Chambers, a special Extra Dimensional plane connecting Mirroden and Riptide. A hive Mind was formed and they were discussing the news from Collapsian space.

"We should cause the Æther to seal our borders to prevent troubles within our own borders." Shouted one sliver.
"We should crush them all when the confusion is at its greatest." Shouted another.
"Silence" The old queen thundered. All though she was finally showing signs of age, she was still unquestioned. It was nearing the time that the queen should be laying the princess to continue the line.
"Niether of those options are acceptable, we would be just as bad as the BORG if we did such things. We will offer our help once more to the outside world. Send a message offering our help, if it's accepted, send the Akroma." The Old sliver Queen ordered.
A collective gasp was heard, out of all four battleships The Eternal Dominion of Warhaven owned, the Akroma was the most powerful.

Transmission from Mirroden:
We The Slivers of The Eternal Dominion of Warhaven wish you a pleasant Suns rise. We have learned of your troubles and by Order of The Old Queen, we wish to offer you our help. The Response coordinates are buried beneath the Transmission. Please respond quickly as this message shall deteariorate to nothingness five days after reception.

"We have come to assist the Collapsian government, rebellion cannot be tolerated!"

OOC: Remember, asteroids get rather large, and "asteroid fields" are quite thin. The rebel asteroids are the size of cities, and built inside depleted mines. This doesn't mean there aren't tiny bits of debris from asteroids that were destroyed to mine them.

Imperia, Entropy System, Collapsian space, Day 1, 1352 hours Collapsian Standard Time

The Glorious High General added his signature to the orders he had written. An emissary Jumpship would be dispatched to Warhaven and to the ONI ships in the Toxic system. Each one would carry a message accepting the help offered, just as soon as they recieved his orders. The orders complete, they were faxed off to be completed.

Toxic System, Collapsian space, Day 1, 1412 hours Collapsian Standard Time

The emissary ship jumped into the system, and transmitted its message to the Concordiat destroyers.

"ARC Entropy to ONI Concordiat battle-group. The Grand Council of Collapsia thanks you for your aid. We would advise you to keep a lower profile, as the rebels have a sizeable fleet, and a significant supply of nuclear armaments. We are opening a tightbeam channel now, to transmit information."

The Collapsian ship transmitted the orbital data of the eight lost stations, along with other, nearby asteroids, along with statistics on mining, population, armaments, equipment, everything.

"Station 0917 is the enemy's main base. The bases are so heavily armed, and defended by their corvette fleets, that a direct attack would be suicide, even with the Battlescreens. We're moving most of our in-system corvette fleet to nearby bases, but that will take several days. If you wait, we'll be able to overwhelm them with a massed attack." The Jumpship Entropy remained in system for further transmissions.

A ship dropped out of Transwarp. This ship was unusuall from any other ship in the fact that it looked like a giant-winged-snake, with a pair of blade-like talons on the end of to arm like sections. The ship was also unusual because it actually slithered like a snake, and flapped its wings, apparently as a form of propulsion. The word Akroma glowed on the side.

"We are the Slivers of The Eternal Dominion of Warhaven, how may we assist you?" A voice hissed in fluent English.

OOC: Yes, these really are the Slivers from Magic: The Gathering.
Collapsia
26-01-2005, 07:31
OOC: I'm assuming the Sliver ship is in the Toxic system.

The ARC Entropy responded to the Akroma, in English, as are all international communications in Collapsia.
"We're massing an attack right now, moving every corvette the Navy can spare into the system, and setting them up at nearby bases. The enemy bases are all but unassailable due to their heavy armaments."

The same tactical data was sent to the Sliver ship as to the Concordiat group.

Station 1296, Toxic System, Collapsian space, Day 1, 1600 hours Collapsian Standard Time

Another two corvettes docked at the station. Freighters and corvettes were coming and going almost hourly now, and this city asteroid, designed for habitation by belt miners, was being driven toward war. Its food stockpiles would be depleting due to the massive numbers of corvette pilots and Marines aboard, if freighterloads of food were not landing daily. War was in the plant-filtered air, and in the distilled water, even on the rocky-metallic floors. The station janitors mopped the tension of war off the floor with an equally tense mop.

To be sure, no blood had yet been spilled aboard the station, and the Marines had replaced most of the regular guard, and the numbers had been boosted.

A security alert sounded in the Control Room. The Sector 9 armory was the site of the problem. Twenty men, armed with the CP-14 pistols that the Collapsian Arms Conglomerate made available cheaply, were rushing the four marines guarding the armory door. The narrow hallway gave the marines and advantage, as they unslung their Saberfist-35 rifles, and let loose a volley of 13mm rounds. Despite firing their bullets three at a time, the marines made every round count. No traitor got more than a single bullet off. One of the marines took a hit, but survived. The twenty traitors lay, many dead, most wounded, on the floor, in a puddle of their own mixed blood.

Control dispatched a medic and a replacement for the marine to the Sector 9 armory. The alarm sounded again, regarding sector three. The armory there came under attack by rebels, disguised as civilians. They drew a pair of knives each on getting close to the marines, who noticed this. A fistfight ensued, as the marines couldn't bring their Saberfists to bear in these quarters. A gunshot echoed throughout sector 3, as another assassin, wielding a CP-14 pistol, took a carefully-aimed shot at one of the marines, wounding him in the chest.

