A warm morning in the city of Uruk, capital of the Dostanuot Loj republic, a crowd was gathered around the front steps of the Government Headquarters where a stand and microphone had been set up.
A door to the side of the stand opened up, a thick metal door, and out slowly walked a tall figure, over six feet tall, clad in flat black armor, no skin or human features visible, the non-reflective face plate of the helmet looked all the more menacing, this figure looked like a god to the people watching. Following the dark figure was Admiral U.Namtar II, wearing his usual black governmental uniform and carrying his sidearm with him, but he was followed outside by yet another dark figure.
As the Admiral approached the stand, the two figures took their places on either side of him, no insignia visible except for the patch on their shoulders, clearly showing the symbols for Special Operations division, these two were Rogue SpecOps soldiers. they stood there, holding their DR-9 assault rifles at the ready, bayonettes fixed to the rifles and undoubtable the safeties off. No one in the crowd watching had ever seen a Rogue before, indeed, very few outside of the Special Operations division or the highest Government officials had ever seen a Rogue before, they were the most secret of the secret, their presence meant only one thig; this was big.
The Admiral placed a few pieces of paper on the stand and adjusted the miceophone, looking over the crowd, a look of worry on his face, and the tell-tale signs of have no sleep last night in his eyes.

"Citizens," he began, "I come before you today with a matter of great importance. As many of you may know by now, the nation of Loegyr has seized and mined the Straight of Gibralter, and is not allowing any shipping but their own through the waterway. As many of you also know, our great nation uses this waterway almost exclusivly for shipping between the two terriroties of our Republic, Sumeria and Ke'Tuna.
"This recent mining of the Gibralter Straight is thus seen by our people as an attack on our soviergenty, it is meant to divide our peoples and reduce us to a third world nation. We have never before taken action against the nation of Loegyr, nor have we ever thought of doing so. However, these actions of war can not be ignored by our people." The admiral paused a moment to take a drink from the glass of water on the stand before continuing.
"Already peace talks have been proposed, and we are taking every measure in our power to ensure these talks go through, I will personally be attending and representing our great nation at these talks. But as these talks will take place, the mines will remain, shipping between our two territories will cease to exist, as it has already, and we will decline into a depression. Such a blow can not, and will not be tolerated, not against our great and ancient nation.
"Our ancient nation has seen many rises and falls, many challanges, and many blessings. The Semite invasion in 3005 PD, the capture of Semite lands in 3006PD and the unification of Great Sumer. The Elamite wars between 5296 PD and 5310 PD, where we crushed the people of Elam and expanded yet further. The discovery of the Taino's in the far away land in 8900 PU, and their official accecptance into the Republic as the territory of Ke'Tuna in 9000 PD. We have seen it all, and for the past 1004 years the gods have blessed our great nation. For divided we are by race, religion, and an ocean, together we stand by idologies and freindship. We, the people of Sumer and the people of the Taino will not be divided by a mere mine feild, we will not allow outsiders to seperate us.
"As I speak to you our forces mobalize, and just hours ago I ordered our Ballistic Missile Submarines out to sea with orders to fire upon selected Loegyr civil centres if they should happen to fire upon our civil centres. I do not wish to escalate into all out nuclear war, and indeed I pray to the gods to not let that happen. However, we must take action. I promise to you, my people, my freinds, my family, that the Ballistic Missile Submarines will not fire upon any target unless our nation is fired upon first. As of this momant on, the nation is in a state of pre-war, pending the negotiations. If the negotiations fail we will have no choice but military action. For all those who's loved ones serve in the armed forces, pray and offer sacrafices, honor those men and women for they will be serving you, your nation and the gods."

With that, the Admiral took another sip from his glass of water, looke over the silent crowd, and walked back inside of the Government Headquarters, followed closely by the two Rogue soldiers.
Silently afterwards, the people began to disperse, returning to their homes and informing their families of what is happening, still quietly processing the information handed to them. Indeed, this was big.

OOC: My nation goes by a type of lunar calander that also syncs with the solar one, it's pretty messed, but 0 PU (Post-Deluge) would be the year of the great flood (the Sumerian myth one), and the current year would be 10,0004 PD to keep it easy. A very ancient empire indeed, basicly my empire is what might have happened had the Semites (Akkadians) not ousted the Sumerians (the people of my nation) into extinction. Quite alot of ancient historical stuff. I just thought I'd explain that incase of any confusion.

In Admarial Abel's office a fax came through. He riped it off and read it through briefly. He then turned to his computer and pushed a few buttons. On the screen apperared a radar readout of a plane dropping mines across the Gibralter straights.

