Bunnying - aka Godmod's aging grandfather

I just wanted to point out that in this forum with so many complaints about Godmodding, we seem to have forgotten the older, less extreme term of Bunnying.

This is used more often in Character RP's which don't have fighting, so it's not so much a question of "cheating" (which gets people all incensed and stuff) as being a bit rude, although it was used for the same things as godmodding at one point.

An example of a bunny is: you're in another persons territory and you say "My character sees [this object] on your table", if it hasn't been previously stated that whatever it is has been placed upon a table. or whatever.

Basically bunnying is any kind of assumption about things beyond your character's control. In a fight this is important because it's really annoying when someone hits you with a chair which isn't there, but even without a fight, people are expected to stick to the description provided by whoever's in charge of the place the characters are in.

With application to the kind of RP we have here, the reason I want this term to come back into use is that you cannot scream "godmod" when someone's character tells you that your guards are having a quick ciggy behind the topiary bush if it doesn't actually hurt your chances of whatever. Maybe it's just that your guards have a strict punishment for smoking, or it's been outlawed, or maybe you just haven't got any topiary bushes - but whatever.

It's all for the sake of continuity and image rather than conferring an advantage on any one player.

So what say we re-introduce the term "bunny"? Let me know what you think, because it's cute and much less hostile than OMG U GODMOD!!!1!

Then I guess that 'rabbiting' is a variant on bunnying.

What is rabbiting?

We all live, work and play in different time zones, have different wake/sleep, school schedules, and ability to be or not be on line...

So we can't always post an hour ( much less the second )after another player does...

but some players get impatient and don't give the other player or players a chance to respond - and it is particularly aggravating when it has been posted that player x may not be able to post that day...

rabbiting is just as rude as playing with the scenery with out permission
