Disruption in the Hyndun Capital.

Hyndu
24-01-2005, 03:57
Hyndun National News Radio, Channel 870 released the following broadcast just moments ago. This is the first news confirming rumors of disrtution in Hyndu's Royal City.

"Greetings and salutations. It's likely that many of you are foriegn nationals and first time listeners. This is Boti Allan coming to you live outside the royal Palace here in Hyndu City.

Military toops appeared outside the king's residence just hours ago, confirming speculation and rumor that somethign is happening inside the palace or the parliamentary hall. Parliament has been called to a special meeting in twelve hours, at an undisclosed location. We'll keep you informed as soon as more details are available. This is Boti Allan reporting live."

Unknown to the public, a little-known noble, Maradi, the leader of a regiment of Hyndun Light Infantry returning from traingin exercises outside the city, had seized control of the royal Palace, holding Lord Mariel-Hyndu hostage in his own quarters. A message, sent to concerned governments abroad by Prime Minister Ariel detailed the situation:

"To whom it may concern,

As you doubtless have heard, there have been several disturbances in the Hyndun capital today. It is the puropse of the following message to detail the exsisting situation and gather support for the exsisting institution in it's efforts to eliminate the disturbance.

At 08:32 this morning, shots were fired by leading elements of the 1st Regiment, 3rd Division, Special Corps of the Hyndun Military. They are currently acting under orders from a dissident nobleman Kendi Maradi. It is his said purpose to force the reform of the noble order by making Parliamentary elections and all other elections of public officials available to nobles and non-nobles alike, removing all special grants of nobility, and by removing the Mariel-Hyndu Dynasty from all power, reducing our proud leader to a mere figurehead.

First, let it be clarified that Hydnu is not a non-democratic nation. We allow free election of public officials, under the requirement that those elected into office be of Noble birth. Currently, there are eighty-seven extended noble families, with over four-thousand members elgable for office. They hold little in special privelages except title. Parliament has always been responsive to the will of the people, as can be seen by Majority Leader Ariel's policy of dramitically increasing military strength in our nation after public reuests to revitalize the Royal Guard. We are, and hopefully will continue to be, a Parlimentary Monarchy, secure in our national identity.

Maradi and several other disenfranchised nobles have united behind the Liberal-Noble Political Group, a minority and extremist group in Parliament. Currently, four of the five LN members in Parliament have refused Lord Hyndu's summons to a special meeting of Parliament. Their members in the governors seat in the southern ports of Darim and Allam have shut down all modes of transport in and out of the cities and have called for a popular uprising against the "totalitarian Mariel-Hyndu Dynasty." Revolts also are occuring in three other divisions of the Royal Military, inclusing a fighter wing which attacked one ship attempting to leave Darim at approvimately 10:00 today.

We desperately request help in ending this crisis and maintining the exsisting social and cultural identity of our nation. We also reccomend that any vessels attempting trade with our nation stay out of the water south of our nation, at risk of there own lives. We are currently attempting to resolve this situation and wish to do so with a minimum of bloodshed.

A Public Response from (most of) the Hyndun Parliament:

Hyndu will not suffer any military forces on our lands, in our waters, or in our skies who do not fly the Hyndun Royal Flag. We thank you for your concern, however, the situation is one of careful diplomatic negotiation, not military effort.

Although we respect your dependence on the methods of diplomacy, we must warn of the fact that many rebel factions will not negotiate for anything below their terms. After fighting socialist rebels abroad, our own soliders have came across the pure fanatism of these types of people and why only violence could quell their cries for this so-called dream of equality for all.

Therefore, the Confederacy of Lachenburg suggests you allow the deployment of foreign military services within your borders to safe guard your citizens and your national identity. If you choose against this course of action, I fear that this rebellion will grow into a firestorm, consuming everything your people have worked so hard to create.

Two days after the origional events, the situation had not changed. Estimates had over one-hundred-twenty well-trained soldiers holding the imperial residence and parliament hall. Around the country, four thousand soldiers, concentrated in the port of Darim, were actively fighting still shocked Royalists.

A concerned Parliament consented that, under the conditions, they were not prepared to deal with the situation.

To:Maximilian Von Hinterguard , Direktor of Defense The Confederacy of Lachenburg

Parliament voted 86-1 today in favor of allowing limited international involvement in our southern territory, for the purpose of re-establishing control of principal trade routes. We emphasize the term limited involvement to the extreme.

If your government is still willing, we will allow a total of two-thousand foriegn troops on our soil, in a combined effort to retake the port of Darim. We will not, however, allow any foriegn armour, or aircrafts to pass ono our soil, and we strongly reccomend that artilery deployment be kept to a minimum. All needed support will be provided by Hyndu's own 1st Armoured division, still fighting in the city, or by the 11th Strike Wing on combat alert some two-hundred kilometers east of rebel positions.

Let it be emphasized that the oposition is entirely regular military units, well armed, well trained, and having substantial armoured, artilery, and air support.

My thanks,
Majority leader Ariel.

OOC: I'd reccomed more than 30 men, unless you're FT, in which case, I'd refuse. If it wasn't oubvious enough, this is a MT thread.

OOC: They're special forces, so ussually 30 is more than enough for them. I'm assuming that we'd be working with other nations and coordinating attacks.

To: The Royal Govenrment of Hyndu

My associates and I are very pleased by your wise decision to alow foriegn intervention to help you stop this festering plauge of rebellion. With your premission, the Confederacy of Lachenburg would be more than welcome to deploy a Company of our legendary Uber Elitär BergenTruppen to your nation to despose these rebels.

These men have served as scouts and guides for other Lachenburgian forces since their creation 30 years ago. Highly trained in methods of covert operations, sabotage and scouting, these men would surely help give your army and edge over the enemy. The total force would be a unit of 100 soliders, along with the equipment needed for the operation.

We hope you will consider this offer, so that this conflict may end as soon as humanly possible

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Military actions began to move into high-gear, following the opening of Hyndu territory to allied troops. Inherently suspicious of foriegners, the Hyndun people, espicialy in thye military, whished to end this standoff and eliminate the need for foriegners.

Unfourtionately, that was not what happened. At 12:00, a major attack was struck at the heart of Darim, using the Hyndu-Darim highway as the main axis of advance. Initial reports went well enough, local resistance crumbled, and a wave of over one hundred T-80 tanks rolled into the heart of the city.

There they hit a brick wall. The loss of eighteen tanks from concentrated anti-tanks and artilery fire halted the column. Infantry fanned out, the localized counterattackes were driven back with heavy loss, and the Royalist artilery came pounding in with little heed for the civillians in the city. But despite this quick recovery, moumentum had been lost. The attack ceased, leaving the docks and much of the factory district in the hands of rebel troops.

Casualty statements for the day, released to the public at sundown, read Royalists 377, Liberal Socialists (the rebel leaders had stated their intent to form a socialist state in a taped interview earlier that day) 688. The next morning, rebel leaders in the city confirmed that they had lost 524 men, and admitted to the destruction of over half their armour and artilery. Nine of the twelve rebel aircraft were also shot down. A bloody and fruitless effort by both sides.