"Absurd idea" though the Admarial to himself. They had better stop these people anyway. The Hatieians controled Spain and though Gibralter was currently neautral, nautrally the British govenment would soon have something to say about this. He called Air force command.

"Get Edward Michael Parker down there" he said down the phone.

Within a few hours, three aircraft from the Svalarbard Airbase were wining their way towards the straits of Gibralter. They all droped below radar level and proceeded to drop two torpedos into the water each. They carried on down towards the mines like torpedos. As they got in range of the field, they simultaniously detonated EMP bursts, frying the tracking and detination circuts of the mines, rendering them useless.

I have nothing to post at this moment in time.

At that moment, at the Cilimatizer station in Helena, MT Colony, the technicians there were reconfiguring the software to limit the amount of snowfall the colony had been getting. (blasted bugs lets twenty inches dump in the mountains..

..can ye say avalanches.. =--= )

While they were doing that, a terminal dedicated to the magnetic field of the earth, used to measure the effects of the magnetic field on the climate, was also being calibrated by a technician.

..which made the "WHOA!!" sound turn many a head.

"What?" Another tech asked.

"The indicator on this terminal just went haywire."

Hearing all this, the supervisor entered the control center. "Did my ears fail me?" ..she then walks over and leans over with the second tech, as the first tech keeps looking.

"The magnetic field spiked, and still is leveling off on a high of 13,500 mags."

The supervisor slits her eyes.

"Keep and eye on it. I'm gonna make some comms with the other Climatizer stations. I bet they..." ..and suddenly walks off.

"..got the same." ..in her wake.

The two tech look back at the status screen.

"EMP or Sunspot burst...." ..the first says, too knowledgeable.

"Sunspot activity is down this week." ..the second says.

"Uhuh.."

Burke stepped up to the podium to reply to the speech of Admiral U.Namtar II, he was pretty sure that war would be inevitable now both nations nuclear forces had gone to full alert and conventional forces were being mobilised. He was not so worried about the intentions of the nation of Neo Cannon, they seemed military inept and diplomatically non-negociating. He steeped up to the microphone and adjusted his glasses before reading off the tele-printer

'People of Loegyr. over the past few months we have seen a crisis develop next to our new colony Gibraltar, it was caused by submarines and planes of the Loegyrian armed forces mining the straight so it became impassable to all ships but our own and our allies. This action made our economy grow by 5% in the past 4 months and the economic forecast is oustanding, never in this nations history has unemployment been so low and so many business' bombing. I can report that the Loegyr Stock Exchange rose by 123 points today the biggets increase in 10 years, the public are now investing more money into the economy so business' have more money to spend on new staff and better pay. Despite this we have ruffled some feathers of other nations who still wish to transit the Straights they have demanded the withdrawl of the mines or face the consequences and shall I tell you what I say to them, we shall face the consequences and we shall win as I know that the men of the Loegyrian Armed Forces are the best trained, equipped and motivated troops in world. I will take this oppertunity to declare a 200 mile exclusion zone around Gibraltar and the 1st CBG anybody trying to breach this zone without permission will be engaged as a hostile enemy who we shall seek out and destroy. I will take this moment to warn the nation of Neo Cannon and their reckless leader that any attempted attack on Loegyrian intrests will have the severest of retailiations (excluding NBC). Thankyou for your time'

"People of Mattvia, and the empire, I am sure that you are aware of the current situation in the Mediterranean. On Sunday the Mattvian government gave an ultimatum stating that, unless the mines are removed before 5 o'clock on Tuesday the 11th of January 2005, or a state of war will be between us, they have made no effort to remove them, even tough we have been going though secret negotiations with said country. So I have to tell you know, that this nation, is at war with Loegyr. It hurts me and my government just as it hurts you, we have tried and tried, but they have bothered to remove there mines, we are to cease there illegal mining of the Straight of Gibraltar, rise all who seek freedom, rise up!"

Burke read the message just delivered from the Mattvian embassy, so it had finally come to it a major conflict between European powers. 66 years ago Hitler had declared war on Poland which had started the bloodiest war of all time, now the time had come again for full scale war on the European Continent. He immeaditley got his Secretary for the economy in and ordered that he begin preperations for changing the economy into a war economy that would throw out supplies and equipment at a tremendous rate. He ordered the National Guard to be moblisied and the Naval and Air Force Reserves to begin to ready their ships and planes. Burkes Cheif of Defence Staff had just told him they had around 50,000 troops in and around Gibraltar to face the massive onslaught that was about to come.

