After many, many years of research (OOC:So many in fact that the thread announcing it died with the old board), ArmTech Defense industries is proud to present the Retribution class of warship.

The class measures around 4500 feet, armed with around 60 rail-gun Anti-Fighter systems, 4 mounted Heavy Anti-Ship Cannons, as well as a full complement of missile systems. Making use of new technology, the class runs both a FTL drive producing capabilities similar to Trans-warp but only over short distances and a standard hyper drive unit for long range flights.
The class also has 3 fighter bays which house 4 squadrons (or a Wing) of the new Viper Mk IIs, and a squadron of Raptor Controllers.
The Retribution class came into service with the Wintrees Fleet early this month, with the H.M.S Eclipse, H.M.S Eagle and H.M.S Endeavor being the 1st batch to be cleared for active service, replacing their older star stream namesakes. It is planned to have a total of 40 retribution class warships deployed to the fleet, making them the 2nd most numerous ship, after the corvette class.
In addition to these changes, the Viper series of ships that were stationed on the star stream class are being retired and replaced by Viper Mk IIs which will become the main Naval fighter throughout the fleet, with the -Wing series of ships being transferred to Air Force units on among the colonies.
The vipers have an effective range of 2000 miles from the base in normal circumstances, but can be increased with the use of strap-on FLT drives and Raptor fuel modules. They carry 2 pulse cannons and a rack of either 2 anti-ship missles, or 40 Anti-Fighter rockets in the form of 2 rocket-pods.

Due to the labour requirments of the Retribution class, we will only be selling the Viper Mk IIs to foreign groups for the moment, base cost for each fighter runs to around £15 million each.
