International Press Release from the new Kaiserin (Empress)

At the Golden Palace last week the newly elected 14 year old Marie Sophia Isbella von Hapsburg was crowned Kaiserin Marie II at the historic Cathedral of Santiago in the captial of Kuzern. Upon her arrival here at Ausvielles the Kaiserin has been most busy in the affairs of the state and the crown. Today on the advice of her father, Prince-Elector Maxmillian von Hapsburg, the Kaiserin had decreed that Kanarra is to open itself up the world for the first time since the nation closed itself after the decree of her distant uncle, Kaiser Rudolf V in the late 1600s.

The Kaiserin in her decree has asked for the status of the Hapsburg family world wide, because no word has reached Kanarra for a long time on that matter. The Kaiserin also asks for a list of the most powerful dynasties today, so she can see what the status of the Great Families are. The Kaiserin also, though relucntly, asks for the nations of the world to give her nation aid, for Kanarra is so behind in the world because of the Isolation. And finally the Kaiserin asks for a list of alliances and thier polilices, so she can see which one would be good for Kanarra.

In the case of trading the Kaiserin has set aside the town of Argovilla in the sunbelt south as a trading town for internationals. Her Majesty also wishes to announce that all diplomats and forigen envoys will be housed in the Golden Palace in Ausvielles, so that they will not have to travel far to see Her Most Catholic Majesty.

On a final note the Kaiserin wishes to announce that she will taking any and all questions related to herself, her family, and Kanarra. For this, she believes, will help foster relations with others.

As we have not seen you on the world stage before, we would like to ask a quetion of you. Is this a traditional Empire, a parliamentary Empire, or an Empire where the Empress has no power?

"The Kaiser or Kaiserin is elected by a council of Prince-Electors. Once elected the ruler holds monarchal power until death, when a new monarch is elected. I do have a question for you though, how can there be nation with a monarch with no power? Do some people not reconizge the God-given right of a the monarch to rule?"

"We will answer your question gladly. Some nations have a figurehead monarch who has lost all their power, and the nation is ruled by a Prime Minister or other leader who is said to rule the nation for the monarch. Some people, ourselves included, do not believe in the God-given right to rule, which is why we are a Republic."

Kaiserin Marie II looked at the paper in her hand shocked, no monarch?, no belief in the God-given authority of the throne? preprosperus!


"FATHER!" she yelled enraged, standing up from her throne "FATHER!". A few moments later a well groomed man in a fine white coat with red cuffs and gold lace walked in. "What is it Marie? You know such yelling is not benefiting of a monarch, especially a Hapsburg monarch."

Marie glared ice at Prince Maximillian "Father you said that republicanism died out ages ago, that those foolish notions of rule by the mob and the diminshing of crown power are extinct! Look at this paper Father! What do you make of it?"

Maximillian read the paper and sighed "I hoped to protect you Marie, from Republicanism. I did not think we would ever encounter a republic this early, I hoped that I would have the time to explain before your first encountered one. I am sorry"

Marie glared at her father "Well it is too late now for that, we should talk about this at some later time, for now we should respond those....... ugh" with that she turned and left. 'That girl is getting more like her mother everyday' Maximillian as he watched Marie walk, more like stomp, away.

We would like to enquire as to the state of your economy and if you would appreciate foreign investment, as there has already been a little interest from one or two of our larger firms. We would also like to enquire as to you national resources, again for these purposes.

Notquiteaplace sees all nations as potential trading partners and naturally would push for free trade between our nations. We understand this may be a little radical for your nation however, and leave the exact terms for you to propose, Notquiteaplace is willing to undergo totally free trade, so any offer you make will not be too open.

Finnally we offer you an exchange of embassies. This would merely allow our nations to exchange information and negotiatie more efficiently. We would have it that news and other information available to the public of one of our nations is available to the public, or at least the government of the other, though the decision for this again rests with you.

