OOC: My signature has the civil war thread listed. Now I can begin getting involved in international politics again. Though, honestly, that was my first RP, but I think that with the quality of all the posts in it, it was one of the best RPs in NS for awhile.

Thanks everyone!

Oh, and DPUO, I'll post later today. Our thread isn't over yet.

Iova, Lindim

The reporter adjusted her earpiece and tapped it a few times, looking into the camera? "I'm good?" she asked, brushing strands of hair behind her ear.

The boom-carrier shook his head and gestured to his lips.

Embarassed, the reporter pulled out her her mirror and wiped away the smeared makeup. The camera man gave her a thumbs up, saying, "And we... are... live!"

The reporter counted to two, and began speaking. "Outside Iova, capital of the Incorporated Islands of Lindim, the Prime Minister Intry Fuego gave a speech, declaring the civil war over and offering amnesty to almost all of the military that followed the former Intelligence Minister Tre in her rebellion. Fuego was released from the hospital just yesterday after a grueling five days in captivity, where she was interrogated and, almost fatally poisoned. During this period, Commerce Minister Tirrew led the Lindimese loyalists from Tenb, as Iova was held by the Socialists."

The reporter continues to speak as the camera man focuses the camera on the throng of Lindimese who are swarming the stage where Fuego is sitting, and on the streets of the capital where thousands are dancing to music and celebrating against the backdrop of a city where bullet holes riddle walls and the scorching of explosions plaster every wall.

"Fighting has completely stopped, and for Rain Admiral Runad Sero has been charged with treason, and will be tried for conspiring with Tre in the nuclear attack on Azazia by the Estanni Court. The fleets formerly under his control are now led by High Rain Admiral Eskan, who returned from Avios today. The damage that has ben done to the former economic superpower of Lindim is incalculable, though the aWen Corporation alone is pledging a loan of about one trillion dollars to the Lindimese government.

"Tirrew also announced, before he stpped back down, that the Azazians were planning on establishing a long-term diplomatic relationship with the Lindimese. The Azazians entered actual naval combat with the Socialist forces, and assisted in the rescuing of Fuego. In addition, reports have leaked about Pacific Northwestia offering one of the largest aid programs in history, 20% of the rebuilding efforts. Pacific Northwestia was another nation whose soldiers were part of the operation to rescue Fuego.

"No comments have been made about the sudden and complete disappearance of the Linits, who were once responsible for the protection of the Prime Minister and various classified military operations. Linits were rumored to have killed Tre, but General Nuhmi, leader of the Loyalist forces, denies this and says it was a combined effort between Azazia and Lindimese forces.

"Already commentators have speculated this will lead to a new era in Lindim, with a larger government with a more militiristic bent. When told this, Prime Minister Fuego dismissed it say, 'After all that happened, you think we need a stronger military?'

"This is Berenice Bedolla, live from Iova." The reporter waited for three seconds before sighing and taking off her earpiece as the cameraman lowered the camera. "What the hell was that? Who wrote that?"

The boom operator shrugged and started piling the equipment in the van.

Berenice groaned. "I'll be in the hotel bar if anyone needs me. Which, after that piece, that won't!" she said before stomping off.

President Zwimbala was watching the news, and nearly choked. "Fortino promised them what?!?
"20%, Mr. President."
"And who gave him that authority?"
"You did, Mr. President."
"Oh well... if we take it back now, nobody will ever trust us again. You'd think that wouldn't be a problem, considering the sacrifices our men and women in uniform have made. We may as well roll with it."
"Yes, Mr. President."
"Make sure word gets around. If we're going to be decimating our budget for them, we had better get credit for it."
"Of course, Mr. President."

Fortino watched the report, suddenly worried. His only comfort lay in the fact that he could never be fired now, because of what he had done here. And it would be worth it. Better to have a capable ally than cash.
