Freighter Luna, North Atlantic, near port Exmouth.

The day began to end with the sun dropping below the horizon, the bridge empty for one person; the first mate.

"Jackson, are you done yet with the bolts on containers one and four?" The man talked into his walkie-talkie as he used his other hand to correct the course of the gigantic freighter towards the port of Exmouth.
"Brother, your rushing me." The reply came, rather calm. "Don't rush me, if I destroy the karma of the bolts then the plan will fail...you understand me, brother?"

"Jackson, your talking shit. Just hurry up with the locks and get back here."
The first mate put the walkie talkie back onto the top of the control panel and continued to steer towards the port. Meanwhile one of the few sailors aboard the ship; Jackson was done fixing one of the bolts that held the main cover plate in place above the launch tubes.

Two houres out from Exmouth.

The first mate once again reached for the panel, this time for the radio to contact Exmouth harbour control. "Harbour control Exmouth, this is the British freighter Luna, on our way towards Exmouth from New York, we are requesting current weather data before we attempt to dock."

OoC: McLeod and I agreed to this, he bombs my colonies, I bomb his homeland and then we can go beat the shit out of each other later.

"British freighter Luna. Please hold whilst I check your documents" came the reply from a bored sounding Border Patrol officer. A few minutes later, he came back "Luna, you are cleared into the harbour. You have two hours till the tide turns. Winds calm, currents normal. Be advised there is a storm warning for this evening, but otherwise all seems clear. Have a nice stay"

OoC: I'm assuming that there are military vessles and the likes here and I'm using a few bunker busters on your naval HQ.

IC:

"Thank your Harbour Controll, see you there." The first mate of the Luna did his job as he set the controlls for the ship on auto-pilot and marked the position with the onboard GPS system for detonation.

Now it was time to play their respective roles as most of the crew moved down to the hold and started preparing the missile tubes and mine racks for deployment. Meanwhile the GPS system counted down, cold and very unfriendly as most men stared at the large blocks of C4 and other charges set around the ship. 3...2...1...position reached. They where in range of both the enemy naval vessles and in a position to block the port, a claxon sounded.

At that Jackson flipped the switch down in the hold, the first detonation blew the deck covers off and large part of the double hull. Another flipped switch later and a hundred Sunburn anti-ship missiles streamed out of the blown cargo covers and container hatches. The system reloaded itself once and spit out another 70 Sunburn missiles as the other thirty launch tubes where packed with cruise missiles tipped for building and bunker destruction.

The third switch saw the opening of entire sections of the hull, water rushed in as the mines where dropped into the deep and their simple targetting computers began setting out a patren around where the wreck would be.

At the last once all missiles had been launched Jackson retrieved a key hanging from a chain on his neck. He inserted into the panel, turned it and toggeld the switch for phase four; the detonation of all scuttle charges and the death of this crew.

A click and a flash of light later and it was all over for the crew of the Luna

The last thing that was sent towards Exmouth Harbour Controll was an message by the first mate; "Exmouth, *static* small fire in the engine compartiment *static* now *static* military *static* hardware destined *static*

OoC: That makes for the 170 Sunburn ASM's at your ships and around 30 Tomahawks tipped with bunkerbusting warhead at your naval HQ.

The mines will achor themselves in the passage, they are fairly intelligent and will be able to keep depth and position. The crates with the waste will begin leaking right away.

OOC: One CBG, Two CPGs, a few Border Patrol Vessels. Unlike some, I spread my ships over a wide area. The Naval HQ is in the middle of the city itself, quite an old building set in some grounds, but 30 bunker busters will be overkill.

IC:

The explosion rattled the windows of the Harbour Master's office, causing the bored operator to drop his radio in surprise. He slowly stood and watched with horror as hundreds of huge Sunburn missiles and smaller cruise missiles lifted into the sky on plumes of fire. It seemed miles away, but the missiles moved too fast, and there were simply too many off them. The two Border Patrol craft in the middle of the bay were overwhelmed, destroyed before they could even react to the missile launches. Other ships were more lucky, managing to activate defense systems to try and destroy the inbounds.

