New line of law enforcement systems released!

The Department of Punishment today made it known that the Imperial Guard (Doomingsland’s militia/police force) has been secretly undergoing a major upgrade in equipment. Two new items were disclosed, a new sub machinegun and a new uniform, both optimized for urban combat.

M85IG SubMachineGun

The M85IG is the Imperial Guard’s version of the M85, just now entering service in the military. The M85IG is a blowback operated, selective fire weapon. It is fed from 50-rounds box magazines, made from transluscent polymer. The magazine is being located above the barrel, with the cartridges being aligned at 90 degrees to the barrel axis. Each magazine has built-in ramp that rotates cartridge to align it with the barrel prior to chambering it. The IG version features a variety of non-lethal systems in addition to its primary fire modes. It fires a 5.56x33mm cartridge, optimized for the horizontal magazine found on the weapon. The 5.56x33mm was designed to replace the 5.7x28mm found on the P90. It allows for a greater effective range and better knock-down power, but with only slightly more recoil. In addition to this, a 20mm electronically fired non-lethal systems launcher, the M325 is found underneath the barrel. This weapon is electronically fired, meaning multiple rounds can be stacked in front of one another and fired via electricity (similar to MetalStorm). This weapon allows for ring air foil rounds, tear gas rounds, net rounds, and sticky shocker rounds to be fired at suspects. Up to 4 of each round can be loaded at a time. A high powered strobe laser is mounted on the side of the weapon, designed to blind, disorientate, and incapacitate a suspect is also included. The close range feature of the M85IG is a stun prod, protruding from in between the barrel and M325. It is designed for an officer to smash a suspect with the weapon, stunning him with electricity. This is especially useful in controlling a non-cooperating suspect under arrest. Finally, a taser is built into the weapon for incapacitating suspects via shocking him/her with electricity emitted from the two barbs that are fired at them.

It also features a 2x red dot scope with a built in gun camera for firing from behind cover in conjunction with the IGUACS Gear.

Caliber: 5.56x33mm
Weight: 3.5 kg with 50rd magazine
Length: 510 mm
Barrel length: 270 mm
Rate of fire: 900 rounds per minute
Magazine capacity: 50 rounds
Effective range: 250 meters
Cost per unit: $1200

Imperial Guard Urban Assault Combat System (IGUACS)

The IGUACS is a new landwarrior-type system optimized for law enforcement use. The suit features a helmet mounted HUD system and processor, and a helmet mounted air filtration system in the event of a terrorist bio attack. The HUD of the IGUACS is designed to work in conjunction of the gun camera on the M85IG. In addition to this, it displays the location of other officers in the city or county via a GPS locater, allowing for officers to quickly and easily coordinate their efforts to enforce the law. It has a built in communications system, allowing for the wearer to communicate with fellow officers. The armor of the IGUACS is a level IV Kevlar vest with ceramic inserts. The helmet is also level IV protection. Kevlar leggings, greaves, and arm pads are also included. The system is also designed to detect the identification chips found under the scalp of every Doomingslandian citizen. When an officer looks at a citizen, the HUD projects that citizen’s name, ID code, and any criminal record. An uplink to the Doomingsland Global Security Network allows for an officer to get a background check of that particular citizen instantly. The uplink to the Global Security Net allows for commanding officers to effectively carry out and plan operations with increased potency.

Cost per unit: $40,000

ooc: Seems a little light to me. The battery pack for the prod and taser would take up a lot of space, and add considerable weight to the machine. Add the grenade launcher and your current numbers seem impossible. That is not even mentioning the gun camera. Most modern Submachine guns are inbetween 2.0-3.0 kgs empty. With a fifty round clip and those additions I feel that 3.5 is highly implausible, that is only a 2-3 pound difference.