To his Excellency President Bongo: Muslims have been the bane of the Mother Church and my family since that cursed Mohammed invented the devil religon in the first place. I will never reconizge the rights or freedoms of muslims, and this I promise with Mary as my witness. And futhermore President Bongo I suggest that you drop the matter now, I will not change my mind.


To Advisor Zabic: I am afraid that I do not know what you are speaking to me about, what changed in 1966?

To President Cox: The economy of Kanarra is strong thank you for asking. Natural resources are plentiful here, truly God blesses those who follow Him. I believe that until Kanarra is better adjusted and attuned limited trade should take place, you may set up shop in Argovilla. As for embassies I accept though your ambassador and his staff must stay at Ausvielles, where would ours go in your country?

After finishing the letters Marie looked around and yelled for her butler, who took the messages to be sent to their prospective nations.

Getting up Marie streched and walked to her throne where she sat down and yawned.

OOC: We are spread accross the entire carribean, but somehow have thriving mining sectors

Your embassy would be in the capital city, Notquiteaplace, on Jamaica. It would be located in the locale of several other embassies and within walking distance (about 1-2km) from the houses of Parliament. There is also a subway and train station within 500 metres and port a few miles away.

All our embassies fall under very high security cover from our SAM system and also from our orbital defense platforms, Notquiteaplace is well defended throughout it's territory.

If this is acceptable, we shall accept you terms. I am assuming standard embassy rules, which include political immunity to small crimes for all parties, provided they are largely responsible and up to 50 armed personnel, provided they leave weapons on site. We would prefer these, though we would settle for 10 armed guards and no immunity for us if you have a problem with these terms. You will still be granted these however.

However much we would like to send a delegate, none are available during the occupation of our homeland and the hold upon our assets around the world are stretched thin, almost to the breaking point.

However, should your nation be able to provide decent security, I myself, as First Imperial Councillor to the Emperor would be willing to pay a state visit to your fine country for several days. Should you be so generous to grant me this, I will adress the issues of an embassy and potentional alliances with the Dumpsterdanian Empire.

Welcome to the global villiage. We, too, are a recent addition to the international arena, having just founded our empire post a civil war. We hope to foster relations, as we agree that republics should have died out long ago, with democracies and similar governments, because of the inefficiency and weakness of such mob rule. Thus, we have established an empire. However, your "god-given right" alarms us. Such an antiquated idea as heriditary rulership seems out of place in the modern world; a meritocracy to fill beaureucratic positions and an appointed sucessor based on skills rather than ancestry is our choice of ruling. Still, to each his or her own.

OOC: Yes, it's true that few new people read the stickies, and then the rest of us get to read about 5 million population nations n00king teh world with 50 million man uber-armies. :rolleyes: I am grateful that you took the time to learn how to RP reasonably before making a completely outlandish post, and you are to be commended for this. :)

IC: The Evil Hippie Empire sends greetings to the Queendom of Kanarra and its ruler, Kaiserin Marie. We are a republic that allows our citizens extensive political and civil freedoms, and we always have been. Our nation is relatively new, about 200 years old, so you probably have never heard us before.

We are able to offer your nation economic assistance, including the construction of an airport in your capital city. This would greatly assist in any international trade you wish to conduct. We also possess extensive technology in geology and can assist your nation in exploring for any subterranean resources it might have. In fact, our geologic abilities are so advanced that we use earthquake-unleashing intercontinental ballistic missles for deterrence instead of more traditional nuclear weapons (ooc: check out my sig). Fortunately, we have never had to use them.

If you would like, we can also help modernize your educational system, though such assistance might lead to more culture shock than you feel your nation can handle.

This aid, of course, rests upon your approval. We look forward to peaceful relations with your people in the future.

I have only one question: Is there any Catholic Churches near the embassy? My people are very devout Catholics you must understand President Cox.


