Odama Johan stepped into a large boardroom occupying a long table, eight AK-47 armed soldiers, and twelve suited men sitting at the table. All was silent, and all were sweating. Not because it was warm, but because of fear of the eight soldiers standing behind them. Odama sat down, no one making a sound. He layed down a stack of papers on the fine oak table. He began speaking.
"Welcome, gentlemen. My name is Odama Johan, but you will only call me El Presidente. Failure to do so will get you killed. Now, currently the Dominican Republic is what you call a "democracy." I don't really like that word, so what I ask you today is simple: do you have any objections to me appointing myself... Dictator?"
At first, no one said a word. Then, a skinny, dark man began shakingly speaking.
"Are you crazy? You will not get awa--"
One of the armed guards shot him in the head with a pistol.
Everyone gasped, and jumped slightly, but no one dared leave their seats. Everything was silent for a few more moments.
"Anyone else? ... Good. Now, as my first order of business, I am going to invite the political leaders of our neighboring country Haiti for a conference. We will then discuss annexation. Now, this military coup has taken a lot out of me," Odama chuckled, "so that's all for today. Goodbye, gentlemen. Oh, wait, I just remembered something... I'm a dictator. So why do I need you?"
Odama stood and walked out of the room. The second the door closed, screams and gunfire were sounded. But no one would do anything. Everyone was afraid and hiding in their homes. The public display of the "retirement" of the earlier Presidente did it's work.