The armory was thrown open soon after. Control ordered bulkheads sealed, and those were blocked. Sector 3 could not be de-pressurized. The marines had to be sent in. The bulkheads were opened. Control broadcast "Station 1296, requesting assistance. Rebels have taken over one of our twelve sectors. We require reinforcements."

Station 1447, Toxic System, Collapsian space, Day 1, 1612 hours Collapsian Standard Time

On the other side of the system, on a station not in danger of being influenced into joining the rebels, theoretically, and of little tactical value, a similar scene unfolded. However, because its guard was only two-thirds as strong in manpower, and was stocked by draftees under Collapsia's compulsory year of military service, rather than killing machines trained from birth, its guard fell easily.

Indeed, at the first armory station to fall under attack, the battle began when one of the four guards took a gunshot from a pistol. One of the other three, seeing his cue, slammed the butt of his gun into another of the guards, as rebels rushed and mobbed the last. They hadn't a chance. Half of the armory stations fell before the first had been distributed to the rebel organizers' satisfaction, and another two fell to rebels similar to the first wave, with only the last four taking heavily-armed rebels. An alarm went up, but, due to a rebel in the control room, a transmission of the stations' loss was not sent out.

Trials were held by the rebels for the non-defecting soldiers and command crew of the station. They were all summarily sentanced to death and thrown out the airlocks into the void of space.

Outside Station 1447, Toxic System, Collapsian space, Day 1, 1842 hours Collapsian Standard Time

"Collapsian Navy defense corvette, sector ID 227, requesting permission to dock at Station 1447." The corvette pilot repeated his message for the third time.

"You're oppressive regime is at an end. The 'Armed Republic' is over, and never was a true republic. The People's Republic of Collapsia shall depose the Armed Republic, and institute justice in its place." The transmission was punctuated by the firing of an anti-corvette missile.

The pilot fired his laser drive at full power, giving half a gravity of acceleration, for an immediate dodge. His ship's heat sensors tracked the missile by its exhaust flame. It would only be a matter of time before it locked back on to the corvette. He fired his fusion drive for a brief burst of acceleration, rising from one gravity up to five, then dropping again. The missile saw this immediatly and locked on. He cut his engine, and used his laser drive to tumble out of the way.

The missile ran out of fuel and auto-detonated. The pilot didn't see it, his focus was on his screens, and the ship's body was in the way. He accelerated out of missile range of the station at two gravities, then broadcast a message. "Station 1447 has fallen to communist rebels. Repeat, communist scum have taken Station 1447."

"Houses, you will now give your statements. The house of Monos will state its current stance. House Leader Deakon, begin."

"Houses of the Consortium and the glorious Monocanjh Empire. It is imperative that we keep strong relations with neighboring civilizations. If Collapsia is to fall to rebel forces, there is no telling what type of hostile action this new government will take agaisnt us. That is why the House of Monos agreed to build ONE anti-matter cannon, which would be serviced by loyal Monocanjh civillians. We will not let this technology fall into the wrong hands, but we must help Collapsia any way we can, and right now the Imperial Fleet is on route to Green Sun, meaning we have no ships to deploy other then the defense fleet, which we see; as an unwise choice at the moment. Please, support our effort."

"Thank you Deakon, now House of Harkein; Feruk give Harkein's stance."

"The House of Harkein strongly denounces the effort to allow civilizations such as Collapsia with such advanced technology as our anti-matter cannon. Anti-matter is expensive, and costly, not to mention we are the only nation in the galaxy to exercise its use as a weapon, we musn't allow less advanced civilizations such as Collapsia to have this kind of technology, what would happen if they stormed the cannon's facilities. We would have a hard feat to try and take it back from them, even with the current house fleet status."

"Thank you Feruk, now House of Yorgduf; Renor give Yorgduf's stance."

"The House of Yorgduf agrees with Harkein, we cannot allow civilizations to use our technology agaisnt us. Seeing as the house of Yorgduf is the main collection house of anti-matter, we see it as a perilous mission to allow Collapsia an anti-matter cannon. On the other hand, if they were to pay for this anti-matter cannon in ghastly figures, the house of Yorgduf might change its stance."

"Thank you Renor, now House of Minor Teras; Georf give Teras's stance."

"The House of Teras concurs with the House of Monos. We believe that we must keep current friendly relations with the Collapsian Empire, and we must build this anti-matter cannon to protect them from rebel incursions."

"Thank you Georf, now House of Minor Yu; Weit give Yu's stance."

"The House of Yu will denounce any action to help the Collapsian Empire. They are a weak and feeble civilization, as an example, look at their name! Collapsian, and that is what they will do, Collapse."

"Thank you Weit, now House of Minor Dognon; Drako give Dognon's stance."

"The House of Dognon is indifferent about the situation involving the Collapsian Empire. It is up to the remaining houses to decide wether or not to help the Collapsians. Dognon will abstain from voting on this matter."

"Thank you Drako, now House of Minor Alpet; Casey give Alpet's stance."

