Breaking news: Prime Minister Ell assassinated

Pacitalia

Breaking news

Confirmed reports out of Timiocato regretfully suggest that the Prime Minister of Pacitalia, Timothy Ell, has been assassinated by someone on the inside. A toxicology report shows that the PM was killed by way of a powerful drug put into his wine glass or meal at dinner early this evening. Witnesses say within minutes, the Prime Minister was lying on the floor, without a pulse and just barely breathing.

He was transferred immediately by heli-ambulance to Timiocato General Hospital but was pronounced dead at 9:59pm CST by hospital director Marcuso Paratago.

Ell was the twenty-fourth prime minister of this nation. He served from 10 August 1996 to his untimely demise this evening with pride and respect for his people and admiration for the nation as a whole. He was only five months into his third term when today's terrible and unfortunate incidents occurred.

Prime Minister Ell is survived by his 77-year-old parents, Barbara and Marco and his three sisters, Analisa, Katerina and Kelia; along with his wife, Starr Williams, who is currently on a diplomatic child-education mission with WorldVision in Africa. She has already been notified and is flying back to Timiocato this evening to hand over power to Senior Deputy Prime Minister Nikos Karagounis. He will call an election immediately and a new, democratically-elected Prime Minister will step in.

As for the perpetrator of this brutal act, as mentioned he is already facing charges of first-degree murder, demicide and treason for his acts. It has not yet been determined whether he is a member of the Real ALM terrorist faction or of the GLNP, or to a lesser extent possibly even the Restore Sarzonia Task Force, but what is known is that yet again another man will be sentenced to death through torture in a pull-chamber.

Timothy Ell was a young 36 years old at his passing.

This is truly a sad day for the people of Pacitalia.

We are shocked and saddened at the untimely death of this great man who has led Pacitalia with tremendous honour and distinction over the course of his eight years in office.

We Sarzonians grieve with our Pacitalian brothers. I have proclaimed Monday, January 24, 2005 a Day of Mourning in Sarzonia and all Sarzonian flags the world over will fly at half mast. If there's anything we can do to help during your hours of need, please don't hesitate to ask.

The Commonwealth worked only once with Prime Minister Ell, however, I was most impressed by the intelligence and sagacity of the man. Indeed, the world has lost one of its better statesmen. On behalf of the citizens and the government of the Commonwealth I wish to express my most sincere condolences to not only the family of Prime Minister Ell, but to the people of Pacitalia who undoubtedly will also suffer from the loss of such a great man.

Mr. Sarzo -

Thank you so much for the immediate statement of genuine sorrow and grief. There is so much to be said, yet so much that can't be said at the same time to express how grateful Pacitalia is to have an ally like Sarzonia, who in essence is like a brother in any ordinary family you could pick. I would personally like to extend my gratitude towards our great friends in Sarzonia on behalf of my people - the day of mourning means so much. Thank you.

Official Statement by the Office of the Canadian Presidency

I would like to send my sincere apologies of learning the death of the Pacitalian Prime Minister Timothy Ell. I would would like to send a personal condolences to his family, his friends and associates, those who had the opportunity to meet with the man personally, to the Pacitalian people that Prime Minister Ell served for with his heart full heartedly.

These condolences also goes to the other close allies of Pacitalia, who worked on Timothy's side to establish the Group of Two and eventually he had worked to expand it to six and hopefully is dream will expand and other nations will join the ranks of the economical super power level.

Without the kindness, respect and the love for fellow man from Mister Ell was greatly appreciated. In his attitude towards others, you would know that this man was a strong Christian man who lived by his faith of belief. Without his kindness, respect, love and friendliness, Pacitalia and the Federal Republic of Canada today would not be considered close allies, but the non-aggression pact would remain.

I am glad and hope that the Prime Minister's dream will live on and remembered by all historians of a man who believed in the good, to bring the good to fellow mankind. I am also proud that I am among the ones that can call him, a friend.

Remember, his body may of been lost but our memories with him will be remembranced. I'll be renaming the hall where Pacitalians and Canadians came arm in arm as Timothy Ell Hall in his honour.

Sincerely in good faith and love,

Signore Wittrock -

Where would Pacitalia and Pacitalians be without the support, love and friendship of the people of Canada? Not anywhere near where we are now. I am glad to have this special bond with you and your people, no nation can say their bonds are stronger than the ones we have created. No nation can say their accomplishments with a friend and ally by their side are more profound than ours.

It is with that message that I add my personal gratitude and gratitude on behalf of the people of the Republic of Pacitalia for Canada's message of encouragement, love and the sharing of this burden of grief. It is times like these that we know who our true friends in the world are, and I am sure Canada and Pacitalia will remain good friends for centuries to come.