The Med,

The 6 submarines had pulled into Gibraltar and been outfitted with mines once again (same kind as well). The subs pulled away from the docks and ran up to 30knts as there was no reported enemy nearby, in half a day they reached the gap between the Balearic Islands and Sardinia. They systermatically layed two lines of 36 CAPTOR mines each 10km away from the next one. This line of mines would cut off the Mattvia navy from their approach root to the straights very nicely the Commander of HMLS New York thought as the last mine popped out the torpedo hatch. After they had finished they high tailed it back to Gibraltar to arm with proper weapons, Mk-48ADCAP's and Harpoon Anti-shipping missiles.

OC- No way to knopw about these mines, no ones mentioned any naval activity in this area so the subs can not have been deteced.

Med Naval HQ, Crete:

"Ok, from Malta, I want two ships going to Nice I think." The supreme commander of the navy in the med told his men. The two ships were HIMS Captain and the HIMS God, these two ships were small vessels not much importance, they were on there way to France, when the ship in front of them, the HIMS Captain blew up. The captain of the HIMS God, sent a life boat the opposite way back to Malta to raise the alarm, MINES!
But, like a true sailor the captain went down with his ship, him and the rest of the crew sung many Mattvian songs, they could just see another ship and sung even louder, then the ship went with a bang.

"Right, we have mines, I have a idea." The supreme commander of the navy in the med said.
That day, three hundred old Mattvian navy vessels and odd fishing vessels came the same route, all blowing up at the same time, another ship came though and was safe, they had found a passage though! Huzzah!
Boys were drooped so sailors knew the safe way!

Over the skies of Gibraltar:

300 Flying Fortresses went over the colony, dropping about a ton or two of bombs on the colony, there loses were terrible out of the 300, only 100 came back.

Im not quite sure why. EMP exists. You said in the previous post that these things were computerised with radar to detect what was going on. I EMPed them so they are fried. There's nothing wrong with what I did.

At the Dostanuot Loj headquarters of the Ke'Tuna Territory in Dorado, a yound Latin American woman stepped up to a microphone, TV cameras broadcasting the live video feed all over the nation.
She cleared her throat, and began to read, slowly and clearly, from the paper she had in her hands.

"I, Natika Namtar, acting soviergn of The Republic of Dostanuot Loj in my Husband's absence, do hereby officially declare a state of war upon the nation of Loegyr.
In accordance with Dostanuot Loj law, as of now all branches of the armed forces are being put onto combat readyness. Territorial Defence has been given to the Territorial Gaurd Forces, freeing the Navy, Airforce, Marines, Republican Gaurd, Fleet, and Special Operations and Weapons departments for the task at hand.
The Economy is hereby placed into a war status.
All Dostanuot Loj controlled waterways, including but not limited to the Bosphorus, Carribean, and Persian water-masses are now off-limits to all Loegyr shipping. Any ships found in these waters by Dostanuot Loj forces will be fired upon without question, their assets seized, vessles impounded, and crew arested as Prisoners of war, in accordance with Dostasnuot Loj law.
Furthermore, any Loegyr shipping found to be approaching Dostanuot Loj coastline, will be fired upon by her coastal Defence Guns on sight.
This is the official declaration, go to your jobs, support your nation. Defeat the enemy."

With that, the young woman stepped down from the stand and returned to the Headquarters Building.

At several military controled Greecian ports a Regiment of Assault Marines began to board a strange looking craft. In total, 5 of these KM Erkanoplan assault vessles began to assemble off the coast, with an escort of two Puerto Rico class Light Cruisers and a Supply ship.
The Cruisers and supply ship escorted the five craft, each holding two platoons of heavily armed Assault marines, to the coast of Mattvian Malta, where they requested permission to dock and prepare for the final leg of their journey.

OOC: Um... KM Erkanoplan's can't be detected by mines... so your minefeilds are useless, plus, your ships can't keep up with, or catch up with them.

The Landing craft fleet is undergoing a revision, and will be back in operation in about 2 RL days. So I have only 7 KM Erkanoplan craft at my disposal for that right now.
As for armed forces... well, Aproxemetly 300,000 Marines, including Logistics and support units, 400,000 Republican Gaurd (Army), including support and logistics, And my Sumer Territory (Middle East/Europe) has a Territorial Gaurd of about 600,000, but they're for home defence.