To Counciller Damocales: I reject your proposal Counciller. I will not, and will not have my people around those who follow a leader who blaspheme against God by calling themselves divine! (OOC: Nothing personal Dumpsterdam, just trying to act incharater for a devout Catholic)


To Emperor Meltdown: It is nice to meet some one that is atleast somewhat like minded. I agree with you that rule by the mob is inefficient and weak. Kanarra is not a heridatary monarchy, I was elected to this position by the great princes of Kanarra, true the Hapsburg family has been Kaiser and Kaiserin many times, but Kanarra's ruler like the one of the Holy Roman Empire is elected by the princes. God has given me and my family the right to rule right now and this I believe with all my heart.


To Prime Minister Woody II: Thank you for the offers of assistence Prime Minister, however we will only take the offers for help with airport building (the current one is some what out of date) and subterranean exploration. I do have two demands that you must agree too first though:

Unus: You must keep your filthy mob rule ideals to yourselves. I will not have dirty republicanism in my nation.

Dos: You must not disprupt daily life in Kanarra as much as you humanly can. I do not want too much disruption you must understand.

I see. That is a good system, if only the educated and meritous can vote. However, I must ask about the qualifications to become voting prince? This is mostly out of curiousity, nto for other reasons.

Kaiserin my apologies for the misunderstanding, I shall explain the history of our lands.

Dumpsterdam has always been a constitutional monarchy, however from the begining it has always been reffered to as an empire, this has not been changed ever since. Dumpsterdam still upholds the monarchy in the name of its armed forces and in ways of succeeding to the throne.

As to the divine part, most of our subjects refer to our Emperor as divine yes, considering the man is over 600 years old and has yet to show signs of aging is a miracle to say the least no? I would be happy to discuss these things with you, and you alone if you so desire. I have no intentions of sharing my beliefs or my visions with your people.

Kaiserin Marie II, we will issue a travel advisory for your nation alerting citizens who go there that if they criticize the Kanarran government, they are likely to be arrested. However, should any of our citizens be arrested or detained for activities considered subversive, we request that you deport them back to Evil Woody Thoughts immediately instead of detaining them for long periods of time.

We will not ask for extraterritoriality, only that Evil Woody Thoughts citizens who commit crimes be deported instead of going through your judicial system. One of the ideals of 'dirty republicanism' is not forcing it upon other nations who don't want it, with a few highly nationalistic and militaristic exceptions.

The aid is contingent on this agreement. Once again, we don't mind if you wish to minimize foreign influence; we only want to make sure that those who run afoul of you don't languish in prison for thirty years. As a practical matter, we have little direct control over what our citizens say and do, but we will warn them not to run afoul of your customs nonetheless.

To Emperor Meltdown: Well to be a Prince-Elector one must be a wealthy landowner of sizeable fame and fortune, a member of the One Holy Mother Church, come from a family of repute, and be honorable. Of course the above requirements are even more tight for a Prince-Elector to eleigable for election to the throne, those not eleigable can be part of the Reichstag/Cortes, the legistative body. As you can see the requirements, made to resemable the requirements for Prince-Electors in the Holy Roman Empire make sure that only the honorable can take part, no riffraff or anyone else that is below us.


To Counciller Damocales: Hmm that is is a miracle of God that your Emperor has been alive for 600 years. As long as your Emperor does not himself consider himself divine I will think about letting your people into Kanarra

The Inquistion here works much like the one in Spain, which last I heard was still going strong when Kanarra closed up at the end of the 1600s and still functions today. I do not believe that it is possible to free some one from the Inquistion, unless they recant or there is popular outrage at the idea of the execution. In any case I will see if I can advise Archbishop Martell to not arrest and try outsiders.

This seems a good system, but I suggest that you consider more than just honor. To be sure, it is a valuable and great system, but by no means perfect; honest men and women with honorable intentions have done great evils before. No, intelligence and capability is another important trait that I would advise you screen for.
Seeing that you are not politically estraged from us, and that there is a strong chance of equal goals, I would like to extend a proposal of alliance. However, I regret to say that I cannot aid you if the rumors of dissent and unrest are true; we do not have the forces and even if we did we are unwilling to aid in a war for religous reasons.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. We will wait until we hear a statement from Archbishop Martell as to whether he plans to threaten our citizens should they enter Kanarra. We will require that our citizens keep their passports on their person at all times, so the Inquisition has no trouble identifying the "exceptions." Should the Inquisition believe that one of our citizens poses a threat to the church, the Inquisition should immediately refer said citizen to the Kanarran government for deportation.