"The House of Alpet will not support the action to send any men into a foreign empire such as Collapsia. We musn't allow our glorious united empire to be hampered down by these feeble minded weak nations. We are finally rebounding from the Great Divide, which happened 3000 years ago, and we will build on this. Empires such as Collapsia will only get in our way in the future. Let them fall..."

"Thank you Alpet, now House of Reylos; Xenon give Reylos stance."

"The House of Reylos will not support building an anti-matter cannon in Collapsian space; but the House of Reylos believes keeping good relations with a close neighboring Empire will be useful when our time to expand has come. Which is why the House of Reylos will use its House Fleet of Reylos in action agaisnt the Collapsian Rebels, which the Consortium's consent of course. We move to add another option to the vote."

"Thank you Xenon. The Houses Heads may now vote."
-------------------------------------------------------------
House of Monos:Voted to Build Anti-Matter Cannon
House of Reylos:Voted to Send House of Reylos Fleet
House of Yorgduf:Voted to Send House of Reylos Fleet
House of Harkein:Voted to Send House of Reylos Fleet
House of Alpet:Voted to Not Help Collapsia
House of Dognon:Voted to Abstain
House of Yu:Voted to Not Help Collapsia
House of Teras:Voted to Build Anti-Matter Cannon
-------------------------------------------------------------
Emporer Kadak returned from his chamber and took his seat.

"The Houses have voted, and the House of Reylos Fleet will depart immediately to Collapsian space. House of Reylos, prepare your fleet for war and send a message to the Collapsians telling them about your plans."

With that note, the Emporer left to his palace with the Royal Family following him.

Reylos Prime, House of Reylos

Open communication with the Collapsian Homeworld.

"Greetings neighbors. We have recently heard of your dealings with rebels in your Empire and we have discussed it with the Consortium. The House of Reylos will be sending the House of Reylos Fleet to Collapsian Space to assist with your problems. Now you might not be that familiar with Monocanjh ways. There are 8 Houses within the Monocanjh Empire, each having an equal say in the Consortium, though some are more influencial then others. There are 4 Major Houses and 4 Minor Houses. The Major Houses are the Monos, Reylos, Yorgduf, and Harkein. The Minor Houses are the Alpet, Dognon, Yu, and Teras. Each House is allowed to command its own fleet, with no more then 20 ships, not counting fighters. The only exception is the House of Monos, who currently rule over the Empire. Their fleet can consist of as many as 100 ships, though currently only 50. Each House is able to freely control its fleet, unless a war erupt and the house fleets are called together to work as an Imperial Fleet. Though currently you have only dealt with Mono's Ships, you will soon see the difference between Mono's Ships and Reylos Ships. The fleet will be departing any moment now and, because of the relative proximity of your Empire, our fleet should be there shortly."

The Glorious High General had yet another order to sign for the diplomats. This rebellion was turning more into an excersize in diplomacy for him. He signed it, and a message thanking Monocanjh was sent.

He gave an order to summon the grand council tomorrow, regarding the recent losses.

((OOC: And many of those emmigrants are from China and Russia, many of those who are still alive after sixty years. Hell, Earnest Equanant's over 100 now, he's still kickin' it. Then again, he's a cyborg...))

In order to pay back for Collapsia helping bringing back the President to his full power, Green Sun has dispatched one battleship, cruiser, and carrier, each filled with one-thousand five-hundred Marines. The reason their numbers are so few is because they have to spare ships for the Black Crusade.

Ship stats:
Battleship (Medium size):
Druid
2 High-Powered Laser Cannons
1 regular MAC cannon
50 Plasma Torpedo pods
250 HE AP Rockets
Plasma shields

Carrier (Medium):
Nature's Call
480 Fighters
30 Plasma Torpedos
150 Plasma Turrets

Cruiser (Only 1 size cruiser):
Mantis
40 Plasma Torpedos
1 MAC Gun (Small)
1 Laser Cannon (Average)
50 Fighters
Labs (Labs experiment with stuff. We may come up with something new, which was what happened in the first fight against United Cultures, their labs made the Laser Cannons)

Captain Marcus Flint of the Druid gazed apon the Collapsian space. Green Sun didn't care about foreign politics. They cared about action, not debates. If they needed to make a decision, they debated it quickly, which is why the nation had come so far so quickly in just sixty years. OOC: Green Sun, please don't try to make OOC statements about what Collapsia is and isn't. Its from its own alternate psuedo-earth, if you must know.

Toxic System, Collapsian space, Day 2, 0924 hours CST

The ARC Entropy, serving as a relay ship, transmitted the welcoming to the Green Sun ships. "Welcome to Collapsia. We could certainly use your help."

Entropy continued. "Our Corvette Fleet has been severely weakened in the area due to rebel actions. We've lost part of one of our main base asteroids, and are moving our fleet out from it. We have it defended by a blockade, but that is a drain on our fleets. We don't have many bases we can operate out of, and concentrating the fleet is incredibly costly, in resources and security. We will have to reduce the size of our corvette attacks."

Imperia, Entropy System, Collapsian space, Day 2, 1013 hours CST

The Glorious High General, with only two hours until the Grand Council meeting, had hundreds of small tasks to order done. One task, however, was more important than any other. High Command, a segment of the Grand Council consisting of him and his subordinate General and Admirals, was already at the palace. He ordered that the Admiral of the Navy be informed of the Monocanjh fleet.