I am also sure that the Prime Minister would have been pleased to hear of your renaming of that great hall of remembrance to recognise him (albeit posthumously), but he would have been even more pleased to hear your budding, positive, thankful opinions of his policies, beliefs and work over the past eight and a half years.

Again, thank you so much. I wish you the best and as I said am more than happy to call Canada a true friend, and even go so far as to call you our best friend.

This is PNN, the world's #1 news source.

The questions already flood in tonight. Why was the Prime Minister marked for death? Who killed him? Why did they kill him? Who are they aligned with, or if not aligned, what personal vendetta did they have against the former Prime Minister? Why was this hatred so strong that they chose to act and kill him?

It may be a while before we get those answers. Until then, we can only speculate and be grateful of the already immense support being received from the international community as they learn of the tragedy that has befallen the great people of Pacitalia this warm, calm January evening in La Repubblica.

Good evening, I'm Niles Parker and we are broadcasting live from Alto Parlemento. Tonight, Pacitalia has seen a tragedy far worse than anything we could have imagined - our prime minister, Timothy Ell, assassinated, ironically enough, by one of his favourite things, a glass of white wine. In that wine was a powerful, dissolvable poison powder that killed Prime Minister Ell within thirty minutes of his first sip of the wine.

Another thing makes tonight doubly ironic - the sunset. It was something else - red and purple hues mixing with an enormous golden sun and wispy white clouds. Sunsets were the Prime Minister's most favourite of favourite things, and it is ironic that on this night of his untimely death, he misses one of the best sunsets in weeks.

The 36-year-old leader of our nation is currently being exhumed and prepared for his posthumous ceremonies. First, he will lie in state at the Capostica and then at the Camera di Santi, after four days he will be transferred next door to the Grademento and buried beside 21 of his 23 predecessors. We will note that former prime ministers Athena Papistikas and Daniel Cicerone are still enjoying life as our prime minister cannot.

His shoes are filled by his Senior Deputy Prime Minister, Nikos Karagounis, who will call an election after the burial of Ell in the Grademento.

More after this.

Dimitri swung his legs over the side of his bed, wiping his eyes of the dust and grime of sleep. He felt horrible, everything ached. And now, he hurt more, having found out about the death. Thats what he refered to it as now.. just The Death. Weeks ago, Dimitri himself had been poisoned, but it wasn't this... this horribly. Dimitri had seen the threat, had embraced it and leaped towards it. Tim hadn't seen it coming... truely horrible. A leader should die either heroically, or after serving his term and country. Some heartless person robbed Tim of these oppertunities at such a young age.

Dimitri stood, his hand instantly went to his spine as he leaned backwards, stretching. A loud cough sputtered from his throat, hoarse. Taking small steps he reached out for his coat and swung it over his shoulders. He stumbled out of his room, down the pastel blue hallway towards the desk. A nurse immediatly got up to intercept him, but Dimitri's guards had moved to his sides as soon as he had left the doorway. They simply moved her aside, as Dimitri left the hospital for the first time in weeks.

Outside he stepped into his black Cadillac CTS, flanked by his guards. The big car pulled away from the curb as the powerful engine purred. Dimitri Milosvaji, President of Artitsa, was on his way to see Timothy Ell for the last time. Dimitri's head throbbed, as he swallowed down two advil, sighing, thinking about the man that had saved his life only weeks ago.

The Hyndun Royal deligates arrived in Pacitalia early the morning of Minister Ell's funeral. The group consisted of nine nobles of varried impostance, as well as six guards and a translator. The large group waited in the grey light of morning while three black sedans, bought for this purpose, were brought to them. Quite a strange sight, lavishly dressed in black and gold, the suits particularly strange to the foriegn eye.

The premier guest, daughter of Lord Mariel-Hyndu, Ati Mariel-Hyndu, climbed into the second vehicle, followed by Governor Darim and his wife. The cabin was cramped, dark, and Ati felt suddenly overdressed and uncomfortable as Governor Darim's cigar filled the compartment with smoke. None the less, the drive went without incident, the three diplomats conversing quietly amongs themselves.

"Eshal tabashibmini tromchimanih'. I' kash?"
(This is quite the tradgedy, wasn't it?)

"O. Tabashibmini tromchi'monih'. Tah' e'h basham vah', Dari'm Ge'n, re'h' okama avash?"
(Yes. It certainly is. Tell me again, Mr. Darim, how did he die?)

"Re'h' okama iv tamach."
(He was poisoned.)

"E'. Va daromini hamashim. Yomash iv E'l Ge'h' kash?"
(Oh. I'm sorry to hear that. How is his wife?)

