The Game's Afoot II (Africa RP - OPEN)
Thick plumes of dust rose into the air, almost obscuring from sight the columns of armored vehicles moving along the desert road. Their presence was almost jarring against the silent, almost tranquil landscape.
It was a scene being repeated all across Eredron's African states. Nearly a quarter of the Eredron Expeditionary Force was being moved south, with more standing by.
Within a matter of days, the Botswana/Namibia - South African border would be filled with makeshift bases; already, troops were arriving via rail for what was being dubbed a routine military deployment.

Tag, if this is going were I think its going you just ruined my African plans. O FYI, Zarbs signed over his colonies to me so were neighbors if you didn't know.
OOC: I will accept that for any colonies that Zarbia claimed that were recognized in either of the RL Nation Claims thread,
"Convoy Six-Six-Three you are cleared through Checkpoint Harry." From his booth, the soldier waved on the line of trucks, then made the proper notation on his notepad.
Nine different roads lead to the South-West-3 encampment, and he was tasked with ensuring the trucks coming in didn't get caught in a jam or stop the flow of supplies.
Meanwhile, overhead flew a dazzlingly white and blue UAV, whose cameras proved central command a birds eye view of the situation. Ground troops, artillery, ammunition, hundreds of gallons of water and supplies; the amount of equipment being deposited was almost staggering; certainly not the largest logistics operation made by Eredron, or any nation in the world, but still, the amount of supplies consumed by any army was considerable.

OOC: what tech level is this, and will you ignore a nation with no territory claims, just an imaginary (real in NS) island in the middle of the atlantic.

OOC: Modern Tech. No, I do not ignore anyone whose nation is not based off any RL country. My own nation Eredron is 'imaginary'. I just try to respect those players who have claims to RL nations by going by the RL Nations Claim.

OOC: Which is why I like Eredron so much ^_^

"So what's this all about?"
"I could tell you, but then I'd -"
"You'd be wearing a higher rank on your sleeve than that, if you knew what was up."
"Yeah? Well I heard the Colonel telling his wife he'd be deployed for at least another six months."
"Six months? I thought we were rotating back home in a couple weeks?"
"We were. Then something came up. I know a guy whose buddies with someone on the general's staff. He said something big's going on with South Africa. And it's not just that. Says there's a whole lot of planning going on. Says not to get to get your hopes up about going home."
"And I says you're full of it, as usual."
"We'll see."
Twelve hours short of one week, word was sent reporting the readiness of the Eredron Excursion Force: 210,000 ground personnel, 250 M-1A2E Abrams, 300 M-3 Bradleys, 200 M-11A3 APCs, 50 Paladin howitzers, and hundreds of support helicopters and vehicles(that's the extent of my "numberwanking, I promise :) ).
Deeper into Botswana and Namibia, F-22E Firehawks and F-35s had been deployed to southern airfields in preparation.
Little effort was being exerted to maintain the pretense of a military exercise; as the carrier group Intrepid put out to sea from Namibia, artillery was moved up to the border, SAMs were stationed around key positions, and the men waited.
So, eredron's on the warpath again... Crazy bastards. Everything was nice and cozy in africa, and he has to create waves. Declare war on him? A bit rash... I do owe Sniper Country, though...

Mozambique-South Africa border
A number of trucks begin crossing the heavily militarized border of southern mobica, into South africa. Tarps are above all the vehicles except the trucks, which pull most of the vehicles, and carry loads of ammunition and guns in them. Wire-communications between the provisional south african government and the chellian command centre in Mozambique gave the Afrikaneers 200 Tropical Leclercs, 200 AMX-30RC's, 300 VAB's with Milan, over 40,000 small arms with ammunition, and 800 Fim-92 Stinger's.
Secrecy was key. Chellis didn't want actual warfare with Eredron. The only trainers were mozambique natives who worked in the military, to arouse less suspicion. The equipment didn't have the Chellian symbol engraved into it, which most chellian equipment did. These africans probably wouldn't make great use of the equipment...But it might have been enough to make Eredron decide not to advance in, if the africans could do some damage.

Somewhere on the coast of Namibia, 0100 hours.
"Splash 5, we are 500 out from the coast. Go Yellow." cracked the radio,
"Splash 5, we are 250 out from the coast. Go Green." cracked the radio again.
"Splash Lead, confirmed, going Green." replied the pilot, hitting the switch on the console to the left of the cockpit.
"Major! Your clear!" shouted the loadmaster in the back of the transport.
"CLEAR. GO GO GO!" shouted the major over the whine of the engines.
Within 20 seconds, all 11 of the soldiers were out of the door and into the dark water, the Major quickly followed.
"Splash 4 this is lead, commence fly-by on beachhead."
"Splash 4, errr got that lead, going hot on the cameras."
Splash 4 flew about 100m over the crashing waves on the coast of Namibia. When it got about 50 miles from the coast it engaged its afterburners and pulled up, nearly vertically... At the same time its camera went into overload taking long range pictures of the beachhead. It then..
"Splash lead, this is 4, mission complete, getting the hell out of dodge."
--
Major Wills dragged himself out of the water onto the beach, he quickly pulled his rifle out of its protective drag bag and uncovered the sights, scanning the beach. Lying half-way out of the water he removed his command and control device and inspected the pictures of the beach taken by Splash 4.
He took about 2 minutes to match the landmarks to that of the picture, confirmed his position and that there were no visible enemy forces. He then reached down to his chest and clicked his comm-link on.
"Ok, looks clear.. red 2 move them up to the cliffs."
"Got that 1, moving."
The rest of the soldiers appeared out of the water about 50m behind Wills, removing their respirators as they moved swiftly over the open beach to the cliffs.
Wills switched his comm-link to another channel..
"Ops, this is Red Leader. We have hit the sand. All clear. over"
"Comfirmed Red Leader, make contact as planned. OUT"
OOC: Botswana has no beach. It is landlocked. Were you meaning to type Namibia? Or South Africa?
Thousands of miles away and moments after having sat down from his response to one of the delegates, word was given to Consul Fariz that everything had gone as scheduled; however, several governments had become increasingly nosey regarding the military buildup.
As the Merchant Guilds delegate made his response, the Consul scribbled a short note down.
Step up local defense forces, send in Stalwart and Liberty.
Two hours later, both carrier groups were enroute from Mauritius, and the militia forces of Namibia and Botswana had been ordered into a partial mobilization.
Satelite Ersatz, above chellian Botswana
Slanted photo's shone down upon southern Botswana, sending high-quality pictures to chellian high command within moments of taking them.
Chellian High Command, Zimbabwe
The chellian satelite confirmed what the intelligence of Chellis already knew. Eredron was preparing an invasion. Every response had negative reprocussions for Chellis. It would just have to work on the fly.

OOC: Thanks, I've corrected it, for future reference, "Random maps off google image = Not reliable information sources" :)