The Admiral gave the order, and a transmission was sent.

"The rebellion is primarily in the Toxic system. The Toxic System government is on Toxic Secondus Major. The Jumpship ARC Entropy is serving as the command ship for this campaign, however. They have the best intel on enemy forces." The transmission ended with the relative coordinates for the Toxic System, and for the staging area for the campaign.

Imperia, Entropy System, Collapsian space, Day 2, 1200 hours CST

The Grand Council sat in meeting again. This time, though, they were in contact almost live (five-minute roundtrip data packets, carried by JumpShip) with the ships on the front.

The Glorious High General spoke first. "If any seated here wish to rescind their authorization for the destruction of the fully rebel rocks, speak now." The entire council sat in disciplined silence. "Excellent. Now, on to the next order of business: Station 1296. The rebels and the marines currently on the station are in a standoff. The Admiral of the Marines may speak."

"Fellow members of the Grand Council. My plan is this: We land a freighter full of additional marine special forces, the elite of Collapsia's elite. We move in, blast through their barricades, and throw them out the airlocks. My lord."

"The Admiral of the Navy may speak"

"Fellow members of the Grand Council. I can offer an alternative approach. We can evacuate the station, strip it bare, contain the rebels, and leave them to starve, freeze, or suffocate. Contain our losses, and show the penalty for rebellion. My lord."

"The Chief Executive Officer of Amalgamated Collapsian Automotive may speak."

"Fellow members of the Grand Council. Letting the rebels know of the price of rebellion merely creates martyrs for their cause. When they die, their existance must be erased. Their deaths cannot be known. My lord."

"The Chief Executive Officer of the Collapsian Arms Conglomerate may speak."

"Fellow members of the Grand Council. I propose we open this discussion to the fleet commanders at the front. See what their advice on the situation is. We will also be able to see our foreign allies in action. My lord."

"Are any opposed to this motion?" He paused, waited, then continued. "Excellent. Technicians! Send this discussion to the Entropy to be translated into English and sent to fleet command." "Yes, my lord."

"Now that that is taken care of, what will we do about the situation on Station 1447? The Admiral of the Navy may speak, to review the intelligence."

"Fellow members of the Grand Council. Station 1447 fell suddenly, decisively, and without contact until afterward. Not only have they engaged in armed insurrection against Collapsia, but they have declared themselves an independant government. This single declaration, if news of it leaks out, can lead to a wave of insurgency. I have placed orders of silence on all who know, enforced under pain of torture. However, there is a risk that word has leaked to the allied fleets. I reccomend an immediate and decisive corvette assault on 1447. My lord."

"The Chief Executive Officer of Collapsia Nuclear Technologies may speak."

"Fellow members of the Grand Council. Collapsia Nuclear Technologies owned Station 1447 before the traitor attack. Were it any other of our stations, we would see no qualms in destroying it. However, 1447 is important. It is a particle physics lab. We must secure what research data we can from it, before it is destroyed. The data is stored on the main computers, and on backup discs, which are shipped off monthly to caches in the other four systems. We have three weeks of data on station. Additionally, three micrograms of antimatter had been contained on station. Not nearly enough for use, but valuable in our research, and expensive to produce. We must recover our investment. My lord."

There was some noticeable commotion at the table.

"The Admiral of the Marines may speak."

"Fellow members of the Grand Council. It will not be easy for Marines to land themselves on Station 1447. Certainly, it will be possible to hack the airlock, land our freighter, and retake the station, but we will have to break the blockade, and fight for every inch of ground, against an enemy who can seal the bulkheads on us. It will be one of the bloodiest fights we will send our marines into. I reccomend we simply hack the system, retrieve the data, and destroy the station. My lord."

"The Chief Executive Officer of Insurance of Collapsia may speak"

"Fellow members of the Grand Council. Insurance of Collapsia is the provider of Station 1447's insurance. The antimatter aboard the station is insured for the sum of forty billion Collapsian dollars. We will deploy mercenaries to Station 1447 to minimize the cost, if the marines will not. For the economy, send the Marines to 1447. My lord."

The meeting continued on, with discussions of 1447, and back to 1296, waiting for the reply from the allied fleets.

Concordiat Destroyer Group to Collapsian War-Meeting:
We have drill-probes, not armed but armored and with blasting and drilling equipment that can drill through the airlocks and bulkheads. Each probe has an AS, and so they will not be stupid. But they take their orders literally. Sometimes too literally.

In addition, we have ship-to-ship landing parties on station, five parties each with a Dragon tankett and thirty men. They might be helpful, if only on a small scale. The tankett also will be virtually useless unless you can put it in a not-confined space; it is about a meter tall and two meters wide. It is not very armored either, and the only reason it is still in service is the 10-cm infinite-repeater in the turret. The whole vehicle is controlled by an AS as well.

Our ships posess little that could assist you, except in the space battle. They are somewhat slow, but they pack shields and armor, and most importantly, big guns. If you also are willing, our Code suggests that the most cost-efficient way of killing the rebels would be to shatter the station. However, I am sure that is unacceptable, so we will be standing by.