OC- I'm taking it that we will re do the bomber attack :)

60 miles east of Gibraltar,

The E-3 Sentry picked up a large group of bombers incoming at about 200 miles, the powerful AWACS radar could detect almost anything in the sky. The airborne controller vectored the 12 Eurofighters on patrol into the path of the bombers and asked for a further 24 Eurofighters to be armed and sent into the path of the bombers. At Gibraltar air base the fighters where being armed with AIM-54 Phoenix long range air-air missiles as well as shorter range AMRAAM's and Sidewinders, the reserve squadron would be in the air in 5 minutes and in combat in 10. The KC-135 tankers moved in to top off the fuel tanks of the Fighters on CAP and then the EF-4 Phantoms began to set up their jamming equipment that could prove the decisive factor in the up coming battle.

Somewhere in the Medterrainnen,

The 6 commanders of the 6 LA Class subs had been given their orders, they would commence the war with a devestating blow to the logistically important base of Malta along with the Tomahawks on Gibraltar. The subs came to 60ft of depth before they opened the 12 missile tubes on the deck of the submarine, each sub fired a missile every 10 seconds. In 2 minutes 72 Tomahawks where climbing into the night sky all functional and on track. At the same time on the Island of Gibraltar the Quad Tomahawk launchers of the 1st Cruise Missile Battery launched their missiles as well, another 72 missiles streaked into the sky heading for the same place. Once this had been done trucks where sent down to the docks to gather new missiles and reload the process would take an hour. As soon as the subs fired they reved to 30knts and exited the area in different directions in 24 hours they would all meet up 50 miles east of the straight to form a line against incoming ships.

In conclusion: 144 Tomahawk Land Attack Cruise Missiles fired at Malta, 72 aimed at the Carriers in the fleets (exact positions gained from satallite photos), 36 against the 7 KM Erkanoplan craft and finally 36 against the massive amount of Battlecruisers.

Also Mattvia your bombers are just coming in and my fighters are scrambling to fight them off.

Alarms were ringing every were, 144 tomahawk missiles were in the area heading mostly toward Malta. All staff every man woman and child were put into deep bunkers, the tomahawks could not get though these. The anti missile defences were on line and started firing missiles at the tomahawks, about 26 were blown to pieces, well that's what the radar was telling them.
Everybody was in brace positions as the missles smashed into the buildings above. Children started crying and dogs barking, but they were ok.

1 hour later.....

People started to move out of there positions there were a few body's lying around, the ones who hadn't made it, the death toll was 39 dead. 12 and 9 women and 18 children died.

On board the HIMS Pitty:

"Fire cruiser missiles!"

6 cruise missiles zoomed into the air and were heading to Gibraltar.

Bombers.

The aircraft were just over the colony, there radars were telling them that Euro fighters were in the air, with this they called for support and there escorts came out from behind the cover of the sun, there were 23 Jaguars, that was funny one of the crew on one of the bombers thought, I thought there was 35?
"Three minutes till the bombs will be drooped" the commander of all the bombers told his men though his intercom.

OOC: Um.. I hope you wern't firing at my entitre forces in the Med., since only 2 light cruisers, 5 Erkanoplans and a supply ship of mine were actually at Malta. Anything else of mine you;re firing upon would have to be in port at either Cyprus, Troy, or Jericho Harbour.... so, you did just hit Malta right? Because all my other ships are quite out of range. So I'm just going to assume you fired at my 3 ships and 5 Erkanoplans at Malta, if not then I'll re-do the RP and take the appropriate response.

The alarms started wailing all around the Malta port, imediatly all soldiers returned to their battle stations, not knowing what was happening. Suddenly a Mattvian officer drove up to the docking port of the Ponce, Puerto Rico class Light Cruiser, "Loegyr just launched cruise missiles at Malta, take cover!!" he screamed before driving away to the nearest Mattvian bunker.
Alarms on the two cruisers began to flail, the four Mk.18 Mjlonir close in weapons systems on each cruiser spun into action, the twin high speed 25mm gatling guns of each Mk.18 turned to the incomming missiles. When within the extreme range of the air-to-air missiles of the two cruisers, they launched, within seconds the full battery of anti-air missiles that each cruiser carried, 90 in total from the now empty launch systems. The missiles shot off to the mass of cruise missiles, deatonating within proximity of incomming missiles to destroy them, hitting as many as possible, but still many made it through.
As the troops strapped into the 5 Erkanoplans in the harbour, their engines flared, the five craft pushing their engines to full power faster then was safely reccomended and heading out of the harbor. Within seconds three of the five craft had hit open water, reaching their cruising speed of 500km/h as they turned to their home ports in Greece to repair and recover. The two that hadn't made it were struck by enumerous Loegyr cruise missiles before the had made it out of the harbour, lost with all hands.
The Mk.18 guns of the cruisers opened fire on the remaining cruise missiles, destroying plenty of them, but still some got through, smashing into both cruisers and the supply ship.
When the attack had finished the Ponce was still there, her forweard main gun turret destroyed, as well as a large chunk of the rear superstructure was missile, but still she floated.
The other cruiser, the Bayamon, had not fared so well, only what was left of the super structure was above the water as the hull rested on the harbour bottem, life boats of the remaining crew began to move to shore. High casualties had been taken in the attack, it was lucky the majority of the Marines had made it out.

