Norris Land
17-01-2005, 04:32
A man dressed in average looking clothing leans nervously against an ally wall, the only light being from the street 10 yards away. On the ground beside him sits a large duffle bag, the fate of hundreds, thousands of innocent lives concealed inside.
Almost missing her 5 a.m. flight, a businesswoman rushes down the long corridor to the entrance of the large jet. She knocks over a man also walking towards the same plane, and he drops a large bag, looked to be packed to the brink. They board the plane, the aircraft taxis to the runway, and after getting permission from air-traffic control, takes flight. The woman makes a phone call to her family to tell them that she is on her way home. At the same time a man a few rows back also makes a phone call...
The man in the all reaches in his pocket to answer his phone. A voice on the other end says "Do it...and good luck, my friend." 7 simple words to put a long awaited plan into action. He puts the phone back in his pocket and walks towards a ladder with his duffle bag. He climbs the old rusty ladder, which leads to the top of a small laundromat. A police officer getting a donut and some coffee in the shop across the street spots him on the roof. He drops his coffee and walks towards the laundromat, while shouting "YOU! Stop!" The man turned to see the officer, but didn't reply. He turns his attention to the dark, early morning sky, where a large jet roars just after takeoff. He rips open the bag, and reveals a missile launcher. Loaded inside is an EMP missile, capable of frying any electrical equipment on impact. By this time, the officer was to the top of the ladder, and realized what was happening. He pulled his pistol and fired on the man, hitting him once. The terrorist staggered, but managed to hold his weapons sites to the jet, and pulled the trigger...
"We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring you this breaking news bulletin..."
Good morning ladies and gentlemen. The NJNN (Norris James News Network) has just recieved confirmed reports that there has been an attack, possibly a terrorist, in Norris Land. We will soon take you live to the city of Unionville, where a plane was shot down around 5:45 this morning, just after taking off from Unionville Municipal Airport. Authorities say that it was an EMP missile shot by a man standing on the rooftop of a laundromat. The plane went down, and slammed into the side of an 8 story office building in the downtown district. The man they have in custody is the terrorist that shot the missile at the jet, and they will question him to find out if he is alone or part of a terrorist group. The Norris Land Department of Weapons Research and Development says the EMP Missile was possibly the one missing from an armored van robbery last month. We are now going to the seen of the tragedy in Unionville...
Mr. Norris, the Prime Minister of Norris Land, turned away from the t.v. as black smoke is seen rising from the office building struck by the plane.
"How could this have happened..." he thought to himself. A few men walked through the door.
"Sir, your car is ready."
"Good, we're going to Unionville."
(Back to the t.v.) ...the question now is who is responsible for the attack. Authorities have a long road ahead of them. Hopefully the captured suspect can provide useful information. In the meantime, full fledged investigations will go underway...
Meanwhile, groups of people are pouring into a hospital in Unionville, seeking treatment from injuries sustained in the accident. Many, almost all of them, are coughing heavily. A nurse walks into the waiting room with a paper in her hand and whispers into the ear of a doctor. His expression turns from looking worn out to complete shock.
"ALL of them?"
"Yes, doctor."
"Ok, take care of him, I have to make a phone call..."
She hands him the paper and he walks through a door in the back. He dials the number of the local authorities and asks for the chief of police.
"It's an emergency, I need to speak to him straight away!"
"Calm down sir, I'm connecting you to him now."
The phone rings again...
"Chief William here."
"Mr. William sir, I am Doctor Davidson from the Union Medical Center, and I'm afraid there is more to this accident than what is known."
"What are you saying, Mr. Davidson?"
"Sir, we tested a group of patients this morning from the tower, and they all have been in contact with anthrax."
Chief William dropped the phone, and stared out of his cruiser window, where hundreds of firefighters, paramedics, and other officers help the thousands of people escape the building and the surrounding offices.
"All of them...but how?" he says quietly to himself.
Reports of the anthrax soon air on the news, and a man sitting a the airport, his flight cancelled, remembers seeing a strange man board that plane that crashed. He dropped a package out of his bag when a lady knocked him over. It was filled with a strange looking, powder like stuff. The man ran off too quickly, so he had just thrown it away. He got up, curiously, and walked over to the trash can. There it was, the bag the man had dropped. He took it to the airport security desk.
"I wonder..." he thought.
The Prime Minister's car is stopped at the entrance to the city. A police officer tells the driver about the anthrax, and the city-wide evactuation.
"Take me to the radio station."
"But sir,.."
"Just do it."
At the radio station, Prime Minister Norris gives a speech on the air, giving reassurance to the people of Norris Land that the lives lost will be avenged, and that "Unionville will get everything it needs."
After the speech has been given, they begin to escort the Prime Minister out to the car, with a gas mask. They pass the news room, where a man is heard speaking on the air:
"And it has been confirmed that a man had luggage packed full of anthrax onboard the plane, which spread through the downtown area after the plane hit the office building early this morning..."
We will avenge all those people...they will not be forgotten! The Prime Minister thought as he left the building.