Transmission from ARC Entropy:

"All fleet presences are acknowledged. We have conferred with the Grand Council regarding objective assignments, and will relay their decision."

(OOC: The ARC Entropy was jumping back and forth between the two systems to carry information, as direct links across this distance are difficult)

"Concordiat Destroyer Group, you have been assigned to cross the system to Station 1447, board the station, secure both the data and the antimatter, neutralize the rebels by any means necessary short of destroying the data or antimatter, and bring both to Toxic Secondus Major. Sliver fleet, you have been assigned to Stations 0836 and 1029. Your objectives are the neutralization of the rebel presence aboard the station by any means necessary, up to and including destruction. Green Fleet, you have been assigned to Stations 0874 and 1132, objectives likewise. Reylos Fleet, likewise objectives on Stations 0982 and 1064. We will handle Station 1178."

The transmission continued.

"After your objectives are completed, are ships are to gather for a final assault on 0917. If we had our full corvette forces, we would make our move against 0917 in the first wave, however, terrorist actions against all staging areas have limited our supplies. One third of the corvette forces will attack 1178, with two-thirds held in reserve across this arc, three degrees wide, in case any attacking groups require additional support. For the Concordiat fleet, we can deploy the corvettes at Station 0613, and the marines on Station 0396, if they prove to not have enough power to reach and take 1447 on their own. Good luck."

OOC: Stations 0874 and 1132, gotvha. I hate my dad's screen. Also, I don't know what to expect.
IC: Within minutes of recieving orders, four Dropships were launched from the Cruiser. They searched and searched the asteroids for a safe place to land and did so successfully. Sixteen Green Sun Special Ops were dropped. These were the best Green SUn could offer. They were the first. They forged Green Sun's mark into the modern world in Risban.
They were the Forge Force.

Station 1132:
Squad Leader Red 01 took Engineer Red 01 to the doors that were the airlock entrances and exits. They set up a Space Satchel. It was a handy device mainly given to Space Seals to attatch to the hulls of enemy ships and blow holes in them, allowing their team to pour in. Instead of just exploding, they exploded in a combination of Plasma and chemical reactions toward their target, putting immense pressure on the place they were attatched to. The satchel exploded and the door just drifted off. An alarm went off. They readied their Laser Rifles, knowing in at least two minutes they would have a firefight. But they would be at an advantage. They could breathe.

Station 0874
Squad Leader Blue 01took a more sneaky approach than his counterpart. They decided to take a maitenence tunnel to get in. With their rifles up and warm, they floated down the small tunnel, barely large enough to fit them. The Squad Leader jumped up and then let Engineer Blue 02 go under and take down the door. Hopefully it wouldn't sound the alarm and they could getr in stealthly. As soon as the Engineer was done taking down the door with his laser torch, they were face-to-face with an astonished Rebel ready to take the same route only in the opposite direction.

OOC to Green Sun: Collapsian bases have triple-door personnel airlocks, with a double-door airlock to the outside, then a spacesuit locker room, then a single airtight door, and are designed in sections with sealable bulkheads. The airlock doors themselves aren't alarmed, but all presurization and depressurization of areas is. Gravity is spin, on these bases, so down is away from the primary axis, meaning all airlocks lead up, except those on the hangar bays, which connect to a 0-g area.

List of station purposes (strategic information that everyone has, IC):
Farms: 0836 (Warhaven's target), 0982 (Monocanjh's target), 0917 (Rebel command station), 1029 (Warhaven's target), 1064 (Monocanjh's target)
Factories: 0834 (belongs to Amalgamated Collapsian Automotive and Collapsian Arms Conglomerate, Green Sun's target), 1132 (Collapsian Arms Conglomerate, Green Sun's target), 1178 (Starfarer's Technologies, Collapsia's target).

The Reylos ships were greeted by fifteen corvettes here. The two fleets were still too far apart to fight eachother, but the corvettes still formed a menace over the Reylos fleet.

Outside Station 1178, Toxic System, Collapsian space, exact time unknown

Twenty government corvettes accelerated toward the station. Corvette forces usually weren't this big. However, corvette forces usually weren't trying to assault the factories at which they are made. Ten rebel ships came off to counter them.

Corvette 1 broadcast a target list, assigning every government corvette into a pair, and giving each pair a target. The ships weren't flying in anything resembling a formation originally, so it was a simple matter of scattering further, using dust missiles on areas being flown through, and launching nukes at the enemy corvettes.

The rebel corvettes dodged via laser drives, so that the nukes couldn't track them, and launched their own missiles, some on intercept, some to attack, and some decoy flares. The area brightened immensely with the explosions of dozens of nuclear missiles.

These backwater ships can't certainly touch a battleship. Have the Destroyers sent the targets for all 15 bogies. If any of them get near the armada, have the three destroyers break off and attack. Station 1132:

Behind the door, the station was dark. The air rushing out was less than it should have been, as the station was already being de-pressurized. A voice could be heard from a loudspeaker, before the air rushed out. The airlock opened into a long corridor. The hallway had been plunged into darkness, except for the lights in the locker room and shining on the five meters to either side of the hall. It was wide enough to be more of a street than a mere hall, obviously an important route, as room was at a premium on space stations.