Before we can release the aid, we must first find out if the Inquisition finds this satisfactory.

The Ministry of Commerce will require maps and any geological data your nation has on record to determine which areas to survey for subterranean resources, and we need to know the layout of the current airport, and whether the land around it is developed, to determine if it is more practical to upgrade the existing airport or build a new one."

OOC: 1966 was the year in which the Catholic Church modernised from it's medieval form, it's since gone back a little etc but a lot of what was agreed in 1966 is still in place. Effectively my nation practices medieval Catholicism... since it's more fun :D

After 1966 the Devil entered Rome, when they got rid of many of the true God's Covenants and Creeds. We would ask you whether you perform true Catholicism or the new form, which we know to be Satan's handiwork.

To Advisor Zabric: Thank you for your advice noble Advisor Zabric, I have just looked into the post 1966 doctrines, and I find them aborrhent to me. Archbishop Martell agrees with my feelings and as a result pos-1966 doctrine has been outlawed by the Church here.

As the Lord Archon prepared to leave the craft, he composed himself.

An ambassador? We have too much on our plate already. I'm needed back home, not out here. We can appoint ambassadors, if we need them, the leader thought, but he knew that for their first alliance, it would be important to send someone of sufficient rank. Still, having to come irritated him. Closing his eyes for a moment, he then calmed his face and stilled emotion. Young for such a leader at only twenty years old, Wraith was Indian in appearance, but lacked a regional accent. Wearing all black, and simple clothes, the Anikian leader climbed out of the helicopter.

"We would be happy to accept an exchange of embassies between our two nations, although we think that for simplicity's sake it would be best only to one conference on future Praeto-Kanarran relations. A group of Kanarran soldiers dressed in the style of the Renisseance period appoarched the Anikian ambassador.

"Greetings to you Lord Wraith. I am Angelo and I was told by Her Most Catholic Majesty to escort you to Golden Throneroom, I must ask that you stay close" with that he turned around and yelled something indistint in Latin to the soldiers, who fell into two lines and began to march towards the guilded gates of the Golden Palace.

A group of VTOL transports entered Kanarrian airspace under heavy escort, a mighty fleet of interceptors and heavy bombers that must have overwhelmed any sort of radar that the Kanarian military had.

This is 6th Royal Air Legion to Argovilla airport, we request permission to land.

A rather shaken sounding controller replied as he designated all runways and the available helipads to the incoming swarm of aircraft.
6th Royal Air Legion, you are cleared to land on all available runways and helipads.

A good half an hour later the first off the massive VTOL transports where being unloaded, dozens of wounded men and equipment where being transported to the edge of the airfield there the Councillors forces had set up a small camp away from the busiest part of the airfield. Airpatrols had been set up in a way that civilian air traffic would not be hindered.

Nearby, standing nearly eight foot tall in blue shining armour was councillor Damocales with his small bodyguard of naval stormtroopers, waiting for his lift to the palace.

A man a group of guards apporoached Counciller Damocales, the head guard looked terrifed at the sight of the massive blue giant



"I-- I--- I-- am Daemon Raenhoild, leader of the unit assigned to escort you to the Golden Palace at Ausvielles. I ask that you follow me to a waiting plane that will take you to the small field at Ausvielles. We had no idea you would so---- tall, so I hope that the plane will not be too uncomfortable"

with that Raenhoild turned and barked out orders in Latin, the troops fell in a column and the small group marched to a waiting plane on the other side of the airfield.

Wraith nodded and smiled slightly, enjoying the day. There was much to be said for this country, and the time spent coming here seemed less like a waste and more like time off, with some work invovled. "Hello, Angelo. I hope you don't mind if three of my men follow me - an honor guard, you see. they can come unarmed, if you so require." Three men climbed out of the helicopter, all young but still older than their commander, and carrying no weapons. The four men followed the soldiers towards the palace.

