Kriminallager XXIV, Red Jungle, Aequatius Secundus

Sergeant Gearing and Corporal Anderson stepped out of their barracks to catch a few moments for a cigarette and a quiet conversation, Anderson turned to Gearing just as he had lit his cigarette and taken a drag, "So, Sarge, what made you decide to request a posting here in one of the criminal camps instead of one of the active divisions?"

"Well, I wanted to serve my country... and since there hasn't been a conflict in so long... I figured I'd see more action here, you know, since prisoners love to make escape attempts and all," replied the sergeant as he handed Anderson his lighter back.

"I know what you mean... but how can you stand to even breath the same air as these traitors?" Asked the young corporal.

"To be honest, I really can't," Gearing took a drag off his cigarette and pointed to a group of prisoners being shackled for work outside the razor-wire fence, "You know, if it was up to me... I'd just shoot them all, one bullet to the gut so they'd bleed to death. That way they suffer and we don't have to waste money."

Both men laughed and walked off towards the guardhouse at the entrance of the camp, it was their shift to keep watch and process the prisoners heading out for work. Gearing set his rifle down so it was leaning against the side of the building as Anderson checked the machinegun in the forward sandbag bunker.

"You know something, Sarge, why don't we just take one of those work groups and just take them out into the jungle and kill them all?" asked the corporal as he laid back against the sandbags and finished off his cigarette, "I mean, we could gag them so they wouldn't scream when we shot them... then just tied them down to a tree's roots."

Gearing paused to think for a moment before tossing his cigarette into the underbrush, "You know what, that's a good idea."

"Then let's do it... put us in for a patrol and we can pull it off," said Anderson, "Nobodies going to miss these pieces of shit anyway."

"Sounds good," replied the sergeant and both men laughed as they returned to their duties.