Station 0874:

The locker room airlock cycled to let Forge Force in, although there was still some pressure in the locker room. A loudspeaker in the locker room was announcing something in Collapsian, although none of the Forge Force troops spoke the language (OOC: if you have a linguist in this Forge Force, I'll tell you what it says.)

The street outside the locker room was dark here, as it was in the other station.

Station 0982:

OOC: The ships are big enough and much faster than subsonic speed, assuming you're going by one atmosphere.

One of the corvettes exploded in a brilliant flare as the antimatter shot caught it, then another, then a third. Their fusion drives exploded seconds later, adding additional suns to the system, from the Reylos ships' point of view. Tails of helium plasma erupted from the rest, lighting up their positions, as they took evasive action against the antimatter cannons, accelerating and spiraling. One corvette's attempts at evasive action failed.

The Reylos tactical displays showed four streams of gas hot enough to be chemical rocket exhaust appear near each of the survivors, but not being emmited from them, and advance toward the Reylos ships at twelve gravities acceleration. The graviton sensors did not pick up these 32 new contacts from the eight corvettes that survived the initial volley. The corvettes were staying well away from the Reylos ships, to maximize the travel time of the antimatter shots.

A transmission came from the station. "We have suffered long enough under this despotic regime. We have survived it until now, we will survive you, and we will survive it."

Station 1064:

The corvettes scattered into full stealth. One of them had a railgun mounted as a missile launcher, and fired a single shot into the Reylos fleet, a pair of one-megaton bombs, which broke up in mid-flight. With the corvettes drifting, and the Reylos ships continuing their acceleration, they would fly right onto the bomb.

Station 1178:

The battle between the Collapsian Government corvettes and the Rebel corvettes was still in full strength. The rebel corvettes were proving more than adept at evasion, and more were deployed constantly from the station. The battle had spread itself over a sphere almost a quarter of a light-minute in diameter.

"Everyone (formal address to inferiors) . . . emptiness (or void) . . . suits . . . put on," said the Green Sun soldier, flipping between entries to read each word. "Enemy . . . fight . . . prepare to begin."

This area of the station was remarkably quiet. In the little light that spilled from the locker room, one could see the short, curved strokes that combined to form Collapsian letters. "Home . . . area."

The announcement continued to repeat itself. Announcement speakers had been set up all over the station, apparently. The street was deserted, for such a large corridor. However, a faint engine noise could be heard to port. The troops noticed that even though this was a factory, the roadsides were covered in presumably edible greenery.

Station 1029

The slivers reached a spacesuit locker room, then continued onward into another main street. The sides were just as green here as elsewhere, and the station was in darkness, just as all the others were. Speakers blared out announcements, in a militaristic tone. Their advance had been given away by their acceleration on approach.

The sides were just as green here as elsewhere, and the station was in darkness, just as all the others were. Speakers blared out announcements, in a militaristic tone. Their advance had been given away by their acceleration on approach.

The slivers wondered what they said, not knowing collapsian, the synapse sliver decided to make it a point to rip it from the mind of the first collapsian they met. The Synapse and Mnemonic Slivers worked together and set up a Sliver hive mind. Bunching up together the slivers moved as one, with the Colorless slivers on the outside as cannon fodder. The more powerful ones stayed inside.

0836

The Akrom paused a moment to throw up its sheilds, and charge weaponry, then they continued on and arrived at 0836.

In pure Sliverese, a language no one can learn unless taught by the Queen herself, a voice hissed:
" We come from The Eternal Dominion of Warhaven, We have come to see to it that you return to Collapsia peacefully. we will not fail, you may surrender."
A full minuet later, it was repeated in English, common English.

"This is intersting...Let's go, men. Rifles up and don't let any of us out of sight. If any of us fall, make sure to get his rifle. We don't want these rebels to get our technology. Remember, take out everybody with a gun that you see aside from each other."
"Um, sir? What were our specific objectives?"
"Retake the station. Now, keep your eyes open, alright?"
"Right."

The other station-
They go through an airlock or something.

Station 1029

The main street was completely deserted. The occasional side tunnel lead upward, connecting to another floor's main tunnels.

The slivers moved on out of a living area to one more devoted to agriculture, with side passages leading every which way covered in strange plants growing under lamps, and doors to rooms where yet more plants grew, mostly tended by robots.

As they continued on, they saw what amounted to a hastily-assembled, but still strong, barricade, made of scrap metal plates. A large rectangle in the center of it was painted in a bright red color, with five white stars arranged in a somewhat flattened pentagonal shape on it, just barely able to be made out in the faint light. The lights were coming on automatically for the slivers, making it impossible for them to hide in the darkness.

Ten rebels leapt from behind the barricade, saberfist rifles ready, and they opened fire blindly into the sliver group.

Station 0836

"The people of Collapsia will never be broken." Other than that, the station sat silent for a few moments. Then, its space airlock began cycling as fast as it could to push as many corvettes into space as possible. Twenty gathered to face the Akroma.