Without a word Alfarius's troops filed out beside him.
"That will be quite alright...sergeant?" He did not see any markings that designated the man as an officer so he asked first before making any stupid comments later.

"Well you can tell me on the plane, lets go." He smiled at Daemon as he followed him to the airplane. "Don't worry about the airplane, I've squeezed myself into tighter positions before."

Angelo turned back to look at Wraith "No I do not mind if you bring an honor guard with you" he said while keeping the tempo of the march with his halberd

At the gates of the Golden Palace Angelo looked up and yelled "Hail the Gate! I bring Lord Wraith of Anikian for Her Majesty!" the gates man nodded and the massive golden gates swung open for the small group.


Once inside the palace the guards put thier halberds on a rack and march unarmed to the Auidence Chamber. "All right here is the Audience Chamber my lord, just go on in. I am sure that La Reina Marie is waiting for you" (OOC: only the german speaking half of Kanarra call Marie Kaiserin, the Spanish speaking half calls her La Reina, the Queen)

Argovilla

Daemon sighed in relief as the group got near the plane. "Well I am happy to hear that you are used tight spots Counciller."

The group walked only a bit futher before they arrived the plane, it was not a large plane to be sure, but neither was it small. Daemon opened the door for the Counciller and then got in himself afterwards. Tapping the pliot on the shoulder Daemon told him it was okay to begin preps for lift off.

Smiling Daemon turned around to face the Couciller "Oh and so that you know Counciller my rank is that of Lieutenant, but I did not take offense at being called Sergeant"

Alfarius chuckeld. "Sorry about that, the DSS isn't what it used to be and we have absolutely no information about your country whatsoever."
He cramped himself into a two seat arrangement and the rest of his guards piled into the aircraft with their weapons on safety, there was no need for accidents and the Councillor had told them to relax even though that was something they had no been trained for. Storming through hails of bullet fire, taking bunker after bunker, running through minefields and living through it all, that was what they where trained for...

OoC: Your next post can detail landing and arrival at the palace, it will make sure that this doesn't get scretched out.

OOC: sorry about the delay. And I know it's late, but yes, well done on this credible start. It's better than I managed for about six months on NS.

IC: This should not be a concern, Notquiteaplace has a large mix of various religeons, we are a tolerant country and those who want to tolerate others will in turn receive the same treatment.

As a major city and the largest religeous group (besides athiests, who we find hard to count for various reasons) in Notquiteaplace being Catholoics, you will find one Cathederal and two churches in the city. The cathederal is a 1km walk away. The churches are at other ends of the city.

We hope these arrangements are suitable.

The plane landed at the small airstrip outside of the palace town of Ausvielles. Climbing out of the plane first in order to form up his guard Daemon scrambled from his side of the plane to the other side were his troops had formed up. Daemon quickly gave the form up order and the little group made way to one of the Golden Gates.

At the gate Daemon walked foward and yelled "Hail the Gate! I bring Counciller Damocales of Dumpsterdam!" the gate man took one look at the Counciller and nearly fainted at the height of him, but he opened the gate and the little group entered the Palace.


After a few minutes they arrived at a door "Alright Counciller Damocales sir, this here is a door to the throne room, Das Kaiserin is probably still there. You may need to duck your head to get in though"

Alfarius looked over his armour, no scratch or dent to be seen and the painted skull on his left massive shoulderplate smiled at him with an uneering glance. The armour was more like a second skin, plugged into his very nerves and so allowed him to move with ease with a bit of help from the built in silent servo engines. His helmet hung from his left hip, massive sword on the right and his usual cloak was replaced by a massive wolf pelt.

Alfarius Damocales stretched himself out once more before he entered the room, slightly bending his head as his military style cut hair touched the top of the doorframe. His heavy adamantine boots echoed through the throne room as he aproached what must have been the Kaiserin.