"Rah' te'ni. E'h daromin tromchimonih', eshal boltishimi nonih', Ge'h' iv va."
(She's fine. Don't be too sad though. This is still politics, my lady.)

"O. Oyo."
(Yes. Of course.)

Making an effort to look somber, the guests arrived at the Camera di Santi on schedule.

OOC: I don't know why I just did an entire post in a foriegn language. Maybe I'm just wierd. Whatever. I have a thing for languages and I wanted to test one out that I'm finalizing. Lol. Going to go now...

As someone whose entire life has been marked by death and assassinations, I can empathize with the Ell family. To loose a cherished family member naturally is heart breaking, to have them ripped away before their time is horrific.

While I never had the honor of meeting Mr. Ell face to face, those occassions when the Governments of our two nations worked together were always marked by agreement and productivity. This is PNN, the world's #1 news source.

Good afternoon. This is Niles Parker live at the Camera dei Santi where the new Prime Minister, Nikos Karagounis, makes an introductory statement and eulogy regarding the death of Prime Minister Timothy Ell in just a few minutes.

Ell lay in state at the Capostica last night where approximately one million people filed past to pay their respects to the late prime minister. He was moved to the Camera dei Santi this morning where at least another 500,000 mourners filed past the open casket. Most notable among the mourners at the Camera today was Artitsan president Dimitri Milosvaji who ironically enough was himself saved by Prime Minister Ell during an attempted assassination of the Sarzonian president at peace talks two and a half weeks prior to today. Also present was the daughter of Lord Mariel of the nation of Hyndu and other Hyndun royal delegates.

I'm standing here with University of Mandragora Political Scientist Marco Zulotti. Marco, give us a sense of how the Karagounis administration will play its cards pre-election on both domestic and foreign policy.

"Well, I think right now will be a bit of downtime - for at least a week or two, to reflect on the recent events and reestablish the administration in this country. Afterwards, we'll have to see how he handles his domestic policies. Karagounis' beliefs are eerily similar to Ell's, so I wouldn't be surprised if there is little or no change in the way this nation is run."

What about Signore Karagounis' foreign policies?

"Karagounis takes a hard, difficult-to-follow path on his opinion of foreign policy of Pacitalia. In this war between Sarzonia and Roach-Busters he seems to be of the opinion that when the two sides are ready, they will come to Pacitalia instead of Pacitalia demanding their attendance at the talks. That was unfortunately one of the failures of the Ell government - the assassination attempt on President Sarzo and the subsequent fallout and questioning of Pacitalian security for foreign diplomats.

It also appears that Karagounis may continue the fight against the ALM terrorist faction, but to a lesser extent than Ell had done while he was leader."

Thank you, Mr. Zulotti. That was Marco Zulotti of the University of Mandragora.

The new Prime Minister has begun to speak, we'll go live now.

----------

Dear friends, neighbours, citizens, allies, all of you that are present here today to witness the aftermath of the befallen Prime Minister, thank you for coming here to this sacred place of the holy Christian faith.

Last night, the world was shocked to hear of this tragedy, this awful incident that caused a dramatic shake-up, both emotionally and politically, of this great country. However, no one was as shocked or could be as shocked as the very people who lived under his friendly, open rule. I knew the man personally for a long time and there are no words to describe how fond and proud he was of his people. Every day he came into the Prado with a smile on his face, ready to battle whatever challenges came our way. Whenever someone in our nation accomplished a great thing or pushed Pacitalia further up the charts in global importance, he would be ecstatic. Of course, he did a lot of that himself, sometimes without even being aware.

We all know that despite our political differences, Timothy Ell was one of our great leaders. He and former prime minister Francesco Santo Ragazzo brought this country together when it was down on its luck and brought it back up to a status among world greats in a matter of a few years.

Ell created stronger bonds with the international community by opening Pacitalia's doors to the world. Today, over 80 countries have a diplomatic envoy in Timiocato, showing just how connected Pacitalians are to their global neighbours and friends. Pacitalia has over fifteen very strong allies because Signore Ell embraced the world instead of pushing it away and believing Pacitalia could be important by its own ways.

Pacitalia would definitely not be where it is today without his love, support and admiration for his people and the belief and confidence that Pacitalians could do anything they set their minds to. It was that attitude that puts Pacitalia smack-dab in the middle of the world stage today.

And with that, I thank the Prime Minister. I thank him for his hard work, and his positive attitude, and above all else, his love for his wife, parents and siblings. It was that that will be missed most of all.

May he rest in peace, forever and ever.

And now, Archcardinal Mario Bandasso of the Roman Catholic Church.

Let us pray.

We are deeply saddened by the death of your great leader. We believe we once knew him, did we not? It is of no matter now. Hopefully your nation can pull through such a time of sadness. It must be terrible. Once again, we offer our condolences.

