After months of heated debate, the opposition Liberal Party has finally gotten its wish. Kaiserine Yuna put forth legislation today calling for a vote to be held on allowing homosexual marriage.

Homosexual marriage has been a hot topic in Sevaris for quite some time- Alec Mannerheim's government absolutely refused to legalise it, much to the disdain of the liberals. But, today, they have scored a minor victory.

RSI managed to reach the former Kaiser, Alec Mannerheim, for comment.

"Well, I really don't agree with this to be honest. However, I will admit that it has been an issue for some time- hopefully we can resolve this and get on with our lives."

The referendum has been scheduled for three weeks' time.

The networks made the intelligent choice, however, of showing it late at night with the other explicit material, of which there was an extreme amount.

While Iuthia itself isn't into this whole "Democracy" business, we are pleased to see the leaders of Sevaris taking their peoples views into concideration when looking at the matter of civil freedoms in reguard to sexuality and marriage. Such respect for your people shows maturity in your leadership, that while you yourself don't agree with Homosexual Marriage, you are willing to let your people make the choice as to how the law should treat it.

In anycase we are impressed by such a move and we feel it's a step in the right direction. Iuthia itself is much more open about such matters such as homosexuality to the extent that there is no social stigma about ones sexual alignment... however, we understand that different cultures have different opinions about such matters; we wouldn't expect a fundamental christian nation to be so forgiving about homosexuality as it wouldn't be in their nature.

So we wish you luck with your referendum, we'll be watching to learn more about democracies as we still find the concept to be a little alien to us.