"Milady..."

Kaiserin Marie II stood up from her throne to look at the big man who just entered. Marie was 5 foot 6 inches in height and rather slim, she already showed signs that she would be a beautiful woman once she reached adulthood. The Kaiserin wore her waistlenghth golden brown hair in rather complicated hairstyle that never let the hair go past her shoulders, she looked over the giant with her deep ocean blue eyes and fashed her perfect teeth coming down from her throne, though she had to pick some of her massive gold and blue dress to walk.


"Ah, you must be Counciller Damocales I am sure of it" she said, with a hint of an Austrian accent visible in her voice. "I am most happy to you here Counciller, tell me was your ride here comfortble?"

"My entrance into Kanarra was rather full of flak and surface to air missiles, but I think you mean the flight towards the palace milady which was rather cramped but enjoyable."
Alfarius searched his magnetic belt for a few items which where put together in a blue velvet bag, he removed the bag and revealed a solid silver cross inlaid with sapphires in all shapes and sizes. The biggest one could have covered a grown man's hand and Alfarius presented it to Marie. "It is yours, as a gift, it was all we could save from the once mighty cathedral in the centre of the capital. The Emperor would have wanted it that it passed into your possession."

After he had handed over his precious gift he started on the business side of his visit. "Kaiserin, as you are aware I am not only here to visit your country, I am also here to arrange a possible exchange of diplomats and military observers should you find this necessary.

Marie gasped in happy suprise at the gift and curtseyed before she took the cross and handed it over to a servant standing behind her. Smiling she turned to face the Counciller "Of course we should get down to buisness now, I of course believe that we should exchange diplomats, in order to lay the foundations to future good relations. As for military observers, what exzactly would they do beyond.... passive observing I think it is called?"

Wraith signaled to his three men, and they nodded and waited outside. He entered, but realized that the Kaiserin was already busy with another diplomat, though the other man didn't look much like an ambassador. Military leader of some nation, then. Bowing deeply, he said formally, "The Lord Archon of the Anikian Empire, Wraith, is at your service, your majesty. Should I leave to avoid interrupting you? The guards seemed fine sending me in, but if you are busy, I can wait."

Marie was suprised when Wraith interduced himself. "Begging your pardon Counciller but I must speak a little with Lord Wraith" turning to Wraith she smiled and curtseyed to him. "Lord Wraith you do not have to leave the throne room. You can wait in here, anywere actually"

With all due respect, the Pope is not Christ's Vicar as you put it. Furthermore to reject any Christian nation is a foolish move, as one considers the huge number of dirty socialists and evil communists that hunger for blood. You have a lot to learn young one, I hope one day you will see that it is in fact the office of High Priest that is selected by God, and not the that of the Pope.

Wraith nodded amiably. "Very well. I shall wait here; continue your buisness though I wasn't." Taking a seat, he pulled out a headset. "Do you mind if I call back home for a moment?"

The Kaiserin shook her head "No I do not mind if you call home".

Alfarius nodded as she moved to meet with Lord Wraith. As his HUD moved over him a mirrage of information sprang up, from height and weight to weapons present and the colour of his socks. He nodded patiently to himself and waited for the Kaiserin's return which was a half a minute later.

Alfarius smiled and continued. "Where was I? Ah yes, the exchange of diplomatic personal."

Alfarius opend his hand, palm up and lowered it a bit so Marie could see directly into the blue flickering holo screen that had sprang up. "We will send a ambassador as soon as we can free up one from the main diplomatic compound in Farmina where most of our diplomatic staff is housed. Unfortunatly he won't have any staff at his disposal due to lack of manpower."

The screen flicked over, displaying a personal file on Colonel Wolf. "This will be the man that will be assigned to your military, he will observe and if need be help you in your military actions. I can assure his loyalty personaly. And if you would be so kind to send a few of your officers back with me, I shall see to it that they be dispatched to the hot spots around the globe that involve the combat of Dumpsterdanian troops."
