ITD News - The People Will Believe What You Tell Them To Believe

The reformation of the Imperial Senate shocked the empire today as his majesty, Emperor Erik Kersk, convened the first session of the newly formed political body.

"My father disbanded the Senate 11 years ago when the nation was in need of a more centralized power, when the will of the people could not act fast enough. I have reconvened the Imperial Senate in hope that they will assist me in bringing the nation into a new era." said Emperor Kersk as he entered Capital Hall, the new location of the Imperial Senate, deep inside Tol'Kethis Prime.

The senate's first job was to elect two consuls that will be seated at the Emperor's council. The senate will draft and submit legislation for the Emperor's approval. Current senators are those serving out the remainder of their terms from original Senate. Elections will occur in seven months.

Each sector city will be permitted two elected senators. The two senators will be elected by direct vote and then approved by the sector city's Overseer and his four Supervisors. Every 12 months a empire wide elections are made to decide the nature of the new senators. If a new addition is made to the empire during the 12 months, it is at this time that new senators may be appointed to represent the new sector cities.

The senate convenes for one week out of each month for each month of the year. It is during this time that all senate matters are taken care of.

The first meeting of the Imperial Senate after the elections require the immediate election of two Consuls to the Emperor's council. Only senators who are 35 and older may become Consuls. Only Ninthians who are are 25 and older may become senators.

And the votes have been counted, the consuls are elected.

"From the main body of the Imperium, the Senate Upper House selects Jericho DeVille of Hades Cluster."

Loud cheers erupt through the hall, slowly turning into applause and finally silence.

"From the colonial body of the Imperium, the Senate Common House selects Derik Gracchus of Northern Nevada."

The same response fills the hall, a tall man approaches the podium in the central spire, it is the Emperor.

"I approve these appointed consuls and will allow them to take their place in my council."
