After ensuring control over the government of Angola, military forces are split into two forces North and South of the borders with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. These forces seem to be poised to unite the areas between Cabinda(north) and Soyo(south).

Message to leader of the Democratic Republic of the Congo(Zaire)(Slaytanicca):

Your lands west of the Congo River between Cabinda,Angola and Soyo,Angola shall be turned over to the government of Angola or your nation will face invasion of this land and eventually the entirety of your nation.

We laugh at your threats. Our proud and strong people will not bow to such despicable imperialism. Any Angolan troops on Colgolese soil will be treated as aggressors, and any such aggression will invoke the full might of the Congolese military on your pitiful nation. If you value the lives of your people you will fully withdraw your threats and issue us an unequivocable apology and appropriate compensation.

Very well, your stupidity shall be the downfall of your nation. The Angoland Armies are much better trained than the best of your military. Let this be remebered as the begining of the end of your dictatorial reign over this nation.

80,000 Angolan troops stationed on the borders begin their march into the DRof the Congo, meeting little resistance until both forces reach the outskirts of the city of Banana, on the South Atlantic coast.

Five thousand men, as well as twenty thousand reserves have been mobilised to defend Banana, setting up roadblocks and patrols. Artillery has begun shelling of Angolan positions, although success has been limited by accuracy.

"IThere's Civilians left there..."

The Lord commander turned to his Lieutenant. "Dispatch all 9 Boulders and all 6 Eagles to evacuate the civilians left behind. (Max capacity of all of those is 3450). Send 90 Hellhound Air/Space fighters for protection. Bring the civies to the Devastator. Tell them to take as many trips as needed to get the civilians out of there, no mater what the situation. Purely defensive, understand?"

The Lord Commander activated his comms and notified the Angolians:
"Do not fire upon the incoming Boulder, EAgle, and Hellhound craft. They are evacuating civilans. If you attack them, We will attack you. Lord Commander Andon Aiseat, ISF, OUt." With that he cut the transmission, and sat in his chair, going over the logistics of the strikeforce that may or may not be needed.

Namibia-Angola Border

The ground began to rumble. The usually light defenses of the area (1 Legion, approx 14,000 men) were bolstered by an additional two of the forces, complete with heavy armor and artillery. Aircraft operated from towns a bit farther behind the lines. The Namibians had seen such things before. The 20th century was rife with conflict as South African forces clashed with Soviets and Communists in Angola. And it may have turned that way again.

Peekay Van Morrison put down the securephone at his headquarters in Windhoek. The Navy had finally capitulated to his demands for an SBG and CBF in the area, but the Air Force refused to put its precious bombers outside of South Africa. It was not quite the time to make sure the attack would be perfect, but it would have been a comfort.

Meanwhile, a special forces team, fresh out of the Drakensbergs, found its leave had been canceled. There would be no telegrams written, the UCSNE had to test its neighbors and let them come to their own conclusion.

As soon as both broadcasts were finished, 15 huge ships landed in whatever spots they could. 90 aircraft kept patrol around these ships, not engaging anyone but those attacking the ships.

Each ship turned on it's loudspeakers. A voice blared from them. "All Noncombatants who wish to be evacuate, come to the following locations in an ORDERLY MANNER!" He gave the locations. "We have capacity for 3450 people at a time, but we will not leave anyone behind. We will make as many trips as nesicary."

As soon as a ship was loaded to caacity it took off with it's contingent of Hellhound fighters and went to the ISF Devastator, unloaded it's passengers, and returned for more

Three thousand men died in the initial engagement, and after a further thousand were slain in the large-scale routs, largely of the poorly trained reservists, which ensued the majority of the force surrendered. The Congolese had been totally hopeless in reducing Angolan air superiority, due to their small number of old fighters and ineffectual AA batteries. Furthermore, the only weapons they had in cobatting Angolan tanks were a handful of Chinese T-82s, and shoulder-mounted rockets which the men were ill trained in the use of. Banana had fallen, and at great cost to the Congolese.

After achieving a great victory at the Battle of Banana, with few casualties and inflicting a crushing defeat on the Congolese, Angolan forces move in on the cities of Boma and Matadi, on the Congo River, resistance in these areas are unknown but expected not to pose a great threat and Angolan generals plan their movement on the capital of Kinshasa.

Prisoners taken in the fall of Banana are placed in a convoy North to a prison in Cabinda.

