"Another great day in the development of Chellian Military systems! The armoured component of LGW industries has come up with a revolutionary vehicle for Anti-tank combat, as well as infantry support.

The ROST is a low profile, high damage, remotely operated vehicle. Equipped in most cases with a Trigat LR missile launcher and a 5.56mm Light machine gun, the six foot tall Mini-tank is meant to obliterate any armoured threat able to be found. Able to be controlled 20km away from a transmitter, which can be mounted in something as simple as a heavy truck, the tank is controlled by a remote interface.

The tank weights 5 tons, and is about as tall as a human being, at turret top. The small vehicle can provide armoured support to infantry, having defense up to 12.7mm bullets and shrapnel on all sides and the top(except for sensitive parts on turret). Whether used with paratroopers or mechanized infantry, these cheap vehicles can destroy tanks fairly easily with the Trigat LR missile, while being very hard to hit.

Sales are open, and the price will be 500,000 dollars for one, including the computer for the operator. Transmitters can be bought for 80,000 a piece. There is a turret version with a 20mm cannon that is 600,000 dollars, and has a larger back hull, though overall height isnt increased. Chellis has ordered 300,000 for 150 billion dollars, plus transmitters, etc, making the total purcase equal 200 billion."

Kaeya Misho, Chellian Foreign Minister.

(OOC: Not a bad concept but I'd consider a different missile, HOT 3 is wire guided which means you can't shoot on the move. LOSAT might be worth looking into, or perhaps replace the missile idea entirely and just go with a recoilless cannon.)

OoC: I'd include some back-up system to controll the gun manualy, just in case the transmitter gets shot, destroyed or enemy jamming overcomes the signal.

That and replace the missile, the wire-guided version sounds like a bad idea.

If the enemy jams your ability to control the vehicle then it's dead in the water, so to speak, and if your forces are then pushed back you've left your enemy a fully functioning vehicle that they can use, no hassle. Course you'd get that problem anyway if they jammed the signal but you still can't have a crew waiting around in case these things get jammed.
Kinda defeats the purpose.

If you replace the HOT 3 with something akin to the Javalin you could shoot and move, thus increasing the odds of your vehicle surviving an engagement.

Well, for the weapon, we will be switching to the Trigat LR. A recoilless weapon wouldn't have the penetration we want, and LOSAT looks like it wouldnt work with our turret.

As for jamming, we realize thats a possibility. We use countermeasures against that, and attempt to stay in control of the vehicles. The vehicles require both the operating systems and the codes for each individual tank, so being taken over by someone else is highly unlikely. There is no room for a human to control it, so manual control isnt an option.

The transmitters will be up to 20km away, and mobile, so its hard to believe they will be destroyed. We usually have multiple ones in an engagement area, too.

These vehicles are expendable, in comparison to say MBT's. 20 MBT's would be hard-pressed to destroy 20 of these in a desert setting, or a tundra, or what have you. Low profile, low visibility, long range attacking vehicles. Even if the enemy destroys the vehicles, you probably take out some of theirs, and justify the costs. The transmitter can switch frequencies, and worst case scenario, they can be attaches to wires to a transmitter, and stay in an area for defense.

Do you have any pictures of this vehicle?

Hehe!

It's a little too cheap, but otherwise ok... if you like that kind of thing.

I drew a few concept pictures, but I have none online...

Think of an M113a1, except very small, and a turret.
