Nanking, URoC (AP)- Today, Generalissimo Chaing Kai-Shek has announced that he has signed an agreement with President Nugyen Van Thieu of South Vietnam.
"Mr. Thieu is our man in Vietnam. He is truly a man who is dedicated to fighting the Red Menace, and unlike the Americans who abandoned them, we care about the Vietnamese. We are committed to preserving the freedom of the Vietnamese people, and the native peoples within."
Chaing also called for the deployment of troops to the area.
"I will deploy 250,000 troops to South Vietnam. They will guard the vital cities and installations, especially Saigon, and Da Nang, and train the ARVN, RVNAF, and RVN in combat tactics. Also, we will deploy Special Operations Units to aid the ARVN in taking back the countryside from the Vietcong bandits that have stolen it from the people of South Vietnam. We have also negotiated for the shipment of arms to the ARVN, the RVNAF and the RVN. These shipments will keep them fighting to save themselves."
Chaing reassured skeptics:
"People of China, do not fear. We will not make the same mistakes as the Americans did. We will keep a cool, professional head, and we will not babysit the Vietnamese. We will fight with them, but we wil not do everything for them. Make no mistake, however, we are not misers, we are genuinely seeking to help the Vietnamese rid themselves of the bandits that have ruined their land."

Da Nang (AP)- Today, the first wave of Republican Guard troops landed in Da Nang. Some 50,000 men, echoing the arrival of US Marines in 1965, stormed the beach and took control of Da Nang Marine Base.
"We have begun the first steps in our campaign to help the Vietnamese free themselves from the filth of Communism," said General Kung Du-lin, Newly appouinted head of the Armed Assistance Group Command, Vietnam, or AAGCV.
The arrival of troops coincided with the arrivals of other Chinese forces in Cam Rahn Bay, Saigon proper, Kontum, Hue, and Quang Tri, as well as other places, along with the arrival of a massive shipment of arms via Saigon to the ARVN.

Would I be allowed to send troops to cure your nation of the Marxist plague? If so, just say the word, and I'll send as many troops as your heart desires. Let South Vietnam be the cemetary where Marxism is forever buried! Afterwards, let us re-unite the two Vietnams as one free, anti-communist Vietnam!

Not much else is known, only that in accordance with Chinese operational doctrine, Nationalist Troops will act in concert with and support, but not do all of the fighting for, the ARVN troops, who will do the majority of the ops in the area around Kontum.

Kung smiled. "We can do that. Our collected forces alone are strong enough to ensure this operation can succeed. Add to the fact that my superiors have begun a full scale rearmament program, which ensures we can keep this up, and
we have this in the bag."
Kung then added. "It'll be easy.....the Reds have assembled but 25,000 more men to defend themselves.....a mere drop in the bucket."
"Here is how I see it. Nationalist troops will invade from the North, and will go for the Jugular, Hanoi and Haiphong. We will also coordinate this with B-52 and F-111, and F-105 plus F-4 Wild Weasel, and F-15 Strike Eagle assaults based in China and other such assaults based in the South. Marines will land on the coast, and ARVN plus the RB Coalition storms northward. Any air resistance and we sic the F-4's, F-15's and F-14's on them."

Generalissimo Chaing later got the plan for invasion. He knew that the French had just reinvaded Southeast Asia, and that this may be useful. Also, he had a rearmament program going, and the Republican Guard program paid off, with a massive new body of troops.
Still, his resources were overstretched just a little. With interventions heating up in Angola and the current commitment to Vietnam, things might just turn ugly.
He wrote back to Kung:
"Kung-
Like the plan, but I do ask that you stage some kind of NVA attack, first. We are still fixing things from the Maoist heresy, and the people will want a really good reason to invade North Vietnam. I'll do something on my end as well."