Losses taken in the Battle of Banana:
80 killed
2000 wounded(20 severely wounded,80 moderately severe,1900 minor wounds)
2 tanks

The move was unexpected to the Congolese; they had expected Angola to move on one of the cities but not both. Saying this their defense was as adequate as could be expected given their numerical and technological disadvantage. The force marching on Boma was met by four thousand regulars and ten thousand reserves coming from the direction of the city; the force on Matadi was met by three thousand and eight thousand reserves, plus a further two thousand and five thousand reserves from further along the border, on a different flank. Air support was again next to non-existant.
SovietRepublicofRussia
17-01-2005, 02:19
Aircraft again was sent North to support the forcesattacking the cities. 80 T-72 tanks were sent accross the Congo River with 10,000 men to out-flank the cities.

The army in the North being split into 3 forces engaged the 2 cities and the border guard force, engages along with the aircraft and the forces sent over the river from Angola.

North of Malanje 20,000 men, 60 T-55s,30 T-72s,30 Mig-29s,and 15 Mig-35s were sent North over the border with Zaire towards the city of Tshikapa.

The Angolan Mirages inflicted woeful casualties, the Congolese lacking heavily in air defense or AA support. This being said, the infantry were having far more luck in holding the tanks back in the enclosed environments of the cities. In total, around fifteen hundred troops and five thousand civilians had been killed or wounded in the air strikes, a further thousand soldiers in the vicious fighting to keep the tanks from making progress in the cities. Blockades of cars, many boobytrapped, had been set up on the outskirts, providing defense in depth. The troops would try to clear or cross the barriers whilst troops fired from buildings and further blockades with AK-47s and a handful of RPGs. Despite the losses, the Congolese looked to be holding their ground.
SovietRepublicofRussia
17-01-2005, 02:52
Seeing as if a continued assult on the cities without the support of the troops being sent North accoss the Congo would result in un-nessisary casualties forces are pulled out of the middle of the cities and awaiting the re-enforcements from the South.

Forces engaging the border guards appear to be going quite well and the opposition force is expected to collapse in short order.

Forces from Angola have just finished crossing the river and plan to arrive on the outskirts of the cities in 10 minutes or so.

Losses in the previous engagment in the Cities:
300 killed
200 severely wounded
150 moderately wounded

A major assault on the South of Boma after heavy bombing breached the defensive line. While the troops still had a minor tactical advantage afforded by the city, as well as several defensive positions inside the city was from that point doomed. After heavy fighting and some two thousand casualties the city was forced into surrender.

Matadi was faring little better; the reinforcements had put dangerous strain on the previously precarious defenses. Knowing a breach was only a matter of time, a large contingent of the force attempted to flee over the Congo. The remainder, realising the city was now undefendable, followed suit..

Meanwhile the forces North of Malanje near the Congolese city of Tshikapa

Casualties in the Battle of Boma and Matadi:

Over a hundred soldiers had made it over the river by the time the Angolans reached them; a further eight hundred were cut down crossing the river, their bullet-ridden bodies bobbing down the waters leaking red tendrils of bood. A few soldiers attempted to fight the Angolans, but most raised their rifles or threw them down in an attempt to surrender.
SovietRepublicofRussia
17-01-2005, 03:44
In the confusion of the kaotic attack on the Congolese, men trying to surrender were cut down with machinegun fire when mistaken as trying to rally an attack, very few made it out of the river alive.....

Troops away from the massacre on the Congo set up field hospitals for Angolan troops and civilians injured in the attack.

Forces from Malanje arrive at Tshikapa, defended by border guards and poorly trained militia , expecting little resistance from the Congolese forces.
Slaytanicca
17-01-2005, 04:04
Defenses were hastily prepared for the siege on Tshikapa; no-one wanted a repeat of the incidents to the West. Meanwhile, however, a great discontent was surging through the people. Civilian casualties in the taking of the cities had been high, and rather than blaming the aggressors, many were pointing the finger at the ineptitude of the dictatorship and its military. Several groups had sprung up, and a few skirmishes had actually occured with Congolese military. If this continued the rulership would have no choice but to declare martial law.

Lumumba exited the small building with a grave look on his face, but with strength in his expression. Part of him felt shame for his actions. A large part. Yet he knew he had done a great thing. His men were safe, safe and free. He watched with a strange detatchment as the armed guards saluted him. A group of soldiers pushed past him, then, seemingly seconds later again, this time whooping and laughing. They bore the head of the general, the blood of the exit wound still fresh and running from his hair.

The news of the revolt reached Tsikapa, where the army, already deeply unnerved by the now rioting populace and demoralised by this new development, quickly gave the city to the assailants, some surrendering and some attempting to flee. The situation was very different in the capitol; many factions were fiercely loyal to the dictator, and kept the army and civilians in check. Defensive arrangements were similar to those in Boma; however, although loyalties and training were higher than that of the doomed city, moral was certainly lower. The men knew they would lose; many were thinking of salvaging any chance they could to survive.
