The transport shook slightly as it skipped across the atmosphere. President William Cloushore laid back in his chair, withdrawing from the conversation that the Council members were having. The ship lurched, and the Presidential Guard members shifted around nervously. They weren't used to this many important people in one place.

Suddenly, the ship shook violently. Several council members fell to the floor. Cloudshore stood up and looked around. He yelled up the the cockpit, “What the hell is going on?”

“We're being fired at!” came a panicked reply.

“Where is our escort?!”

“They're the ones shooting at us!”

“What?!”

The ship rocked again, and the cockpit exploded, both pilots killed instantly. The security personnel rose, two running towards the pilots, the rest drawing their weapons and looking around unsurely.

A security member peered out the window. The pale expression on his face when he looked back indicated that all hell was about to break loose. A final shock and then a sudden stillness was bad news. The guard had barely mouthed “We're being boarded!” when the door in the other room was crushed, and soldiers rushed in. Weapons were drew, Cloudshore reached for his pistol, and all prepared for was was clear to come.

And then the cabin was filled with gunfire. Several of the assassins fell, but even more Presidential guard members hit the bloody carpet. William managed to kill two attackers before he himself was struck several times. As he lay dieing on the ground of the tattered transport, he could hear the anguished cries of Council members as they were murdered one by one. Has everything around him grew hazy, and his eyelids became to heavy to bear, he thought of his wife, and how he loved her so.

Special Police, “The Dreamers” HQ

Quinton Harpool reclined in his chair and allowed himself a grin. After all these months of hard work, his plans were finally coming together. He turned around and looked out his office window at the busy spacelane below. He grinned again, and the comm behind him beeped. He swiveled around and tapped it. A scarred face appeared, looking pleased with itself.

It spoke, “I trust this is a secured channel?”

“Of course,” snapped Harpool, “Do you think me a fool?”

“No, sir.”

“Very well. What is our status?”

“A complete success. They have been eliminated.”

“Very good. Begin the second phase of our plan... I shall take power shortly.”

“Of course, sir.”

“Go.”

Port Hope

The sound of the inagural trumpants filled the gigantic building. Quiton Harpool stood in full military dress uniform before the two remaining council members, whom had been coaxed into nominating him for the emergency position of Grand Minister, a position he had no intention of ever relinquishing.

As the ceremony ended he stood triumphantly and gave a victorious smile. The people of Parlim would never forget this moment.