Station 0874

The faint engine noise faded, but returned, coming this time from some distance to antispinward (OOC: Directions on these stations: Spinward = direction it is spinning, Antispinward is opposite, Port to left when facing spinward, Starboard right, Up is toward center, down is toward space. The main corridors run spinward-antispinward). It was clearer, too, not muffled by rock. The source of the sound moved rapidly, and eventually came almost into view, despite the limited light.

It had an almost comical shape. It was a low, flat platform, riding on heavy treads, with a soldier likely having to lie down in it. A high-pitched whine came from the two cylindrical structures above it, flattened down and leveled at the approaching troops. The tips of the cylinders lit up, and a blast of sound louder than anything these troops had heard before short of a grenade hit them. They were guns, based similarly to miniguns, but far too high caliber. .50 caliber fragmentation rounds tore at the floor in front of them, with only its thinckness of ten meters protecting the Forge Force from vacuum.

(OOC: These stations are a bit big to be retaken by sixteen-man forces. Each has a population of about 50,000, although the struggles have displaced and killed many. They have a hundred levels (each about five meters high) with gravity, then a cylinder a kilometer in radius in the center, serving primarily as a spaceport, with no gravity. The main street runs in a series of bands around each level, with ramps between them. The bands are not directly inside eachother, but adjusted to port and starboard. The doors off the main street are airtight, but single doors, so cannot serve as airlocks. Bulkheads between sections on the main street and between bands are double doors, and therefore can. The Green Sun command staff knew this IC, as they had access to the station schematics. Keep in mind that the rebels know this much better, as they've lived here for years, lived in space for longer, and carefully planned their rebellion.)

-- This entire post is OOC --

The Saberfist 35 is a 13mm (a standard bullet for the Collapsian Arms Conglomerate, rarely used anywhere else. Slightly more powerful than .50 caliber, and the CAC has a big enough market inside Collapsia to make its own standards) gun. It uses otherwise normal bullets. It fires three-round bursts, at a rate of one burst per second, although that can be overridden. It is the standard-issue weapon for Collapsian line personnel, and can have a grenade launcher and a 5x zoom scope attached.

Saberfist 30s are older, smaller, and cheaper, only firing 7.62mm rounds. They have been all but completely phased out by the military, but you may run into them on the stations, as there are millions in private ownership.

The only energy weapon that anyone might see on these stations is the EXW-1 plasma accelerator. It has a capacitor bank about a third of the gun's size that must be replaced or recharged after every shot to fire it, and the gun is no small piece of equipment, although it is man-portable. It takes seven seconds of holding the trigger to reach maximum compression (about five times the local atmosphere), although it can fire with less. When it fires, it runs an electric current about as strong as a lightning bolt through the air chamber, and opens a valve connecting the chamber to the barrel. The resultant plasma is magnetically accelerated out the barrel. This launches a rapidly expanding (due to heat and magnetic repulsion) sphere of positively-charged plasma out the gun barrel, which heats the air behind it red-hot, and makes it jump away, as well as leaving behind a static charge. When it hits, because it is suddenly continually heating the same few cubic meters of air over several milliseconds, it explodes.

Essentially, it works the way the Lekgolo's gun works in Halo 2, except the tip of the beam is white, the beam itself is red, it leaves a heavy static charge just outside the gun and along the beam's path, and the blast is much bigger (all explosions were scaled down for both Halo games)

Other slug-based guns you might see include "Diffusers," which are .50 caliber gatling guns that usually fire their own special bullets, which fragment in the air and are explosive (these are rarely carried by personnel. The tank that Green Sun's blue team is fighting has two of these), "Allhammers," which are double-barrelled .50 caliber machine guns that must be mounted, either as a defensive position or on a vehicle, and CMG-4s, which are 20mm cannons capable of firing twice per second.

There also may be some instances of a single-shot pistol, the "Bear," using the same rounds as the CMG-4. However, there are two smaller pistols, one 13mm and one 9mm, along with two SMGs, one 9mm and one incredibly rapid fire 4mm SMG. Bears, if seen, will be rare. However, as an anti-armor pistol, they are the deadliest among them.

There are also rocket launchers, pretty standard stuff.

Green Sun: Keep in mind that a single puncture to a space suit, which bullet-based and fragmentation weaponry happen to be extremely good at, will kill the occupant, in a vacuum or hostile atmosphere at least. You don't have to worry about the latter, but Red Team of Forge Force should be extremely worried about the former.

ElectronX: You can send a fleet in and offer your help, but you likely will be kept in reserve either in case any fleet is defeated, or for the attack on 0917. That is, of course, assuming you want to kill the communist rebels.

Station 1029:

Some bullets bounced off the slivers scaled skin, Nervous hisses were heard as the Reactor Sliver almost got hit, others hissed in pain as the bullets actually managed to penatrate the Scales. The Essence sliver set to work getting the bullets out of each sliver, Some colorless joined in. The rest of the colorless launched themselves at the attackers Blade like talons at their sharpest, dripping acid, full of poision, and two diffrent varieties of pnemonia, it was quite handy to have an Acid, Blade, and Toxin Sliver sitting nearby. When the Colorless Slivers reached the soldiers, they swung for the bleachers not caring a wit to save any lives.

The rebels aimed and fired as the slivers advanced, although it was useless. One of them fired off a shot from the grenade launcher attached to his gun, blasting a percussion-fused antitank grenade at the slivers. He aimed too high, and the grenade detonated harmlessly behind them.