From the Royal Navy dockyards behind the Office, the deadly ACIWS on board the ships of the fleet opened up, firing hundreds of short ranged CISAM-28 Adder radar guided missiles and thousands upon thousands of rounds from the MetalStorm systems mounted along the deck. But it was too little too late. The systems were overwhelmed, and more than a third of the ships in the harbour were hit. The missiles tore huge holes in the decks and superstructures, causing devastating damage to any ship hit. The Ocean class carrier was hit with fully ten Sunburns, fires raging throughout her decks before the fires found the armoury, and she blew herself out of the water, her hull nearly breaking in two. Her escorts were burning too, as was one of the aviation cruisers. Smoke obscured the harbour, fires roaring, drowning out the screams of the dying and the wails of emergency klaxons.

In the confusion, only two ships managed to engage the relatively slow moving Tomahawk missiles aimed at the Admiralty building. The two River class vessels, designed as heavy hitting Border Patrol cutters, had virtually no hope of taking down thirty cruise missiles, but they opened fire anyway. Their deck guns blasted 5" shells, Adder missiles screamed out of the launcher mounted amidships, and crews even fired rifles and sidearms at the missiles in vain. It was a useless gesture, taking down just five of the missiles before they thundered past and into the distant city.

The missiles slammed into the centre of the city, immolating the old Admiralty building and half of the Naval Command instantly. The additional missles struck civilian buildings in the area, sparking off huge gas-fuelled fires in a nearby shopping centre, and causing the tanks of a petrol station to combust, sending a fireball thousands of feet into the air. Cars and buses were crushed by the over-pressure of the explosion, and pedestrians literally shredded by shards of flying glass.

A muffled 'whumph' reached the Harbour Masters office just seconds later, and yet more smoke rose above the city, blocking out the sun, and casting a hellish glow over the city and the water. Thousands had died this day, and the only clue as to the murderer was the wreckage of the freighter in the middle of the harbour.

OoC: Ah ok, I was assuming it was more of a complex then a single building, otherwise I'd have cut the tomahawks to half their number or maybe even a third.

Otherwise I'd say I'm quite impressed by the effectiveness of the my Pandora's Box ships, you'll have to deal with the mines and the polution but that will just take time.

The small remote guided UUV hunted through the murky waters, it sensors easily detecting the minefield as its two brother drones worked a search pattern, and within just five hours, they had plotted the positions of most of the mines. Another UUV had already found the wreckage of the freighter, and having ascertained that no evidence coul dbe gathered from it, marked it for destruction.

The next step was to elimante the minefield as quickly as possible, so that clean-up crwes could begin to clean up the mass of chemical waste that had massacred thousands of wild creatures, leaving carcasses washing up for miles. Fires still burned in the middle of the dockyards, and the hulk of the Ocean super-carrier sat half submerged, burnt skeletons of aircraft barely visible around her. Smoke also drifted from the middle of the city, despite the two days that had passed since the terrorist attack. Fortunately, the sea here was too cold for swimming, so no one had been affected by teh chemical waste other than a few fishermen, most of whom were treated at the overwhelmed local hospitals.

Having marked the last of the mines, the UUVs withdrew back to their carrier vehicles more than a mile away. A low rumble could be heard across the bay, and four Border Patrol Nimrods swept gracefully down the river before crossing over the minefield, each dropping parachute-retarded depth charges into the water around the minefield and the wreckage. After a matter of seconds, the charges detonated, and the ocean leapt, white foam reaching hundreds of feet into the air. When the waters had calmed, the UUVs were deployed to mark any survivng parts of the wreckage, and any survivng mines. By the end of the day, the harbour would be open, and life could continue as normal.