Pacitalia;

On behalf of the government of Amarenthe, we are deeply sorrowed and shocked by this news. Words cannot express the depth of our condolances, both to Pacitalia in losing such a remarkable leader, and to Prime Minister Ell's family.

We owe Prime Minister Timothy Ell a great deal, as he led the reforms in our nation, and helped make our nation the nation it is today. Amarenthe will mark the day of his far-too-early death as a day of mourning, and look to the new Prime Minster to continue diplomatic relations, despite this tragedy. Ties between our two nations cannot be allowed to fall apart, but instead must be strengthened, for through difficult times, allies are of even greater worth.

Prime Minister Ell will always be remembered and honoured in Amarenthe, and we will always stand by, ready to support you, are allies.

It is blatantly obvious to anyone capable of rational thought that Michael A. Sarzo is responsible for Timothy Ell's death.

The aforementioned death of this great leader has left the emperor in shock.
The Empire of Culex will hereby search out the world for clues leading to his death.
His Majesty, Emperor K. Bortholemew will attend the funeral as well as start the 7 days of prayer and mourning (including all culexian flags at halfstaff).
Again we are shocked at his sudden death.

The sixteen Hyndun deligates stood uncomfortably in the Camera dei Santi, showing a minimum of emotion. Handshakes and sympathetic words were exchanged between the delegates and Signore Karagounis, as well as the Ell family. In front of them, a pair of Hyndun newscasters, fresh on the scene, were talking.

"Good evening. This is Ati Bshe reporting live from the Camera Dei Santi, where, in a suprise visit, representitives of the five noble houses have made an apperance here for the funeral of Pacitalian Prime Minister Ell. Radio AM 870 Hyndu National will be takeing you through the funeral."

"Quite a supriseing turn of events. If I remember history correctly, this is the first time a member of the Royal family has been outside the country in... Well, I'm not sure how long it was Ati. I know this is the first time I've seen it though."

"That's right, this is the first time a Mariel-Hyndi has set foot on foriegn soil. The last time a royal set foot on foriegn soil was back in 1912. If you recall, Lord Mati Hyndu visited the frontlines during the colonial wars shortly before his death and the ending of the Hyndun Dynasty."

"That's right, this truely is history in the making. In a few moments we'll take you to the floor with Governor Darim as he makes a public announcement for the Mariel-Hyndi family and indeed, all of Hyndu.

We'll be back after this short message."

Does your employer provide you with limited benefits, inflexable hours, or minimum wage? Do you want better standards of employment and living? If so, vote for representitives Maradi, Latha, Bshlam, Shom, and Matha back into office and continue the campaign for better woking standards and unionization. Your country needs your vote! (This message paid for by the Maradi and Latha Noble Families, and the Liberal-Noble Political Party. Remember, vote LN.)

"And we're back, Ati, where there seems to be some commotion on the floor. Let's see. Yes, just in, Governor Darim has released a public apology to the Ell family for having to leave the funeral. It seems there are disturbances in the capital and all representitives are being called for an emergency meeting of Parliament. We'll switch you over to another line and find out what's going on in the capital in just a moment. Remember, stay with AM 870, Hyndu National News."

The deligates made a minimum of fuss, walking slowly out the ornately decorated enterance of Camera dei Santi, past the crowds of mourners still flocking to see the late Minister Ell. Their black sedans wer let through and rushed the representitives away to a private jet in a matter of moments, leaving the funeral to continue without them.

Emperor Titus Celmaetus -

We are humbled by the fact that so many of our strong allies have immediately sent messages of genuine condolence. You are among them and we thank you for your support during this emotional crisis the people of Pacitalia are forced to endure. Let me give you me unbreakable vow that I will continue to help you destroy the ALM, piece by piece until the world is rid of it. If they are in any way responsible for this massacre of our leader, they will pay dearly. Killing Lucius was horrible enough for the Prime Minister and myself to endure, and now that he is dead as well, I will say how angry and despondent I am that they had to be taken from us. Contact me if you need anything and thank you for the support. I hope you will pass this sincere message of gratitude onto your people.

Nikos Karagounis
Prime Minister of Pacitalia

It is your burden to share with us. Prime Minister Ell was one of the greatest humans I have had the pleasure to know, with his skillful speech and utmost knowledge of this world, understanding how the mind works; therefore making for a magnificent leader. And you, Prime Minister Karagounis, take after him in many ways. In you, I see the same stong-willed spririt and kind-hearted soul that I frequently associated Mr. Timothy Ell with. May Pacitalia flourish, both under your leadership and in the many ages ahead, and may Timothy Ell rest in peace.