Elsewhere in the Medeteranian, a lone Female class patrol sub was moving along, extra quiet, their electric engines producing much less noise then any nuclear submarine could achieve. Running with all but the most essential systems shut down.
"psst", wispered the sonar officer as he listened to the water around them, "Captian, we have a group of 6 sub-surface targets on sonar, they just lit up the sound spectrum like the the Akitu fesitval in Ur. Like they had been firing everything they had at once."
The Captian repressed his laugh, he had to keep quiet, everyone was wispering on his orders. "Can we engage them with our torpedoes?" the captian wispered in response.
"No sir, too many ships at too odd a formation." The sonar opperator returned his attention to his station as the Captian walked softly to his first officer.
Looking at the piece of paper in his hand, new orders from earlier today, he grimly smiled at his first officer.
"Load tubes one and two with the Mk.194's. I don't know what those enemy contacts were doing, but whatever it was we can;t let them get away with it."
"But sir, are you sure that's wise?" The first officer asked, very astonished at this order.
The Captian handed the piece of paper to his first officer, "We've been authorised by the top to commence Operation Irkalla at our discretion, and I see no other way to engage those enemy ships."
"Very well sir, I hope this is the right thing to do."
The first officer walked to the forward torpedo tubes to give the orders, the Captian relaying the very same orders to his weapons officer.
A few moments later, after they had been loaded with the appropriate munitions, the outer doors for torpedo tubes one and two opened, and two Mk.194 tactical nuclear torpedoes launched out in sequention.
The two Mk.194's streaked out towards the group of six enemy submarines. They screamed through the water towards the contacts, deatonating their 10kt high eficency thromonuclear warheads when they were within 50m of any of the six targets.

OOC: Those be tactical warheads, used solely against military targets. I hope the ante doesn't keep upping, I'd rather just keep with the conventional invasion.

*Off the East African Coast; 200km away from the Straits..

..150 meters deep*

The Nadesico-Yamato was hiding itself in silent running, the High-Mobile Battleship submerged, and quiet a a tomb.

Captain Ruri Hoshenko was calmly monitoring the situation, under orders.

..her frown wasn't going away anytime soon.

There was a tactiful lack of words, as the laser bouy above relays the sonics and satellite visuals from the Condor.

OC- I strongly urge you reconsider your last post as you have just described the deliberate use of nuclear weapons and Loegyr has only response to a Nuclear attack on its military or people and that is to strike back harder with double the force. Your right about the Malta thing I just assumed that the ships where there, sorry.

OC2- Mattvia your planes have to get past the Eurofighters before they can bomb the colony, so you can't just be over the colony when we have not even engaged in air-air combat.

Gibraltar,

C-in-C Medterrainen was pleased with the results of the strike, 2 craft damaged, a cruiser sunk and 2 Erkanoplans sunk.

'Do you know the casulties' he asked

'no sir, we are finding out' a senior aide answered (OC- post a casulty list)

'Prepare for the next phase of the plan'

12 B-2 Spirit Bombers where being armed with 12 CALCM missiles in the underground hangers of Gibraltar Air Force Base, They would take off after the air engagement east of Gibraltar had finished and the sky was clear of enemy planes that may spot the take off. The mission was detailed for tonight so the crews where getting a few hours sleep before their first combat mission.

OOC-I am over the colony you haven't got your fighters up fast enough, not my fault.

OOC: Loegyr, to start, you seem to be putting more force in Gibralter then you have the means too. I refuse to believe you have any signifigant nuclear response capability when your own nation page says your economy is "Devloping", as in very very small. You can not feild state of the art weapons in such large numbers with such large numbers of highly trained soldiers, AND have an even remotely well equiped nuclear reaction force.
I not only stand by my use, but I put this up as a final reccomendation, try to keep it realistic, or I will just ignore you.
I don't care how big your population is, they have nothing to do with your economy. And your economy is what matters in running your military.
I have the ability to literally glass your entire nation, and I will on any hint of your use of nuclear weapons upon my own soil. Unless of course you decide to assume that because of your population that you have alot of nuclear weapons of very high yeild, in which case I'm ignoring you.
