After Green Sun held its elections, a terrorist organization who are internet hackers and Black Sun loyalists held the new President and the other candidates hostage. The Green Sun congress put Green Sun under martial law and killed all former United Cultures citizens, more specificly, the Covenant races that moved to Green Sun. This, of course, is Genocide. Green Sun wants the UN to try all 530 congressmen on the charge of Genocide.

Nargopia would be in favor of having the UN try these international criminals.

The appropriate response might be to quickly review United Nations Resolution #83 and request the United Nations to form the Pretenama Panel.

Being a UN organization, and not a UN member state, the International Red Cross Organization can not make such a motion.

However, on behalf of the Int'l Red Cross I'd like to ask that if any hostages still remain alive that this organization could being to work to see to it that they are well treated.

I'm pretty sure that the UN cannot take action against individual people like that. It definitely cannot move agianst one nation, and therefore logically it cannot move against members of a particular nation. If you wanted to get these terrorists you'll have to do it yourself.
Oh, wait, it's an RP. Er, I dont think that changes things though

If this is a RP, this should be moved to the right place.

OOC: There was a player who asked the mods a few days ago if UN based RP could be a sub-forum. Tonight I'll hunt for that thread, but think "Stranger's Bar". Based on that I think a TPP (Genocide hearing) could go in a few places. It certainly seems right to recruit nations here.

IC: I'm a bit reluctant to make the motion for the TPP myself, perhaps you could provide some additional information about the incident. If it seems like Genocide to me, then my government will second your motion.

The UN wouldn't be taking military action, it would be trying international criminals, which is perfectly legal.

OOC: If we're just going to debate issues, then there's no reason to have the UN other than the sake of having it. They need to be more involved. I think we should be able to RP things like this in the UN forum.

IC: Green Sun is happy that things are not looking good for their former congressmen's favor. They have annihilated an entire planet just to eliminate forces resisting their power, which were under a socialist idealism, which is mass murder on a group of people with a united idea, which could also be their second act of genocide.

I think that was why a subforum was suggested - so that this forum (the UN one) is kept clear for the issue of debating resolutions, proposals and repeals, and a sub forum can be used for UN Roleplay.

I would support such an idea, cause you are right (sort of!) - while the UN can't interfere directly, there should be some large element of roleplay and so forth within the resolutions.

OOC: Hmmm, the mods seemed to have moved this.

Thank you for posting the link to the relevant thread. I only had time to scan it, but it seems to involve future tech, therefore I'd recommend that the TPP include 15 future tech nations, of which my nation is not. However, if 15 players aren't forthcoming, I'll read the entire thread, and do some other snooping around and would roleplay ... although with a bit of coaching, perhaps a modern tech player could fit in. Ideas?

I could create a FT puppet, but I want my UN membership to stick with my current nation.

But I do 100% agree with Green Sun. The UN does need to do more than just talk about resolutions.

Whether I'm Future Tech or not doesn't matter. What does matter on what should happen to them.
