[OOC: I developed this on the OMP boards (and got quite a bit of help from Hamptonshire to improve my initial design), so here's the rollout.]

The Incorporated Sarzonian Navy has used AA destroyers from other nations in the past and has used the Portland Iron Works' own Evermore-class destroyers for AA support in some of its actions, but in an effort to reduce reliance upon foreign designs, the Navy has asked the Portland Iron Works to design a AA destroyer for its own use. The ship is expected to be fully modern and have advanced air defence capabilities.

The Johnston-class destroyer
Dimensions: Length: 198 m; Beam: 23.8 m; Draught: 6.9 m
Displacement: 9,970 tons light; 11,090 tons full
Armament: 3 x 4.5 inch Mark VIII electro-thermal chemical guns mounted in single turrets in A, B and Y positions;
2 x 4 cell (12 total missiles) launchers for 'Scorcher' (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=392215) SSM;
2 launchers for 'SarzTorp' light torpedo (similar to EuroTorp);
6 x 'Yellow Jacket' mini-SAM launchers mounted port and starboard;
6 x 35 mm Millennium Gun CIWS systems mounted port and starboard;
4 x 48 cell launchers for GWS.57 (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=7156063&postcount=15) 'Erne' surface to air missile (http://www.eurosam.com/blocks/images/AS30%20V.jpg).
Armour: 115 mm aluminum/nickel/steel/titanium composite with ballistic ceramics; double keel and void spaces to enhance protection against submarine attacks.
Propulsion: Four Grymes and Yancey engines; 185,000 shp
Speed: 28 knots cruise; 36 knots short-range all out sprint (32 knots normal maximum)
Aircraft: Capable of deploying two Merlin-sized helicopters; also comes with anti-missile and anti-torpedo decoys
Price: $1.250 billion
Annual Operating Cost: $50 million

OOC: I was watching the development with interest. I'm planning some massive military overhauls, a spring clean if you will. This is just a TAG for a later order. Good work Sarz.

Thank you for your interest in the Johnston-class destroyer. We will consider granting you production rights to the class pending the evaluation of a background check. Company policy regarding the 'Scorcher' missile prohibits the sale of production rights to all but most favoured and trusted nations, so any sale of production rights of this ship would exclude the rights to that weapons system.

Please feel free to contact me at the Portland Iron Works to make further arrangements for production rights if you are still interested.

I am happy that you agreed to sell the Production rights to the Roman Republic. This will increase our stratgic Defense division, and the Roman Navy and Roman Marine Corps. How much would you want to sell the production rights, my offer is 15 billion USD for the Production rights.

Signed

We are intersted in this ship but must have a few questions answered before any purchase is considered. Could you specify the range of this vessel and its radar and sonar suites? Also we see no provision for the launch of guided surface to surface ground attack cruise missiles. Can these be fitted to the ship or are they incompatible?

Subject: Questions regarding systems/weapons

Since the Johnston-class DD is conventionally powered, its range is limited both by the constraints of fuel required for propulsion and storage of food and other consumables. Without at-sea refueling, the ship is capable of a range of 7,250 nautical miles. The ship's stores carry enough consumable foods for its complement to consume standard rations for approximately six months.

The radar and sonar suites are the standard radar and sonar suites used on all ships of Sarzonian design. We allow our customers to equip their own ships with their own systems to enhance their compatibility with other warships in their navies. Sarzonian ships operate a Combat Management System that relies on heavily encrypted data links and high-speed data sharing between the country's GPS satellites and integrates radar, sonar, and LADAR with its target recognition and acquisition software.

The specifications given for the Johnston are as a strictly AA destroyer. Our Evermore-class destroyer is more of a general purpose destroyer, but with some extraneous systems removed in the construction phase of the name ship, we can install a Mk. 41 VLS system that can launch surface-to-surface cruise missiles. The launchers for the Scorcher (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=392215) missile can also be modified to launch other missiles of similar or lesser size and weight.

We hope this sufficiently answers your questions regarding the Johnston. If you have any further questions or you would like to order, please feel free to contact me at cmdretucker@piw.co.srz (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=345001).

[OOC: I don't usually put in a list of systems because 1) I haven't fully looked into systems on my previous designs, though creating my own systems is a project for the near future; 2) Countries that have their own systems that may be more advanced than ours can put their own equipment in if it will improve the operation of the ship as long as they don't try to sell their variants.

Roman Republic, after receiving feedback from Freethinkers, I changed some of the stats, including the price. That will affect the price I would charge for production rights. Also, I haven't had a chance to do a full background check on you yet (that means I haven't had a chance to look through prior posts and threads yet to get an idea of what my decision is just yet.)]

Okay, Name your price or you can sell me the blueprint and I'll build my own flet with modifications.
