Hyndun National News Radio, Channel 870 released the following broadcast just moments ago. This is the first news confirming rumors of disrtution in Hyndu's Royal City.
"Greetings and salutations. It's likely that many of you are foriegn nationals and first time listeners. This is Boti Allan coming to you live outside the royal Palace here in Hyndu City.
Military toops appeared outside the king's residence just hours ago, confirming speculation and rumor that somethign is happening inside the palace or the parliamentary hall. Parliament has been called to a special meeting in twelve hours, at an undisclosed location. We'll keep you informed as soon as more details are available. This is Boti Allan reporting live."
Unknown to the public, a little-known noble, Maradi, the leader of a regiment of Hyndun Light Infantry returning from traingin exercises outside the city, had seized control of the royal Palace, holding Lord Mariel-Hyndu hostage in his own quarters. A message, sent to concerned governments abroad by Prime Minister Ariel detailed the situation:
"To whom it may concern,
As you doubtless have heard, there have been several disturbances in the Hyndun capital today. It is the puropse of the following message to detail the exsisting situation and gather support for the exsisting institution in it's efforts to eliminate the disturbance.
At 08:32 this morning, shots were fired by leading elements of the 1st Regiment, 3rd Division, Special Corps of the Hyndun Military. They are currently acting under orders from a dissident nobleman Kendi Maradi. It is his said purpose to force the reform of the noble order by making Parliamentary elections and all other elections of public officials available to nobles and non-nobles alike, removing all special grants of nobility, and by removing the Mariel-Hyndu Dynasty from all power, reducing our proud leader to a mere figurehead.
First, let it be clarified that Hydnu is not a non-democratic nation. We allow free election of public officials, under the requirement that those elected into office be of Noble birth. Currently, there are eighty-seven extended noble families, with over four-thousand members elgable for office. They hold little in special privelages except title. Parliament has always been responsive to the will of the people, as can be seen by Majority Leader Ariel's policy of dramitically increasing military strength in our nation after public reuests to revitalize the Royal Guard. We are, and hopefully will continue to be, a Parlimentary Monarchy, secure in our national identity.
Maradi and several other disenfranchised nobles have united behind the Liberal-Noble Political Group, a minority and extremist group in Parliament. Currently, four of the five LN members in Parliament have refused Lord Hyndu's summons to a special meeting of Parliament. Their members in the governors seat in the southern ports of Darim and Allam have shut down all modes of transport in and out of the cities and have called for a popular uprising against the "totalitarian Mariel-Hyndu Dynasty." Revolts also are occuring in three other divisions of the Royal Military, inclusing a fighter wing which attacked one ship attempting to leave Darim at approvimately 10:00 today.
We desperately request help in ending this crisis and maintining the exsisting social and cultural identity of our nation. We also reccomend that any vessels attempting trade with our nation stay out of the water south of our nation, at risk of there own lives. We are currently attempting to resolve this situation and wish to do so with a minimum of bloodshed.