The slivers cut through them, slashing through their bright yellow jumpsuits and their flesh. The sliver claws slashed through them and they writhed, screaming, pouring blood onto the station floor, after the slivers finished with them.

The capitol slivers were nervous, this was the first time they would get to use their abilities. 19 of them flew out of the Akroma, Twitching and convulsing, they grew to the size of the Akroma. 19 slivers plus the Akroma to 20 Corvetts would be intresting. A small troupe of reactor Slivers joined the Capitol slivers, protectivly nestled behind their wings. The Akroma and the 19 Capitol Slivers fired at the Corvetts. The Akroma using standered ship weapons, the Capitol slivers using pure raw explosive Æther. The second it touched anything, it would explode voilently.

OOC: I'm going on a vacation for a week and will not be able to post during that time. I'll see if I can revive this RP afterwards.

Station 0836:

The twenty corvettes accelerated toward the slivers, then cut their fusion drives and switched to lasers, adjusting their course violently, and giving no signature to be detected. The Aether failed to hit any corvettes, as they were fighting at long distances, still several light-seconds apart, each shot and each ship scarcely a blip in space. Chemical exhaust trails lit up in the area the ships were flying through, as each corvette had unloaded the four missiles it can hold ready to launch, which flew on courses, sometimes swerving one way, sometimes another, as they approached the Slivers. The corvettes reloaded, and prepared.

(OOC: If the Akroma's attack did not include missiles, ignore everything IC below here.)

The chemical trails from the missile salvo the Akroma launched were picked up by the corvettes. Each pilot went perfectly to procedure: their computers began to track the missiles and prepared to annihilate them in an instant with the laser drives. In the meantime, they would maneuver away from each other and from the missiles' projected courses on laser drives, to avoid being picked up by the missiles' sensors.

Many of the missiles passed through, not detecting the cold, non-reflective lumps in space, too small to cast a shadow that the missiles might fly through. A few broke off their course, and tumbled at corvettes.

The pilots slammed their fingers down on the buttons, and lasers powerful enough to propel a ship via Newton's Third Law projected their beams. A fibre-optic cable, designed to carry these beams from the laser to where-ever on the ship they would need to be projected to guide the ship each was part of had already been attached onto the proper port, and it carried the beam out the ship. The ships were forced away from the missiles, and each beam struck a missile, instantly incinerating it and igniting the warhead.

More missiles adjusted their course and aimed for the flare that suddenly appeared on their scans. The ships merely re-aimed their lasers, and fired additional laser pulses. One by one, the missiles winked out of existance.

(OOC: To a corvette, within one light-second is close range, and close enough to count your distance in kilometers is extremely close. A light second is almost 300 megameters (299,792 kilometers). Corvette pilots usually fight at distances of 1-2 light seconds. The earth is less than 8,000 kilometers in diameter, so using unguided weapons against a corvette in the corvette's preferred combat situation is like trying to hit a mosquito on the horizon with a musket. At these distances you can even dodge lasers, therefore the corvettes are missile ships.)

OOC: Sorry, no missles, yet.

IC: Seeing that the enrgy beams failed, the Slivers activated their secondary sapce sliver ability, warp flight. Not quite going warp but still going faster than one could shake a stick at, the slivers raised their super-sharp Talons, acid Slivers lined the Akroma's sides. Each Capitol sliver began to let acid flow from their talons. Within seconds, matching speed with the corvetts, the slivers brought their talons down hard on the corvetts. The Akroma, built out of BORG technology, and then some, loaded thousands upon billions of Nanites into missles, and shout off a salvo of 60. The missles headed directly for the corvetts, each one getting three, but instead of impacting, the missles stop short and release Nanite Swarms to take down the Corvett, molecule by molecule, converting them into more nanites, which in turn break down the ship molecule by molecule turning them into more nanites ETC. ETC.

OOC: And I promise, I did not do that because of your earlier post. These missles really were designed to do that.

OOC: I'm back!

Station 0836:

As the Slivers reached the corvettes and began to tear at them, the pilots slammed on their fusion drives at full power. Every corvette pilot had natural combat instinct; there was no way to survive as one without it. They'd trained for years to turn this combat instinct into a razor edge, with reflexes for every situation. They didn't even realize they were slamming their fusion drives on until it was done; they hadn't had time to do so.

A cloud of helium plasma burning at several thousand degrees centigrade burst from each ship, and enveloped each attacking Capital Sliver.

Each corvette was eaten through heavily by the Slivers, and would need significant repairs in order to fight again. Many had lost missile tubes, or gyroscopes, or had suffered damage to their fusion exhaust pipes, or fibre-optic ports.

As the missiles swept in, the corvettes used their lasers as well as they could to try to knock them out. As the missiles re-assembled themselves, the pilots turned their ships as well as they could. Eight of the ships were caught by the missiles, turning too slowly. The rest slammed on their fusion drives again, burning through the missiles.

Three ships burned themselves into oblivion from damage to their magnetic containment systems on their fusion drives. The other nine ships managed to survive the missile attack.

A radio signal went out from the base, "All ships, return to base. We'll use our missiles from here."
