Africa has not yet been colonized by the world. Rather than in real life, in this 'world', Imperialism and Colonization was looked down upon, so European powers did not mess with the continent. The year is 2005. The population of the now swelling world nations continues to multiply while each nation looks abroad for more territory. Africa has yet to be colonized, or explored for that matter, and countries are getting desperate. This is your chance to move into Africa to claim territory, as well as explore it, map it out, and carve your empires.
Note: This is not a seperate Earth, its only an RP-idea.
OOC: Only nations that are active in RP'ing will be accepted into the RP. Ask before you intend on colonizing, and remember, the Suez Canal does not exist, nor does anything that was built by Europeans. Obviously, satellites could give you a good idea on exactly where to colonize, so it's all up to you.

OOC: I thought in rp that some people had already occupied parts of Africa...you might want to look into that. However, if that isn't a problem, I'd like to be included.

OOC: This is basically an alternate reality, I suppose, if history went differently. Kinda like when people re-create WW2 threads, in hopes to 'change' history. This RP acts as if Europe never colonized Africa, and is only an RP idea. Gaining land here won't really do much for you when it comes to claiming 'territory', but its a fun RP idea. ^.^

Sounds good... Provided we can get some conflict going and not just 'I have annexed Nigeria. Hooray.'
So the nations we can use are RL ones?

OOC: Could I join the RP as south africa?

OOC: I think there is no South Africa per se... As there is no European influence, there would likely be no borders due to the nomadic nature of African tribes. The only formal African city-states would likely be in the areas such as Great Zimbabwe, and Tanzania and up, as well as the Mali-Ghana area and the Mediterranean coast.

You don't use RL nations in this. Basically, whoever takes part in it pretends that their nation was one of the main nations at the time. For example, England, France, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, etc, did not exist. Euroslavia, New Empire, and whoever participates exist at the time, as powerful nations.
There will be no claiming 'nations' because obviously, the nations didn't exist, such as "I claim Algeria." Well, there is no such thing as Algeria anymore. Basically, you colonize wherever you want, and you make your own borders, make your own pacts, and declare war on whomever.
When it comes to resistance however, we can only assume that given 100 extra years to go out on their own, that it will be tougher to actually claim territory. RP'ing resistance is definitely recommended.

May I join this RP? May my country contain the modern day territories of Germany, Austria, and Italy to start a colonization of Africa?

Basically, where you are right now, doesn't matter. You could be where the US is, or you could be where Australia is. That really doesn't matter because of the naval technology now-a-days. All that matters is the colonies you would like to claim.

If there is not european influence? In that case would it be possible for me to lay claim to all land south of the river Vaal?
New Empire

Yeah, you could.
Of course you should be ready for a war then, because I pretty much have my eyes on SWA, Rhodesia, and South Africa region.
Diplomacy is not the first page my government turns to, especially if the land is as resource rich as that... That and I'm bored of negotiation RPs. Not that I want to blackmail you, just a warning for when I spring so it won't be a 'WTF?' moment.

All of that it completely up to you. You need to make a separate thread, showing your colonization of whatever you want, and then post that link in here. There doesn't need to be any special title or anything.

My first post in a series. I'll be doing this bit by bit, inward from the coasts of Namibia and South Africa. Kind of fiddled with history (gave them some contact with arabs and islam so they could have more complex civilization, gunpowder, artillery, etc)

Well, if I am allowed in this RP, I am set upon colonizing North Africa and then moving inward. So, if I am allowed in, I would like my country to be placed in modern-day Germany, Austria, Italy, and Greece.

Read earlier posts. I've answered your question twice already.
